TypeConverter.ConvertFrom String to String

I'm using a PropertyGrid to display a property. For one property, I'm displaying strings in a drop-down combobox. The displayed text of the property and the value of the property are both strings, but their text is different. The displayed text is friendly, the value text corresponds to a registry key name. I've created a TypeConverter to convert between the display text and the value text, but the ConvertFrom() method appears to work correctly until I change the combo-box selection. It then sends the 'value' text instead of the display text to use during the conversion. Has anyone else used string-to-string conversion successfully?

Assignments failing

I'm debugging part of a large project in Visual Studio 2005, and stepping through the code line by line. int speed = this->values.speed; int ref = this->values.ref_speed; After stepping past the first line, values.speed has a value of 61, but for some reason, speed is getting assigned the value 58. After the second line, values.ref_speed has a value of 58, but ref gets assigned the value 30. When paused, you can see that the original values are in fact 61 and 58 respectively, but the values getting stored are different. What is causing this behaviour?

I am using qunit and jquery. Latest version of both. In my code when I submit the form I have the event as e. I call e.serializeArray() Here is my test. equals(args.data, [ { "name": "user_name", "value": "john" } ], 'input data'); And this is the error message from qunit. expected: [ { "name": "user_name", "value": "david" } ] result: [ { "name": "user_name", "value": "david" } ] As you can see to the naked eye the expected and result value is same but qunit is not liking it. I guess I am missing something.

The above code simply means that "Car is convertible to human" However, if you run the snippet you will find the expression c is Human evaluates to false! I used to believe that the is operator is kinda expensive cause it attempts to do an actual cast that might result in an InvalidCastException. If the operator is trying to cast, then the cast should succeed as there's an operator logic that should perform the cast! What does "is" test? Does test a hierarchical "is-a" relationship? Does test whether a variable type is convertible to a type?

Bulk inserting and updating with Entity Framework (Probably a better alternative?)

I have a data set of devices, addresses, and companies that I need to import into our database, with the catch that our database may already include a specific device/address/company that is included in the new data set. If that is the case, I need to update that entry with the new information in the data set, excluding addresses. We check if an exact copy of that address exists, otherwise we make a new entry. My issue is that it is very slow to attempt to grab a device/company in EF and if it exist updated it, otherwise insert it. To fix this I tried to get all the companies, devices, and addresses and insert them into respective hashmaps, and check if the identifier of the new data exists in the hashmap. This hasn't led to any performance increases. I've included my code below. Typically I would do a batch insert, I'm not sure what I would do for a batch update though. I'm having issues trying to deserializing my xml string that was from a dataset.. Here is the XML layout.. <DataSet> <User> <UserName>Test</UserName> <Email>[email protected]</Email> <Details> <ID>1</ID> <Name>TestDetails</Name> <Value>1</Value> </Details <Details> <ID>2</ID> <Name>Testing</Name> <Value>3</Value> </Details </User> </DataSet> Now I am able to deserialize the "UserName" and "Email" when doing public class User { public string UserName {get;set;} public string Email {get;set;} public Details[] Details {get;set;} } public class Details { public int ID {get;set;} public string Name {get;set;} public string Value {get;set;} } This deserializes fine when I just get the user node, the Details isnt null but has no items in it.. i know I am suppose to have between all the details but I rather not modify the XML, anyways to get this to deserialize properly without recreating the XML after I get it?

Using a bookmarklet to track a package

I'm trying to write a bookmarklet that tracks a package in the mail. First it checks to see if the tracking page is open, if not it opens it in a new tab, and then sets the value of the form to the tracking number. Finally, it submits the form. What I'm so far unable to do is set the value of the form in the case where the bookmarklet opens up a new tab. Having problem with decimal points in MS Excel 2007

I want to generate a graph with a large decimal number like -106.63633167743683 or 52.132235169410706. But whenever I'm entering the value in Excel sheet it is giving me value like -106.63633167743600 (as I have formatted cell with 15 decimal places). It is replacing the value of last two digits by 0. Can anyone help regarding this please?
