• Looking for Opinions and Sugestions on my Website. (General Question)

  I am looking for general opinions and suggestions about the site in whole. Its ok I don't mind hearing where I went wrong on anything. I'm still learning. All tips and pointers on any subject relating are highly welcome. If you are going to make a suggestion and post a snippet or code please explain how it works in detail. The site was design as a interface to display the labs I have to do in my college (the labs are all basic things that I'm way beyond). So I decided to take it all to the next level with this. The link is http://opentech.durhamcollege.ca/~intn2201/brittains/labs/ It is 100% designed by me with the exception of the icons. (I could not think of anything better to draw) There is no specific area of the site I want suggestions or opinions on this is a general question. As you scroll up and down the stars move independently from the cockpit windows creating a layered effect. How do they get two images to move independently of each other?

For my code, what i wish to do is permutation count. it will count from top to bottom 1,2,3 1,2,3 1,2,3 output to 111 = 1 112 = 1 113 = 1 121 = 1 122 = 1 123 = 1 133 = 1 211 = 1 212 = 1 213 = 1 333 = 1 and continue till all number is count and also store to the array which can check how many count after all code will check the input number and count how many outcome and show the results with how many outcome and each have how many after permutation count. • How to launch a browser in view source mode?

  I want to open a file in a web browser (anyone will do) and I want to see it in the view source mode instead of in the standard browser window. This can be done in two steps, by opening the file and then go to the view source window (different shortcuts in each browser), but I want to directly go to the view source window. I have not found any such command line argument for Firefox nor Chrome. Is this possible just with the base browser functionality?

I mean here by external page is another web application like for example: http://www.yahoo.com There is the code: $("#externalContent").load("http://www.yahoo.com", function () { alert("loading finish"); }); when I use firebug I got this result: you see here, i highlighted the response code, it's 200 which means OK, but still no content loaded.   My problem is rather complex to explain, so I'll show you an example: http://ewolf.bplaced.de/misc/float.htm I want to have a floated element (the blue box) to be be placed over two other elements (red and green) and I want the whole thing to be fixed-width and centered (done by the box with the black border) while the background of the red and green box should fill the whole width. I'm actually not quite sure if the way I've done it now is XHTML/CSS valid, but it works - at least in Firefox. In IE6, the green box expands to fit the whole blue box - how can I fix this in IE6 or find another solution to show it correctly in all browsers?

  i am using Jvectormap to place 2 maps on my page. the maps are placed normally and everything is fine. they are placed in 2 different divs: <div id="map1"> </div> <div id="map2"> </div> and the Jquery: $(function () { $('#map1').vectorMap({ color: '#aaaaaa', backgroundColor: '#ffffff', hoverOpacity: 1, hoverColor: true }); }); $(function () { $('#map2').vectorMap({ color: '#aaaaaa', backgroundColor: '#ffffff', hoverOpacity: 1, }); }); Now when I try to change the colors of map2 dynamically using: $("#map2").vectorMap("set", "colors", colorsDictionnary); The colors of the first one only is changed. and this happens only when changing colors. Always the first one have it's colors changed even if I am using $("#map2") How can change the colors of the map2 without touching map1? Thank you very much for any help, I really need it

• Is it bad to have the <link> tag for hCard when there is no hCard on that page?

  I'm just wondering if it is bad practice to put the <link> tag for hCard profile on every page, if you don't know that the page being rendered has an hCard. My site has hCards - is it worth trimming the link tag out of the pages that don't have them? <link rel="profile" href="http://microformats.org/profile/hcard"> Does this mean this page has an hCard or look for an hCard on this page? Does it mean interpret an hCard as specified, if found? Obviously, you can pull in stylesheets using <link> but they apply to the page. I don't even see anything at that destination other than some sub-par hCard documentation.

• main content wrapper div get's pushed down the page in IE

  I have a 2 column layout, with the left side for navigation and the right side for the main content. The right side content has a wrapper div that looks like: Now this looks fine in FF and GC, and it IE but if I change the padding to anything over 4px that section gets pushed down below the left navigation. #content { padding:3px; // 4 makes it get pushed down } Does this mean IE has a different way of calculating the width of all my elements? Is this a common problem that has a solution for it?

The problem is that i have a memo field (mysql text) witch i print after getting the result from PHP nl2br function. The problems is that in some ocasions, this text is too long (even on font-size: 6px) and i need some way to make a page break (get again de header, and footer etc)... or maybe a nice way to get a second column to continue with the text inside. any ideas? thanks so much
