  • Is it possible to select data with max value for a column using Criteria in Hibernate?

    - by Palo
Lets say I have the following mapping: <hibernate-mapping package="mypackage"> <class name="User" table="user"> <id name="id" column="id"> <generator class="native"></generator> </id> <property name="name" /> <property name="age" /> </class> </hibernate-mapping> Is it possible to select the oldest user (that is age is maximal) using Criteria in Hibernate? I can imagine that i could do this with 2 selects. (first select total number of users and then order the entries descending by age and select the first entry). But is it possible with a single select? Thank you Palo

  • jQuery async ajax query and returning value problem (scope, closure)

    - by glebovgin
Hi. Code not working because of async query and variable scope problem. I can't understand how to solve this. Change to $.ajax method with async:false - not an option. I know about closures, but how I can implement it here - don't know. I've seen all topics here about closures in js and jQuery async problems - but still nothing. Help, please. Here is the code: var map = null; var marker; var cluster = null; function refreshMap() { var markers = []; var markerImage = new google.maps.MarkerImage('/images/image-1_32_t.png', new google.maps.Size(32, 32)); $.get('/get_users.php',{},function(data){ if(data.status == 'error') return false; var users = data.users; // here users.length = 1 - this is ok; for(var i in users) { //here I have every values from users - ok var latLng = new google.maps.LatLng(users[i].lat, users[i].lng); var mark = new google.maps.Marker({ position: latLng, icon: markerImage }); markers.push(mark); alert(markers.length); // length 1 } },'json'); alert(markers.length); // length 0 //if I have alert() above - I get result cluster = new MarkerClusterer(map, markers, { maxZoom: null, gridSize: null }); } Thanks.

  • Merging some columns of two mysql tables where id = fileid

    - by garg
    There are two tables TableA filedata_id | user_id | filename 1 | 1 | file.txt 2 | 1 | file2.txt TableB a_id | date | filedataid | counter | state | cat_id | subcat_id | med_id 99 | 1242144 | 1 | 2 | v | 55 | 56 | 90 100 | 1231232 | 2 | 3 | i | 44 | 55 | 110 I want to move columns cat_id, subcat_id, med_id to TableA where tableA.filedata_id = TableB.filedataid The result should be: TableA filedata_id | user_id | filename | cat_id | subcat_id | med_id 1 | 1 | file.txt | 55 | 56 | 90 2 | 1 | file2.txt | 44 | 55 | 110 and so on. Is there a way to do this easily?

  • Similar SQL queries returning different results...

    - by Pablo
Here are the SQL Queries: $sql1 = "SELECT count(thread) AS total FROM comments WHERE thread=1 AND parent_id=0 "; $sql2 = "SELECT count(thread) AS total FROM comments, users WHERE thread=1 AND parent_id=0 AND users.user_id=comments.user_id "; $sql3 = "SELECT comments.*, users.username AS username FROM comments, users WHERE thread=1 AND parent_id=0 AND users.user_id=comments.user_id ORDER BY date LIMIT 10, 5 "; My question is why would $sql1 and $sql2 would return two different results? $sql1 returns 61 rows $sql2 returns 56 rows The 5th line in $sql2 is just for testing, is not required, is just a variation of $sql1 which gets the total rows for a pagination.

  • Basic SQL Query, I am newbie

    - by user3530547
I just started my database and query class on Monday. We met on Monday and just went over the syllabus, and on Wednesday the network at school was down so we couldn't even do the power point lecture. Right now I am working on my first homework assignment and I am almost finished but I am having trouble on one question. Here is is... Write a SELECT statement that returns one column from the Customers table named FullName that joins the LastName and FirstName columns. Format the columns with the last name, a comma, a space, and the first name like this: Doe, John Sort the result set by last name in ascending sequence. Return only the contacts whose last name begins with letters from M to Z. Here is what I have so far... USE md0577283 SELECT FirstName,LastName FROM Customers ORDER BY LastName,FirstName My question is how do I format is Lastname, FirstName like the professor wants and how do I only select names M-Z? If someone could point me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you. PS With all do respect, I didn't ask for the answer I asked for a nudge in the right direction so why the down vote guys?

  • PHP login, getting wrong count value from query / fetch array

    - by Chris
Hello, *EDIT*Thanks to the comments below it has been figured out that the problem lies with the md5, without everything works as it should. But how do i implent the md5 then? I am having some troubles with the following code below to login. The database and register system are already working. The problem lies that it does not find any result at all in the query. IF the count is 0 it should redirect the user to a secured page. But this only works if i write count = 0, but this should be 0 , only if the user name and password is found he should be directed to the secure (startpage) of the site after login. For example root (username) root (password) already exists but i cannot seem to properly login with it. <?php session_start(); if (!empty($_POST["send"])) { $username = ($_POST["username"]); $password = (md5($_POST["password"])); $count = 0; $con = mysql_connect("localhost" , "root", ""); mysql_select_db("testdb", $con); $result = mysql_query("SELECT name, password FROM user WHERE name = '".$username."' AND password = '".$password."' ") or die("Error select statement"); $count = mysql_num_rows($result); if($count > 0) // always goes the to else, only works with >=0 but then the data is not found in the database, hence incorrect { $row = mysql_fetch_array($result); $_SESSION["username"] = $row["name"]; header("Location: StartPage.php"); } else { echo "Wrong login data, please try again"; } mysql_close($con); } ?>

  • MySQL - Limit a left join to the first date-time that occurs?

    - by John M
Simplified table structure (the tables can't be merged at this time): TableA: dts_received (datetime) dts_completed (datetime) task_a (varchar) TableB: dts_started (datetime) task_b (varchar) What I would like to do is determine how long a task took to complete. The join parameter would be something like ON task_a = task_b AND dts_completed < dts_started The issue is that there may be multiple date-times that occur after the dts_completed. How do I create a join that only returns the first tableB-datetime that occurs after the tableA-datetime?

  • Joining tables, if percentage is above certain value

    - by CluelessGerman
My question is similar to this one: Compare rows and get percentage However, little different. I adapted my question to the other post. I got 2 tables. First table: user_id | post_id 1 1 1 2 1 3 2 12 2 15 And second table: post_id | rating 1 1 1 2 1 3 2 1 2 5 3 null 3 1 3 4 12 4 15 1 So now I would like to count the rating for each post, in the second table. If the rating has more than, lets say, 50% positive ratings than I want to get the post_id and going it to the post_id from table one and add 1 to the user_id. At the end it would return the user_id with the number of positive posts. The result for above table would be: user_id | helpfulPosts 1 2 2 1 The post with post_id 1 and 3 have positive rating, because more than 50% have ratings of 1-3. The post with id = 2 is not positive, because the rating is exactly 50%. How would I achieve this? For clarification: It's a mysql rdbm and a positive post, is one where the number of rating_ids with 1, 2 and 3 are more than half of the overall rating. Basically the same thing, from the other thread I posted above.

  • Select Query Joined on Two Fields?

    - by btollett
    I've got a few tables in an access database: ID | LocationName 1 | Location1 2 | Location2 ID | LocationID | Date | NumProductsDelivered 1 | 1 | 12/10 | 3 2 | 1 | 01/11 | 2 3 | 1 | 02/11 | 2 4 | 2 | 11/10 | 1 5 | 2 | 12/10 | 1 ID | LocationID | Date | NumEmployees | EmployeeType 1 | 1 | 12/10 | 10 | 1 (=Permanent) 2 | 1 | 12/10 | 3 | 2 (=Temporary) 3 | 1 | 12/10 | 1 | 3 (=Support) 4 | 2 | 10/10 | 1 | 1 5 | 2 | 11/10 | 2 | 1 6 | 2 | 11/10 | 1 | 2 7 | 2 | 11/10 | 1 | 3 8 | 2 | 12/10 | 2 | 1 9 | 2 | 12/10 | 1 | 3 What I want to do is pass in the LocationID as a parameter and get back something like the following table. So, if I pass in 2 as my LocationID, I should get: Date | NumProductsDelivered | NumPermanentEmployees | NumSupportEmployees 10/10 | | 1 | 11/10 | 1 | 2 | 1 12/10 | 1 | 2 | 1 It seems like this should be a pretty simple query. I really don't even need the first table except as a way to fill in the combo box on the form from which the user chooses which location they want a report for. Unfortunately, everything I've done has resulted in me getting a lot more data than I should be getting. My confusion is in how to set up the join (presumably that's what I'm looking for here) given that I want both the date and locationID to be the same for each row in the result set. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

  • Sort MySQL query result by a alphanumeric field

    - by Jason Shultz
I'm querying a table in a db using php. one of the fields is a column called "rank" and has data like the following: none 1-bronze 2-silver 3-gold ... 10-ambassador 11-president I want to be able to sort the results based on that "rank" column. any results where the field is "none" get excluded, so those don't factor in. As you can already guess, right now the results are coming back like this: 1-bronze 10-ambassador 11-president 2-silver 3-gold Of course, I would like for it to be sorted so it is like the following: 1-bronze 2-silver 3-gold ... 10-ambassador 11-president Right now the query is being returned as an object. I've tried different sort options like natsort, sort, array_multisort but haven't got it to work the way I'm sure it can. I would prefer keeping the results in an object form if possible. I'm passing the data on to a view in the next step. although, it's perfectly acceptable to pass the object to the view and then do the work there. so it's not an issue after all. :) thank you for your help. i'm hoping I'm making sense.

  • SQL - Query to display average as either "longer than" or "shorter than"

    - by user1840801
Here are the tables I've created: CREATE TABLE Plane_new (Pnum char(3), Feature varchar2(20), Ptype varchar2(15), primary key (Pnum)); CREATE TABLE Employee_new (eid char(3), ename varchar(10), salary number(7,2), mid char(3), PRIMARY KEY (eid), FOREIGN KEY (mid) REFERENCES Employee_new); CREATE TABLE Pilot_new (eid char(3), Licence char(9), primary key (eid), foreign key (eid) references Employee_new on delete cascade); CREATE TABLE FlightI_new (Fnum char(4), Fdate date, Duration number(2), Pid char(3), Pnum char(3), primary key (Fnum), foreign key (Pid) references Pilot_new (eid), foreign key (Pnum) references Plane_new); And here is the query I must complete: For each flight, display its number, the name of the pilot who implemented the flight and the words ‘Longer than average’ if the flight duration was longer than average or the words ‘Shorter than average’ if the flight duration was shorter than or equal to the average. For the column holding the words ‘Longer than average’ or ‘Shorter than average’ make a header Length. Here is what I've come up with - with no luck! SELECT F.Fnum, E.ename, CASE Length WHEN F.Duration>(SELECT AVG(F.Duration) FROM FlightI_new F) THEN "Longer than average" WHEN F.Duration<=(SELECT AVG(F.Duration) FROM FlightI_new F) THEN 'Shorter than average' END FROM FlightI_new F LEFT OUTER JOIN Employee_new E ON F.Pid=E.eid GROUP BY F.Fnum, E.ename; Where am I going wrong?

  • SQL query doesn't get inserted

    - by Deejdd
    I've been trying to get my query to work for some time it runs but doesn't insert anything nor does it return any errors. The database connection is open and is successfuly connection. The Table is called errorlog and holds the following data - id (int autoincremental, Primary key, Unique) - exception (varchar) - time (DateTime) exception = String(error message) time = DateTime.Now Here's the code: public void insertError(string error, DateTime time) { SqlCeParameter[] sqlParams = new SqlCeParameter[] { new SqlCeParameter("@exception", error), new SqlCeParameter("@time", time) }; try { cmd = new SqlCeCommand(); cmd.Connection = connection; cmd.CommandType = CommandType.Text; cmd.CommandText = "INSERT INTO errorlog (exception, time) VALUES(@exception, @time)"; cmd.Parameters.AddRange(sqlParams); cmd.ExecuteNonQuery(); } catch (Exception e) { Console.WriteLine(e.Message); } } Any help would be appreciated, Thanks in advance. EDIT Removed quotes around @exception Heres the connection: protected DataController() { try { string appPath = System.IO.Path.GetDirectoryName(Assembly.GetAssembly(typeof(DataController)).CodeBase).Replace(@"file:\", "") + @"\"; string strCon = @"Data Source = " + appPath + @"Data\EasyShop.sdf"; connection = new SqlCeConnection(strCon); } catch (Exception e) { } connection.Open(); } Finally the way it gets called: public bool log(string msg, bool timestamp = true) { DataController dc = DataController.Instance(); dc.insertError(msg, DateTime.Today); return true; }
