• Mult-line Svg tooltip

  I have created numerous polygon shapes in SVG format. and grouped them together. When the user hovers over the group a tooltip box appear. I have used ecmascript. What i am looking to do is make the tooltip box a multiline box. • MCV/MVP Patterns and Applications that interface with Hardware (DAQ/PLC/etc)

  I've been reading a lot about the MCV and MVP patterns for use with UI and it seems like a really nice powerful way to handle user interfaces. I am - however - having a difficult time deciding how this could integrate into a system where data in the model is created from a Data Acquisition System or Serial/Ethernet devices. There is also the added step that 70% of application interaction is performed by a PLC instead of a live user. It seems that for apps that just read/write & manipulate information from a database this works great, but how does does hardware and automation fit into these patterns? Is it as simple as another controller (for lack of a better term) that interacts with hardware that manipulates data and writes to a model? Maybe I am over thinking this or thinking too simply, so any advice would be great. I'm not quite sure where I'm going with this, so if something doesn't make sense or I was too vague leave me a comment. Thanks!

• Strange CSS Positioning issue with a fader on a responsive site

  I'm developing a prototype responsive wordpress theme version of my homepage. I'm running into issues with the fader on the homepage. http://dev.epicwebdesign.ca/epicblog/ When the image switches, it uses position:absolute to overlay the pictures, then goes back to position:relative. I need to make the absolute be relative to the bottom left corner of the menu instead of the top left corner of #wrap so it doesn't overlap. I tried putting it in a container div like this: http://wiki.orbeon.com/forms/doc/contributor-guide/browser#TOC-Absolutely-positioned-box-inside-a-box-with-overflow:-auto-or-hidden but that doesn't seem to work. Any ideas? There are major CSS compatibility issues in IE, try it in chrome. It should look similar to http://epicwebdesign.ca. When the browser window is shrunk horizontially, the whole theme compensates.

• Can Atom be used for things besides syndication feeds?

  Purely in terms of its conceptual model, is the purpose of Atom (and RSS) only to provide a time-sequential series of frequently-updated items, such as "most recent blog posts" or "last twenty SVN commits," or can Atom be legitimately used to represent static and/or non-time-sequential listings/indices? As an example, "index of files under this directory", "dog breeds" or "music genres". Even if there's a date associated with the items, like a file's last modified date, what if you don't necessarily want time to be the primary consideration when you represent that model to your users? The context for this is passing around (generating and consuming) lists of things in a REST-ful environment, hopefully using a well-understood format, where "date something was created/updated" is a pertinent detail, but not the primary consideration. I realize there's probably no right answer, but wanted to get some perspectives. Thanks.

• JDBC ResultSet.getString Before/After Start/End of ResultSet Exception

  I have done a lot of searching about this topic through Google but I have yet to find someone using getString() in the way that I am using it so I have not been able to fix this issue in the normal ways that are suggested. What I am trying to do is to obtain all of the information from the database and then use it to populate a table model within the program. I do so by obtaining the data with getString and place it into a String[] object: try { while (rSet.next()) { String row[] = {rSet.getString("DonorName"),rSet.getString("DonorCharity"),((String)rSet.getString("DonationAmount"))}; model.addRow(row); } } However I am always getting a dialog error message stating those error messages in the title: Exception: Before start of result set Exception: After end of result set The data is still added and everything works correctly but it is just annoying to have to dismiss those message windows. Does anyone have some suggestions?

  Are there examples of how to pass a list of key_names to Model.get_or_insert() ? My Problem: With a method of ParentLayer I want to make the children. • FieldError when annotating over foreign keys

  I have a models file that looks similar to the following: class WithDate(models.Model): adddedDate = models.DateTimeField(auto_now_add=True) modifiedDate = models.DateTimeField(auto_now=True) class Meta: abstract = True class Match(WithDate): ... class Notify(WithDate): matchId = models.ForeignKey(Match) headline = models.CharField(null=True, blank=True, max_length=10) For each Match I'm trying to get a count of notify records that have a headline. So my call looks like matchObjs = Match.objects.annotate(notifies_made=Count('notify__headline__isnull')) This keeps throwing a FieldError. I've simplified the query down to matchObjs = Match.objects.annotate(notifies_made=Count('notify')) And I still get the same FieldError... I've seen this work in other cases (other documentation, other SO questions like this one) but I can't figure out why I'm getting an error. The specific error that is returned is as follows: Cannot resolve keyword 'notify' into field. Choices are: (all fields from Match model) Does anyone have a clue as to why I can't get this annotation to work across tables? I'm baffled after looking at the other SO question and various Django docs where I've seen this done. Edit: I am using Django 1.1.1

  Can anyone speak to the ease of dividing work amongst multiple developers when designing and building a medium- to large-complexity Silverlight or WPF application? My team is finding it difficult to cleanly split work when you've got, for example, a number of controls that provide different visualizations of a Model/ViewModel that's fairly complex and has a lot of properties and methods for interacting with data. It seems like a very big portion of the work ends up being the design and build of the Model/ViewModel, and much less inside each of the controls, which are naturally what are easy to ration out to multiple people.

• Mongoid Embeds_many won't save on nested form

  I've got an embeds_many association I'm trying to set up which I've done successfully before, but I'm trying to do it all in one nested form and I can't figure it out. Let's say we have a pocket model: class Pocket include Mongoid::Document field :title, type: String embeds_many :coins, cascade_callbacks: true end and a Coin Model: class Coin include Mongoid::Document field :name, type: String embedded_in :pocket end in my form for the pocket, I'm using: = f.fields_for @pocket.coins do |coin| = coin.text_field :name My controller is the default scaffolded controller. When I use the console, it saves fine and I can see the new pocket and coin I've created. But when I try to create or update a coin from the form, the pocket saves but the coin remains unchanged. What am I missing here?

• Reading int from a hidden field in .aspx

  Hi, I'm struggling to read an int from the hidden field on aspx page. <input type = "hidden" id = "myIntegerId" name = "integerId" value= "<%: Model.MyObjectId %>" runat = "server" /> The value is definately on the form, I can see it in the debugger and print it with <%: % When I read the form values in the controller, instead of an int I recieve a following string: <%: Model.MyObjectId % I have tried casting data in the hidden field to string and calling ToString() method on that field, neither has worked. The data is submitted using the post event. I have a feeling that I'm missing something very basic... Any help is greately appreciated. Thanks

• Extra < using auto complete in Sublime Text 2

  I installed the All Autocomplete package in my Sublime Text 2 editor and everything works fine except when I type "<div" or something similar, the auto-complete box pops up, I select the one I want and hit enter and it adds "<<div></div>" with an extra "<" in the front of my tag. I have to go back and delete the extra "<" every time...(!) I can't seem to resolve this issue. If I use the command CTRL+Space, the box pops up and I can select the tag I want and it does not include the extra tag but that messes with my flow. Has anyone out there experienced this? I'm trying to compare them in a way that validates that every element of one list has the same value as every element of another list. • Multi-tab application (C#)

  Hi, I'm creating a multi-tabbed .NET application that allows the user to dynamically add and remove tabs at runtime. When a new tab is added, a control is added to it (as a child), in which the contents can be edited (eg. a text box). The user can perform tasks on the currently visible text box using a toolbar/menu bar. To better explain this, look at the picture below to see an example of what I want to accomplish. It's just a mock-up, so it doesn't actually work that way, but it shows what I want to get done. Essentially, like a multi-tabbed Notepad. Is there a way I can set a bottom margin of a ContentPresenter, that is generated to hold the controls, defined in the Panorama.HeaderTemplate? • Combining features from other projects in an ASP.NET MVC application

  Hello, I am writing an ASP.NET MVC application that combines a set of features from existing applications. The new application is suppose to use UI features and logic created (especially for this purpose) in the existing applications. For that reason I wanted to create in the existing applications some kind of a "blackbox" that I will be able to drop in my new application along with a matching connection string, and it will work independently, binding data on it's own. I thought about using partial views, but I am having trouble with passing the model data to it, since the controller of the new application should not know about the model of the existing applications. I can not use ASP.NET WebForms, since my application should be a "postback-less" application, and ASP.NET AJAX toolkit or frameworks alike are out of the question. • More memory usage for IIS 6 asp.net 2.0 on webserver 2003

  Running a webserver 2003 SP2 (x86) with IIS 6 and asp.net 2. The box is running mostly dynamic asp pages connecting to a sql 2008 server. At any given time there is over 1 gig of memory available out of the 2 gig in the box. It seems like there would be a way for it to make better use of the free memory. It is using a default machine.config file and default http.sys. I would like to maximize incoming internet connections and database connections. Is there something I can do to make better use of the available memory?

So for along time My Aproach to interacting with databases in my AspNet projects has been this : 1) Create my stored procedures 2) Drag an SQLDatasource control on my aspx page 3) Bind a DataList Control to my SQLDatasource 4) Insert, Update & Delete by using my Datalist or programmatically using built in SQLDatasource methods e.g MySqlDataSource.InsertParameters["author"].DefaultValue = TextBox1.Text; MySqlDataSource.Insert(); Recently however I got a relatively easy web project. So I decided to employ a 3-tier Model...But I got exhausted halfway and just didnt seem worth it ! It seemed like I was working too HARD for a project that could have been easily accomplished by a couple of SqlDataSource Controls. So Why Is the N-Tier Model better than my Approach? Has it anything to do with performance? What are the advantages of the ObjectDataSource control over the SqlDataSource Control?

• WPF - Two way binding use a user control...binding to object, not an element!

  I created an object with a simple property with a default value. I then created a user control that has a text box in it. I set the datacontext of the user control to the object. The text box correctly shows the properties default value but I can't seem to update the property value when the user changes the text box value. I created a simple project to illustrate my code. • hidden form element not bound?

  Is it standard/intended behaviour that the value of a hidden form field is not bound to the view model (nor is a query string value)? Example: <%= Html.Hidden("test", "13" )%> if my poco view model contains a property test it should be bound shouldn't it?! i have to set it explicitely in the controller at the moment which kind of defeats the objective doesn't it? bla( formviewmodel m, string test) { m.test = test; } any feedback appreciated. thanks! christian

I don't know why this is not working with only Competitor model.
