I'm a .NET developer learning Java EE. These two concepts seem to serve the same exact purposes in either system.
So which framework gets credit for inventing them?
I'm experimenting with the spring 3 MVC framework. Since i use maven 2 to manage my project, i'm searching for a archetype to create a spring 3 MVC application.
Hi,
I'm starting to write a application in php with one of my friends and was wondering, if you have any advice on how to implement module support into our application.
Or is there a way how to automatically load modules written in php by a php application? Or should i just rely on __autoload function?
And we are not using any kind of framework, for now at least.
So I'm trying to use the django 1.1 template engine with the google app engine web app framework, from here. This is on Ubuntu Jaunty, I've made sure that the PYTHONPATH contains the location of Django-1.1.1 yet I'm getting this 'ImportError: No module named django' error when it tries to execute the use_library() line below. Again, could somebody help me? I'm stumped.
import os
os.environ['DJANGO_SETTINGS_MODULE'] = 'settings'
from google.appengine.dist import use_library
use_library('django', '1.1')

I'm currently using and enjoying using the Flex MVC framework PureMVC. I have heard some good things about Cairngorm, which is supported by Adobe and has first-to-market momentum. And there is a new player called Mate, which has a good deal of buzz.
Has anyone tried two or three of these frameworks and formed an opinion?
Thanks!
From what I read on the internets, WCF Data Services seem to be bound to data access via Entity Framework on the server.
Is there a way to have NHibernate access mapped in the same way?
Chicago Boss seems like a neat framework and a good excuse to learn Erlang.
Have any of you used it? Can I really get great performance hosting it on a single machine?
I'm writing a web app using Python and the web.py framework, and I need to use memcached throughout.
I've been searching the internet trying to find some good documentation on the python-memcached module, but all I could find was this example on the MySQL website, and the documentation on its methods isn't great.

Hey SO,
I've got a pretty noob question for ya. I keep seeing this syntax:
<%= Html.LabelFor(model => model.Email) %>
...and I have no idea what the = means. I thought it was syntax for linq2sql or ado.net entity framework but I'm just using straight ado.net. I don't understand why the VWD used that syntax when generating the Create form.
What does = mean?

Someone has already created an application with these same features to help me understand where is the problem?
P.S.: I'm going crazy
Thanks to all
I look forward to develop a WPF MVVC application which is to be ran both on Windows with .Net Framework and Mac/Linux with Mono.
As far as I understand the only part of of WPF implemented in Mono is Silverlight as Moonlight.
As far as I've read it is possible to develop a standalone application with Silverlight 3, but is it possible with Moonlight 2?
Hi,
As part of the college mini-project, I am developing a micro-blogging platform for Android. I am planning to use Django framework in python to handle the communication between Android and remote server so as to make database API independent. I heard its best practice to use HTTP methods for the communication. Which is the best site/book to learn using HTTP methods for Android? I
Can anyone comment on which is more scalable between RoR and PHP? I have heard that RoR is less scalable than PHP since RoR has a little more overhead with its MVC framework while PHP is more low level and lighter. This is a bit vague - can anyone explain better?
I have one SDK that is available in Java and another SDK that is available for .Net and would like to write a single application that interfaces with both of them. I imagine I will need to use a cross platform communication framework that can support named pipes (or other in memory communication), what is the best choice?
After some more research I found Hessian -- does anyone know anything about the maturity of this project?
I have a jython servlet as part of a large application running in tomcat5. I tested a few Spring Framework classes and create the objects in the Jython servlet. When I try to create objects of classes in the application I catch an Exception message "No visible constructors for class". These java classes do have a public constructor class, such as:
public SchoolImpl() {
}
I create the object in python:
from com.dc.sports.entity import SchoolImpl
...
school = SchoolImpl()
What am I doing wrong?
