• Using Jquery.Form Plugin + MultiFile to automatically upload a single file

  I wanted to find a way to upload a single file*, in the background, have it start automatically after file selection, and not require a flash uploader, so I am trying to use two great mechanisms (jQuery.Form and JQuery MultiFile) together. I haven't succeeded, but I'm pretty sure it's because I'm missing something fundamental. Just using MultiFile, I define the form as follows... <form id="photoForm" action="image.php" method="post" enctype="multipart/form-data"> The file input button is defined as... <input id="photoButton" "name="sourceFile" class="photoButton max-1 accept-jpg" type="file"> And the Javascript is... $('#photoButton').MultiFile({ afterFileSelect: function(){ document.getElementById("photoForm").submit(); } }); This works perfectly. As soon as the user selects a single file, MultiFile submits the form to the server. If instead of using MultiFile, as shown above, let's say I include a Submit button along with the JQuery Form plugin defined as follows... var options = { success: respondToUpload }; $('#photoForm').ajaxForm(options); ... this also works perfectly. When the Submit button is clicked, the form is uploaded in the background. What I don't know how to do is get these two to work together. If I use Javascript to submit the form (as shown in the MultiFile example above), the form is submitted but the JQuery.Form function is not called, so the form does not get submitted in the background. I thought that maybe I needed to change the form registration as follows... $('#photoForm').submit(function() { $('#photoForm').ajaxForm(options); }); ...but that didn't solve the problem. The same is true when I tried .ajaxSubmit instead of .ajaxForm. What am I missing? BTW: I know it might sound strange to use MultiFile for single-file uploads, but the idea is that the number of files will be dynamic based on the user's account. So, I'm starting with one but the number changes depending on conditions.

  Hi I am working on migrating the ASP.NET apllication to MVC Framework. I have implemented session timeout for InActiveUser using JQuery idleTimeout plugin. I have set idletime for 30 min as below in my Master Page. So that After the user session is timedout of 30 Min, an Auto Logout dialog shows for couple of seconds and says that "You are about to be signed out due to Inactivity" Now after this once the user is logged out and redirected to Home Page. Here i again want to show a Dialog and should stay there saying "You are Logged out" until the user clicks on it. • Plugin Framework - can there be too many addin assemblies?

  Hi, The product I'm working on needs to be built in such a way that we have a quote engine driven by a pluggable framework. We are currently thinking of using MAF, so we can leverage separation of the host and addin interfaces for versioning. However, I'm concerned that we'd have lots of assemblies, it's likely that we'd have one for each quote engine addin - of which there could be 100 going forward, we also need to support multiple versions, so there could be lots of assemblies in total. The quote engine also uses WF to drive it, which means each AppDomain for each addin will need a workflow runtime associated with it. This seems quite heavyweight, however we can unload unfrequently used addins. Does this seem like a good design? We've also looked at a single AppDomain solution using an IOC container to load addin types, but I'm concerned that we won't be able to unload any of the assemblies, given their quantity.

  What's an effective approach to debug NameErrors in Rails? I'm trying to use the desert plugin (0.5.0) and the edge version of Community_Engine. I've started from scratch and gone through the installation instructions. When I attempt to start my server, I get this error: "Constant RAILS_END from rails_end.rb not found (NameError)". Problem is I cannot find rails_end.rb, nor can I find a google reference to this file or error. I've verified that the required gems are installed and current. I've dug around google and desert, but haven't found any reference to this constant. Any ideas?   Hey, I'm trying to split my rails project in a front-end for regular users and a back-end for admins. Therefore i have created a namespace 'admin' so that i can easily control admin specific controller methods/layouts/authentication in the map admin. I'm using Devise to register/authenticate my admins only. Because it is only used for admins only i'm trying to move Devise to the admin namespace. I could not find exactly what i was looking for in the documentation of Devise but i tried something like this in routes.rb: namespace 'admin'do devise_for :admins end I also tried to make a custom Devise::Sessions controller but that too didn't seem to work out. Does anyone know how to do this? Should i just use the regular routes for devise with a custom(admin) layout?

  Whenever two concurrent HTTP requests go to my Rails app, the second always returns the following error: A copy of ApplicationController has been removed from the module tree but is still active! From there it gives an unhelpful stack trace to the effect of "we went through the standard server stuff, ran your first before_filter on ApplicationController (and I checked; it's just whichever filter runs first)", then offers the following: /home/matchu/rails/torch/vendor/rails/activesupport/lib/active_support/dependencies.rb:414:in `load_missing_constant' /home/matchu/rails/torch/vendor/rails/activesupport/lib/active_support/dependencies.rb:96:in `const_missing' which I'm assuming is a generic response and doesn't really say much. Google seems to tell me that people developing Rails Engines will encounter this, but I don't do that. All I've done is upgrade my Rails app from 2.2 (2.1?) to 2.3. What are some possible causes for this error, and how can I go about tracking down what's really going on? I know this question is vague, so would any other information be helpful? More importantly: I tried doing a test run in a "production" environment just now, and the error doesn't seem to persist. Does this only affect development, then, and need I not worry too much?

  Hi, I have been trying to make this to be a little jQuery plugin that I can reuse in the future without having to write the following into my actions.js file in full. This works when loaded in the same file where I set the height using my variable tallest. var tallest = null; $('.slideshow img').each(function(index) { if ($(this).height() >= tallest ) { tallest = $(this).height(); } }); $('.slideshow').height(tallest); This works and will cycle through all the items, then set the value of tallest to the greatest height found. The following however does not work: This would be the plugin, loaded from its own file (before the actions.js file that contains the parts using this): (function($){ $.fn.extend({ tallest: function() { var tallest = null; return this.each(function() { if ($(this).height() >= tallest ) { tallest = $(this).height(); } }); } }); })(jQuery); Once loaded I am trying to use it as follows: $('.slideshow img').tallest(); $('.slideshow').height(tallest); However the above 2 lines return an error of 'tallest is undefined'. How can I make this work? Any ideas would be appreciated. Thinking about this even more the perfect usage of this would be as follows: $('.container').height(tallest('.container item')); But I wouldn't even know where to begin to get this to work in the manner that you pass the object to be measured into the function by adding it into the brackets of the function name.. • Retrieve click() handler in jQuery for later use

  I'm using the jQuery tablesorter plugin to sort a table, which assigns .click() handlers to the <th>s in the table. Since my table has alternating colors for each column, I've built a simple fix_table_colors(identifier) function that does as it should when I call it manually using Firebug. I would like, however, to have that automatically called after a sort. To do this, I decided to retrieve the .click() handler from the <th>s, and assign a new handler that simply calls the previous handler, followed by fix_table_colors(). (This SO question is similar, but uses standard onClick() attributes, which won't work here.) With a bit more digging in Firebug, I found that click[3] appears to hold the function I'm looking for (and click[10] my new one). I get an 'e is undefined' error on line 2 of tablesorter.min.js when using that, though. Am I even going down the right path? I have a feeling that with what I've found so far, I can make this work, but it's going to be much uglier than I would expect it needs to be.

• NAVT WordPress Plugin - Not working on index.php

  Hi there, I need to move my wordpress home page onto the actual index.php file but for some bizarre reason the NAVT plugin doesn't work on there. It also doesn't work on index.php when I put it in the header.php file. It works on all other pages as normal. ALSO, it does work in the footer.php file when viewing the index.php file so this is what makes it all the more confusing. Any ideas what it could be? I've disabled every other plugin so I'm pretty sure there's nothing conflicting. It's rather basic setup and I'm using NAVT default settings. Thanks, Michael.

  Hi All, I am looking for info on the event and ui objects the jquery selectable events: "selecting", and "start" take as parameters. I cannot find this in the documentation and looping through the properties is no help. $('#content_td_account').selectable({ filter: 'li:not(".non_draggable")', selecting: function(event, ui) { } }); Specifically I want to find what elements are being selected and check them to see if their parent elements are the same or not. I assumed this would be in the ui object some where.

• Help with Jquery + Masonry Plugin: How to expand/collapse boxes to reveal content

  I'm using the masonry jquery plugin on a project: (http://desandro.com/resources/jquery-masonry) Basically I have a set of boxes (thumbnails) in a grid. When one is clicked, I want it to expand to a larger size to show more content (additional images and text). I'm struggling with how to make the thumbnail dissappear and then have new content appear in the expanded box. I don't know how to make the new content appear or where to store it on my page--and it needs to have a close button? The creator of the plugin gave me a quick tip for the expanding part, but the code I'm using has a set height and width and I want them to be variable depending on how much content is in the expanded state. • Launching an external application from within a NPAPI Plugin

  I am trying to work out why an NPAPI plugin I have written, which works fine in terms of performing operations triggered via Javascipt calls, cannot use CreateProcess() or ShellExecute() to launch an application from a path specified via the Javascript call. I can seemingly use either of these methods and they return success, i.e. no error code. But the application just does not launch. I have tried modifying the parameters used when calling them, to create new process group etc. But seemingly with no effect. I know this may seem like a bit of a security risk, but for the very specific purpose we wish to use it for it shouldn't be a problem. Thanks.
