  • What Software or tool to ease the building of an eye catching GUI (functional) [closed]

    I want to make a control panel that opens different files but I'm not sure what would be the right tool/Sw to make this. In the company we have about 30 files that we use almost every day. They are all related to each other. I would like to create a "Control panel" to ease the opening and searching of these files. Kind of a control panel with 30 buttons. The only duty of this control panel is to open one of the file selected by the user. I need this "Control Panel" to: Look GREAT Open very fast Could you please recomend me some tool/Sw to acomplish this. What tool or SW is specially focused to make stunning GUIs? Note: In the company We are all using MS Windos 7. Thanks for the help! EDIT: This would be a Stand alone program installed or saved in a network drive. Each person can open the porgram and it pops the GUI. Not for the web. "Looks GREAT" is definitively a subjective matter. I want something that gives me plenty options to display/modify the objetcs that compose the GUI. So i can experiment and find what looks and works the best.

They are just minor changes to reflect the content and layout I want my site to have. What I need to do now is to add some more pages and start displaying properly data from my database.Having said that I will show you how to add more pages to the web application and present data.1) Launch Visual Studio and open your solution where your project lives2) Add a new web form item on the project.Make sure you include the Master Page.Name it PosterList.aspxHave a look at the picture below 3) In Site.Master add the following link to the master page so the user can navigate to it.You should only add the line in bold     <nav>                    <ul id="menu">                        <li><a runat="server" href="~/">Home</a></li>                        <li><a runat="server" href="~/About.aspx">About</a></li>                        <li><a runat="server" href="~/Contact.aspx">Contact</a></li>                          <li><a href="http://weblogs.asp.net/PosterList.aspx">Posters</a></li>                    </ul>                </nav> 4) Now we need to display categories from the database. In the Site.Master.cs file add the following code.This is just a simple function that returns the poster categories.        public IQueryable<PosterCategory> GetPosterCategories()        {            PosterContext ctx = new PosterContext();            IQueryable<PosterCategory> query = ctx.PosterCategories;            return query;        } 6) I just changed a few things in the Site.css file to style the new <section> HTML element that includes the ListView control.#postercat {  text-align: center; background-color: #85C465;}     7) Build and run your application. Everything should compile now. Have a look at the picture below.The links (poster categories) appear.?he ListView control when is called during the page lifecycle calls the GetPosterCategories() method.The method is executed and returns the poster categories that are bound to the control.  When I click on any of the poster category links, the PosterList.aspx page will show up with the appropriate Id that is the PosterCategoryID.Have a look at the picture below  We will add more data-enabled controls in the next post in the PosterList.aspx page.     I am looking into how to design an instance system for the game I am working on. I have always wondered how these are created in games like World of Warcraft, where instances == dungeons/raids/etc). Areas that are separated from players other than those in your group, but have specific logic to them. Specifically how can you reuse your existing code base and not have a bunch of checks everywhere ? if (isInstance) do x; else do y; I don't know if this will make too much of a difference on any answers, but we're using a pretty classic "Object as pure aggregation" component system for our entities.

    I'm researching for a project I'm going to be doing at work on the side... I work for a small hospital and we recently upgraded all the browsers inside our intranet to IE8 (Goodbye 6 :). We have a small, obsolete intranet built by someone who isn't a web designer... functional enough, but annoying to maintain and really sparse. What I'm wanting to do... is use a good framework. I'm looking for suggestions... I'm looking for something Windows IIS based. I'd love windows authentication - with the ability to delegate sub-sections of the website to managers. Right now it's my job to add/update/delete anything from the site... I'd like something not complicated that can be delegated to non-technical people. Like... the Cafeteria Manager should be able to update the menu without putting a ticket into me. She'd log into her computer, open the intranet (which would use her windows log-on to identify her) and have elevated privileges to edit her section of the intranet. If I have to "extend" a good framework to get Windows Authentication, I'll do it... but I'd prefer it to be baked in. What are some good frameworks, tools and places to start? While this isn't a "Huge" project... it's going to be bigger than the basic stuff I've done before and I'd like a good place to start.
