  • Problem getting response from server using cURL, file_get_contents, etc

    I am trying to get the response from a server, which is now not giving any response. I tried file_get_contents(), cURL, and tried getting the headers, but apparently the server is not responding. There are no headers returned or any response of any kind. Also, this happens when I try from my web server - it works fine in my local machine. The server I'm calling is an sms server, to use which they've given a url. The problem is only with this particular server. I get response while trying Google. So may be it's caused by the called server. What I wanna know is what could be (or how to find out) the reasons... Any advices?

    i have file with contents in list form such as [1,'ab','fgf','ssd'] [2,'eb','ghf','hhsd'] [3,'ag','rtf','ssfdd'] i want to read that file line by line using f.readline and assign thn to a list so as to use it is the prog as a list for using list properties tried like k=[ ] k=f.readline() print k[1] i xpected a result to show 2nd element in the list in first line but it showed the first bit and gave o/p as '1' how to get the xpected output.. please suggest

    Well, I would like to build a file hosting website just like other already did, but it is going to be something different by adding search engine, allowing download and upload in full speed for any user, and so on. Unfortunately the web hosting plans, which declared to support UNLIMITED SPACE rarely allows me to host files on those space. So what I need is the unlimited file storage service which could host all of my users' files. I found Amazon S3, already provides such service, but could anybody recommends me for other better ?

    I have a php script that has the following requirement command: require_once 'HTTP/OAuth.php'; the file HTTP/OAuth.php is in php's include_path that is .:/usr/lib/php. Nevertheless in Eclipse the require_once line is marked with the following warning: Include filename: 'HTTP/OAuth.php' doesn't exist in project: How can I make my project see the include_path so it can find the require_once file?   • .BAT Switches Parsing

    Erm.. I'm working with a switches parsing in BAT files, which goes like this: <commands> -a -b -x -y -z -u abc ...... The user may input a lot of switch, or none. So I used looped shift to make parsing infinite switches possible: :loop IF "%1"=="-a" ... SHIFT GOTO loop But when the script ends, I always get cmd executing the switches and showing up error like '-n' is not recognized as an internal... So, someone got any idea? Thanks a lot... P/S: Make solution sticks with BAT script if possible as using other language may cause dependencies problem as this script is aimed on ANY computer with Windows. Finally, thanks again =) EDIT: Tried shf301 suggestion, i found out that I used DEL %0 to delete itself but it seems the %0 is shifted into the arguments because of the SHIFT command.

    Looking for a way to retrieve a file size from a web server using cocoa/foundation. I know one can use NSURLconnection which will return NSURLResponse that contains the file size.     Accidentally I have created file "-" (just a minus) in a directory and commited it. I have to delete it because its causing error on other machines: svn: Can't convert string from 'UTF-8' to native encoding: svn: ?\226?\128?\147 I can remove it from local directory using "rm -i *" or with python "os.remove('\xe2\x80\x93')" but those methods do not work with "svn rm". How to delete such file from svn repository?

    I have often problems reading AVI file with my TV dvd player if they are not divx or xvid (DX50,i.e., is not readable). I'd like to make a fast script to recognize the video codec of these files before burn it on cdrom/dvd. The command : ffmpeg -i file.avi give the "container" of the video stream (mpeg4,mpeg2,etc), not the codec. Any hint? Thanks

I have 3 files which are just plain text, within each file, is a date Date: 2012-08-31 for example I would like to get a command/script to find this and update to the current date, but the date will be ever changing and may not be known going in (without viewing the contents of the file Knowing what the date is, its simple enough with sed, but how can I do this knowing the syntax of the line I want to modify, but not the specific values. ("Date: " at least is unchanging)
