  • 'Invalid conversion from some_type** to const some_type**'

    - by petersohn
    I've got a function that requires const some_type** as an argument (some_type is a struct, and the function needs a pointer to an array of this type). I declared a local variable of type some_type*, and initialized it. Then I call the function as f(&some_array), and the compiler (gcc) says: error: invalid conversion from ‘some_type**’ to ‘const some_type**’ What's the problem here? Why can't I convert a variable to const?

  • Python - How can I make this code asynchronous?

    - by dave
    Here's some code that illustrates my problem: def blocking1(): while True: yield 'first blocking function example' def blocking2(): while True: yield 'second blocking function example' for i in blocking1(): print 'this will be shown' for i in blocking2(): print 'this will not be shown' I have two functions which contain while True loops. These will yield data which I will then log somewhere (most likely, to an sqlite database). I've been playing around with threading and have gotten it working. However, I don't really like it... What I would like to do is make my blocking functions asynchronous. Something like: def blocking1(callback): while True: callback('first blocking function example') def blocking2(callback): while True: callback('second blocking function example') def log(data): print data blocking1(log) blocking2(log) How can I achieve this in Python? I've seen the standard library comes with asyncore and the big name in this game is Twisted but both of these seem to be used for socket IO. How can I async my non-socket related, blocking functions?

  • Difference between Class Abstraction and Object Interfaces in PHP?

    - by Mark Tomlin
    What is the difference between a Class Abstraction and an Object Interfaces in PHP? I ask because, I don't really see the point to both of them, they both do the same thing! So, what are the advantages of disadvantages using both against one or the other? Class Abstraction: abstract class aClass { // Force extending class to define these methods abstract public function setVariable($name, $var); abstract public function getHtml($template); } Object Interface: interface iClass { // Force impementing class to define these methods public function setVariable($name, $var); public function getHtml($template); }

  • jQuery and MySQL

    - by Wayne
    I have taken a jQuery script which would remove divs on a click, but I want to implement deleting records of a MySQL database. In the delete.php: <?php $photo_id = $_POST['id']; $sql = "DELETE FROM photos WHERE id = '" . $photo_id . "'"; $result = mysql_query($sql) or die(mysql_error()); ?> The jQuery script: $(document).ready(function() { $('#load').hide(); }); $(function() { $(".delete").click(function() { $('#load').fadeIn(); var commentContainer = $(this).parent(); var id = $(this).attr("id"); var string = 'id='+ id ; $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "delete.php", data: string, cache: false, success: function(){ commentContainer.slideUp('slow', function() {$("#photo-" + id).remove();}); $('#load').fadeOut(); } }); return false; }); }); The div goes away when I click on it, but then after I refresh the page, it appears again... How do I get it to delete it from the database? Thanks :) EDIT: Woopsie... forgot to add the db.php to it, so it works now .<

  • Javascript Global Variable in Array

    - by user1387727
    My question may be very easy to lots of people, but I am new to Javascript. I really do not know what is wrong with the following codes. var newValue = 1; function getCurrentAmount() { return [newValue,2,3]; } var result = getCurrentAmount(); console.log(result[0] + "" + result[1] + result[2]); In the above code, the result shown in console is: undefined23 Why is the result not "123"? I am trying to use global variable because I want to increment newValue by 1 each time when the function is called. I want something like the following: var newValue = 1; function getCurrentAmount() { newValue ++; return [newValue,2,3]; } setInterval(function(){ var result = getCurrentAmount(); console.log(result[0] + "" + result[1] + result[2]); }, 1000); Also, I just tired the following codes and it works as expected. var newValue =1; function test() { newValue ++; return newValue; } console.log(test()); So I think the problem is about the Array. I hope my question is clear enough. Thanks in advance.

  • jQuery: use Use filter(), but work with both results

    - by Tomalak
    In jQuery, filter() reduces your result to those elements that fulfill a certain condition. This splits the list in two parts. Working with the "good half" of the elements is easy: $("some selector").filter(function() { // determine result... return result; }).each( /* do something */ ); But how can I work with the "other half" of my elements, too - but without doing the equivalent of this: $("some selector").filter(function() { // determine result... return !result; }).each( /* do something else */ ); Basically, I'd like to feed two separate /* do something */ parts to a single filter. One for those that match, and one for the others - without having to filter twice. Am I missing a jQuery function that does this? P.S.: I guess I could do: $("some selector").each(function() { // determine result... if (result) /* do something */ else /* do something else */ }); But I was hoping for something nicer.

  • jquery selection with .not()

    - by Yako
    Hello, I have some troubles with jQuery. I have a set of Divs with .square classes. Only one of them is supposed to have an .active class. This .active class may be activated/de-activated onClick. Here is my code : jQuery().ready(function() { $(".square").not(".active").click(function() { //initialize $('.square').removeClass('active'); //activation $(this).addClass('active'); // some action here... }); $('.square.active').click(function() { $(this).removeClass('active'); }); }); My problem is that the first function si called, even if I click on an active .square, as if the selector was not working. In fact, this seems to be due to the addClass('active') line... Would you have an idea how to fix this ? Thanks

  • Simple nested setTimeout() only runs once (JavaScript)

    - by danielfaraday
    For some reason my galleryScroll() function only runs once, even though the function calls itself using setTimeout(). I'm thinking the issue may be related to scope, but I'm not sure: http://jsfiddle.net/CYEBC/2/ $(document).ready(function() { var x = $('#box').offset().left; var y = $('#box').offset().top; galleryScroll(); function galleryScroll() { x = x + 1; y = y + 1; $('#box').offset({ left: x, top: y }); setTimeout('galleryScroll()', 100); } });?   • Highlight multiple rows using jQuery

    - by cf_PhillipSenn
    I'm putting together a succinct jQuery matrix because I'm having a hard time navigating around on the jQuery site, and the cheat sheets don't seem to provide me what I want either. Here's how I highlight the rows: $('.eq').hover(function() { $('.eq').toggleClass('highlight'); }); $('.is').hover(function() { $('.is').toggleClass('highlight'); }); Q: How can I write a function that says "toggle everything in the same class as what is being hovered over"? Something like: function toggle(that){ $(that.className).toggleClass('highlight'); }

  • Is possible to initialize an object in javascript in this way?

    I'd like to initialize an object in javascript calling directly a method that belongs to it: var obj = (function(){ return{ init: function(){ console.log("initialized!"); }, uninit: function(x){ console.log("uninitialized!"); } }; }).init(); //later obj.uninit(); obj.init(); This specific example doesn't work, is there something similar?

  • Instantiate a javascript module only one time.

    - by Cedric Dugas
    Hey guys, I follow a module pattern where I instantiate components, however, a lot of time a component will only be instantiate one time (example: a comment system for an article). For now I instantiate in the same JS file. but I was wondering if it is the wrong approach? It kind of make no sense to instantiate in the same file and always only once. But at the same time, if this file is in the page I want to have access to my module without instantiate from elsewhere, and IF I need another instance, I just create another from elsewhere... Here is the pattern I follow: ApplicationNamespace.Classname = function() { // constructor function privateFunctionInit() { // private } this.privilegedFunction = function() { // privileged privateFunction(); }; privateFunctionInit() }; ApplicationNamespace.Classname.prototype = { Method: function(){} } var class = new ApplicationNamespace.Classname(); What do you think, wrong approach, or is this good?

  • sapply and concurrency in R

    - by JSmaga
    Good afternoon, Somebody asked me a question today and neither did I know the answer nor could I find it in the documentation. This person simply asked me if the sapply function in R was making concurrent calls to the function you want to apply to the list, or if the computation is done sequantially. Does anybody know the answer? What about rapply (the recursive version of this function)? Thanks, Jeremie

  • PHP 5.3 and interface \ArrayAccess

    - by Jakub Lédl
    I'm now working on a project and I have one class that implements the ArrayAccess interface. Howewer, I'm getting an error that says that my implementation: must be compatible with that of ArrayAccess::offsetSet(). My implementation looks like this: public function offsetSet($offset, $value) { if (!is_string($offset)) { throw new \LogicException("..."); } $this->params[$offset] = $value; } So, to me it looks like my implementation is correct. Any idea what is wrong? Thanks very much! The class look like this: class HttpRequest implements \ArrayAccess { // tons of private variables, methods for working // with current http request etc. Really nothing that // could interfere with that interface. // ArrayAccess implementation public function offsetExists($offset) { return isset ($this->params[$offset]); } public function offsetGet($offset) { return isset ($this->params[$offset]) ? $this->params[$offset] : NULL; } public function offsetSet($offset, $value) { if (!is_string($offset)) { throw new \LogicException("You can only assing to params using specified key."); } $this->params[$offset] = $value; } public function offsetUnset($offset) { unset ($this->params[$offset]); } }

Is this a known issue with jquery tablesorter?

  • jquery .blur for entire block of HTML

    - by Stacey
    I have an HTML item for a 'drop down menu', structured like this... <li class="ui-dropdown-list" > <a href="#">Right Drop Down Menu</a> <ul> <li><a href="#">Item</a></li> <li><a href="#">Item</a></li> <li><a href="#">Item</a></li> </ul> </li> Using jQuery to make this a dropdown list, with the following code. jQuery.fn.dropdown = function () { var defaults = { button: null, menu: null, visible: false }; var options = $.extend(defaults, options); return this.each(function () { options.button = $(this); options.menu = $(this).find("ul"); // when the parent is clicked, determine whether dropdown needs to occur options.button.click(function () { options.visible ? lift(options.menu) : drop(options.menu); options.visible = !options.visible; }); // drop the menu down so that it can be seen. function drop(e) { options.button.addClass("open"); options.menu.show(); } // lift the menu up, hiding it from view. function lift(e) { options.menu.hide(); options.button.removeClass('open'); } }); }; I am trying to wire it up so that if the user clicks anywhere outside of the menu, it will collapse it. This is proving much more difficult than I anticipated; even trying to use page level events. Any suggestions? The menu itself never really 'receives' focus, so using .blur doesn't seem to be suiting the purpose.
