  • stack management in CLR

    - by enableDeepak
I understand the basic concept of stack and heap but great if any1 can solve following confusions: Is there a single stack for entire application process or for each thread starting in a project a new stack is created? Is there a single Heap for entire application process or for each thread starting in a project a new stack is created? If Stack are created for each thread, then how process manage sequential flow of threads (and hence stacks)

  • How do I concatenate a lot of files into one inside Hadoop, with no mapping or reduction

    - by Leonard
I'm trying to combine multiple files in multiple input directories into a single file, for various odd reasons I won't go into. My initial try was to write a 'nul' mapper and reducer that just copied input to output, but that failed. My latest try is: vcm_hadoop lester jar /vcm/home/apps/hadoop/contrib/streaming/hadoop-*-streaming.jar -input /cruncher/201004/08/17/00 -output /lcuffcat9 -mapper /bin/cat -reducer NONE but I end up with multiple output files anyway. Anybody know how I can coax everything into a single output file?

  • Best way to organize MATLAB classes?

    - by jjkparker
MATLAB has two ways of organizing classes: @-directories: @ClassName\ ClassName.m Method1.m Method2.m Single files: ClassName.m: classdef ClassName methods % all methods included here end end The first style existed before the new classdef syntax, but seems to be a more structured way of doing things. The second style (everything in a single file) is new. Which method do you use, and why?

  • Issues with mx:method, mx.rpc.remoting.mxml.RemoteObject, and sub-classing mx.rpc.remoting.mxml.Remo

    - by Ryan Wilson
I am looking to subclass RemoteObject. Instead of: <mx:RemoteObject ... > <mx:method ... /> <mx:method ... /> </mx:RemoteObject> I want to do something like: <remoting:CustomRemoteObject ...> <mx:method ... /> <mx:method ... /> </remoting:CustomRemoteObject> where CustomRemoteObject extends mx.rpc.remoting.mxml.RemoteObject like so: package remoting { import mx.rpc.remoting.mxml.RemoteObject; public class CustomRemoteObject extends RemoteObject { public function CustomRemoteObject(destination:String=null) { super(destination); } } } However, when doing so and declaring a CustomRemoteObject in MXML as above, the flex compiler shows the error: Could not resolve <mx:method> to a component implementation At first I thought it had something to do with CustomRemoteObject failing to do something, despite that (or since) it had no change except as to the name. So, I copied the source from mx.rpc.remoting.mxml.RemoteObject into CustomRemoteObject and modified it so the only difference was a refactoring of the class and package name. But still, the same error. Unlike many MXML components, I cannot cmd+click <mx:method> in FlashBuilder to open the source. Likewise, I have not found a reference in mx.rpc.remoting.mxml.RemoteObject, mx.rpc.remoting.RemoteObject, or mx.rpc.remoting.AbstractService, and have been unsuccessful in find its source online. Which leads me to the questions in the title: What exactly is <mx:method>? (yes, I know it's a declaration of a RemoteObject method, and I know how to use it, but it's peculiar in regard to other components) Why did my attempt at subclassing RemoteObject fail, despite it effectually being a rename? Perhaps the root, why can mx.rpc.remoting.mxml.RemoteObject as an MXML declaration accept <mx:method> child tags, yet the source of said class cannot when refactored in name only?

  • How do I create a Solution Wide Connection String

    - by Renier
Hi. Does anyone know if it is possible to create a single connection string that will be accessible to all the projects in a solution (we have about 6). I can create a text file with this information, but we need design time support as well, and it is not practical to have a connection string in every App.Config and Web.config file in the solution. We basically want a Single connection string that is easy to change should the location of the db change, that will also be used by the IDE for design time support Regards, Renier

  • Sprite Fallback

    - by MontyBongo
I have a number of images on a page contained within a single sprite image, these images must be contained within the single sprite due to other requirements of the site. Whilst this is working fine in most browsers I have an issue on Opera Mini where it is not rendering the sprite at all and just displaying the whole image. Is there any CSS that can be used to provide a text alternative when the browser is unable to render the sprite?

  • Silverlight Marching Ants Image Selection

    - by Ben Herila
(Silverlight 3) Is there a pre-existing (preferably free, even better if open source) method (either a control or source code) for dragging a "marching ants" style selection on an image in a ScrollViewer or on a Canvas, similar to how it's done in image editing software? Even better if the resulting selection box has adjustment handles.

  • Deterministic Annealing Code

    - by wade
I would like to find an open source example of a code for deterministic annealing. It can be in almost any language: C, C++, MatLab/Octave, Fortran. I have already found a MatLab code for simulated annealing, so MatLab would be best. Here is a paper that describes the algorithm: http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&ct=res&cd=1&ved=0CB8QFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fvandamteaching.googlepages.com%2FABriefIntroductionToDeterministicAnn.pdf&ei=DiLiS8qZFI7AMozB1JED&usg=AFQjCNHLps7HRWXLNN5rAX5aJ5BsJbcHuQ&sig2=YSokUTOs0UszAFZ9TDiJgQ

  • Python Expand Tabs Length Calculation

    - by Mithrill
I'm confused by how the length of a string is calculated when expandtabs is used. I thought expandtabs replaces tabs with the appropriate number of spaces (with the default number of spaces per tab being 8). However, when I ran the commands using strings of varying lengths and varying numbers of tabs, the length calculation was different than I thought it would be (i.e., each tab didn't always result in the string length being increased by 8 for each instance of "/t"). Below is a detailed script output with comments explaining what I thought should be the result of the command executed above. Would someone please explain the how the length is calculated when expand tabs is used? IDLE 2.6.5 >>> s = '\t' >>> print len(s) 1 >>> #the length of the string without expandtabs was one (1 tab counted as a single space), as expected. >>> print len(s.expandtabs()) 8 >>> #the length of the string with expandtabs was eight (1 tab counted as eight spaces). >>> s = '\t\t' >>> print len(s) 2 >>> #the length of the string without expandtabs was 2 (2 tabs, each counted as a single space). >>> print len(s.expandtabs()) 16 >>> #the length of the string with expandtabs was 16 (2 tabs counted as 8 spaces each). >>> s = 'abc\tabc' >>> print len(s) 7 >>> #the length of the string without expandtabs was seven (6 characters and 1 tab counted as a single space). >>> print len(s.expandtabs()) 11 >>> #the length of the string with expandtabs was NOT 14 (6 characters and one 8 space tabs). >>> s = 'abc\tabc\tabc' >>> print len(s) 11 >>> #the length of the string without expandtabs was 11 (9 characters and 2 tabs counted as a single space). >>> print len(s.expandtabs()) 19 >>> #the length of the string with expandtabs was NOT 25 (9 characters and two 8 space tabs). >>>

  • How to make multiple instances of RCVR, RQSTR and CLUSRCVR channels in WMQ?

    - by Dr. Xray
This is a follow up on the question below, but it deserves another question. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1821514/are-server-conn-and-client-conn-channels-the-only-channels-that-could-have-more-t To my understanding, a receiver (or cluster receiver) channel usually pair up with a single sender (or cluster sender) channel. How can one side being single instance while the other side being multiple instances? Thanks.

  • Gridview - Is it necessary to grab data from database every time a filter, sort, or paging event occ

    - by hamlin11
Regarding gridviews that are not bound to a Data Source Control: In most GridView tutorials that I have seen, when just about any GridView event occurs, the end of the event handler will include BindDataGrid(). In some form, these BindDataGrid() functions 1) Grab data from the database 2) Assign any Filter or Sort expressions to the data, and 3) Bind the gridview to that data source (usually a DataView or DataTable. Is there a better way to provide filterable & sortable data to a GridView without having to hit the database so often? Thanks

Here is some of the concerns that I want to be careful about Should I configure database users per project or per user? or both? Should I provide single sql server instance? There are some more concerns but I think getting answer of these two will be a good starting point.

  • Available alternative libraries in java to generate PDF documents

    - by Fazal
I have been using XSL-FO and FOP Engine to generate PDF documents for required data. This works great, but lately I have seen some limitations in FOP especially when it comes to allowing user to enter text in a html editor which can be transformed to XSL-FO and given to FOP driver. This brought me to point to ask this large community of well informed individuals about what are possible Open Source or even non open source libraries to generate PDF documents in Java?

  • Building a DLL via Maven with mojo-native

    - by graham.reeds
I can build a simple dll consisting of a source file, a header file and a definition but now I am progressing beyond a simple toy dll and working towards something more real (ie: more complex). The DLL I am trying to compile has 2 source files, 2 headers and the dreaded stdafx pair. To compile normally you would use /Yc for the pch and /Yu to use it. How do you specify that with in the constraints of mojo-native's compiler options?
