  • thoughts on making a widget?

    I'm only going to be able to get each site that wants my widget, to copy and paste the code block in once.. So it needs to be really future proof.   • Centering form elements with left alignment

    I would like to center the elements in my form without moving the text or buttons from being aligned on the left. So it would look like this: The bottom square is supposed to be a button. I want it centered, but the <center> tag moves the text and button so they're centered to the input box.   • I need to move a dived CSS module into the center of the page...

    I'm building a website for someone and they wanted the text and bulk of the information to be centered on the page. Problem is I can get everything contained in a tag and then assign the class, but I can't get the whole thing to center. It always hangs to the left even if I apply centering to the div class. I guess you could say that it is stuck on the left side of the page when I want everything to be centered. I would just make everything format larger but they want some space left in the background for the color and maybe some imagery later on. They haven't made up their minds. If you want to take a look here is the link where I'm building or testing stuff. I know the header and such needs to be re proportioned to fit with everything, but just as a frame of reference. Don't worry about the header, just know that I want the white text information area with the purple border to stay the same size, but just move to the center and if some one could tell me how to do that I would appreciate it greatly.

  • IE8 CSS different from IE7 & Firefox

    Hi, I'm applying a css style to a select dropdown and input textboxes. The style appears to work in IE7 and Firefox but not in IE8. The css is: input.text, input.file, textarea.textarea, select.select { font-family:"lucida grande",tahoma,verdana,arial,sans-serif; color:#333; margin:0; padding:4px; } input.text, textarea.textarea, select.select{ border-top:1px solid #7c7c7c; border-left:1px solid #c3c3c3; border-right:1px solid #c3c3c3; border-bottom:1px solid #ddd; } The style appears to apply fine to textboxed but not selects/ Any ideas about why this is happening in IE8?

  • Google Chrome window.open height includes URL bar

    When we open a window using: window.open("/calendar",'calendar','width=950,height=576,titlebar=no,statusbar=no,menubar=no,resizable=no,scrollbars=no'); Firefox 3 and IE 7 open it to have a content area height of 576 plus the browser items (URL bar, status bar, etc). Chrome however opens it to have a total height of 576 meaning a scrollbar appears to the right of the content (and then the bottom because the width is now reduced). How can I get around this? It's for a heavy layout part of a web app so it's not just a matter of "let the user scroll", the client doesn't want that. Has anyone come across this? I don't mind browser sniffing and opening the window bigger, but I know that's yucky these days.

  • Can't get div to 100% height?

    I'm not entirely sure what I'm doing wrong, and I can't figure out how to Google it because a common mistake is very prevalent. I have the parent's height explicitly set, but I can't get #main-sub-content 's height to 100%.   • IE 7 CSS problem with detecting mouse over on div

    I have a div inside an li as part of a top navigation for a website. I'm having trouble with IE 7 having "holes" in the box such that the drop down disappears when the user is still on the drop down. I started with a pure CSS solution (li:hover) and that works awesome in all browsers except IE 7. So I've now added a jQuery/javascript solution to detect when the mouse enters and exits the nav li and then add a class to show the drop down. It works better, but if the mouse is not over an image, p, h3, or a tag then it doesn't think I'm over the div that is the drop down. Very frustrating. I can post some test code, but the issue can be viewed here: http://davincidays.org/ Anyone have any ideas? I've been working on this for waaaay too long already and need some fresh things to try.

  • Figure and figcaption figures shrink images

    I'm attempting to use the figure and figcaption tags to varying success. Someone suggested a great CSS method to get rid of the figure margin and also link up the caption with the image. The problem: all images shrink to an extremely small size. Not sure how to rectify this. These are user-submitted images using Django so they vary in size.     Hello People i have a problem with the png formatted images, i used some PNG images in my mock. when i view the mock in I.E the background of the images are not transparent. i got one solution for making it trasparent in "I.E" from the previous POSTS in the Forum. But my Problem is, i want that image to be tiled horizantlly...using that Filter thing. can any one solve this plz....plz.... i need a solution for making a png in I.E and at the same time it shud be tiled horizontally.

I'm looking to float my navigation to the right of its current position around 200px more, there is room but it wont move over.     I am developing Javascript app that will wrap every line of text entered inside iframe (designmode) with P (or div) like it happens by default in IE. For now I am not pasting my code because I just started, the first problem is when i type some text in firefox and even before I click enter or calling any function firebug inserts <br _moz_dirty=""> under the entered text.   • Data manipulation without server side

    Hi, I have to create a very simple webpage to show, filter and add data from not-yet-defined source (probably txt/xml/cvs). Records should be visible as a table, filtered using 3 criteria fields. There should be also possibility to add new records. My first thought was: XHTML + jQuery + csv2table + PicNet Table Filter. It does exactly what I want except adding rows - that is saving changes in source file (probably due to security risk). My question is - is there any possibility to do it without involving server side like asp.net, jee, php, sql? Source file is located on the server. Thanks for your ideas :-)
