  • When writing a form submit to a file, strip line breaks and commas

    - by bccarlso
I have a form with a textarea in it. I log the results to a text file on the server, but I would like to strip out any line breaks a user would put in the textarea, as well as any commas that would interfere with importing the comma-delimited log text file into Excel or something for later use. I think this has to do with regex, but I'm no expert and could use some help. Or maybe there is an easy PHP function that will do it?

  • How to open files in Java Swing without JFileChooser

    - by ron
I'm using Java Swing (GUI) and I want to add a button to my project for opening files . I don't like the JFileChooser since it opens a small window for browsing through the files of the directories . Can I use something else , instead of the JFileChooser under Java Swing ? I've tried to use elements of SWT but it didn't work , meaning is the use of the button object and then use it inside the Jframe , but that failed , so I guess SWT and Swing don't mix together? Here is the example of Java Swing with JFileChooser and I'm looking for something like this to put in my JFrame.

  • Rename files to increment filenumber using PowerShell?

    - by Frode Lillerud
Hi, I've got a bunch of files named attachment.023940 attachment.024039 attachment.024041 attachment.024103 etc... I need to rename the files by incrementing the filenumber by a given number. (So that they match the right ID in a database) I guess I could write a C# application that uses RegEx to parse the filename, but I assume this is a task that could be accomplished in PowerShell as well? I've found several other threads on SO about using PowerShell to rename files, but none of them handled incrementing a filenumber. I'm on Win7, so PowerShell 2.0 is available.

  • How to run a program on a specific remote computer

    - by lucc
Hi, I have got this working line of code I would like to run via VBScript a share program on a remote computer in a domain environment. The first part is ok where it is asking me to enter a computer name, but the problem is in the second part. I don't know how to run the program on the remote computer that I've entered in the first part. computer = inputbox ("What computer do you wish to check? (Press Enter if this computer)","Computer") set WMI = GetObject("WinMgmts://" & computer) If computer="" then computer = "this computer" Dim objShell Set objShell = WScript.CreateObject( "WScript.Shell" ) objShell.Run("""\\compname\Share\progr.exe""") Set objShell = nothing After running this script, it runs the program on my computer, not on the remote computer. I want to run the program on a specific computer that I have entered from keyboard. Please help. Thank you.

  • Robust Large File Transfer with WCF

    - by Sharov
I want to transfer big files (1GB) over unreliable transport channels. When connection is interrupted, I don't want start file transfering from the begining. I can partially store it in a temp table and store last readed position, so when connection is reestablished I can request continue uploading of file from this position. Is there any best-practice for such kind of things. I'm currently use chunking channel.

  • bad file descriptor with close() socket (c++)

    - by user321246
hi everybody! I'm running out of file descriptors when my program can't connect another host. The close() system call doesn't work, the number of open sockets increases. I can se it with cat /proc/sys/fs/file-nr Print from console: connect: No route to host close: Bad file descriptor connect: No route to host close: Bad file descriptor .. Code: #include <stdio.h> #include <stdlib.h> #include <sys/socket.h> #include <netinet/in.h> #include <netdb.h> #include <string.h> #include <iostream> using namespace std; #define PORT 1238 #define MESSAGE "Yow!!! • Reasonably faster way to traverse a directory tree in Python?

    - by Sridhar Ratnakumar
Assuming that the given directory tree is of reasonable size: say an open source project like Twisted or Python, what is the fastest way to traverse and iterate over the absolute path of all files/directories inside that directory? I want to do this from within Python (subprocess is allowed). os.path.walk is slow. So I tried ls -lR and tree -fi. For a project with about 8337 files (including tmp, pyc, test, .svn files): $ time tree -fi > /dev/null real 0m0.170s user 0m0.044s sys 0m0.123s $ time ls -lR > /dev/null real 0m0.292s user 0m0.138s sys 0m0.152s $ time find . > /dev/null real 0m0.074s user 0m0.017s sys 0m0.056s $ tree appears to be faster than ls -lR (though ls -R is faster than tree, but it does not give full paths). find is the fastest. Can anyone think of a faster and/or better approach? On Windows, I may simply ship a 32-bit binary tree.exe or ls.exe if necessary. Update 1: Added find

  • How can I exclude words with apostrophes when reading into a table of strings?

    - by rearden
ifstream fin; string temp; fin.open("engldict.txt"); if(fin.is_open()) { bool apos = false; while(!fin.eof()) { getline(fin, temp, '\n'); if(temp.length() > 2 && temp.length() < 7) { for(unsigned int i = 0; i < temp.length(); i++) { if(temp.c_str()[i] == '\'') apos = true; } if(!apos) dictionary.insert(temp); } } } This code gives me a runtime error: Unhandled exception at 0x00A50606 in Word Jumble.exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation reading location 0x00000014. and throws me a break point at: size_type size() const _NOEXCEPT { // return length of sequence return (this->_Mysize); } within the xstring header. This exception is thrown no matter what character I use, so long as it is present within the words I am reading in. I am aware that it is probably a super simple fix, but I just really need another set of eyes to see it. Thanks in advance.

  • Android : How to Remove all capital letters from image filenames before importing into Eclipse

    - by Hubert
As you know, you can't have capital letters in your image filenames that you use in your Android project (Ressource/Drawables folder). I've got hundreds of small images (GOOG.GIF as an exemple) that I need to import into my project (I usually do a simple drag and drop from a desktop folder into Eclipse). So here's the question : How do I quickly change all the filenames (replace all capital letters to lower case) before importing into my project ? So, GOOG.GIF becomes goog.gif AAPL.GIF becomes aapl.gif etc. Any quick command line solution or another tool to do just that ? Thanks.

  • How do I turn off automatic saving of a vim file with a ~ suffix

    - by Leonard
In my environment, I share vim configuration with other developers (and have my own configuration additions as well) in various .vimrc files. Some places in the environment, I edit a file in vim and automagically a copy of that file with a trailing tilde suffix appears. What vim options control this? I'd like to turn the feature off, as it just clutters up my directories and spoils auto-completion on the command line. Thanks.

  • How to access files in interior of an iPhone App?

    - by mxg
Hi everyone! I need in a iPhone app to access files that the app is build with(.plist etc). There's an hardcoded way to do this: NSString *appDir = [[[NSSearchPathForDirectoriesInDomains(NSDocumentDirectory, NSUserDomainMask, YES) objectAtIndex:0] stringByDeletingLastPathComponent] stringByAppendingPathComponent:appFolder]; where appFolder is the name of folder app, like "test.app". After the appDir is known, to access files is simple. Is there any other, not-hardcoded way to have access to files form the app? Thanks in Advance!

  • Make Directory.GetFiles() ignore protected folders

    - by Kryptic
    Hello Everyone, I'm using the Directory.GetFiles() method to get a list of files to operate on. This method throws an UnauthorizedAccessException for example when trying to access a protected folder. I would like it to simply skip over such folders and continue. How can I accomplish this with either Directory.GetFiles (preferably) or another method? Update: Here is the code that throws the exception. I am asking the user to select a directory and then retrieving the list of files. I commented out the code (so this is now whole method) that iterates through the files and the problem still occurs. The exception is thrown on the Directory.GetFiles() line. FolderBrowserDialog fbd = new FolderBrowserDialog(); DialogResult dr = fbd.ShowDialog(); if (dr == System.Windows.Forms.DialogResult.Cancel) return; string directory = fbd.SelectedPath; string[] files = Directory.GetFiles(directory, "*.html", SearchOption.AllDirectories);

  • How to copy files without slowing down my app?

    - by Kevin Gebhardt
I have a bunch of little files in my assets which need to be copied to the SD-card on the first start of my App. The copy code i got from here placed in an IntentService works like a charm. However, when I start to copy many litte files, the whole app gets increddible slow (I'm not really sure why by the way), which is a really bad experience for the user on first start. As I realised other apps running normal in that time, I tried to start a child process for the service, which didn't work, as I can't acess my assets from another process as far as I understood. Has anybody out there an idea how a) to copy the files without blocking my app b) to get through to my assets from a private process (process=":myOtherProcess" in Manifest) or c) solve the problem in a complete different way Edit: To make this clearer: The copying allready takes place in a seperate thread (started automaticaly by IntentService). The problem is not to separate the task of copying but that the copying in a dedicated thread somehow affects the rest of the app (e.g. blocking to many app-specific resources?) but not other apps (so it's not blocking the whole CPU or someting) Edit2: Problem solved, it turns out, there wasn't really a problem. See my answer below.

  • Best practice for web server user/group permissions

    - by Poe
What's the best practice in a secure manner to setup the user/group and permissions? Here's what we currently have; web server runs as www/www. Fastcgi Php runs as www/www. User's shell/ftp account is username/username. We want the user to be able to have full access to all files, including those created by the web server 'www' from the shell or ftp. Similarly, we want the scripts run by fastcgi/php to be able to create files in user created directories and modify user created files.
