    When I run some php code I've written, I get the following message: You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'condition, price, name, email) VALUES('Fake Title', 'Fake Subhead', 'Fake Author' at line 1 I do not see anything wrong with my syntax, however, which is like: mysql_query("INSERT INTO table (x1, x2, x3) VALUES('$y1', '$y2', '$y3')"); Any ideas?

    Hi, I have a general question about best practice in OO Delphi. Currently, I but a try finally block around everywhere, where I create an object, to free that object after usage (to avoid memory leaks). E.g.: aObject := TObject.Create; try aOBject.AProcedure(); ... finally aObject.Free; end; instead of: aObject := TObject.Create; aObject.AProcedure(); .. aObject.Free; To you think, it is good practice, or too much overhead? And what about the performance?

    I have a DELETE query which deletes a record from a mysql db. is there any way to make sure if the delete was performed or not? I mean, for a query to FIND stuff you do $res=mysql_query($var); $nr=mysql_num_rows($res); and you get nr of rows returned. Is there any similiar method for deletion of records? Thanks

In fact i have create tableI with this structures(A as int(11) autoincrement, B as varchar) TableII ( A_2 as int(11) auto increment, B_2 as varchar, A as int(11).     i want to create a php with mysql to do the following: lets say that i have a shop i want to rent, rent will be weekly or monthly. I'm searching for the best way to create this table, so i can do easy queries to calculate free weeks or months. EDIT let say i have ID, START_DATE,RENING_TYPE,CLIENT_ID where Start_date is the start date for renting, and RENTING_TYPE is weekly or monthly how should i run a query to know all the empty weeks or month so new clients may reserve that week/month for example a client reserve July month another client reserve the first week in June, if a new client logged in to my system and want to check all the available weeks/months, how can i achieve that ?

    I've set up a basic html/php submission form where people can register for our event, but need a way to replace the submission form webpage with one that reads something like "We have reached our registration limit" when we reach a certain number of submitted forms. Our database is MySQL (if that makes a difference) I've looked around on the web but people either say to count the entries by hand, or the ones that do have an automated system use CMS like drupal or joomla. Is it possible to setup an automated script that will do this?

    For clarification, are you able to use MySQL this way to sort? ORDER BY CompanyID = XXX DESC What I am trying to do is use one sql query to sort everything where X = Y, in this case, where CompanyID = XXX. All values where CompanyID is not XXX should come after all the results where CompanyID = XXX. I don't want to limit my query but I do want to sort a particular company above other listings.

  • why is my centos, nginx, php,mysql server using so much memory

    i'm not sure where the problem lies. I have: centos 6 mysql php php-fpm wordpress (1 site). this is a dedicated server i'm learning on. as soon as i ran the web url the memory slammed to 125% of a 512k server, i had to upgrade to 1gig, so i'm not sure where the problem lies. I thought by switching to nginx from apache i would have more memory free, but i'm still stuck with the problem. before launching the site with nginx and mysqld running the site was about 5% memory. I reanamed my "my-small.cnf" to my.cnf and put in my /etc folder where the original was, but that seems not to have done it. after looking at my TOP results, i'm starting to think it may be php-fpm eating my memory, but not sure. is php-fpm the preferend way or is there something better to use.
