• Trying to set PC clock programmatically just before Daylight Saving Time ends

Ensure PC is set to automatically adjust clock for daylight savings time. (For this timezone, daylight savings time ends at 3am on 4 Apr 2010.) 3) add following code : public void SetNewDateTime(DateTime dt) { Microsoft.VisualBasic.DateAndTime.Today = dt; // ignores time component Microsoft.VisualBasic.DateAndTime.TimeOfDay = dt; // ignores date component } private void button1_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { DateTime dt = new DateTime(2010, 4, 5, 5, 0, 0); // XX SetNewDateTime(dt); // XX System.Threading.Thread.Sleep(500); DateTime dt2 = new DateTime(2010, 4, 4, 1, 0, 0); SetNewDateTime(dt2); } 4) When button 1 is clicked, the PC clock eventually shows 2am, whereas 1 am was expected.   Hi, I have and old content database which i restored in my sharepoint 2007. But whenver i try to access web sites in my sharepoint i get error : 500 INTERNAL SERVER ERROR. I can see the old content database at :- Sharepoint Centre Admin-Application Management-Content databases. There is no difference in the version of the old content database. My current content database is working fine.Its just the old content database is not. What could be the reason? Thanks, Jude Aloysius.

• UIDatePicker date method is picking wrong date: iPhone Dev

  Hi, I am getting very strange behaviour on UIDatePicker. I have a view with date picker declared in .h file as IBOutlet UIDatePicker *datePicker; with property nonatomic and retain. datePicker is properly linked in IB file. In the code I am setting the minimum, maximum, initial date and action to call for UICOntrolEventValueChanged using following code If (!currentDate) { initialDate = [NSDate date]; } else { initialDate = currentdate; } [datePicker setMinimumDate:[NSDate date]]; [datePicker setMaximumDate:[[NSDate date] addTimeInterval:5 * 365.25 * 24 * 60 * 60]]; // to get upto 5 years [datePicker setDate:initialDate animated:YES]; [datePicker addTarget:self action:@selector(getDatePickerValue:) forControlEvents:UIControlEventValueChanged]; In getDatePickerValue, I get the new date using datePicker.date. When the view is closed (using a done button), I get the current value of the date using datePicker.date. Now if the view is called with no 'currentDate', the picker returns 'todays date'. This is what happens the 'first' time my pickerView is called. Each subsequent call to the view, with no 'current date' gives me a different and later date from today. So, first time I get today's date say 9 Jun 2010 second time datePicker.date returns 10 Jun 2010 third time 11 Jun 2010 and so on. Though its not always incremental, but mostly it is. I have put NSLogs, and verified the initial date is set correctly. The problem is only on the device (on OS 3.0), the issue is not replicated on simulator. I can't find what I have done wrong. I hope somebody else has come across similar problem and can help me resolve this.

  I run a specialized news site and am trying to apply a little bit of SEO sauce to it. One of the most important things I hear is to avoid duplication of content. I've covered all the basics but I'm stuck with ordering of content. As an example, the archive of the site is orderable by date, views, and rating. Since we don't have that many news items, an archive page for a particular day has usually only a couple of items, so the following URLs all have the same content, albeit in different ordering: /news/archive/2010/05/16/ /news/archive/2010/05/16/?o=views /news/archive/2010/05/16/?o=rating Do search machines penalize this particular kind of duplication of content? And if yes, what's the best way to avoid said penalty? <link rel="canonical" />? Tell Google & Co. to ingore the o parameter? Marking the ordering links with nofollow? Only allow the indexation of the date-ordered archive sites through robots.txt (not sure if this is even possible)?

It need to return as error message back to php. The stored procedure should return as abc,def,xyz are duplicate. I tried something like this. This will not work it has more than 1 set of duplicate records. • git rebase without changing commit timestamps

  Would it make sense to perform git rebase while preserving the commit timestamps? I believe a consequence would be that the new branch will not necessarily have commit dates chronologically. Is that theoretically possible at all? (e.g. using plumbing commands; just curious here) If it is theoretically possible, then is it possible in practice with rebase, not to change the timestamps? For example, assume I have the following tree: master <jun 2010> | : : : oldbranch <feb 1984> : / oldcommit <jan 1984> Now, if I rebase oldbranch on master, the date of the commit changes from feb 1984 to jun 2010. Is it possible to change that behaviour so that the commit timestamp is not changed? In the end I would thus obtain: oldbranch <feb 1984> / master <jun 2010> | : Would that make sense at all? Is it even allowed in git to have a history where an old commit has a more recent commit as a parent? Edit A crucial question of Von C helped me understand what is going on: when your rebase, the committer's timestamp changes, but not the author's timestamp, which suddenly all makes sense. So my question was actually not precise enough. The answer is that rebase actually doesn't change the author's timestamps (you don't need to do anything for that), which suits me perfectly.

• Javascript array of dates - not iterating properly (jquery ui datepicker)

  Hi I have some code which builds an array of date ranges. I then call a function, passing it a date, and compare that date with dates in the array. I'm doing it this way because the dates are stored in a cms, and I'm manipulating the JqueryUI datepicker. Unfortunately my code only checks the first date range in the array - and I can't figure out why! I think it's probably something simple (/stupid!) - if anyone can shed some light on it I'd be extremely grateful! So I want to know the url to which the previous url redirected. I know that when a url redirects to other url, the server sends an intermediate response containing a header field that tells the url which it is going to redirect but I am not receiving that intermediate response through the url.openConnection(); method.

  I have a multidimensional array, and I would have multiple arrays within it. Some of those arrays contain multiple arrays within them as well, and I would like to count how many arrays are within the second array(the date). This is an example of the structure of the multidimensional array: $_SESSION['final_shipping'][04/03/2010][book] $_SESSION['final_shipping'][04/12/2010][magazine] $_SESSION['final_shipping'][04/12/2010][cd] This is the foreach statement I am currently using to count how many of the second array(the one with the dates) exists. foreach($_SESSION['final_shipping'] as $date_key => $date_value) { foreach ($date_value as $product_key => $product_value) { echo 'There are ' . count($date_key) .   Ok, I'm trying to play an HTML audio code on iPad but does not work. • Can't serve HTML5 video through PHP on Safari/Mac (5.0)

  I'm encountering a strange bug in Safari where, when I serve MP4 video through PHP (to obfuscate the file beneath the document root with a token-based authentication system), Safari for some reason fires the <video>'s onerror event, and the video never loads (I can't get any useful information out of the event object sent to onerror — everything is undefined). When I access the PHP script directly (i.e., the video is not embedded in a page), the video controls appear momentarily before flashing to a QuickTime question mark. When I access the MP4 file directly, it works as expected. What's bizarre is that the embedded video works perfectly in the latest version of Chrome for Mac. EDIT: Also, when I change the content disposition to "attachment", Safari will download the MP4 file just fine.

• The same C# code produces different output in Visio Professional and Premium

  I have built a simple conversion Add In, but its behavior is unfortunately different with the different Visio Editions (Visio 2010 Professional and Visio 2010 Premium). The Add In takes a Process-Diagram created with Shapes from Stencil_1.vss and creates a new slightly different Process-Diagram with Shapes from Stencil_2.vsd. It loops through a Visio page and for each shape founded creates a new shapes from new master shape (from Stencil_2.vsd) and drop it into the new page. Geometry, captions etc. are the same, only the shape-appearance is changed. Below is the source diagram: When I run the code into Visio 2010 Professional the swimlane shapes are drawn correctly. When I run the same code from Visio Premium the swimlane appearance and layout are mismatched: Both times i drop the SAME Shape("Swimlane" from the same stencil) into the Page with the SAME Code fragment: Visio.Master vm = swimlane_stencil.Masters.get_ItemU(@"Swimlane"); Visio.Shape TargetShape = targetPage.Drop(vm, shape_x, shape_y); How could I ensure, that the code produces any time the same (correct) output? Must I disable any (premium)features in the swimlane-shapesheet?

• Parsing localized date strings in PHP

  Hi, I have some code (it's part of a wordpress plugin) which takes a text string, and the format specifier given to date(), and attempts to parse it into an array containing hour, minute, second, day, month, year. Being the first event in South Florida the reception was phenomenon and the group of speakers from keynote by Joel Oleson to session’s speakers from well renowned speakers like John Holliday, Randy Disgrill, Richard Harbridge, Ameet Phadnis, Fabian Williams, Chris McNulty, Jaime Velez to organizers like Michael Hinckley amongst others. With my Business Intelligence (BI) presentation being on the last track of the day, I spent very quality time networking with these great guys and getting the insider scope on International SharePoint Community from Joel and his son which was mesmerizing. I had a very active audience to a point where we couldn’t accommodate all the contents within the 1hr allocated time because they were very engaged and wanted a deep dive session on news features like PowerPivot, enhancements on PerformancePoint, Excel Services amongst others in order to understand the business value and how SharePoint 2010 is making the self-service BI become a reality.   As Glados would say at the end of Portal “I’m still alive…”.  I am around, but I’m just not posting as frequently as I should.  I am trying to get acclimated to my new job, planning SharePoint Saturday New York City and Women in SharePoint plus trying to lead a normal life doing normal chores and hang out with my boyfriend.  What does this mean?  Well I’m trying to cut back to one or two events a month, which will include Heartland Developer Conference, Best Practices Conference, SPS Ozarks, SPS NYC (not speaking, running), and maybe SPS Denver and/or SPS East Bay.  So with the new job acclimation the blog suffers and twitter is getting less loven.  I’m only posting on twitter at night.  I will try to blog when I can as I see more 2010 and 2007 things that I find interesting to share.  I guess when you are a new employee you try to figure out what’s going on the first few months.  It’s really hard to post on SharePoint issue while that happens.  I’m really sorry guys and I will try harder to post at least a couple times a month (and maybe moderate comments  slightly better).  I hope that you all have a good weekend.
