  • Autohotkey to map F5 to Shift+Home and then F5 - eventually executing a single line query in sql server?

    Reading the syntax from autohotkey, I am trying to achieve this. But the first step of selecting the entire line is not working:- F5:: send {Shift Home} return I have tried few others too, but its not working. This is not sending Shift+Home combination on pressing F5 key. Please tell me what's wrong with this? Also if possible, what to do next?, as if I will write send {F5} I believe, it will recursively fire this script again and again..

  • My tricky SQL Update query not working so well.

    I am trying to update a table in my database with another row from another table. I have two parameters one being the ID and another being the row number (as you can select which row you want from the GUI) this part of the code works fine, this returns one column of a single row.   • In ruby on rails, is it possible to do a sum query with group by using the find_each batching?

    I'm loading data from my database and I'm doing a sum calculation with a group by. ElectricityReading.sum(:electricity_value, :group => "electricity_timestamp", :having => ["electricity_timestamp = '2010-02-14 23:30:00'"]) My data sets are extremely large, 100k upwards so I was wondering if its possible to use the find_each to batch this to help with memory overhead. I can write the batching manually use limit and offset I guess but I'd like to avoid that if the code already exists.

    In my database I calculate distance between nodes with: SELECT DISTINCT dest.name, AsText(orig.location), AsText(dest.location), round((glength(linestringfromwkb(linestring((orig.location), (dest.location)))))) as distance FROM nodes orig, nodes dest WHERE orig.name='GERP' I would like to add "and distance < dest.visibility" at the end, but am told that distance is an unknown column. Any insight very much appreciated.

  • MS SQL Server slows down over time?

    Have any of you experienced the following, and have you found a solution: A large part of our website's back-end is MS SQL Server 2005. Every week or two weeks the site begins running slower - and I see queries taking longer and longer to complete in SQL. I have a query that I like to use: USE master select text,wait_time,blocking_session_id AS "Block", percent_complete, * from sys.dm_exec_requests CROSS APPLY sys.dm_exec_sql_text(sql_handle) AS s2 order by start_time asc Which is fairly useful... it gives a snapshot of everything that's running right at that moment against your SQL server. What's nice is that even if your CPU is pegged at 100% for some reason and Activity Monitor is refusing to load (I'm sure some of you have been there) this query still returns and you can see what query is killing your DB. When I run this, or Activity Monitor during the times that SQL has begun to slow down I don't see any specific queries causing the issue - they are ALL running slower across the board. If I restart the MS SQL Service then everything is fine, it speeds right up - for a week or two until it happens again. Nothing that I can think of has changed, but this just started a few months ago... Ideas? --Added Please note that when this database slowdown happens it doesn't matter if we are getting 100K page views an hour (busier time of day) or 10K page views an hour (slow time) the queries all take a longer time to complete than normal. The server isn't really under stress - the CPU isn't high, the disk usage doesn't seem to be out of control... it feels like index fragmentation or something of the sort but that doesn't seem to be the case. As far as pasting results of the query I pasted above I really can't do that. The Query above lists the login of the user performing the task, the entire query, etc etc.. and I'd really not like to hand out the names of my databases, tables, columns and the logins online :)... I can tell you that the queries running at that time are normal, standard queries for our site that run all the time, nothing out of the norm.

    Is there an easy way to get metrics on all processes that start with the letters XYZ? I have about 80 processes that I have to monitor individually that all start with the prefix XYZ. I have created a query using the sigar shell: ps State.Name.sw=XYZ, which will give me a list of the processes that I want. What I need to do is define this list of processes through said query and collect and track statistics from the Process service: http://support.hyperic.com/display/hypcomm/Process+service What I need is 3 or 4 key statistics for each of the XYZ processes defined by my query to show up as graphs in the web front end. Note: Hyperic HQ server is installed on a windows machine and I'm monitoring a Linux box via an agent.   • What are the licensing differences between Windows 8 Professional x64 fqc-05955 and fqc-05956?

    If I do a search for Windows 8 Professional x64 in my country, the only version I can find is having the code fqc-05955 and is labeled OEM. If I perform same search on amazon.com, the only version I can find is having the code fqc-05956 and is labeled System Builder. There's not much information about licensing of Windows 8 that I could find. According to this article when using System Builder it can be transferred from one computer to another. What are the differences in licensing between those 2? Is fqc-05955 transferable from one hardware to another like System Builder is? Can I install fqc-05955 on a computer I already own that has no prior windows licensing? I am asking this, since many stores that sell fqc-05955 say it can only be bough with a computer.   • creating TAGS for Ruby and emacs

    I ran the following from my top level Ruby on Rails directory find . -name "*.rb" | etags - Then within emacs I visited that tag file. This works reasonably well to find some of the methods and most of the files, however it is having trouble finding some of the extra methods/classes that I use in my helpers directory. e.g. I have a file in my helpers dir called my_foo_helper.rb If I search my tags for that file, it finds it. However, if I try to find a tag for one of the methods within that module it doesn't find it at all. If I use Aptana or something like that it seems to be able to locate those methods. Any thoughts?   • Excel 2007 - Adding line breaks in a cell and no line over 50 characters

    I have notes stored in an excel cell. I add line breaks and dates every time I add a new note. I need to copy this to another program, but it has a line limit of 50 characters. I want a line break for each new date and for when each date's comment goes over 50 characters. I'm able to do one or the other, but I can't figure out how to do both. I'd prefer words not to be split up, but at this point I don't care. Below is some sample input. If needed for a SUBSTITUTE or REPLACE function, I could add a ~ before each date in my input as a delimiter. Sample Input: 07/03 - FU on query. Copies and history included. CC to Jane Doe and John Public 06/29 - Cust claiming not to have these and wrong PO on query form. Responded with inv sent dates and locations, correct PO values, and copies. 06/27 - New ticket opened using query form 06/12 - Opened ticket with helpdesk asking status 05/21 - Copy submitted to [email protected] 05/14 - Copy sent to John Public and [email protected] Ideal Output: 07/03 - FU on query.   • Cisco 3560+ipservices -- IGMP snooping issue with TTL=1

    I've got a C3560 with Enhanced (IPSERVICES) image, routing multicast between its VLANs with no external multicast router. It's serving a test environment where developers may generate multicast traffic on arbitrary addresses. Everything is working fine except when someone sends out multicast traffic with TTL=1, in which case the multicast packet suppression fails and the traffic is broadcast to all members of the VLAN. It looks to me like because the TTL is 1, the multicast routing subsystem doesn't see the packets, so it doesn't create a mroute table entry. If I send out packets with TTL=2 briefly, then switch to TTL=1 packets, they are filtered correctly until the mroute entry expires. My question: is there some trick to getting the switch to filter the TTL=1 packets, or am I out of luck? Below are the relevant parts of the config, with a representative VLAN interface.   • Issue with Autofac 2 and MVC2 using HttpRequestScoped

    I'm running into an issue with Autofac2 and MVC2. The problem is that I am trying to resolve a series of dependencies where the root dependency is HttpRequestScoped. When I try to resolve my UnitOfWork (which is Disposable), Autofac fails because the internal disposer is trying to add the UnitOfWork object to an internal disposal list which is null. Maybe I'm registering my dependencies with the wrong lifetimes, but I've tried many different combinations with no luck. The only requirement I have is that MyDataContext lasts for the entire HttpRequest. I've posted a demo version of the code for download here.   • Opening an SQL CE file at runtime with Entity Framework 4

    I am getting started with Entity Framework 4, and I an creating a demo app as a learning exercise. The app is a simple documentation builder, and it uses a SQL CE store. Each documentation project has its own SQL CE data file, and the user opens one of these files to work on a project. The EDM is very simple. A documentation project is comprised of a list of subjects, each of which has a title, a description, and zero or more notes. So, my entities are Subject, which contains Title and Text properties, and Note, which has Title and Text properties. There is a one-to-many association from Subject to Note. I am trying to figure out how to open an SQL CE data file. A data file must match the schema of the SQL CE database created by EF4's Create Database Wizard, and I will implement a New File use case elsewhere in the app to implement that requirement. Right now, I am just trying to get an existing data file open in the app. I have reproduced my existing 'Open File' code below. I have set it up as a static service class called File Services. The code isn't working quite yet, but there is enough to show what I am trying to do. I am trying to hold the ObjectContext open for entity object updates, disposing it when the file is closed. So, here is my question: Am I on the right track? What do I need to change to make this code work with EF4? Is there an example of how to do this properly? Thanks for your help. The first one opens fine, but when I close it and do the process again to show a different one the app falls over with a memory error (it's running on a samsung galaxy s3 - so shouldnt be an issue).     So, I am writing code to parse and IP Address expression and turn it into a regular expression that could be run against and IP Address string and return a boolean response. I wrote the code in C# (OO) and it was 110 lines of code. I am trying to compare the amount of code and the expressiveness of C# to F# (I am a C# programmer and a noob at F#). I don't want to post both the C# and F#, just because I don't want to clutter the post. If needed, I will do so. Anyway, I will give an example.   • Do Repeat Yourself in Unit Tests

    Don’t get me wrong I’m a big supporter of the DRY (Don’t Repeat Yourself) Principle except however when it comes to unit tests. Why? Well, in my opinion a unit test should be a self-contained group of actions with the intent to test a very specific piece of code and should not depend on externals shared with other unit tests. In a typical unit test we can divide its code in two major groups: Preparation of preconditions for the code under test; Invocation of the code under test. It’s in the first group that you are tempted to refactor common code in several unit tests into helper methods that can then be called in each one of them. Another way to not duplicate code is to use the built-in infrastructure of some unit test frameworks such as SetUp/TearDown methods that automatically run before and after each unit test. I must admit that in the past I was guilty of both charges but what at first seemed a good idea since I was removing code duplication turnout to offer no added value and even complicate the process when a given test fails. We love unit tests because of their rapid feedback when something goes wrong. However, this feedback requires most of the times reading the code for the failed test. Given this, what do you prefer? To read a single method or wander through several methods like SetUp/TearDown and private common methods. I say it again, do repeat yourself in unit tests. It may feel wrong at first but I bet you won’t regret it later.
