  • ASP.NET MVC 2: Updating a Linq-To-Sql Entity with an EntitySet

    - by Simon
I have a Linq to Sql Entity which has an EntitySet. In my View I display the Entity with it's properties plus an editable list for the child entites. The user can dynamically add and delete those child entities. The DefaultModelBinder works fine so far, it correctly binds the child entites. Now my problem is that I just can't get Linq To Sql to delete the deleted child entities, it will happily add new ones but not delete the deleted ones. I have enabled cascade deleting in the foreign key relationship, and the Linq To Sql designer added the "DeleteOnNull=true" attribute to the foreign key relationships. If I manually delete a child entity like this: myObject.Childs.Remove(child); context.SubmitChanges(); This will delete the child record from the DB. But I can't get it to work for a model binded object. I tried the following: // this does nothing public ActionResult Update(int id, MyObject obj) // obj now has 4 child entities { var obj2 = _repository.GetObj(id); // obj2 has 6 child entities if(TryUpdateModel(obj2)) //it sucessfully updates obj2 and its childs { _repository.SubmitChanges(); // nothing happens, records stay in DB } else ..... return RedirectToAction("List"); } and this throws an InvalidOperationException, I have a german OS so I'm not exactly sure what the error message is in english, but it says something along the lines of that the entity needs a Version (Timestamp row?) or no update check policies. I have set UpdateCheck="Never" to every column except the primary key column. public ActionResult Update(MyObject obj) { _repository.MyObjectTable.Attach(obj, true); _repository.SubmitChanges(); // never gets here, exception at attach } I've read alot about similar "problems" with Linq To Sql, but it seems most of those "problems" are actually by design. So am I right in my assumption that this doesn't work like I expect it to work? Do I really have to manually iterate through the child entities and delete, update and insert them manually? For such a simple object this may work, but I plan to create more complex objects with nested EntitySets and so on. This is just a test to see what works and what not. So far I'm disappointed with Linq To Sql (maybe I just don't get it). Would be the Entity Framework or NHibernate a better choice for this scenario? Or would I run into the same problem?

  • How do I use the gravity vector to correctly transform scene for augmented reality?

    - by gpdawson
    I'm trying figure out how to get an OpenGL specified object to be displayed correctly according to the device orientation (ie. according to the gravity vector from the accelerometer, and heading from compass). The GLGravity sample project has an example which is almost like this (despite ignoring heading), but it has some glitches. For example, the teapot jumps 180deg as the device viewing angle crosses the horizon, and it also rotates spuriously if you tilt the device from portrait into landscape. This is fine for the context of this app, as it just shows off an object and it doesn't matter that it does these things. But it means that the code just doesn't work when you attempt to emulate real life viewing of an OpenGL object according to the device's orientation. What happens is that it almost works, but the heading rotation you apply from the compass gets "corrupted" by the spurious additional rotations seen in the GLGravity example project. Can anyone provide sample code that shows how to adjust correctly for the device orientation (ie. gravity vector), or to fix the GLGravity example so that it doesn't include spurious heading changes? //Clear matrix to be used to rotate from the current referential to one based on the gravity vector bzero(matrix, sizeof(matrix)); matrix[3][3] = 1.0; //Setup first matrix column as gravity vector matrix[0][0] = accel[0] / length; matrix[0][1] = accel[1] / length; matrix[0][2] = accel[2] / length; //Setup second matrix column as an arbitrary vector in the plane perpendicular to the gravity vector {Gx, Gy, Gz} defined by by the equation "Gx * x + Gy * y + Gz * z = 0" in which we arbitrarily set x=0 and y=1 matrix[1][0] = 0.0; matrix[1][1] = 1.0; matrix[1][2] = -accel[1] / accel[2]; length = sqrtf(matrix[1][0] * matrix[1][0] + matrix[1][1] * matrix[1][1] + matrix[1][2] * matrix[1][2]); matrix[1][0] /= length; matrix[1][1] /= length; matrix[1][2] /= length; //Setup third matrix column as the cross product of the first two matrix[2][0] = matrix[0][1] * matrix[1][2] - matrix[0][2] * matrix[1][1]; matrix[2][1] = matrix[1][0] * matrix[0][2] - matrix[1][2] * matrix[0][0]; matrix[2][2] = matrix[0][0] * matrix[1][1] - matrix[0][1] * matrix[1][0]; //Finally load matrix glMultMatrixf((GLfloat*)matrix);

  • Why 32-bit color EGL configurations fail with EGL_BAD_MATCH on Moto Droid?

    - by Gilead
    I'm trying to figure out why certain EGL configurations cause eglMakeCurrent() call to return EGL_BAD_MATCH on Motorola Droid running Android 2.1u1. This is a full list of hardware-accelerated EGL configurations (those with EGL_CONFIG_CAVEAT == EGL_NONE) as there's a few others with EGL_CONFIG_CAVEAT == EGL_SLOW_CONFIG but those are backed by PixelFlinger 1.2 meaning they're using software renderer. ID: 0 RGB: 8, 8, 8 Alpha: 8 Depth: 24 Stencil: 8 // BAD MATCH ID: 1 RGB: 8, 8, 8 Alpha: 8 Depth: 0 Stencil: 0 // BAD MATCH ID: 2 RGB: 8, 8, 8 Alpha: 8 Depth: 24 Stencil: 8 // BAD MATCH ID: 3 RGB: 8, 8, 8 Alpha: 8 Depth: 24 Stencil: 8 // BAD MATCH ID: 4 RGB: 8, 8, 8 Alpha: 8 Depth: 0 Stencil: 0 // BAD MATCH ID: 5 RGB: 8, 8, 8 Alpha: 8 Depth: 24 Stencil: 8 // BAD MATCH ID: 6 RGB: 5, 6, 5 Alpha: 0 Depth: 24 Stencil: 8 ID: 7 RGB: 5, 6, 5 Alpha: 0 Depth: 0 Stencil: 0 ID: 8 RGB: 5, 6, 5 Alpha: 0 Depth: 24 Stencil: 8 Clearly, all configurations with 32-bit color depth fail and all 16-bit ones are OK but: 1. Why? 2. WHY?! :) 3. How do I tell which ones would fail before actually trying to use them? The code below is as simple as it can get. I put if (v[0] == 6) there to check different configs, normally they're chosen by half-clever config matcher :) private void createSurface(SurfaceHolder holder) { egl = (EGL10)EGLContext.getEGL(); eglDisplay = egl.eglGetDisplay(EGL10.EGL_DEFAULT_DISPLAY); egl.eglInitialize(eglDisplay, null); int[] numConfigs = new int[1]; egl.eglChooseConfig(eglDisplay, new int[] { EGL10.EGL_NONE }, null, 0, numConfigs); EGLConfig[] configs = new EGLConfig[numConfigs[0]]; egl.eglChooseConfig(eglDisplay, new int[] { EGL10.EGL_NONE }, configs, numConfigs[0], numConfigs); int[] v = new int[1]; for (EGLConfig c : configs) { egl.eglGetConfigAttrib(eglDisplay, c, EGL10.EGL_CONFIG_ID, v); if (v[0] == 6) { eglConfig = c; } } eglContext = egl.eglCreateContext(eglDisplay, eglConfig, EGL10.EGL_NO_CONTEXT, null); if (eglContext == null || eglContext == EGL10.EGL_NO_CONTEXT) { throw new RuntimeException("Unable to create EGL context"); } eglSurface = egl.eglCreateWindowSurface(eglDisplay, eglConfig, holder, null); if (eglSurface == null || eglSurface == EGL10.EGL_NO_SURFACE) { throw new RuntimeException("Unable to create EGL surface"); } if (!egl.eglMakeCurrent(eglDisplay, eglSurface, eglSurface, eglContext)) { throw new RuntimeException("Unable to make EGL current"); } gl = (GL10)eglContext.getGL(); }

  • iPhone MapKit problems: viewForAnnotation inconsistently setting pinColor?

    - by blackkettle
Hi, I'm trying setup a map that displays different pin colors depending on the type/class of the location in question. I know this is a pretty common thing to do, but I'm having trouble getting the viewForAnnotation delegate to consistently update/set the pin color. I have a showThisLocation function that basically cycles through a list of AddressAnnotations and then based on the annotation class (bus stop, hospital, etc.) I set an if( myClass == 1){ [defaults setObject:@"1" forKey:@"currPinColor"]; [defaults synchronize]; NSLog(@"Should be %@!", [defaults objectForKey:@"currPinColor"]); } else if( myClass ==2 ){ [defaults setObject:@"2" forKey:@"currPinColor"]; [defaults synchronize]; NSLog(@"Should be %@!", [defaults objectForKey:@"currPinColor"]); } [_mapView addAnnotation:myCurrentAnnotation]; then my viewForAnnotation delegate looks like this, - (MKAnnotationView *) mapView:(MKMapView *)mapView viewForAnnotation:(id )annotation { if( annotation == mapView.userLocation ){ return nil; } NSUserDefaults *defaults = [NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults]; MKPinAnnotationView *annView = nil; annView = (MKPinAnnotationView*)[mapView dequeueReusableAnnotationViewWithIdentifier:@"currentloc"]; if( annView == nil ){ annView = [[MKPinAnnotationView alloc] initWithAnnotation:annotation reuseIdentifier:@"currentloc"]; } annView.pinColor = [defaults integerForKey:@"currPinColor"]; NSLog(@"Pin color: %d", [defaults integerForKey:@"currPinColor"]); annView.animatesDrop=TRUE; annView.canShowCallout = YES; annView.calloutOffset = CGPointMake(-5, 5); return annView; } The problem is that, although the NSLog statements in the "if" block always confirm that the color has been set, the delegate sometimes but not always ends up with the correct color. I've also noticed that what generally happens is that the first search for a new location will set all pins to the last color in the "if" block, but search for the same location again will set the pins to the correct color. I suspect I am not supposed to usen NSUserDefaults in this way, but I also tried to create my own subclass for MKAnnotation which included an additional property "currentPinColor", and while this allowed me to set the "currentPinColor", when I tried to access the "currentPinColor from the delegate method, the compiler complained that it didn't know anything about "currentPinColor in connection with MKAnnotation. Fair enough I guess, but then I tried to revise the delegate method, - (MKAnnotationView *) mapView:(MKMapView *)mapView viewForAnnotation:(id )annotation instead of the default - (MKAnnotationView *) mapView:(MKMapView *)mapView viewForAnnotation:(id )annotation at which point the compiler complained that it didn't know anything about the protocol for MyCustomMKAnnotation in this delegate context. What is the proper way to set the delegate method and/or MyCustomMKAnnotation, or what is the appropriate way to achieve consistent pinColor settings. I'm just about out of ideas for things to try here.

  • Unable to retrieve information form HP-UX pst_status object

    - by bogertron
I am attempting to get process information by using the HP-UX C/C++ library. After scouring the internet, I have discovered that HP-UX has the pstat.h header file which allows programmers to retrieve the process information. After attempting to understand code from the internet hp website, I attempted to create a little test sample to comprehend what the code does. I attempted to use example 3, however, I ran into several issues. The first issue came when I attempted to execute the following line of code: (void)printf("pid is %d, command is %s\n", pst[i].pst_pid, pst[i].pst_ucomm); When I attempted to print the string, I hit a memory fault. So I decided to attempt to see what the string is and came up with the following: #include <sys/param.h> #include <sys/pstat.h> #include <sys/unistd.h> #include <string.h> int main(int argc, char** argv) { #define BURST ((size_t)10) struct pst_status pst[BURST]; int i, count; int idx = 0; /* index within the context */ int index = 0; /* loop until count == 0, will occur all have been returned */ while ((count=pstat_getproc(pst, sizeof(pst[0]),BURST,idx))>0) { index = 0; printf("index: %d", index); /* got count (max of BURST) this time. process them */ while (pst[i].pst_ucomm[index] != '\0') { printf("%c", pst[i].pst_ucomm[index]); index++; } printf("\n"); for (i = 0; i < count; i++) { printf("pid is %d, command is \n", pst[i].pst_pid); } /* * now go back and do it again, using the next index after * the current 'burst' */ idx = pst[count-1].pst_idx + 1; } if (count == -1) perror("pstat_getproc()"); #undef BURST } Unfortunately, what happens is that I get the first process printed, then pid is 2, command is pid is 2, command is pid is 2, command is... I know that I must be doing something foolish since my C/C++ skills are not that great, but I cannot figure out what the issue is since the code is largely copied from the hp website. So here's the question(s) for clarity: 1. Why can't printf("%s", pst[i].pst_ucomm); handle strings? 2. Why can't I iterate over the processes in the system? Any help is greatly appreciated.

  • MSSQL: How to copy a file (pdf, doc, txt...) stored in a varbinary(max) field to a file in a CLR sto

    - by user193655
I ask this question as a followup of this question. A solution that uses bcp and xp_cmdshell, that is not my desired solution, has been posted here: stackoverflow.com/questions/828749/ms-sql-server-2005-write-varbinary-to-file-system (sorry i cannot post a second hyperlink since my reputation is les than 10). I am new to c# (since I am a Delphi developer) anyway I was able to create a simple CLR stored procedures by following a tutorial. My task is to move a file from the client file system to the server file system (the server can be accessed using remote IP, so I cannot use a shared folder as destination, this is why I need a CLR stored procedure). So I plan to: 1) store from Delphi the file in a varbinary(max) column of a temporary table 2) call the CLR stored procedure to create a file at the desired path using the data contained in the varbinary(max) field Imagine I need to move C:\MyFile.pdf to Z:\MyFile.pdf, where C: is a harddrive on local system and Z: is an harddrive on the server. I provide the code below (not working) that someone can modify to make it work? Here I suppose to have a table called MyTable with two fields: ID (int) and DATA (varbinary(max)). Please note it doesn't make a difference if the table is a real temporary table or just a table where I temporarly store the data. I would appreciate if some exception handling code is there (so that I can manage an "impossible to save file" exception). I would like to be able to write a new file or overwrite the file if already existing. [Microsoft.SqlServer.Server.SqlProcedure] public static void VarbinaryToFile(int TableId) { using (SqlConnection connection = new SqlConnection("context connection=true")) { connection.Open(); SqlCommand command = new SqlCommand("select data from mytable where ID = @TableId", connection); command.Parameters.AddWithValue("@TableId", TableId); // This was the sample code I found to run a query //SqlContext.Pipe.ExecuteAndSend(command); // instead I need something like this (THIS IS META_SYNTAX!!!): SqlContext.Pipe.ResultAsStream.SaveToFile('z:\MyFile.pdf'); } } (one subquestion is: is this approach coorect or there is a way to directly pass the data to the CLR stored procedure so I don't need to use a temp table?) If the subquestion's answer is No, could you describe the approach of avoiding a temp table? So is there a better way then the one I describe above (=temp table + Stored procedure)? A way to directly pass the dataastream from the client application to the CLR stored procedure? (my files can be any size but also very big)

  • How to debug nondeterministic access violation crash?

    - by Special Touch
Our C#/COM/C++ application is crashing and I need help debugging it. Running with gflags enabled and WinDbg attached, we determined the crashes are caused by an access violation, but we haven't been able to narrow it down any more than that. We are not seeing the issue on all machines; there are a couple of machines that seem to reproduce the issue frequently but not deterministically. We have observed the application crash from simply switching away from the application (say, Alt-Tab) and then back. Output from WinDbg is below. We have been trying to systematically comment out areas of code that could be causing the problem, but we haven't had much success yet. Any suggestions on what debugging steps or tools we should try? !analyze -v EXCEPTION_RECORD: ffffffff -- (.exr 0xffffffffffffffff) ExceptionAddress: 1a584ff2 (+0x1a584ff1) ExceptionCode: c0000005 (Access violation) ExceptionFlags: 00000000 NumberParameters: 2 Parameter[0]: 00000000 Parameter[1]: 1a584ff2 Attempt to read from address 1a584ff2 PROCESS_NAME: ProcessFiles.exe ERROR_CODE: (NTSTATUS) 0xc0000005 - The instruction at 0x%08lx referenced memory at 0x%08lx. • Defining a ContextMenu in a DataGridRow style

    - by Brent
    I'm trying to clean up some of my xaml in my views by moving a lot of the DataGrid styles into a ResourceDictionary. One of the things I'd like to move is the ContextMenu that is bound to some commands in the ViewModel. However, when I move the context menu to the ResourceDictionary, the commands are are never firing anymore, and I can't figure out why. I've defined the ContextMenu in the DataGridRow style so that when the user right clicks on the columnheader, no ContextMenu is shown... it will only be shown they right click on a row. Am I doing something wrong here? FYI I'm using VS 2010 RTM if that makes a difference. <Style x:Key="DataGridRowStyle" TargetType="{x:Type DataGridRow}"> <Setter Property="Height" Value="20"/> <Setter Property="ContextMenu"> <Setter.Value> <ContextMenu> <MenuItem Header="New" Command="{Binding RelativeSource={RelativeSource AncestorType=DataGrid}, Path=DataContext.NewCommand}"> <MenuItem.Icon> <Image Source="/Images/DocumentWhite(32N).png" Width="16" Height="16"/> </MenuItem.Icon> </MenuItem> <MenuItem Header="Open" Command="{Binding RelativeSource={RelativeSource AncestorType=DataGrid}, Path=DataContext.OpenCommand}"> <MenuItem.Icon> <Image Source="/Images/FolderOpenYellow(32N).png" Width="16" Height="16"/> </MenuItem.Icon> </MenuItem> <MenuItem Header="Delete" Command="{Binding RelativeSource={RelativeSource AncestorType=DataGrid}, Path=DataContext.DeleteCommand}"> <MenuItem.Icon> <Image Source="/Images/Delete(32N).png" Width="16" Height="16"/> </MenuItem.Icon> </MenuItem> </ContextMenu> </Setter.Value> </Setter> <Style.Triggers> <Trigger Property="IsMouseOver" Value="True"> <Setter Property="Background" Value="{StaticResource hoverGradient}"/> </Trigger> <Trigger Property="IsSelected" Value="True"> <Setter Property="Background" Value="{StaticResource BtnOverFill}"/> </Trigger> </Style.Triggers> </Style>

  • UIViewAnimation done by a UIViewController belonging to a UINavigationController?

    - by RickiG
Hi I have an UINavigationController which the user navigates with. When pushing a specific UIViewController onto the navigation stack, a "settings" button appear in the navigationBar. When the user clicks this button I would like to flip the current view/controller, i.e. everything on screen, including the navigationBar, over to a settings view. So I have a SettingsViewController which I would like to flip to from my CurrentViewController that lives on a navigationController stack. I get all kinds of strange behavior trying to do this, the UIViews belonging to the SettingsViewController will start to animate, sliding into place, the navigationButtons moves around, nothing acts as I would think. -(void)settingsHandler { SettingViewController *settingsView = [[SettingViewController alloc] init]; [UIView beginAnimations:nil context:nil]; [UIView setAnimationDuration:1.0]; [UIView setAnimationTransition:UIViewAnimationTransitionFlipFromRight forView:self.navigationController.view cache:YES]; [self.navigationController.view addSubview:settingsView.view]; [UIView commitAnimations]; } The above results in the views flipping correctly, but the subviews of the SettingsViewController are all positioned in (0, 0) and after the transition, they 'snap' into place? Is it because I instantiate and add my subviews in viewDidLoad, like this? - (void)viewDidLoad { UIImageView *imageBg = [[UIImageView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0.0f, 0.0f, 320.0f, 460.0f)]; [imageBg setImage:[UIImage imageNamed:@"background.png"]]; [self.view addSubview:imageBg]; [imageBg release]; SettingsSubview *switchView = [[SettingsSubview alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0.0f, 0.0f, 320.0f, 460.0f)]; [self.view addSubview:switchView]; [switchView release]; [super viewDidLoad]; } 1: How should I correctly do the "flip" transition, from within the UIViewController in the UINavigationController, to a new UIViewController and subsequently from the new UIViewController and back to the "original" UIViewController residing on the UINavigationControllers stack? 2: Should I use a different approach, than the "viewDidLoad" method, when instantiating and adding subviews to a UIViewController? -question 2 is more of a "best practice" thing. I have seen different ways of doing it and I am having trouble either finding or understanding the life-cycle documentation and the different threads and posts on the subject. I am missing the "best practice" examples. Thank You very much for any help given:)

  • Storing objects in the array

    - by Ockonal
Hello, I want to save boost signals objects in the map (association: signal name ? signal object). The signals signature is different, so the second type of map should be boost::any. map<string, any> mSignalAssociation; The question is how to store objects without defining type of new signal signature? typedef boost::signals2::signal<void (int KeyCode)> sigKeyPressed; mSignalAssociation.insert(make_pair("KeyPressed", sigKeyPressed())); // This is what I need: passing object without type definition mSignalAssociation["KeyPressed"] = (typename boost::signals2::signal<void (int KeyCode)>()); // One more trying which won't work. And I don't want use this sigKeyPressed mKeyPressed; mSignalAssociation["KeyPressed"] = mKeyPressed; All this tryings throw the error: /usr/include/boost/noncopyable.hpp: In copy constructor ‘boost::signals2::signal_base::signal_base(const boost::signals2::signal_base&)’: In file included from /usr/include/boost/signals2/detail/signals_common.hpp:17:0, /usr/include/boost/noncopyable.hpp:27:7: error: ‘boost::noncopyable_::noncopyable::noncopyable(const boost::noncopyable_::noncopyable&)’ is private /usr/include/boost/signals2/signal_base.hpp:22:5: error: within this context ---------- /usr/include/boost/signals2/detail/signal_template.hpp: In copy constructor ‘boost::signals2::signal1<void, int&, boost::signals2::optional_last_value<void>, int, std::less<int>, boost::function<void(int)>, boost::function<void(const boost::signals2::connection&, int)>, boost::signals2::mutex>::signal1(const boost::signals2::signal1<void, int, boost::signals2::optional_last_value<void>, int, std::less<int>, boost::function<void(int)>, boost::function<void(const boost::signals2::connection&, int)>, boost::signals2::mutex>&)’: In file included from /usr/include/boost/preprocessor/iteration/detail/iter/forward1.hpp:52:0, /usr/include/boost/signals2/detail/signal_template.hpp:578:5: note: synthesized method ‘boost::signals2::signal_base::signal_base(const boost::signals2::signal_base&)’ first required here from /usr/include/boost/signals2.hpp:16, --------- /usr/include/boost/signals2/preprocessed_signal.hpp: In copy constructor ‘boost::signals2::signal<void(int)>::signal(const boost::signals2::signal<void(int)>&)’: In file included from /usr/include/boost/signals2/signal.hpp:36:0, /usr/include/boost/signals2/preprocessed_signal.hpp:42:5: note: synthesized method ‘boost::signals2::signal1<void, int, boost::signals2::optional_last_value<void>, int, std::less<int>, boost::function<void(int)>, boost::function<void(const boost::signals2::connection&, int)>, boost::signals2::mutex>::signal1(const boost::signals2::signal1<void, int, boost::signals2::optional_last_value<void>, int, std::less<int>, boost::function<void(int)>, boost::function<void(const boost::signals2::connection&, int)>, boost::signals2::mutex>&)’ first required here from /home/ockonal/Workspace/Projects/Pseudoform-2/include/Core/Systems.hpp:6,

  • Question About Example In Robert C Martin's _Clean Code_

    - by Jonah
This is a question about the concept of a function doing only one thing. It won't make sense without some relevant passages for context, so I'll quote them here. They appear on pgs 37-38: To say this differently, we want to be able to read the program as though it were a set of TO paragraphs, each of which is describing the current level of abstraction and referencing subsequent TO paragraphs at the next level down. To include the setups and teardowns, we include setups, then we include the test page content, and then we include the teardowns. To include the setups, we include the suite setup if this is a suite, then we include the regular setup. It turns out to be very dif?cult for programmers to learn to follow this rule and write functions that stay at a single level of abstraction. But learning this trick is also very important. It is the key to keeping functions short and making sure they do “one thing.” Making the code read like a top-down set of TO paragraphs is an effective technique for keeping the abstraction level consistent. He then gives the following example of poor code: public Money calculatePay(Employee e) throws InvalidEmployeeType { switch (e.type) { case COMMISSIONED: return calculateCommissionedPay(e); case HOURLY: return calculateHourlyPay(e); case SALARIED: return calculateSalariedPay(e); default: throw new InvalidEmployeeType(e.type); } } and explains the problems with it as follows: There are several problems with this function. First, it’s large, and when new employee types are added, it will grow. Second, it very clearly does more than one thing. Third, it violates the Single Responsibility Principle7 (SRP) because there is more than one reason for it to change. Fourth, it violates the Open Closed Principle8 (OCP) because it must change whenever new types are added. Now my questions. To begin, it's clear to me how it violates the OCP, and it's clear to me that this alone makes it poor design. However, I am trying to understand each principle, and it's not clear to me how SRP applies. Specifically, the only reason I can imagine for this method to change is the addition of new employee types. There is only one "axis of change." If details of the calculation needed to change, this would only affect the submethods like "calculateHourlyPay()" Also, while in one sense it is obviously doing 3 things, those three things are all at the same level of abstraction, and can all be put into a TO paragraph no different from the example one: TO calculate pay for an employee, we calculate commissioned pay if the employee is commissioned, hourly pay if he is hourly, etc. So aside from its violation of the OCP, this code seems to conform to Martin's other requirements of clean code, even though he's arguing it does not. Can someone please explain what I am missing? Thanks.

  • Snort's problems in generating alert from Darpa 1998 intrusion detection dataset.

    - by manofseven2
Hi. I’m working on DARPA 1998 intrusion detection dataset. When I run snort on this dataset (outside.tcpdump file), snort don’t generate complete list of alerts. It means snort start from last few hours of tcpdump file and generate alerts about this section of file and all of packets in first hours are ignored. Another problem in generatin alert is in time stamp of generated alerts. This means when I run snort on a specific day of dataset, snort insert incorrect time stamp for that alert. The configuration and command line statement and other information about my research are: Snort version: 2.8.6 Operating system: windows XP Rule version: snortrules-snapshot-2860_s.tar.gz -———————————————————————— Command line: snort_2.8.6 c D:\programs\Snort_2.8.6\snort\etc\snort.conf -r d:\users\amir\docs\darpa\training_data\week_3\monday\outside.tcpdump -l D:\users\amir\current-task\research\thesis\snort\890230 -————————————————————————— Snort.config Hi. • SQL Server 2008: FileStream Insertion Failure w/ .NET 3.5SP1

    - by James Alexander
I've configured a db w/ a FileStream group and have a table w/ File type on it. When attempting to insert a streamed file and after I create the table row, my query to read the filepath out and the buffer returns a null file path. I can't seem to figure out why though. Here is the table creation script: /****** Object: Table [dbo].[JobInstanceFile] Script Date: 03/22/2010 18:05:36 ******/ SET ANSI_NULLS ON GO SET QUOTED_IDENTIFIER ON GO SET ANSI_PADDING ON GO CREATE TABLE [dbo].[JobInstanceFile]( [JobInstanceFileId] [int] IDENTITY(1,1) NOT NULL, [JobInstanceId] [int] NOT NULL, [File] [varbinary](max) FILESTREAM NULL, [FileId] [uniqueidentifier] ROWGUIDCOL NOT NULL, [Created] [datetime] NOT NULL, CONSTRAINT [PK_JobInstanceFile] PRIMARY KEY CLUSTERED ( [JobInstanceFileId] ASC )WITH (PAD_INDEX = OFF, STATISTICS_NORECOMPUTE = OFF, IGNORE_DUP_KEY = OFF, ALLOW_ROW_LOCKS = ON, ALLOW_PAGE_LOCKS = ON) ON [PRIMARY] FILESTREAM_ON [JobInstanceFilesGroup], UNIQUE NONCLUSTERED ( [FileId] ASC )WITH (PAD_INDEX = OFF, STATISTICS_NORECOMPUTE = OFF, IGNORE_DUP_KEY = OFF, ALLOW_ROW_LOCKS = ON, ALLOW_PAGE_LOCKS = ON) ON [PRIMARY] ) ON [PRIMARY] FILESTREAM_ON [JobInstanceFilesGroup] GO SET ANSI_PADDING OFF GO ALTER TABLE [dbo].[JobInstanceFile] ADD DEFAULT (newid()) FOR [FileId] GO Here's my proc I call to create the row before streaming the file: /****** Object: StoredProcedure [dbo].[JobInstanceFileCreate] Script Date: 03/22/2010 18:06:23 ******/ SET ANSI_NULLS ON GO SET QUOTED_IDENTIFIER ON GO create proc [dbo].[JobInstanceFileCreate] @JobInstanceId int, @Created datetime as insert into JobInstanceFile (JobInstanceId, FileId, Created) values (@JobInstanceId, newid(), @Created) select scope_identity() GO And lastly, here's the code I'm using: public int CreateJobInstanceFile(int jobInstanceId, string filePath) { using (var connection = new SqlConnection(ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings["ConsumerMarketingStoreFiles"].ConnectionString)) using (var fileStream = new FileStream(filePath, FileMode.Open)) { connection.Open(); var tran = connection.BeginTransaction(IsolationLevel.ReadCommitted); try { //create the JobInstanceFile instance var command = new SqlCommand("JobInstanceFileCreate", connection) { Transaction = tran }; command.CommandType = CommandType.StoredProcedure; command.Parameters.AddWithValue("@JobInstanceId", jobInstanceId); command.Parameters.AddWithValue("@Created", DateTime. Now); int jobInstanceFileId = Convert.ToInt32(command.ExecuteScalar()); //read out the filestream transaction context to stream the file for storage command.CommandText = "select [File].PathName(), GET_FILESTREAM_TRANSACTION_CONTEXT() from JobInstanceFile where JobInstanceFileId = @JobInstanceFileId"; command.CommandType = CommandType.Text; command.Parameters.AddWithValue("@JobInstanceFileId", jobInstanceFileId); using (SqlDataReader dr = command.ExecuteReader()) { dr.Read(); //get the file path we're writing out to string writePath = dr.GetString(0); using (var writeStream = new SqlFileStream(writePath, (byte[])dr.GetValue(1), FileAccess.ReadWrite)) { //copy from one stream to another byte[] bytes = new byte[65536]; int numBytes; while ((numBytes = fileStream.Read(bytes, 0, 65536)) 0) writeStream.Write(bytes, 0, numBytes); } } tran.Commit(); return jobInstanceFileId; } catch (Exception e) { tran.Rollback(); throw e; } } } Can someone please let me know what I'm doing wrong. In the code, the following expression is returning null for the file path and shouldn't be: //get the file path we're writing out to string writePath = dr.GetString(0); The server is different then the computer the code is running on but the necessary shares appear to be in order and I have also run the following: EXEC sp_configure filestream_access_level, 2 Any help would be greatly appreciated. • Android GridView with ads below

    - by ktambascio
Hi, I'm trying to integrate ads (admob) into my Android app. It's mostly working, except for one issue with the layout. My layout consists of: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <RelativeLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:orientation="vertical" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" xmlns:app="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/com.example.photos"> <LinearLayout android:orientation="horizontal" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:id="@+id/status_layout"> <ImageView android:id="@+id/cardStatus" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" /> <TextView android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="@string/hello" android:id="@+id/cardStatusText" /> </LinearLayout> <GridView android:id="@+id/imageGridView" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:padding="10dp" android:verticalSpacing="10dp" android:horizontalSpacing="10dp" android:numColumns="auto_fit" android:columnWidth="100dp" android:stretchMode="columnWidth" android:gravity="center" android:layout_below="@id/status_layout" /> <!-- Place an AdMob ad at the bottom of the screen. --> <!-- It has white text on a black background. --> <!-- The description of the surrounding context is 'Android game'. --> <com.admob.android.ads.AdView android:id="@+id/ad" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_alignParentBottom="true" app:backgroundColor="#000000" app:primaryTextColor="#FFFFFF" app:secondaryTextColor="#CCCCCC" app:keywords="Android Photo" /> </RelativeLayout> The ads are shown at the bottom of the screen, just as I want. However, they seem to be overlayed or drawn on top of the bottom portion of the grid view. I would like the gridview to be shorter, so that the ad can fill the bottom portion of the screen, and not hide part of the gridview. The problem is most annoying when you scroll all the way to the bottom of the gridview, and you still cannot fully see the last row items in the grid due to the ad. I'm not sure if this is the standard way that AdMob ads work. If this is the case, adding some padding to the bottom of the grid (if that's possible) would due the trick. That way the user can scroll a bit further, and see the last row in addition to the ad. I just switched from using LinearLayout to RelativeLayout after reading some similar issues with ListViews. Now my ad is along the bottom instead of above the grid, so I'm getting closer. Thoughts? -Kevin

  • javascript arrays and type conversion inconsistencies

    - by ForYourOwnGood
I have been playing with javascript arrays and I have run into, what I feel, are some inconsistencies, I hope someone can explain them for me. Lets start with this: var myArray = [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]; document.write("Length: " + myArray.length + "<br />"); for( var i in myArray){ document.write( "myArray[" + i + "] = " + myArray[i] + "<br />"); } document.write(myArray.join(", ") + "<br /><br />"); Length: 5 myArray[0] = 1 myArray[1] = 2 myArray[2] = 3 myArray[3] = 4 myArray[4] = 5 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 There is nothing special about this code, but I understand that a javascript array is an object, so properities may be add to the array, the way these properities are added to an array seems inconsistent to me. Before continuing, let me note how string values are to be converted to number values in javascript. Nonempty string - Numeric value of string or NaN Empty string - 0 So since a javascript array is an object the following is legal: myArray["someThing"] = "someThing"; myArray[""] = "Empty String"; myArray["4"] = "four"; for( var i in myArray){ document.write( "myArray[" + i + "] = " + myArray[i] + "<br />"); } document.write(myArray.join(", ") + "<br /><br />"); Length: 5 myArray[0] = 1 myArray[1] = 2 myArray[2] = 3 myArray[3] = 4 myArray[4] = four myArray[someThing] = someThing myArray[] = Empty String 1, 2, 3, 4, four The output is unexpected. The non empty string "4" is converted into its numeric value when setting the property myArray["4"], this seems right. However the empty string "" is not converted into its numeric value, 0, it is treated as an empty string. Also the non empty string "something" is not converted to its numeric value, NaN, it is treated as a string. So which is it? is the statement inside myArray[] in numeric or string context? Also, why are the two, non numeric, properities of myArray not included in myArray.length and myArray.join(", ")?

  • Android - Getting audio to play through earpiece

    - by Donal Rafferty
I currently have code that reads a recording in from the devices mic using the AudioRecord class and then playing it back out using the AudioTrack class. My problem is that when I play it out it plays vis the speaker phone. I want it to play out via the ear piece on the device. Here is my code: public class LoopProg extends Activity { boolean isRecording; //currently not used AudioManager am; int count = 0; /** Called when the activity is first created. */ @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.main); am = (AudioManager) getSystemService(Context.AUDIO_SERVICE); am.setMicrophoneMute(true); while(count <= 1000000){ Record record = new Record(); record.run(); count ++; Log.d("COUNT", "Count is : " + count); } } public class Record extends Thread { static final int bufferSize = 200000; final short[] buffer = new short[bufferSize]; short[] readBuffer = new short[bufferSize]; public void run() { isRecording = true; android.os.Process.setThreadPriority (android.os.Process.THREAD_PRIORITY_URGENT_AUDIO); int buffersize = AudioRecord.getMinBufferSize(11025, AudioFormat.CHANNEL_CONFIGURATION_MONO, AudioFormat.ENCODING_PCM_16BIT); AudioRecord arec = new AudioRecord(MediaRecorder.AudioSource.MIC, 11025, AudioFormat.CHANNEL_CONFIGURATION_MONO, AudioFormat.ENCODING_PCM_16BIT, buffersize); AudioTrack atrack = new AudioTrack(AudioManager.STREAM_MUSIC, 11025, AudioFormat.CHANNEL_CONFIGURATION_MONO, AudioFormat.ENCODING_PCM_16BIT, buffersize, AudioTrack.MODE_STREAM); am.setRouting(AudioManager.MODE_NORMAL,1, AudioManager.STREAM_MUSIC); int ok = am.getRouting(AudioManager.ROUTE_EARPIECE); Log.d("ROUTING", "getRouting = " + ok); setVolumeControlStream(AudioManager.STREAM_VOICE_CALL); //am.setSpeakerphoneOn(true); Log.d("SPEAKERPHONE", "Is speakerphone on? : " + am.isSpeakerphoneOn()); am.setSpeakerphoneOn(false); Log.d("SPEAKERPHONE", "Is speakerphone on? : " + am.isSpeakerphoneOn()); atrack.setPlaybackRate(11025); byte[] buffer = new byte[buffersize]; arec.startRecording(); atrack.play(); while(isRecording) { arec.read(buffer, 0, buffersize); atrack.write(buffer, 0, buffer.length); } arec.stop(); atrack.stop(); isRecording = false; } } } As you can see if the code I have tried using the AudioManager class and its methods including the deprecated setRouting method and nothing works, the setSpeatPoneOn method seems to have no effect at all, neither does the routing method. Has anyone got any ideas on how to get it to play via the earpiece instead of the spaker phone?

  • Sharing cookies/session from WebView to HttpClient doesn't work

    - by Toni Kanoni
I know this question has been asked a hundred times, and I've read and tried for 2 hours now, but I can't find my error :-( I am trying to create a simple webbrowser and therefore have a webview, where I login on a site and get access to a picture area. With help of a DefaultHttpClient, I want to make it possible to download pictures in the secured area. Therefore I am trying to share the cookies from the webview and pass them on to the HttpClient, so that it is authenticated and able to download. But whatever I try and do, I always get a 403 response back... Basically the steps are the following: 1) Enter URL, webview loads website 2) Enter login details in a form 3) Navigate to picture and long hold for context menu 4) Retrieve the image URL and pass it on to AsynTask for downloading Here's the code of the AsyncTask with the Cookie stuff: protected String doInBackground(String... params) { //params[0] is the URL of the image try { CookieManager cookieManager = CookieManager.getInstance(); String c = cookieManager.getCookie(new URL(params[0]).getHost()); BasicCookieStore cookieStore = new BasicCookieStore(); BasicHttpContext localContext = new BasicHttpContext(); localContext.setAttribute(ClientContext.COOKIE_STORE, cookieStore); String[] cookieParts = null; String cookies[] = null; cookies = c.split(";"); for(int i=0;i<cookies.length;i++) { cookieParts = cookies[i].split("="); BasicClientCookie sessionCookie = new BasicClientCookie(cookieParts[0].trim(), cookieParts[1].trim()); sessionCookie.setDomain(new URL(params[0]).getHost()); cookieStore.addCookie(sessionCookie); } DefaultHttpClient httpClient = new DefaultHttpClient(); httpClient.setCookieStore(cookieStore); HttpGet pageGet = new HttpGet(new URL(params[0]).toURI()); HttpResponse response = httpClient.execute(pageGet, localContext); if(response.getStatusLine().getStatusCode() == HttpStatus.SC_OK) -- NEVER Happens, always get 403 .) One of the problems is that the webview saves some cookies for the host *www.*example.com, but the image-URL to download (params[0]) is *static.*example.com. The line cookieManager.getCookie(new URL(params[0]).getHost()); returns null, because there is no cookie for static.example.com, but only for www.example.com. .) When I manually say cookieManager.getCookie("www.example.com"); I get some cookies back, which I add to the HttpClient cookie store: There are 5 cookies added - testcookie = 0 - PHPSESSID = 320947238someGibberishSessionId - email = [email protected] - pass = 32423te32someEncodedPassGibberish - user = 345542 So although these cookies, a session ID and other stuff, get added to the HttpClient, it never get's through to download an image. Im totally lost... though I guess that it either has something to do with the cookies domains, or that Im still missing other cookies. But from where the heck should I know which cookies exist in the webview, when I have to specify a specific URL to get a cookie back?? :-( Any advice?

  • Problems with office automation in asp.net. I can use alternatives such as open-office, if I knew ho

    - by Vinicius Melquiades
I have a ASP.NET 2.0 web application that should upload a ppt file and then extract its slides to images. For that I have imported office.dll and Microsoft.Office.Interop.PowerPoint.dll assemblies and wrote the following code public static int ExtractImages(string ppt, string targetPath, int width, int height) { var pptApplication = new ApplicationClass(); var pptPresentation = pptApplication.Presentations.Open(ppt, MsoTriState.msoTrue, MsoTriState.msoFalse, MsoTriState.msoFalse); var slides = new List<string>(); for (var i = 1; i <= pptPresentation.Slides.Count; i++) { var target = string.Format(targetPath, i); pptPresentation.Slides[i].Export(target, "jpg", width, height); slides.Add(new FileInfo(target).Name); } pptPresentation.Close(); return slides.Count; } If I run this code in my local machine, in asp.net or a executable, it runs perfectly. But If I try running it in the production server, I get the following error: System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x80004005): PowerPoint could not open the file. at Microsoft.Office.Interop.PowerPoint.Presentations.Open(String FileName, MsoTriState ReadOnly, MsoTriState Untitled, MsoTriState WithWindow) at PPTImageExtractor.PptConversor.ExtractImages(String caminhoPpt, String caminhoDestino, Int32 largura, Int32 altura, String caminhoThumbs, Int32 larguraThumb, Int32 alturaThumb, Boolean geraXml) at Upload.ProcessRequest(HttpContext context) The process is running with the user NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE. IIS is configured to use anonymous authentication. The anonymous user is an administrator, I set it like this to allow the application to run without having to worry about permissions. In my development machine I have office 2010 beta1. I have tested with the executable in a pc with office 2007 as well. And if I run the code from the executable in the server, with office 2003 installed, it runs perfectly. To ensure that there wouldn't be any problems with permissions, everyone in the server has full access to the web site. The website is running in IIS7 and Classic Mode. I also heard that Open-office has an API that should be able to do this, but I couldn't find anything about it. I don't mind using DLLImport to do what I have to do and I can install open-office on the web server. Don't worry about rewriting this method, as long as the parameters are the same, everything will work. I appreciate your help. ps: Sorry for bad English.

  • What IDE to use for Python

As a Python newbie, it is interesting to know what IDE's ("GUIs/editors") others use for Python coding. If you can just give the name (e.g. Textpad, Eclipse ..) that will be enough. If it is already mentioned, you can just vote for it. But if you can also give some more comparative information, that will be much appreciated. Thanks. • Entity Attribute Value Database vs. strict Relational Model Ecommerce question

    - by Dr. Zim
It is safe to say that the EAV/CR database model is bad. That said, Question: What database model, technique, or pattern should be used to deal with "classes" of attributes describing e-commerce products which can be changed at run time? In a good E-commerce database, you will store classes of options (like TV resolution then have a resolution for each TV, but the next product may not be a TV and not have "TV resolution"). How do you store them, search efficiently, and allow your users to setup product types with variable fields describing their products? If the search engine finds that customers typically search for TVs based on console depth, you could add console depth to your fields, then add a single depth for each tv product type at run time. There is a nice common feature among good e-commerce apps where they show a set of products, then have "drill down" side menus where you can see "TV Resolution" as a header, and the top five most common TV Resolutions for the found set. You click one and it only shows TVs of that resolution, allowing you to further drill down by selecting other categories on the side menu. These options would be the dynamic product attributes added at run time. Further discussion: So long story short, are there any links out on the Internet or model descriptions that could "academically" fix the following setup? I thank Noel Kennedy for suggesting a category table, but the need may be greater than that. I describe it a different way below, trying to highlight the significance. I may need a viewpoint correction to solve the problem, or I may need to go deeper in to the EAV/CR. Love the positive response to the EAV/CR model. My fellow developers all say what Jeffrey Kemp touched on below: "new entities must be modeled and designed by a professional" (taken out of context, read his response below). The problem is: entities add and remove attributes weekly (search keywords dictate future attributes) new entities arrive weekly (products are assembled from parts) old entities go away weekly (archived, less popular, seasonal) The customer wants to add attributes to the products for two reasons: department / keyword search / comparison chart between like products consumer product configuration before checkout The attributes must have significance, not just a keyword search. If they want to compare all cakes that have a "whipped cream frosting", they can click cakes, click birthday theme, click whipped cream frosting, then check all cakes that are interesting knowing they all have whipped cream frosting. This is not specific to cakes, just an example.

But even though the minor versions of the Javas are slightly different, the code shouldn't break like this. Does anyone understand what's wrong here?

  • How to stop UITableView moveRowAtIndexPath from leaving blank rows upon reordering

    - by coneybeare
    I am having an issue where in reordering my UITableViewCells, the tableView is not scrolling with the cell. Only a blank row appears and any subsequent scrolling gets an Array out of bounds error without any of my code in the Stack Trace. Here is a quick video of the problem. Here is the relevant code: - (BOOL)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView canEditRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { return indexPath.section == 1; } - (BOOL)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView canMoveRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { BOOL ret = indexPath.section == 1 && indexPath.row < self.count; DebugLog(@"canMoveRowAtIndexPath: %d:%d %@", indexPath.section, indexPath.row, (ret ? @"YES" : @"NO")); return ret; } - (void)delayedUpdateCellBackgroundPositionsForTableView:(UITableView *)tableView { [self performSelectorOnMainThread:@selector(updateCellBackgroundPositionsForTableView:) withObject:tableView waitUntilDone:NO]; } - (void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView moveRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)fromIndexPath toIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)toIndexPath { if (fromIndexPath.row == toIndexPath.row) return; DebugLog(@"Moved audio from %d:%d to %d:%d", fromIndexPath.section, fromIndexPath.row, toIndexPath.section, toIndexPath.row); NSMutableArray *audio = [self.items objectAtIndex:fromIndexPath.section]; [audio exchangeObjectAtIndex:fromIndexPath.row withObjectAtIndex:toIndexPath.row]; [self performSelector:@selector(delayedUpdateCellBackgroundPositionsForTableView:) withObject:tableView afterDelay:kDefaultAnimationDuration/3]; } And here is the generated Stack Trace of the crash: Exception Type: EXC_BREAKPOINT (SIGTRAP) Exception Codes: 0x0000000000000002, 0x0000000000000000 Crashed Thread: 0 Dispatch queue: com.apple.main-thread Application Specific Information: iPhone Simulator 3.2 (193.3), iPhone OS 3.0 (7A341) *** Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSRangeException', reason: '*** -[NSCFArray removeObjectsInRange:]: index (6) beyond bounds (6)' Thread 0 Crashed: Dispatch queue: com.apple.main-thread 0 CoreFoundation 0x302ac924 ___TERMINATING_DUE_TO_UNCAUGHT_EXCEPTION___ + 4 1 libobjc.A.dylib 0x93cb2509 objc_exception_throw + 56 2 CoreFoundation 0x3028e5fb +[NSException raise:format:arguments:] + 155 3 CoreFoundation 0x3028e55a +[NSException raise:format:] + 58 4 Foundation 0x305684e9 _NSArrayRaiseBoundException + 121 5 Foundation 0x30553a6e -[NSCFArray removeObjectsInRange:] + 142 6 UIKit 0x30950105 -[UITableView(_UITableViewPrivate) _updateVisibleCellsNow] + 862 7 UIKit 0x30947715 -[UITableView layoutSubviews] + 250 8 QuartzCore 0x0090bd94 -[CALayer layoutSublayers] + 78 9 QuartzCore 0x0090bb55 CALayerLayoutIfNeeded + 229 10 QuartzCore 0x0090b3ae CA::Context::commit_transaction(CA::Transaction*) + 302 11 QuartzCore 0x0090b022 CA::Transaction::commit() + 292 12 QuartzCore 0x009132e0 CA::Transaction::observer_callback(__CFRunLoopObserver*, unsigned long, void*) + 84 13 CoreFoundation 0x30245c32 __CFRunLoopDoObservers + 594 14 CoreFoundation 0x3024503f CFRunLoopRunSpecific + 2575 15 CoreFoundation 0x30244628 CFRunLoopRunInMode + 88 16 GraphicsServices 0x32044c31 GSEventRunModal + 217 17 GraphicsServices 0x32044cf6 GSEventRun + 115 18 UIKit 0x309021ee UIApplicationMain + 1157 19 XXXXXXXX 0x0000278a main + 104 (main.m:12) 20 XXXXXXXX 0x000026f6 start + 54 NOte that the array out of bounds length is not the length of my elements (I have 9), but always something smaller. I have been trying to solve this for many hours days without avail… any ideas? UPDATE: More code as requested In my delegate: - (UITableViewCellEditingStyle)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView editingStyleForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { return UITableViewCellEditingStyleNone; } - (NSIndexPath *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView targetIndexPathForMoveFromRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)sourceIndexPath toProposedIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)proposedDestinationIndexPath { int count = [(UAPlaylistEditDataSource *)self.dataSource count]; if (proposedDestinationIndexPath.section == 0) { return [NSIndexPath indexPathForRow:0 inSection:sourceIndexPath.section]; }else if (proposedDestinationIndexPath.row >= count) { return [NSIndexPath indexPathForRow:count-1 inSection:sourceIndexPath.section]; } return proposedDestinationIndexPath; } …thats about it. I am using the three20 framework and I have not had any issues with reordering till now. The problem is also not in the updateCellBackgroundPositionsForTableView: method as it still crashes when this is commented out.

  • DynamicMethod for ConstructorInfo.Invoke, what do I need to consider?

    - by Lasse V. Karlsen
My question is this: If I'm going to build a DynamicMethod object, corresponding to a ConstructorInfo.Invoke call, what types of IL do I need to implement in order to cope with all (or most) types of arguments, when I can guarantee that the right type and number of arguments is going to be passed in before I make the call? Background I am on my 3rd iteration of my IoC container, and currently doing some profiling to figure out if there are any areas where I can easily shave off large amounts of time being used. One thing I noticed is that when resolving to a concrete type, ultimately I end up with a constructor being called, using ConstructorInfo.Invoke, passing in an array of arguments that I've worked out. What I noticed is that the invoke method has quite a bit of overhead, and I'm wondering if most of this is just different implementations of the same checks I do. For instance, due to the constructor matching code I have, to find a matching constructor for the predefined parameter names, types, and values that I have passed in, there's no way this particular invoke call will not end up with something it should be able to cope with, like the correct number of arguments, in the right order, of the right type, and with appropriate values. When doing a profiling session containing a million calls to my resolve method, and then replacing it with a DynamicMethod implementation that mimics the Invoke call, the profiling timings was like this: ConstructorInfo.Invoke: 1973ms DynamicMethod: 93ms This accounts for around 20% of the total runtime of this profiling application. In other words, by replacing the ConstructorInfo.Invoke call with a DynamicMethod that does the same, I am able to shave off 20% runtime when dealing with basic factory-scoped services (ie. all resolution calls end up with a constructor call). I think this is fairly substantial, and warrants a closer look at how much work it would be to build a stable DynamicMethod generator for constructors in this context. So, the dynamic method would take in an object array, and return the constructed object, and I already know the ConstructorInfo object in question. Therefore, it looks like the dynamic method would be made up of the following IL: l001: ldarg.0 ; the object array containing the arguments l002: ldc.i4.0 ; the index of the first argument l003: ldelem.ref ; get the value of the first argument l004: castclass T ; cast to the right type of argument (only if not "Object") (repeat l001-l004 for all parameters, l004 only for non-Object types, varying l002 constant from 0 and up for each index) l005: newobj ci ; call the constructor l006: ret Is there anything else I need to consider? Note that I'm aware that creating dynamic methods will probably not be available when running the application in "reduced access mode" (sometimes the brain just won't give up those terms), but in that case I can easily detect that and just calling the original constructor as before, with the overhead and all.
