  • Linq2SQL to produce Like operator

    - by Dante
Hi, I have a string "Word1 Word2" and I want to transform it to a query such as "Like '%Word1%Word2%'". At the moment I have: from t in Test where t.Field.Contains("Word1 Word2") How to do this in LINQ2SQL? Do I need to create two separate queries for this, can't I write it in the same statement? Thx in advance

  • "Hello World" in less than 20 bytes

    - by xelurg
We have had an interesting competition once, where everyone would write their implementation of hello world program. One requirement was that is should be less than 20 bytes in compiled form. the winner would be the one whose version is the smallest... What would be your solution? :) Platform: 32bit, x86 OS: DOS, Win, GNU/Linux, *BSD Language: Asm, C, or anything else that compiles into binary executable (i.e. no bash scripts and stuff ;)

  • Free visual editor for a language that would compile to native windows exe

    - by luvieere
I'm looking for a free visual editor for a language that would compile to native windows exe, no runtime. I'm looking for alternatives to the Delphi suite (so don't give it as an answer), something that would allow me to write Windows GUI applications with ease. I don't care about the language, as long as it gets the job done, but I would appreciate if your suggestions avoid functional languages. Even better if it abstracts the windowing system with something more simple than the winAPI.

  • How can I access the JavaScript global object ("window") inside an embedded browser object (the IWebBrowser2 interface)?

    - by John Factorial
I have an HTML page which embeds an IWebBrowser2 ActiveX (i.e. the control is essentially an Internet Explorer browser). I need to write JavaScript in this HTML page which will remove any window.onresize handler from the page loaded in the IWebBrowser2 control. IWebBrowser2 exposes the DOM through IWebBrowser2::Document, but this is equivalent to window.document. Is there any way I can get access to window or window.onresize?

  • Continuation - Viewing FIRST_ROWS before query completes.

    - by Frank Developer
I have identified the query constructs my users normally use. would it make sense for me to create composite indexes to support those constructs and provide FIRST_ROWS capability? If I migrate from SE to IDS, I will loose the ability to write low-level functions with c-isam calls, but gain FIRST_ROWS along with other goodies like: SET-READS for index scans (onconfig USE_[KO]BATCHEDREAD), optimizer directives, parallel queries, etc?

  • New functional languages

    - by AnnaR
Functional programming has been around since at least 1958 (creation of Lisp), but is experiencing a renaissance now with old functional languages being dusted off and new functional languages being created. Which functional languages are there that are newly developed or are in the making? I realize that you can write purely functional programs in most high level languages, so with functional languages I imply languages that are specifically designed for functional programming such as F#. If you have links to tutorials, wikis or code examples I encourage you to add them to your answer!

  • delete all but minimal values, based on two columns in SQL Server table

    - by sqlill
how to write a statement to accomplish the folowing? lets say a table has 2 columns (both are nvarchar) with the following data col1 10000_10000_10001_10002_10002_10002 col2 10____20____10____30____40_____50 I'd like to keep only the following data: col1 10000_10001_10002 col2 10____10____30 thus removing the duplicates based on the second column values (neither of the columns are primary keys), keeping only those records with the minimal value in the second column. how to accomplish this?

  • Time DataType in Sql Server 2005

    - by MadBoy
I've created small database under SQL Server 2008. Now i wanted to move it to SQL Server 2005 and it doesn't work since it doesn't have Time datatype. What option do I have to store only time in SQL Server 2005. I've written small TimeSheet application which needs to write hours and minutes mostly in format like 05:30:00 (hh:mm:ss) but ss is optional.

  • Recommendations for a .NET component to access an email inbox

    - by Ian Nelson
I've been asked to write a Windows service in C# to periodically monitor an email inbox and insert the details of any messages received into a database table. My instinct is to do this via POP3 and sure enough, Googling for ".NET POP3 component" produces countless (ok, 146,000) results. Has anybody done anything similar before and can you recommend a decent component that won't break the bank (a few hundred dollars maximum)? Would there be any benefits to using IMAP rather than POP3?

  • Java JList model

    - by Alaa
How can I make a list model from a JList in order to be able to insert an item into it. I want to use this method: addElement(java.lang.Object item) I found an explanation here, but the problem is that ListModel is an interface and even if I write an implementation and override its method, I can't use the addElement() method

  • How to check if TcpClient Connection is closed?

    - by Superdumbell
I'm playing around with the TcpClient and I'm trying to figure out how to make the Connected property say false when a connection is dropped. I tried doing NetworkStream ns = client.GetStream(); ns.Write(new byte[1], 0, 0); But it still will not show me if the TcpClient is disconnected. How would you go about this using a TcpClient?

  • SQL Server 2008 Filestream Impersonation Access Denied error

    - by Adi
I've been trying to upload a file to the database using SQL SERVER 2008 Filestream and Impersonation technique to save the file in the file system, but i keep getting Access Denied error; even though i've set the permissions for the impersonating user to the Filestream folder(C:\SQLFILESTREAM\Dev_DB). when i debugged the code, i found the server return a unc path(\Server_Name\MSSQLSERVER\v1\Dev_LMDB\dbo\FileData\File_Data\13C39AB1-8B91-4F5A-81A1-940B58504C17), which was not accessible through windows explorer. I've my web application hosted on local maching(Windows 7). SQL Server is located on a remote server(Windows Server 2008 R2). Sql authentication was used to call the stored procedure. Following is the code i've used to do the above operations. SqlCommand sqlCmd = new SqlCommand("AddFile"); sqlCmd.CommandType = CommandType.StoredProcedure; sqlCmd.Parameters.Add("@File_Name", SqlDbType.VarChar, 512).Value = filename; sqlCmd.Parameters.Add("@File_Type", SqlDbType.VarChar, 5).Value = Path.GetExtension(filename); sqlCmd.Parameters.Add("@Username", SqlDbType.VarChar, 20).Value = username; sqlCmd.Parameters.Add("@Output_File_Path", SqlDbType.VarChar, -1).Direction = ParameterDirection.Output; DAManager PDAM = new DAManager(DAManager.getConnectionString()); using (SqlConnection connection = (SqlConnection)PDAM.CreateConnection()) { connection.Open(); SqlTransaction transaction = connection.BeginTransaction(); WindowsImpersonationContext wImpersonationCtx; NetworkSecurity ns = null; try { PDAM.ExecuteNonQuery(sqlCmd, transaction); string filepath = sqlCmd.Parameters["@Output_File_Path"].Value.ToString(); sqlCmd = new SqlCommand("SELECT GET_FILESTREAM_TRANSACTION_CONTEXT()"); sqlCmd.CommandType = CommandType.Text; byte[] Context = (byte[])PDAM.ExecuteScalar(sqlCmd, transaction); byte[] buffer = new byte[4096]; int bytedRead; ns = new NetworkSecurity(); wImpersonationCtx = ns.ImpersonateUser(IMP_Domain, IMP_Username, IMP_Password, LogonType.LOGON32_LOGON_INTERACTIVE, LogonProvider.LOGON32_PROVIDER_DEFAULT); SqlFileStream sfs = new SqlFileStream(filepath, Context, System.IO.FileAccess.Write); while ((bytedRead = inFS.Read(buffer, 0, buffer.Length)) != 0) { sfs.Write(buffer, 0, bytedRead); } sfs.Close(); transaction.Commit(); } catch (Exception ex) { transaction.Rollback(); } finally { sqlCmd.Dispose(); connection.Close(); connection.Dispose(); ns.undoImpersonation(); wImpersonationCtx = null; ns = null; } } Can someone help me with this issue. • Basic Recursion, Check Balanced Parenthesis

    - by pws5068
Greetings all, I've written software in the past that uses a stack to check for balanced equations, but now I'm asked to write a similar algorithm recursively to check for properly nested brackets and parenthesis. Good examples: () [] () ([]()[]) Bad examples: ( (] ([)] Suppose my function is called: isBalanced. Should each pass evaluate a smaller substring (until reaching a base case of 2 left)? Or, should I always evaluate the full string and move indices inward?
