• Creating a "mountable" File System, where to start?

  A friend and I are thinking about creating a simple file system for learning purposes. We're going to write it in C/C++, and try to get it to a mountable state from within linux. We've both been coding or over 16 years (32 combined), so I suppose its just a matter of finding some documentation, and a ton of learning. My question is, where could I find out more information? (Documentation for creating a file system, requirements of mounting a file system in linux, etc) Where do we start? Edit: I should also mention, this would not be a boot-able file system, just a file system used for storage, though I am not too sure if that matters or not.

• Is support for recovering purchases mandatory for consumable products?

  Apple's documentation for iOS 7 makes me think it is not, for it makes a distinction between "restored by the system" (i.e. built into iOS 7), "restored by your app" (i.e. functionality required inside app"), and "not required". The fact there being three (and not two) options and product type "consumable" being marked as "not restored" makes me think that an app that does not support restoring consumable product may still pass Apple's review process. However this popular question and answer seem to suggest that such support is required ("I read somewhere ...") But would this not amount to "consumable" taking on "restored by your app" semantics, which seems to contradict the quoted piece of Apple documentation.

• Problem with input filter using doxygen 1.6.3 on windows XP

  I am trying to use doxygen to generate documentation for some matlab classes I have written. I am using the doxygen-matlab package, which includes a perl script to kludge matlab .m files into c++ style commented files, so that doxygen can read them. In my doxyfile, I have set (according to the instructions) FILTER_PATTERNS = *m=C:/doxygenMatlab/m2cpp.pl However, when the code runs, rather than running the script on the input files, it appears to just open the script using whatever the default windows setting for .pl is. IE, if I associate .pl with notepad, the script is opened by notepad once for each input file doxygen is trying to parse. If I associate .pl with perl.exe, the script runs and throws the no argument error Argument must contain filename -1 at C:\doxygenMatlab\m2cpp.pl line 4. The doxygen documentation says Doxygen will invoke the filter program by executing (via popen()) the command <filter> <input-file> So I am wondering if there is some problem with popen() and windows that I could fix.

  The way my application is structured, each component generates output as XML and returns an XmlWriter object. Before rendering the final output to the page, I combine all XML and perform an XSL transformation on that object. Below, is a simplified code sample of the application structure. Does it make sense to combine XmlWriter objects like this? Is there a better way to structure my application? • open current page in new window including query string

  First of all, I am a total dud at all things related to web developement, so please bear with me here. I suspect this question is laughable for the web guys, but unfortunately I can't figure this out. Here goes: I have an application, that does some processing, writes some result files and then displays the results in an embedded IE browser control. This is done by navigating the browser control to a local html file together with a query string containing the generated result files to display it all. The link target would look something like: c:\SomeFolder\results.htm?results=file%201.xml;file%202.xml;file%203.xml So far, everything's fine. However, in the html page is a href that is suppossed to open up the exact same just in a normal browser window. What I thought would work is: <a href="#" target="_blank">Show in browser</a> Since it is a link in an html page displayed in an IE control, the link will open up in IE no matter what the default browser might be. This works for IE7 and 8, but not for IE6. With IE6 the query string gets cut off and the browser opens file://c:/results/results.htm# without the query string. I am sure there must be a much better way to do this without the # and which would work in all IEs. How would the pros solve this?

  Hi, I have been trying to access the pygame website for a few weeks now, and I can't get to it. I doubt it's down, so I have to conclude that it's blocked because I am in China. I have no idea why. Anyways, I want the pygame documentation, but all the download links I fond lead back to pygame.org (which I does not even begin loading, it's such a politically subversive website you know!). Can anyone tell me where I can get documentation and other pygame resources without going through pygame.org? I would really appreciate it, thanks. PS I am on windows XP, if it matters.

• Is there a server side API for Team Foundation Server?

  It would seem there is precious little documentation on programming against a TFS 2010 instance. What bits I have found, have next to nothing in the case of documentation beyond barebones listing of client access classes and their members, most likely autogenerated from the code comments. As I'm interested in building a silverlight client against TFS, I will need access to a server side API. Ideally the silverlight app will talk to my server (mainly for work items) and my server will in turn talk to the TFS server for the goods. Where is the doumentation (if any) for this kind of TFS integration?

• Proper permission and directoy location for Git Version Control

  I am using Git Version Control on an remote server and I have set up a repository that multiple people will be using to push/fetch from. I have put the repo under /srv/subdir/git/.git I have been experiencing problem after problem it seems like. a) Is this location suitable for handling a project that will need to be accessed/modified by multiple developers and a designer? Or is there a better location? b)Do I need to modify the permissions on the subdir/ and git/ directories in order to allow remote access? If I do what is the appropriate permissions I should allow? I know this is a faily long request/question, but unfortunately like many other topics with well covered documentation, documentation does not always cover best practices. I would appreciate anybodies advice and suggestions? Thanks

  Hi, I have an application that can import an XML file through this terminal command : open /path/to/main\ app.app --args myXML.xml This works great with no issues. And i have used Applescript to launch this command through shell and it works just as well. Yet when try using Cocoa's NSTask Launcher using this code : NSTask *task = [[NSTask alloc] init]; [task setLaunchPath:@"/usr/bin/open"]; [task setCurrentDirectoryPath:@"/Applications/MainApp/InstallData/App/"]; [task setArguments:[NSArray arrayWithObjects:[(NSURL *)foundApplicationURL path], @"--args", @"ImportP.xml", nil]]; [task launch]; the applications will start up to the initial screen and then crash when either the next button is clicked or when trying to close the window. Ive tried using NSAppleScript with this : NSAppleScript *script = [[NSAppleScript alloc] initWithSource:@"tell application \"Terminal\" do script \"open /Applications/MainApp/InstallData/App/Main\\\\ App.app\" end tell"]; NSDictionary *errorInfo; [script executeAndReturnError:&errorInfo]; This will launch the program and it will crash as well and i get this error in my Xcode debug window : 12011-01-04 17:41:28.296 LaunchAppFile[4453:a0f] Error loading /Library/ScriptingAdditions/Adobe Unit Types.osax/Contents/MacOS/Adobe Unit Types: dlopen(/Library/ScriptingAdditions/Adobe Unit Types.osax/Contents/MacOS/Adobe Unit Types, 262): no suitable image found. • Help! Obj-C/Iphone programming: extracting string from html text and reading off line by line

  hihi, I have this html text response from a particular website: <tr><td valign="top"><img src="/icons/image2.gif" alt="[IMG]"></td><td><a href="crsdsdfs2221.jpg">crash-2221.jpg</a></td><td align="right">14-Jun-2010 14:29 Notice for every line, there is this href=".__", which is an image file with random name and random format. I would like to extract that string within the inverted commas out so that i can append it into a URL path and download the image. I've been looking through this documentation from apple: http://developer.apple.com/mac/library/documentation/cocoa/conceptual/strings/Articles/SearchingStrings.html#//apple_ref/doc/uid/20000149-CJBBGBAI on String programming but couldn't find one that fits my bill. Also after reading it, what code can I use to ensure that I will be reading the next line the next time my function is called( because I want to download the next picture). Hope some kind soul can help me out, thanks!

  Hello Using JAXB I've created a series of classes which represent my XML schema. Validating against the schema an XML file has thus become a 'tree' of java objects representing the XML. Now I'd like to access, delete and add an object of one the created types in my tree. If I've got classes' methods arranged like this: RootType class has: public List<FQType> getFq() { // and setter return fq; } FQType class has: public RemapType getRemap() { // and setter return remap; } RemapType class has: public String getSource() { // and setter return source; } What's the most concise way to code reading and writing of the 'source' member of a RemapType instance in an FQType instance with, say, fqtypeID=1, in an array of type RootType (in which RootType instances also each have rootID)? Currently I'm using a for loop Iterator in which is an if rootID = mySelectedRootID. In the if I nest a second for loop Iterator over the contained FQType instances and in that a second if fqTypeID = mySelectedFQTypeID. IE for loop iterator/if statement pairs to recognise the object of desire. With all the bells and whistles this way is nearly 15 lines of code to access a data type - can I do this in one line? • JQuery Load() syntax - Changing data source on mouseenter

  Hey everyone. I've written this simple function that is supposed to load a portion of an XML file on mouseenter. It works fine when I specify the data source explicitly, shown below. I have a number of '.invest-port-thumb' divs, each with a unique link. The following code works fine—but it loads the whole XML file—and I only want a portion: $(document).ready(function() { $('.invest-port-thumb a').mouseenter(function() { $('#slider-name').load(this.href); }); }); This code also works fine—loading only the 'cName' portion that I want it to load...Except that this code refers to one of the files, instead of the value of this.href. $(document).ready(function() { $('.invest-port-thumb a').mouseenter(function() { $('#slider-name').load('port/atd.xml cName'); }); }); I guess what I'm saying, syntax wise—How can I combine this.href and the data matching cName? • How do you unit-test a method with complex input-output

  When you have a simple method, like for example sum(int x, int y), it is easy to write unit tests. You can check that method will sum correctly two sample integers, for example 2 + 3 should return 5, then you will check the same for some "extraordinary" numbers, for example negative values and zero. Each of these should be separate unit test, as a single unit test should contain single assert. What do you do when you have a complex input-output? Take a Xml parser for example. You can have a single method parse(String xml) that receives the String and returns a Dom object. You can write separate tests that will check that certain text node is parsed correctly, that attributes are parsed OK, that child node belongs to parent etc. For all these I can write a simple input, for example <root><child/></root> that will be used to check parent-child relationships between nodes and so on for the rest of expectations. Now, take a look at follwing Xml: <root> <child1 attribute11="attribute 11 value" attribute12="attribute 12 value">Text 1</child1> <child2 attribute21="attribute 21 value" attribute22="attribute 22 value">Text 2</child2> </root> In order to check that method worked correctly, I need to check many complex conditions, like that attribute11 and attribute12 belong to element1, that Text 1 belongs to child1 etc. I do not want to put more than one assert in my unit-test. How can I accomplish that?

• Maven (EJB) project with client and server artifacts

  Here's my variation on the "multiple artifacts from Maven build" question: I'm porting from Ant to Maven. My application is an EJB server that is packaged as an EAR, but it also exposes a client JAR for use by other client apps. This jar contains the EJB interfaces, facade class and some helpers. I know that the Maven way is to have one artifact per project (POM); however, both artifacts (server EAR and client JAR) need to be built from the same source tree - server and client share, for example, the EJB and 'home' interfaces. How do I do this in Maven? Do I have one project containing two POMs, say server-pom.xml & client-pom.xml? I was thinking I could also have a parent POM (pom.xml) that can be used to build both client and server with one foul swoop? However, the lifecycles diverge after the 'package' phase, since the server has to go through assembly (tar/gzip), while the client is done after 'package' and can simply be installed into the repository. Any advice/experience on the best way to approach this?

  I have a WCF REST Starter Kit service. The type handled by the service is a subclass of a base class. For POST requests, the base class members are not correctly populated. • What is the simplest way to implement multithreading in c# to existing code

  I have already implemented a functionnal application that parses 26 pages of html all at once to produce an xml file with data contained on the web pages. I would need to implement a thread so that this method can work in the background without causing my app to seems unresponsive. Secondly, I have another function that is decoupled from the first one which compares two xml files to produce a third one and then transform this third xml file to produce an html page using XSLT. This would have to be on a thread, where I can click Cancel to stop the thread whithout crashing the app. What is the easiest best way to do this using WPF forms in VS 2010 ? I have chosen to use the BackgroundWorker. • How can I tell what events fire from GXT?

  I cannot seem to find any documentation of what events fire and when in GXT. The API docs have lists of all the events that could fire (in Events). And it describes how to handle events that you catch. But I'm interested in the opposite side, which events are fired when I take a certain action. I can set some listeners for various different components, or I can use addListener with a specific event code to catch individual events. That's spotty, and I seem to be using trial-and-error to guess what I might want to catch. Is there a way to log all the events that are firing? Or catch all of them so I could look at them in a debugger? Or is there some documentation I am missing that has the information? Something along the lines of "when you click on a widget, a ButtonEvent is fired. Events.x is fired on the hover, Events.y on the click."

There are different values for cardype like visa, mc, amex and discover All these values are in my strings.xml file and after retrieving the value I have to display it in Spinner.. • How to make Spring load a JDBC Driver BEFORE initializing Hibernate's SessionFactory?

  I'm developing a Spring(2.5.6)+Hibernate(3.2.6) web application to connect to a custom database. For that I have custom JDBC Driver and Hibernate Dialect. I know for sure that these custom classes work (hard coded stuff on my unit tests). The problem, I guess, is with the order on which things get loaded by Spring. Basically: Custom Database initializes Spring load beans from web.xml Spring loads ServletBeans(applicationContext.xml) Hibernate kicks in: shows version and all the properties correctly loaded. Hibernate's HbmBinder runs (maps all my classes) LocalSessionFactoryBean - Building new Hibernate SessionFactory DriverManagerConnectionProvider - using driver: MyCustomJDBCDriver at CustomDBURL I get a SQLException: No suitable driver found for CustomDBURL Hibernate loads the Custom Dialect My CustomJDBCDriver finally gets registered with DriverManager (log messages) SettingsFactory runs SchemaExport runs (hbm2ddl) I get a SQLException: No suitable driver found for CustomDBURL (again?!) Application get successfully deployed but there are no tables on my custom Database. Things that I tried so far: Different techniques for passing hibernate properties: embedded in the 'sessionFactory' bean, loaded from a hibernate.properties file. Nothing worked but I didn't try with hibernate.cfg.xml file neither with a dataSource bean yet. MyCustomJDBCDriver has a static initializer block that registers it self with the DriverManager. Tried different combinations of lazy initializing (lazy-init="true") of the Spring beans but nothing worked. My custom JDBC driver should be the first thing to be loaded - not sure if by Spring but...! Can anyone give me a solution for this or maybe a hint for what else I could try? I can provide more details (huge stack traces for instance) if that helps. Thanks in advance.

  Hi Guys, I am pretty new to xml parsing and I am using XMLREADER to parse a huge file. Given the following XML (sample): <hotels> <hotel> <name>Bla1</name> </hotel> <hotel> <name>Bla2</name> </hotel> </hotels> And then the XMLREADER in PHP which pulls up the values to my Database: $reader = new XMLReader(); $reader->open('hotels.xml'); while ($reader->read()) { if ($reader->name == "name") { $reader->read(); mysql_query("INSERT INTO MyHotels (hotelName) VALUES (\"$reader->value\")"); } } $reader->close(); The problem is that I've got a single empty row between each of the parsed nodes!!
