  • DataGridView lags for a second with large data updates

    - by alexD
I have a DataGridView with about 400 rows and 10 columns. When the user first displays this table, it receives all of the data from the server and populates the table. The DGV uses a DataTable as it's data source, and when updating the DataTable I use row.BeginEdit/EndEdit and acceptChanges, but when the View itself is updated it lags for a second while all of the DGV is being updated. I am wondering if there is a way to make this smooth, so that for example, if the user is scrolling through the data and it updates, it won't interrupt the scrolling. Or if the user is moving the display around the screen and it updates, it won't interrupt. Is there an easy way to do this? If not, is there away to prevent the DGV from updating the view until all events have ended so it won't be repainted until the user stops scrolling, dragging, etc ?

  • How to display data stored in core data in a table view?

    - by Dipanjan Dutta
    Hello All, I have developed a core data model for my application. I need to display the saved data into a table view. For my app I have selected split view controller. I am writing down my codes below. Please help me in this regard and write me the code that needs to be added. This is very important as my continuation in my company depends on this. #import "RootViewController.h" #import "DetailViewController.h" #import "AddViewController.h" #import "EmployeeDetailsAppDelegate.h" /* This template does not ensure user interface consistency during editing operations in the table view. You must implement appropriate methods to provide the user experience you require. */ @interface RootViewController () - (void)configureCell:(UITableViewCell *)cell atIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath; @end @implementation RootViewController @synthesize detailViewController, fetchedResultsController, managedObjectContext, results, empName; #pragma mark - #pragma mark View lifecycle - (void)viewDidLoad { results = [[NSMutableDictionary alloc]init]; [results setObject:empName.text forKey:@"EmployeeName"]; [self.tableView reloadData]; [super viewDidLoad]; } /* - (void)viewWillAppear:(BOOL)animated { [super viewWillAppear:animated]; } */ /* - (void)viewDidAppear:(BOOL)animated { [super viewDidAppear:animated]; } */ /* - (void)viewWillDisappear:(BOOL)animated { [super viewWillDisappear:animated]; } */ /* - (void)viewDidDisappear:(BOOL)animated { [super viewDidDisappear:animated]; } */ - (BOOL)shouldAutorotateToInterfaceOrientation:(UIInterfaceOrientation)interfaceOrientation { // Ensure that the view controller supports rotation and that the split view can therefore show in both portrait and landscape. return YES; } - (void)configureCell:(UITableViewCell *)cell atIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { NSManagedObject *managedObject = [self.fetchedResultsController objectAtIndexPath:indexPath]; cell.textLabel.text = [[managedObject valueForKey:@"EmployeeName"] description]; } #pragma mark - #pragma mark Add a new object - (void)insertNewObject:(id)sender { AddViewController *add = [[AddViewController alloc]initWithNibName:@"AddViewController" bundle:nil]; self.modalPresentationStyle = UIModalPresentationFormSheet; add.wantsFullScreenLayout = NO; [self presentModalViewController:add animated:YES]; [add release]; } #pragma mark - #pragma mark Table view data source - (NSInteger)numberOfSectionsInTableView:(UITableView *)tableView { return 1; } - (NSInteger)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView numberOfRowsInSection:(NSInteger)section { return 1; } - (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { static NSString *CellIdentifier = @"Cell"; UITableViewCell *cell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:CellIdentifier]; if (cell == nil) { cell = [[[UITableViewCell alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewCellStyleDefault reuseIdentifier:CellIdentifier] autorelease]; } // Configure the cell.   • ASP.NET MVC- Bizarre problem - suddennly lost all LINQTO SQL data context objects

    - by MikeD
I was making an edit to a long existing project. Specifically I added some fields to a table and had to delete the table from the LINQTOSQL designer and re-add it. doesn't Also had to do the same for a view. Mode some other code changes and went to build . Now my project won't build because it can't resolve any of the data context objects (all tables and views) in my code. I don't know what I did or how this happeened. I have many tables and views in the project's L2S data context so I don't wont to try and do over. Please any suggestions on how to resolve this problem are greatly appreciated. Desparate! The error messages I am getting are the familiar The type or namespace name 'equipment' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?)

  • Microsoft Business Intelligence. Is what I am trying to do possible?

    - by Nai
Hi guys, I have been charged with the task of analysing the log table of my company's website. This table contains a user's click path throughout the website for a given session. My company is looking to understand/spot trends based on the 'click paths' of our users. In doing so, identify groups of users that take on a certain 'click path' based on age/geography and so on. As you can tell from the title, I am completely new to BI and its capabilities so I was wondering: Are our objectives attainable? How should I go about doing this? I am currently reading books online as well as other e-books I have found. All signs seem to suggest this is possible via sequence clustering. Although the exact implementation and tweaks involved are currently lost on me. Therefore, if anyone has first hand experience in such an undertaking, I would be awesome if you could share it here. Cheers!

  • Angularjs togglecheck error(not working as intended) with prechecked data

    - by crozzfire
I have this plunker where i have a button that opens a bootstrap modal dialog box. I the modal, when a course is selected(checked) from this list, it adds 3 to the $scope.planned and also increases the progress bar accordingly. Similarly it also reduces in the same way when a checkbox is unchecked. This is the function that does the above: $scope.toggleCheck = function (course) { //debugger var x = $scope.checkcoursefunction($scope.selectedCourses, course); if(x==true){ $scope.selectedCourses.splice($scope.selectedCourses.indexOf(course), 1); $scope.planned -= 3; } else{ if ($scope.selectedCourses.indexOf(course) === -1){ $scope.selectedCourses.push(course); $scope.planned += 3; } else { $scope.selectedCourses.splice($scope.selectedCourses.indexOf(course), 1); $scope.planned -= 3; } } $scope.getPercentage(); }; I have 2 services from where the controller fetches its data named Requirements and Planned Services. The table in the modal has a list of the requirements service data. I also have a function named checkplanneddetails() that checks if an item from this data is present in the requirements data. If present, they come in the table pre-checked. This is the function that checks: $scope.checkplanneddetails = function(course){ $scope.coursedetail = course; $scope.requirementcoursename = ($scope.coursedetail.course.subject).concat("-",$scope.coursedetail.course.course_no); for(var k = 0; k < $scope.planneddetails.length; k++){ if($scope.requirementcoursename==$scope.planneddetails[k].course_name){ $scope.selectedCourses.push(course); return true; } } return false; }; $scope.checkcoursefunction = function(arr, obj){ return (arr.indexOf(obj) != -1); } This works fine with bringing the data as checked. But the togglecheck() function does not work as they are supposed to with these checked details(they work in reverse). It always returns true(for var x in togglecheck) even after the splice function. Am i splicing the course correctly?

  • how to get group total in self refrenced data in data table ?

    - by Nikhil Vaghela
I have three columns in my data table. 1) ProductID 2) ProductParentID 3) ProductTotal ProductID and ProductParentID are self refrencing columns where i can set parent child relationship and get child rows based on my relationship. Let us say i have following data Product1     Product11     Product12     Product13         Product131         Product132         Product133 Product2     Product21     Product22     Product23 Next to above hierarchy in Product total column what i want is total of each child rows and sum of those child rows product total should be rolled up to it parent product. E.g if Product 131 total is 10,Product 13 total is 15 and Product 133 total is 5 then the product 13 total should be 30. The logic should work for n number of self hierarchy. Is there any functionality in data table itself where i can achieve this without iterating through each row and do it manually ? Thanks.

Somebody has an idea about this issue ? Thanks.

  • What stage of normalization is this? (moving repeating data into separate table)

    - by Sergio
Hi There, I have noticed that when designing a database I tend to shift any repeating sets of data into a separate table. For example, say I had a table of people, with each person living in a state. I would then move these repeating states into a separate table and reference them with foreign keys. However, what if I was not storing any more data about states. I would then have a table with StateID and State in. Is this action correct? State is dependant on the primary key of the users table, so does shifting it into its own table help with anything? Thanks,

  • Excel string manipulation to check data consistency

    - by chefsmart
Background information: - There are nearly 7000 individuals and there is data about their performances in one, two or three tests. Every individual has taken the 1st test (let's call it Test M). Some of those who have taken Test M have also taken Test I, and some of those who have taken Test I have also taken Test B. For the first two tests (M and I), students can score grades I, II, or III. Depending on the grades they are awarded points -- 3 for grade I, 2 for II, 1 for III. The last Test B is just a pass or a fail result with no grades. Those passing this test get 1 point, with no points for failure. (Well actually, grades are awarded, but all grades are given a common 1 point). An amateur has entered data to represent these students and their grades in an Excel file. Problem is, this person has done the worst thing possible - he has developed his own notation and entered all test information in a single cell --- and made my life hell. The file originally had two text columns, one for individual's id, and the second for test info, if one could call it that. It's horrible, I know, and I am suffering. In the image, if you see "M-II-2 I-III-1" it means the person got grade II in Test M for 2 points and grade III in Test I for 1 point. Some have taken only one test, some two, and some three. When the file came to me for processing and analyzing the performance of students, I sent it back with instructions to insert 3 additional columns with only the grades for the three tests. The file now looks as follows. Columns C and D represent grades I, II, and III using 1,2 and 3 respectively. Column C is for Test M, column D for Test I. Column E says BA (B Achieved!) if the individual has passed Test B. Now that you have the above information, let's get to the problem. I don't trust this and want to check whether data in column B matches with data in columns C,D and E. That is, I want to examine the string in column B and find out whether the figures in columns C,D and E are correct. All help is really appreciated. P.S. - I had exported this to MySQL via ODBC and that is why you are seeing those NULLs. I tried doing this in MySQL too, and really will accept a MySQL or an Excel solution, I don't have a preference. Edit : - See file with sample data

  • LINQ DataLoadOptions - Retrieval of data via Fulltext/Broken Foreign Key Relationship

    - by Alex
I've hit a brick wall: I have an SQL Function: FUNCTION [dbo].[ContactsFTS] (@searchtext nvarchar(4000)) RETURNS TABLE AS RETURN SELECT * FROM Contacts INNER JOIN CONTAINSTABLE(Contacts, *, @searchtext) AS KEY_TBL ON Contacts.Id = KEY_TBL.[KEY] which I am calling via LINQ public IQueryable<ContactsFTSResult> SearchByFullText(String searchText) { return db.ContactsFTS(searchText); } I am projecting the ContactsFTSResult collection into a List<Contact> which is then given to my viewmodel. Here is the problem: My Contacts table (and therefore the Contact object created via LINQ to SQL) has multiple FK relationships to other information, such as Contact.BillingAddressId is an FK to an Address.Id. That information is missing after I do the fulltext search (e.g. if I try to access Contact.BillingAddress it is null). Can I add this information somehow via DataLoadOptions? I tried LoadWith<Contact>(c => c.BillingAddress) but this doesn't work, I assume because of the fact that I'm calling the function instead of doing the whole query via LINQ.

  • Many-To-Many dimensional model

    - by Mevdiven
Folks, I have a dimension table called DIM_FILE which holds information of the files we received from customers. Each file has detail records which constitutes my FACT table, CUST_DETAIL. In the main process, file is gone through several stages and each stage tags a status to it. Long in a short, I have many-to-many relationship. Any ideas around star schema dimensional modeling. A customer record only belong to a single file and a file can have multiple statuses. • Updating Linking Tables

    - by Sasha
I've currently adding a bit of functionality that manages holiday lettings on top of a CMS that runs on PHP and MySQL. The CMS stores the property details on a couple of tables, and I'm adding a third table (letting_times) that will contain information about when people are staying at the property. Basic functionality would allow the user to add new times when a guest is staying, edit the times that the guest is staying and remove the booking if the guest no longer wants to stay at the property. Right now the best way that I can think of updating the times that the property is occupied is to delete all the times contained in the letting_times database and reinsert them again. The only other way that I can think to do this would be to include the table's primary key and do an update if that is present and has a value, otherwise do an insert, but this would not delete rows of data if they are removed. Is there a better way of doing this?

  • Pruning data for better viewing on loglog graph - Matlab

    - by Geodesic
Hi Guys, just wondering if anyone has any ideas about an issue I'm having. I have a fair amount of data that needs to be displayed on one graph. Two theoretical lines that are bold and solid are displayed on top, then 10 experimental data sets that converge to these lines are graphed, each using a different identifier (eg the + or o or a square etc). These graphs are on a log scale that goes up to 1e6. The first few decades of the graph (< 1e3) look fine, but as all the datasets converge ( 1e3) it's really difficult to see what data is what. There's over 1000 data points points per decade which I can prune linearly to an extent, but if I do this too much the lower end of the graph will suffer in resolution. What I'd like to do is prune logarithmically, strongest at the high end, working back to 0. My question is: how can I get a logarithmically scaled index vector rather than a linear one? My initial assumption was that as my data is lenear I could just use a linear index to prune, which lead to something like this (but for all decades): //%grab indicies per decade ind12 = find(y >= 1e1 & y <= 1e2); indlow = find(y < 1e2); indhigh = find(y > 1e4); ind23 = find(y >+ 1e2 & y <= 1e3); ind34 = find(y >+ 1e3 & y <= 1e4); //%We want ind12 indexes in this decade, find spacing tot23 = round(length(ind23)/length(ind12)); tot34 = round(length(ind34)/length(ind12)); //%grab ones to keep ind23keep = ind23(1):tot23:ind23(end); ind34keep = ind34(1):tot34:ind34(end); indnew = [indlow' ind23keep ind34keep indhigh']; loglog(x(indnew), y(indnew)); But this causes the prune to behave in a jumpy fashion obviously. Each decade has the number of points that I'd like, but as it's a linear distribution, the points tend to be clumped at the high end of the decade on the log scale. Any ideas on how I can do this?

  • Grouping data in an NSMutable array

    - by padatronic
Hi guys, I have an array i load with lots of data from an xml file. I am displaying this on a tableview and then when you click on say an author it goes through to display all their books. At the minute my NSMutableArray has an entry for every each book with title, author and so on. So in the table of authors it display the authors name as many times as they have books. I want to group the array data so the table only displays each author once but the author contains an array of his books. Seems simple but I can't find a group method for arrays. thanks peeps

  • Compressing large text data before storing into db?

    - by Steel Plume
Hello, I have application which retrieves many large log files from a system LAN. Currently I put all log files on Postgresql, the table has a column type TEXT and I don't plan any search on this text column because I use another external process which nightly retrieves all files and scans for sensitive pattern. So the column value could be also a BLOB or a CLOB, but now my question is the following, the database has already its compression system, but could I improve this compression manually like with common compressor utilities? And above all WHAT IF I manually pre-compress the large file and then I put as binary into the data table, is it unuseful as database system provides its internal compression?

  • Can you automatically create a mysqldump file that doesn't enforce foreign key constraints?

    - by Tai Squared
When I run a mysqldump command on my database and then try to import it, it fails as it attempts to create the tables alphabetically, even though they may have a foreign key that references a table later in the file. There doesn't appear to be anything in the documentation and I've found answers like this that say to update the file after it's created to include: set FOREIGN_KEY_CHECKS = 0; ...original mysqldump file contents... set FOREIGN_KEY_CHECKS = 1; Is there no way to automatically set those lines or export the tables in the necessary order (without having to manually specify all table names as that can be tedious and error prone)? I could wrap those lines in a script, but was wondering if there is an easy way to ensure I can dump a file and then import it without manually updating it.

  • C++ Class Templates (Queue of a class)

    - by Dalton Conley
Ok, so I have my basic linked Queue class with basic functions such as front(), empty() etc.. and I have transformed it into a template. Now, I also have a class called Student. Which holds 2 values: Student name and Student Id. I can print out a student with the following code.. Student me("My Name", 2); cout << me << endl; Here is my display function for student: void display(ostream &out) const { out << "Student Name: " << name << "\tStudent Id: " << id << "\tAddress: " << this << endl; } Now it works fine, you can see the basic output. Now I'm declaring a queue like so.. Queue<Student> qstu; Storing data in this queue is fine, I can add new values and such.. now what I'm trying to do is print out my whole queue of students with: cout << qstu << endl; But its simply returning an address.. here is my display function for queues. void display(ostream & out) const { NodePointer ptr; ptr = myFront; while(ptr != NULL) { out << ptr->data << " "; ptr = ptr->next; } out << endl; } Now, based on this, I assume ptr-data is a Student type and I would assume this would work, but it doesn't. Is there something I'm missing? Also, when I Try: ptr->data.display(out); (Making the assumtion ptr-data is of type student, it does not work which tells me I am doing something wrong. Help on this would be much appreciated!

We have a need to fit database in 4G in order to use ms sql express edition. I started from 7G database, and found a lot of not needed records, and deleted them. After Shrink database size is 4.6G, and 748MB is free (according to database properties). However, when i execute exec sp_spaceused i am having interesting results: DatabaseName Database_size unallocation space xxxxxx 4726.50 MB 765.42 MB Reserved Data index_size unused 3899472 KB 1608776 KB 1448400 KB 842296 KB Any ideas, how can i bite at least some of this unused space? Also I know table, which occupied it. update: is it worth to try to rebuild table indexes? ALTER INDEX ALL ON Production.Product REBUILD

  • Save HashMap data into SQLite

    - by Matthew
    I'm Trying to save data from Json into SQLite. For now I keep the data from Json into HashMap. I already search it, and there's said use the ContentValues. But I still don't get it how to use it. I try looking at this question save data to SQLite from json object using Hashmap in Android, but it doesn't help a lot. Is there any option that I can use to save the data from HashMap into SQLite? Here's My code. MainHellobali.java // Hashmap for ListView ArrayList<HashMap<String, String>> all_itemList; @Override protected void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.activity_main_helloballi); all_itemList = new ArrayList<HashMap<String, String>>(); // Calling async task to get json new getAllItem().execute(); } private class getAllItem extends AsyncTask<Void, Void, Void> { @Override protected Void doInBackground(Void... arg0) { // Creating service handler class instance ServiceHandler sh = new ServiceHandler(); // Making a request to url and getting response String jsonStr = sh.makeServiceCall(url, ServiceHandler.GET); Log.d("Response: ", "> " + jsonStr); if (jsonStr != null) { try { all_item = new JSONArray(jsonStr); // looping through All Contacts for (int i = 0; i < all_item.length(); i++) { JSONObject c = all_item.getJSONObject(i); String item_id = c.getString(TAG_ITEM_ID); String category_name = c.getString(TAG_CATEGORY_NAME); String item_name = c.getString(TAG_ITEM_NAME); // tmp hashmap for single contact HashMap<String, String> allItem = new HashMap<String, String>(); // adding each child node to HashMap key => value allItem.put(TAG_ITEM_ID, item_id); allItem.put(TAG_CATEGORY_NAME, category_name); allItem.put(TAG_ITEM_NAME, item_name); // adding contact to contact list all_itemList.add(allItem); } } catch (JSONException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } } else { Log.e("ServiceHandler", "Couldn't get any data from the url"); } return null; } } I have DatabasehHandler.java and AllItem.java too. I can put it in here if its necessary. Thanks before ** Add Edited Code ** // looping through All Contacts for (int i = 0; i < all_item.length(); i++) { JSONObject c = all_item.getJSONObject(i); String item_id = c.getString(TAG_ITEM_ID); String category_name = c.getString(TAG_CATEGORY_NAME); String item_name = c.getString(TAG_ITEM_NAME); DatabaseHandler databaseHandler = new DatabaseHandler(this); //error here "The Constructor DatabaseHandler(MainHellobali.getAllItem) is undefined }

  • ASP.NET and SQL server with huge data sets

    - by Jake Petroules
I am developing a web application in ASP.NET and on one page I am using a ListView with paging. As a test I populated the table it draws from with 6 million rows. The table and a schema-bound view based off it have all the necessary indexes and executing the query in SQL Server Management Studio with SELECT TOP 5 returned in < 1 second as expected. But on the ASP.NET page, with the same query, it seems to be selecting all 6 million rows without any limit. Shouldn't the paging control limit the query to return only N rows rather than the entire data set? How can I use these ASP.NET controls to handle huge data sets with millions of records? Does SELECT [columns] FROM [tablename] quite literally mean that for the ListView, and it doesn't actually inject a TOP <n> and does all the pagination at the application level rather than the database level?

  • Speeding up PostgreSQL query where data is between two dates

    - by Roger
I have a large table ( 50m rows) which has some data with an ID and timestamp. I need to query the table to select all rows with a certain ID where the timestamp is between two dates, but it currently takes over 2 minutes on a high end machine. I'd really like to speed it up. I have found this tip which recommends using a spatial index, but the example it gives is for IP addresses. However, the speed increase (436s to 3s) is impressive. How can I use this with timestamps?
