  • CMS Layout Problem

    I made a small page (http://www.ovlu.li) using CMS Made Simple (http://www.cmsmadesimple.org/). It looks more or less okay in all browser, but the problem is, if a resize the window to a smaller size, sometimes the layout of the subnavigation layer is destroyed. Instead of getting smaller, all the elements are ordered more or less randomly. Any hints why?

  • facebook and twitter buttons doesn't work

    I am building a website in dreamweaver cs5. for some reason, the facebook like button and twitter share as well as follow button doesn't work. facebook like button shows nothing. (in the area, chrome says page cannot be found), twitter buttons show the hyperlink tweet and it tweets but the icon doesn't show up. The code for both are generated from facebook and twitter itself. I haven't hosted the site yet. I and coding and previewing it. Is that the reason for them not to work? I also tried addthis.com widget. It didn't show up as it should have. Please help!     Hello all, I have tags in a html list, here is an example of two tags. <div class="tags"> <ul> <li> <a onclick="tag_search('tag1');" href="#">tag1 <span class="num-active">1</span></a> </li> <li> <a onclick="tag_search('tag2');" href="#">tag2 <span class="num-active">1</span></a> </li> </ul> </div> I would like to write a function that I can pass a string to, that will match the strings in the a hyperlink i.e. "tag1" or "tag2", if there is a match then increment the number in the span, if not then add a new li. The bit I am having trouble with is how do I search for a string in the div with class tags and then when I find a match identifying the element. I can't even do the first bit as I am use to using an ID or a Class.   • Is the W3 standard a major factor when google decides SERP position?

    I have a dynamic php website which index only has around 800 errors according to the w3 validator online. I have tried checking major websites like ebay, stackoverflow and others also, all with around 400 errors. So my first thought is, what good is that validator when it always displays errors? Secondly, will the errors affect my SERP ranking? ie, will me fixing these errors as good as I can increase my Google search position? Thanks

  • How to override <base> tag without removing the tag itself?

    I'm trying to add some internal links(in the format of a content table, to be able to facilitate webpage navigation) to this site in which a tag is used. Now obviously due to the base tag, every other relative tag will be relative to the base tag href. But in order for me to create this internal content table with the links pointing to different parts of the specific page, i need to get the default URL (before base tag is in effect) so the internal links can work properly. Is there a way to do get around the base tag and accomplish this? PS: if the question is unclear please don't hesitate to ask so i can reformulate Thanks in advance, :D :D

    I have the following expression which will be used as date validation in the HTML5 "pattern" attribute. ?:0[1-9]|1[0-9]|2[0-9])|(?:(?!02)(?:0[1-9]|1[0-2])-(?:30))|(?:(?:0[13578]|1[02])-31))-(?:(?:0[1-9]|1[0-2])-(?:19|20)[0-9]{2} I want it to allow only valid dates, using "-" as a separator. This means up to 29th in February if it's a leap year, and 30/31 for other months respectively. Currently, it only allows years starting with 2 (2012) and months up to 12 (December). But it limits the day to 29 regardless of which month. Can anybody help me fix it?

    Already checked exisitng questions for this, but didn't find an exact match. My aim is to replace characters (like spaces) on a webpage with a small image using css. Example: <p><span>This is a text</span></p> becomes: <p><span>ThisIMGisIMGaIMGtext</span></p> (where IMG stands for a visible image (middot-pic for a space f.e.)) I cannot think of a suitable css selector. But myabe one of you guys (or girls) know a solution. Is this possible at all?

  • Google Chrome window.open height includes URL bar

    When we open a window using: window.open("/calendar",'calendar','width=950,height=576,titlebar=no,statusbar=no,menubar=no,resizable=no,scrollbars=no'); Firefox 3 and IE 7 open it to have a content area height of 576 plus the browser items (URL bar, status bar, etc). Chrome however opens it to have a total height of 576 meaning a scrollbar appears to the right of the content (and then the bottom because the width is now reduced). How can I get around this? It's for a heavy layout part of a web app so it's not just a matter of "let the user scroll", the client doesn't want that. Has anyone come across this? I don't mind browser sniffing and opening the window bigger, but I know that's yucky these days.

  • Array of Sentences?

    Javascript noob here.... I am trying to build a site that will help my kids read predefined sentences from a select group, then when a button is clicked it will display one of the sentences. Is an array the best option for this? For example, I have this array (below) and on the click of a button I would like one of these sentences to appear on the page. <script type="text/javascript"> Sentence = new Array() Sentence[0]='Can we go to the park.'; Sentence[1]='Where is the orange cat? Said the big black dog.'; Sentence[2]='We can make the bird fly away if we jump on something.' Sentence[3]='We can go down to the store with the dog. It is not too far away.'
