hi,
i have a proj where on change of select box i am loading data from server. how do i make sure that until the data is loaded user cant do anything else on the page ..
I am doing a notification system. When a new post is published, users will be notified immediately by an small notification on the screen.
I am currently using this:
setInterval(function(){
checkForChanges();
}, 2*1000);
function checkForChanges(){
$.post("http://"+ document.domain + "/posts/checkForChanges/",
function(dat){
if(dat>0){
....
/*create notification*/
}
});
}
And i was wondering if this is the correct way to do it or not. Because, this is calling a PHP function every 2 seconds and making a query to the database.
In case there are no new changes, it won't do anything...
Thanks.
All I want to do is on .click() is .animate #slip, essentially Im changing the css at the moment from top: 10px to top: 0px
Instead of it being quite clunky i'd like to animate the movement on the change of CSS.
Currently use .toggleClass to achieve this:
$("#div1").click(function() {
$("#div2t").toggleClass('min');
});
Hi,
I have created image gallery slider, the images of which scale with the window size. My problem is I can't seem to create the right formula to ensure that the slider is at the right position when the window is scaled.
If I am at the first image and the slider 'left' offset is 0 then the scaling works fine and my offset is correct, however when I am on image two and my slider is offset by say -1500 and then the window is resized, the slider is then at the wrong offset.
Taking this into account I figured I could just add / subtract the new window size difference from the slider offset and therefore have everything in the right position. I was wrong. It works for the first two images but then If I am at the end of my slider on the last image I get a nice big gap between the end of the last image and the border of the page.
Can someone please show my where I am going wrong please? I've spent days on this :(
The relevant code is as follows:
$(window).bind('resize', function(event, delta) {
/* Resize work images - resizes all to document width */
resizeWorkImages('div.page.work div#work ul');
/* Position slider controls */
positionSliderControls();
/* Get the difference between the old window width and the new */
var windowDiff = (gLastWindowWidth - $(window).width()) * -1;
/* Apply difference to slider left position */
var newSliderLeftPos = stripPx($('div.page.work div#work ul').css('left')) - windowDiff;
/* Apply to slider */
$('div.page.work div#work ul').css('left',newSliderLeftPos+'px')
/* Update gSlider settings */
gSlider.update();
/* Record new window width */
gLastWindowWidth = $(window).width();
});

To empty a div and replace it with an image I am using:
$(this).html('');
$('<img/>', {
src: 'blah.gif'
}).appendTo(this);
Is there a better way to do this?
Hi ,
I'm trying to get all my form inputs and then create with them an xml string containing there values in order to send them via ajax.
i want this :
<form id="formtest">
<input type="text" name="test1" id="test1"/>
<input type="text" name="test2" id="test2"/>
<input type="text" name="test3" id="test3"/>
<input type="text" name="test4" id="test4"/>
<input type="text" name="test5" id="test5"/>
</form>
to become:
<formtest>
<test1></test1>
<test2></test2>
<test3></test3>
<test4></test4>
<test5></test5>
</formtest>
How can this be done?
Thank's In Advance.
$('.testimonials blockquote p')
.prepend('“')
.append('”');
...prepends and appends TWICE. How do I prepend ldquo + whatever content inside the p + rdquo?
Thanks!
I have a table of names and ages that I want the user to be able to sort. When the page initally loads, sortList lists the rows in order from oldest to youngest, and then secondarily from A to Z.
I want the same thing (a SECONDARY alphabetical sort) when the user actually clicks on the age <th>, but sortForce is making the alphabetical sort primary. Is there an alternative?
$('#super_results table').tablesorter({
sortForce: [[0,0]],
sortList: [[1,1],[0,0]]
});
Or am I misunderstanding sortForce? Documentation here.
I have an array of divs and I want to iterate over each div and pass it to sparklines. like so:
var divs = $("#wrapper>div");
var data = ["1:2:3:4", "4:3:2:3:1"];
var i;
for(i = 0; i<data.length; i++){
divs[i].sparkline(data[i]);
}
I get the error "divs[i].sparkline" is not a function. But if I do this
divs.sparkline([1,2,3,4]);
its fine all the divs get the linegraph but with the same data.
Does anyone have any suggestions but how to use sparkline when iterating over divs?
Thanks!

}
});
}
I want to post the data to testing.php but if i got special characters like & sign. it will create the problem. How do i go about it?
Thank You
Hi guys, I have an HTML form consisting of some text-inputs. I'm using jqTransform to prettify them. Now I want to add two buttons that will add and remove text-input dynamically.
Adding is easy:
$('#container').append('');
$('input[name=foo]:last-child').jqTransInputText();
But removing is tricky:
$('WHAT-TO-SELECT').remove();
I can't do "input[name=foo]:last-child" since it's already wrapped (some divs) by jqTransform. To put this question in another way: How do I select based on "who has child of type input with 'foo' as its name"?
<ul>
<li><a href="#">one</a></li>
<li><a href="#">two</a></li>
<li><a href="#">three</a></li>
</ul>
I'd like to show only one li at a time using slide effect, thats it. I'd like to avoid using plugins for something as simple as this.
Thanks in advance for your help.
How can I call a function once at the end of an each loop.
This alerts 'finished' on each loop, I want it once when the loop has finished.
$(function(){
var imgArr=[];
var lis = $('#gallery li')
lis.each(function(){
imgArr.push(this.outerHTML);
$(this).remove();
alertFun();
})
function alertFun(){
alert('finished');
}
})
I have the following function:
var emptyFields = false;
function checkNotEmpty(tblName, columns, className){
emptyFields = false;
$("."+className+"").each(function() {
if($.trim($(this).val()) === "" && $(this).is(":visible")){
emptyFields = true;
return false; // break out of the each-loop
}
});
if (emptyFields) {
alert("Please fill in current row before adding a new one.")
} else {
AddRow_OnButtonClick(tblName,columns);
}
}
Its checking that all elements in the table are not empty before adding a new row, and I only need to check that the last row of the table has at least an element which its not empty and not the whole table.
The className its applied to the table. Please notice, that the problem I have its checking the last row and only one element of the row has to have some text in it. (e.g. each row has 5 textboxes at least one textbox need to have some text inside in order to be able to add another row, otherwise, the alert comes up).
Any help would be apreciated.
Thanks
i want move up the object, delay 1000ms , then hide it,
i get the code:
$("#test").animate({"top":"-=80px"},1500)
.animate({"top":"-=0px"},1000)
.animate({"opacity":"0"},500);
i use ".animate({"top":"-=0px"},1000)" to implement delay, it's not good.
i want:
$("#test").animate({"top":"-=80px"},1500)
.sleep(1000)
.animate({"opacity":"0"},500);
any idea? thanks! :)
Take the following example:
$.fn.foo = function() {
var $input = $('<input type="text"/>');
var $button_one = $('<button>One</button>');
var $button_two = $('<button>Two</button>');
$button_one.click(function(){
$input.val('hey');
});
$button_two.click(function(){
$input.replaceWith( $input.val('').clone( true ) );
});
this.append($input, $button_one, $button_two);
};
Check the demo: http://jsbin.com/ezexah/1/edit
Now click "one" and you should see "hey" in the input. Next click "two" and then click "one" again and it doesn't work. Even using the true option in clone to copy all events it still does not work. Any ideas?
I have a button named searchReportButton. On this button click, I need to check session value from server using a ajax web method "Error.aspx/CheckSessionExpiry".This is done in checkSession javascript function. The checkSession is not returning anything now - instead it is handling the required operation based on the result (redirecting to error page).
I need to return the result of ajax web method to the Main Caller. How can we do this return?
Main Caller
searchReportButton.click(function () {
checkSession();
//Remainging Code
});
Helper
function checkSession() {
var win = 101;
$.ajax(
{
type: "POST",
url: "Error.aspx/CheckSessionExpiry",
data: '{"winNumber": "' + win + '"}',
contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8",
dataType: "json",
success: handleSessionResult
}
);
}
Result Helper
function handleSessionResult(result) {
if (result.hasOwnProperty("d"))
{
result = result.d
}
if (result == "ACTIVE")
{
window.location.href("Error.aspx");
return false;
}
//alert(result);
}
Here's another clichéd problem, but I couldn't find an exact match to this.
I haven't posted any source here, as you can freely see all that is there on the link. :-)
Statement:I have a web page at http://agrimgupta.com/antaragni/
Disclaimer: Pardon me for the pathetic coding on that page. ;-) It was done on a very short interval. Improvements will be done at a later stage.
Observation: This page is functioning normally on my localhost on all browsers.
Problem: IE 8 is crawling (nearly hanging) while loading this page from the website. Although it is working fine on localhost. When on the website, It fails to render the mouseover effects, doing them in almost what seems like a minute.
Question: How to resolve this stuck up of IE? It is necessary to resolve this.
Thanks in Advance
Sorry for such a simple question but I can't seem to find the solution.
I am trying to fade in and out some divs.
Divs have an ID of "div1", "div2", "div3".
My code is:
var Divs = new Array("div1", "div2", "div3");
I want to fade out one div and then fade in the next on top of it.
I have a setinterval that runs every 5 seconds and checked it works.
Inside it is this code:
$(Divs[1]).fadeOut(1000);
$(Divs[2]).fadeIn(1000);
However nothing happens when the timer method is ran. Any ideas?

Hello,
Is it possible to get the size of an element after resizing it using $(el).css()?
My code is:
function resize() {
$(".combobox").css('width', '100%');
var width = $(".combobox").width();
}
I've get the real value of the combobox only after calling the function a second time. The first time is gets the width before executing $(".combobox").css('width', '100%');
I suppose this is fault of the DOM not being recreated after the .css(). Is there any way to force DOM reloading?
Thanks in advance!
$('#customerAddress').text().replace(/\xA0/,"").replace(/\s+/," ");
Going after the value in a span (id=customerAddress) and I'd like to reduce all sections of whitespace to a single whitespace. The /\s+/ whould work except this app gets some character 160's between street address and state/zip
What is a better way to write this? this does not currently work.
