• Display a "Waiting Message" before the POST form send

  I have a upload file form, when you hit Submit it send the file to my server, but it takes a while, in the mean time i need to tell the user wait in order to get the file uploaded, because he can press Submit again because there is no menssage to prevent him. So, the user fill a few fields in the form, including a file. When he Send the form it sends the variables via POST to the same page: <form action="<?php echo $_SERVER['PHP_SELF']; ?>" enctype="multipart/form-data" method="post"> A php script detect the page now have POST variables a do something. In the time between the send action and the page reload i need to display a mensage, how can i do that??? Thanks It will be nice if you now how to trigger that with colorbox. I know how to use it from a link but no from this POST action.

  I am developing an asp.net application that requires users to upload/view various documents. Rather then reinvent the wheel I was thinking about using a 3rd party service like Scribd to handle these documents and integrate it into my app via their API; I really like their ipaper viewer too. My concern is some of these documents will be sensitive data. Even though Scribd's FAQ says they are equipped to handle sensitive information, I am a little hesitant to trust an unpaid service that lacks an SLA. Has anyone used Scribd successfully for a similar task? Or can anyone recommend a better document management service?

• sscanf + c99 not working on some platforms ?

  When I compile a simple Hello World! program that uses the sscanf function on my local Debian lenny x64, it works. But when I upload the same program to the server running CentOS x86, it will not work. If I do not use sscanf, then the program works on both computers. gcc -std=c99 -O2 -pipe -m32 If I compile it with sscanf but without -std=c99, then it works on both computers. gcc -O2 -pipe -m32 What is the problem with sscanf and c99 on CentOS x86 ? I thought that compiling with the -m32 flag would work on all Linuxes ? (I have limited access to the CentOS server, so I do not have access to error messages.)

  I try to send an specific iPad Application to iTunes connect before March 27 and as Apple says: "Only iPad apps compiled with iPhone SDK 3.2 beta 5 will be accepted for this initial review." So I compiled my application with iPhone SDK 3.2 beta 5 with a distribution provisioning profile. But when I upload my application on iTunes Connect, I have the following error: "The binary you uploaded was invalid. A pre-release beta version of the SDK was used to build the application" For sure, it's the beta 5 ! Have you got an idea? Thank you in advance. Fred

• Rails prettyPhoto does not show photo with jquery (instead redirect to photo page)

  i do all instruction for use prettyPhoto in https://github.com/hiq5/prettyphoto-rails. and i do this to show a single photo( not gallery ) =link_to image_tag(photo.photo_url(:thumb).to_s, :alt => photo.name ,:class => "img-polaroid"), photo.photo_url, :rel => 'prettyPhoto' but still redirect to photo url and show photo, and doesn't use jQuery to show it on the current page. i check it with chrome development tools, there isn't any error. i use haml to generate views (instead erb), and carrierwave to upload photos. by the way I use twitter bootstrap. any help is appreciated.

  Is it possible to lock a file to stop it being opened while GD library is accessing it? What I am looking to achieve is similar to a database 'serialzable' level of isolation... I want to ensure that only one session/user can access an image at a time to stop a 'dirty read'. May application allows users to add an image of choice to a bigger image. for example the big image is empty Raj & Janet upload their images Raj's session opens the big image. 1 ms later Janet's session opens the big image. Raj's session add's his image and saves the big image 1 ms later Janet's session adds his image and saves its version of the big image. As a result Raj's image is not in the final image as Janet's version overwrote it. I hope that makes it clear enough.

  I'm getting a paperclip error every time that I upload an image: [paperclip] An error was received while processing: #<Paperclip::NotIdentifiedByImageMagickError: /tmp/stream20100531-1921-uvlewk-0 is not recognized by the 'identify' command.> I'm running: Ubuntu 10.04, Imagemagick 6.5.1-0 (via apt-get), Paperclip 3.2.1.1 My path to identify is 'usr/bin/identify' and have confirmed Imagemagick works via command line I've tried putting adding the path to the options, but to no avail. I've tried: Paperclip.options[:command_path] = "usr/bin" or Paperclip.options.merge!(:command_path => "/usr/bin") in environment.rb or config/initializers/paperclip.rb. Though it makes no rational sense, I also tried "usr/local/bin" since this is the default for most people. Any thoughts on getting around this? Thanks!

  Hello, I have not been able to find detailed documentation about the Microsoft Flight Simulator SDK, so I have a couple of questions regarding its capabilities. I am currently running FS2004(could buy FSX if needed) and would like to know if I could add moving or static boats through the SDK. Ideally, the boat's position would be controlled by an external program at runtime. Secondly, can i access the flight management system through the SDK? I would like to upload a custom flight path through an external program while the plane is flying. So why the plane would follow the original flight path I would like to be able to change it on the go. Thanks

  I have a silverlight app. When I develop I have it pick up its data from a local URL: http://localhost/theapp/data/... however, when it is online, I want it to pick up its data from an online URL: http://www.tanguay.info/... Currently I have a variable which I switch before I compile and upload: bool silverlightAppIsLive = true; which I use to determine whether or not to get data from the first or second URL above. Is there a way for me to determine this automatically in code without setting the variable manually?

  i have been trying to uplaod an application to apple store for 2 days now..first they said the provisioning profile was not right due to which i had to make a new one and upload it again now after that problem was solved while uploading the new binary it said the version was same with the previous minor version(1.0 - which someone else uploaded in my company)..then i changed the version to 1.1 by changing it in target info properties..then i cleaned all targets quite the xcode,restarted the xcode and build the project again..it succeeded and now wen i uploaded it it still says the same error version same with the previous minor version is there any other way of changing the version number though in my info.plist file it is showing version:1.1??

• Concerns about reading a file in Flash 10

  Hi, I'd like to read an xml file on a user's machine (which can be kind of large). There's no point in me sending the file to my server as I can do all the work I need on the file right on the client's machine. Not sure if this is a good fit though, was wondering if anyone can answer these questions before I dive in: I see at adobe's website that Flash 10 has like 94% penetration, is this true, I thought it was just released not too long ago? After opening the xml file in flash, is it possible to just throw it to a javascript function on my same page for further processing? I'd like to go into flash world for as short a time as possible. Is it at all common to use flash for file upload stuff? I heard aol/flickr are? I would need to buy flash in order to do this right, they don't have a free ide/compiler yet? Thanks

For work I'm dealing with a large database (160 million + rows a year, 10 years of data) and have a quandary; A large percentage of the data we upload is null data and I'd like to stop it from being uploaded. The data in question is spatial in nature, so I have one table like so: idLocations (Auto-increment int, PK) X (float) Y (foat) Alwaysignore (Bool) Which is used as a reference in a second table like so: idLocations (Int, PK, "FK") idDates (Int, PK, "FK") DATA1 (float) DATA2 (float) ... DATA7 (float) So, Ideally I'd like to find a method where I can do something like: INSERT INTO tblData(idLocations, idDates, DATA1, ..., DATA7) VALUES (...), ..., (...) WHERE VALUES(idLocations) NOT LIKE (SELECT FROM tblLocation WHERE alwaysignore=TRUE ON DUPLICATE KEY UPDATE DATA1=VALUES(DATA1) So, for my large batch of input data (250 values in a block), ignore the inserts where the idLocations matches an idLocations values flagged with alwaysignore. It's because I have like 100 files already in this format and I need to upload to a website, I have the mp4 file embeded in the site already and the file played changes according to php. but what I really need is a way to dynamically create a thumbnail or take a snapshot of the video file to display on the page.   I'm running the same command on 2 different servers. One works, the other doesn't. I'm running git clone https://blah.com:8443/blah.git On server A, it works fine. I get the objects, files, etc. no problems. • Which hosting will let me execute my own EXE with PHP?

  I have a task that PHP (or any server-side scripting language) isn't practical for. It involves a lot of file I/O, processing, etc. and it will execute a lot faster using the program I made in C instead of PHP. Do any hosts allow you to upload your own EXE files and run them on the server using PHP's exec, shell_exec, etc. functions? Do you need a dedicated server to do this? Also, I don't know if Facebook's PHP HipHop is out yet, but I really don't want to use that.

  I recently formatted my computer and updated to Windows 7. I backed up my keystore and tried to sign my apk with it but it gave me an error that said my certificate expires in 22yrs. which is just shy of what the market requires to upload the apk. So now I am stuck not being able to update my app... How did this happen? Is there a way to extend the lifetime of certificates so that I can update my app? Is there a way to verify this certificate against an old apk that has been uploaded to the market so that I can be sure I am trying to sign with the same certificate and I didn't have a mix up?   Hi all, The following code works fine on my WAMP localhost server, but when I try to upload it, to my webhoste, it don't and I'm a bit confused about what's wrong. The code is: <?php if(isset($_GET['menu'])) { if($_GET['menu'] == 3) { echo "<!--Gallery Scripts-->\n"; echo gallery(); } } ?> The purpose is that if the URL is saying: index.php?menu=3 it will run the function "gallery()" which will load the gallery. • Using Linux vs Windows for development

  On my servers I run everything on Linux/ Apache, but for offline preparation before upload of the projects I'm using Windows (Vista) with a local Apache/ WAMP, PHP, Python, GD_image installation and so on. My question, would it be much easier in terms of setting up a good environment if I were to use Linux, e.g. Ubuntu distribution, as development OS for these things? Would you know some pros and cons when it comes to Windows vs Linux in terms of web development? (As I'm using mostly web apps these days, switching the OS might be less of a problem. I would need a good replacement for my image editor, though, as I prefer Corel PhotoPaint and PSP4 over Gimp, last time I tried.)
