• What tools do you use to share knowledge amongst developers in your company?

  I'm looking for some good tools that help to share tips, best practices, company standards, etc. amongs developers in my company. Two tools I'm currently considering are a wiki (screwturn wiki) or Sharepoint 2010. I'm wondering if there is something better suited to the task, or any input anyone has on this subject. I'd prefer something that's windows based (i.e. runs on IIS, can authenticate users against Active Directory etc) but I am open to anything.

• Convert from float to QByteArray

  Is there a quick way to convert a float value to a byte wise (hex) representation in a QByteArray? Have done similar with memcpy() before using arrays, but this doesn't seem to work too well with QByteArray. For example: memcpy(&byteArrayData,&floatData,sizeof(float)); Can go the other way just fine using: float *value= (float *)byteArrayData.data(); Am I just implementing this wrong or is there a better way to do it using Qt?   What are the most reliable encodings for sending email? I had some problems recently with .NET's System.Net.Mail default of quoted-printable ('=0D=0A' scattered throughout the message). So I changed to iso-8859-1 for the body (set via alternative views), and 7bit for transfer (and base64 for embedded resources). Are there the better choices?

• jQuery Prototype conflict, alternative solutions

  I have a problem as I'm conditionally including the Prototype-based Lightbox script for IE6 as it works better than the jQuery plugin. Of course the two libraries conflict but the official solution is not really feasible for me as i would have to replace tons of $ with the alternative no-conflict syntax. Is there any other solution for me, keeping in mind that in my case it would be easier to have Prototype work nicely with jQuery than the other way around?

  I have a simple query over a table, which returns results like the following: id id_type id_ref 2702 5 31 2702 16 14 2702 17 3 2702 40 1 2702 26 4 And I would like to merge the results into a single row, for instance: id concatenation 2702 5,16,17,40,26:31,14,3,1,4 Is there any way to do this within a trigger? NB: I know I can use a cursor, but I would really prefer not to unless there is no better way.

  What do people think is the best JSF framework or library for a saving state longer than request scope (but w/o using session scope) that is backbutton/new window safe -- i.e. you have a "wizard"/multi-page form.   I was trying to run the following query UPDATE blog_post SET `thumbnail_present`=0, `thumbnail_size`=0, `thumbnail_data`='' WHERE `blog_post` NOT IN ( SELECT `blog_post` FROM blog_post ORDER BY `blog_post` DESC LIMIT 10) But Mysql doesn't allow 'LIMIT' in an 'IN' subquery. I think I can make a select to count the table rows and then make an ordered update limited by 'COUNT - 10', but I was wondering if there is a better way. Thanks in advance.

Currently when our tests run it pulls from these pages live but this can take ages to run sometimes, and it also feels like the tests should be testing more of our code - not just relying on them being up and responding (if that makes sense..). • Microsoft Surface: "Read" the tag value of an IdentityTag

  Hi, is it possible to read the value of an IdentityTag if you place it on the TagVisualizer, without having initalized it before? I would like to use the tags for registering a new object on the Surface but having all the "free" IdentityTags in a Collection for initalizing them all... There must be a better way to do in I think. But the TagVisualizer doesn't seem to do anything when you put a tag on it that it doesn't know.
