  • VS 2010 Server Explorer Database Showing No Tables

    - by Andy
I'm working on a .Net application that needs to read from an Oracle 10g database behind Siebel. In VS 2010 Server Explorer, I've created a connection using the OracleClient type connector with a reference to the Oracle TNS service name as the "server name." The "Test Connection" button shows that the connection is successful. However, in the Server Explorer, when I go to expand the Tables, no tables are shown. I know for a fact that there are 3000+ tables in the database (thanks Siebel). Anyone know what's happening here? I'd like to create an Entity Framework 4.0 Entity Data Model... Thanks for the help! • Debugging Visual Studio 2010 Unit Test and WCF Service in one IDE instance

    - by Dr.HappyPants
I have created a WCF service in Visual Studio 2010 along with some supporting assemblies. I have also created a test project which contains multiple unit tests for the service and the supporting assemblies. Right now I have them all in one solution with the Test project having a service reference (http) to the WCF service. If I debug the WCF service and select "Run checked tests" in a Test List I created, I can debug the WCF service without a problem. Note: I cannot select Debug Checked Tests while debugging the WCF service. (Because the IDE is already debugging?) If I open the Test project in another instance of VS 2010, debug the WCF service and then select "Debug Checked Tests" - I can debug both my tests and the WCF service. However - I would like to (and my question is) be able to debug my tests and my service in a single IDE. Is this possible?

  • Running your own GAE server

    - by h2g2java
The question http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2505265/how-difficult-is-it-to-migrate-away-from-google-app-engine triggered me to think about this issue again. I have read of someone running, production-wise, Google app engine development version on their own server. My questions are: Are there any security issues running GAE development on your own server in production mode and exposing it to the www? If so how to mitigate them? Can GAE dev be run on Amazon? Is it possible to port my GAE apps running on Google servers to a GAE running on Amazon, without code changes, but without changing any reference in using other gdata services such as google docs, youtube, gmail, etc. How to configure GAE dev server to use my own hadoop? Or to use Amazon's hadoop?

  • Why doesn't .NET find the OpenSSL.NET dll?

    - by Lazlo
EDIT (the whole question, it was too unclear) I want to use OpenSSL.NET The OpenSSL.NET install instructions page: INSTALL Make sure you have libeay32.dll and ssleay32.dll in the current working directory of your application or in your PATH. DONE In your .NET project, add a reference to the ManagedOpenSsl.dll assembly. DONE I have put libeay32.dll and ssleay32.dll in both my bin/Debug and bin/Release directories. I have also put them in system32. Here is my FULL code: using System; namespace ConsoleApplication1 { class Program { static void Main(string[] args) { try { OpenSSL.Crypto.RSA rsa = new OpenSSL.Crypto.RSA(); } catch (Exception e) { Console.WriteLine(e.InnerException.Message); } Console.Read(); } } } I get the following error: (Unable to load DLL 'libeay32') Here is the Process Monitor log (upon request): What am I doing wrong? Why isn't the DLL found?

  • Session variable getting lost using Firefox, works in IE

    - by user328422
I am setting a Session variable in an HttpHandler, and then getting its value in the Page_load event of an ASPX page. I'm setting it using public void ProcessRequest(HttpContext context) { HttpPostedFile file = context.Request.Files["Filedata"]; context.Session["WorkingImage"] = file.FileName; } (And before someone suggests that I check the validity of file.FileName, this same problem occurs if I hard-code a test string in there.) It's working just fine in IE, but in Firefox the Session Variable is not found, getting the "Object reference not set to an instance of an object" error in the following code: protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { string loc = Session["WorkingImage"].ToString(); } Has anyone encountered this problem - and hopefully come up with a means for passing the session variable?

  • How can a Delphi TForm / TPersistent object calculate its own construction and deserialization time?

    - by mjustin
For performance tests I need a way to measure the time needed for a form to load its definition from the DFM. All existing forms inherit a custom form class. To capture the current time, this base class needs overriden methods as "extension points": start of the deserialization process after the deserialization (can be implemented by overriding the Loaded procedure) the moment just before the execution of the OnFormCreate event So the log for TMyForm.Create(nil) could look like: - 00.000 instance created - 00.010 before deserialization - 01.823 after deserialization - 02.340 before OnFormCreate Which TObject (or TComponent) methods are best suited? Maybe there are other extension points in the form creation process, please feel free to make suggestions. Background: for some of our app forms which have a very basic structure (with some PageControls and QuantumGrids) I realized that it is not database access and other stuff in OnFormShow but the construction which took most of the time (around 2 seconds) which makes me wonder where this time is spent. As a reference object I will also build a mock form which has a similar structure but no code or datamodule connections and measure its creation time.

  • Lightweight Object->Database in python

    - by pehrs
I am in need of a lightweight way to store dictionaries of data into a database. What I need is something that: Creates a database table from a simple type description (int, float, datetime etc) Takes a dictionary object and inserts it into the database (including handling datetime objects!) If possible: Can handle basic references, so the dictionary can reference other tables I would prefer something that doesn't do a lot of magic. I just need an easy way to setup and get data into an SQL database. What would you suggest? There seems to be a lot of ORM software around, but I find it hard to evaluate them.

  • Where should I put my breakpoint to check XML Response string from a web service?

    - by burak ozdogan
Hi, You know, once you add a web reference to a webservice a wrapper code is generated by Visuel Studio. I was wondering if there is a method (or property) which is generated by Visual Studio whatever web service you add to your project so that I can put a breakpoint there and once the debugger stops there, I can simply read the response from web-service in an xml format (or should I say, soap). I don't want to use fiddler or a tool like that. Is it possible? Does such a place exist in the webservice wrapper code for all the added webservice Thank you, burak ozdogan

  • Tweepy + App Engine Example OAuth Help

    - by Wasauce
Hi I am trying to follow the Tweepy App Engine OAuth Example app in my app but am running into trouble. Here is a link to the tweepy example code: http://github.com/joshthecoder/tweepy-examples Specifically look at: http://github.com/joshthecoder/tweepy-examples/blob/master/appengine/oauth_example/handlers.py Here is the relevant snippet of my code [Ignore the spacing problems]: try: authurl = auth.get_authorization_url() request_token = auth.request_token db_user.token_key = request_token.key db_user.token_secret = request_token.secret db_user.put() except tweepy.TweepError, e: # Failed to get a request token self.generate('error.html', { 'error': e, }) return self.generate('signup.html', { 'authurl': authurl, 'request_token': request_token, 'request_token.key': request_token.key, 'request_token.secret': request_token.secret, }) As you can see my code is very similar to the example. However, when I compare the version of the request_token.key and request_token.secret that are rendered on my signup page (this is for the request_token.key and request_token.secret found in the datastore. Any guidance on what I am doing wrong here? Thanks! Reference Links:

  • Counting number of children in hierarchical SQL data

    - by moontear
    for a simple data structure such as so: ID parentID Text Price 1 Root 2 1 Flowers 3 1 Electro 4 2 Rose 10 5 2 Violet 5 6 4 Red Rose 12 7 3 Television 100 8 3 Radio 70 9 8 Webradio 90 For reference, the hierarchy tree looks like this: ID Text Price 1 Root |2 Flowers |-4 Rose 10 | |-6 Red Rose 12 |-5 Violet 5 |3 Electro |-7 Television 100 |-8 Radio 70 |-9 Webradio 90 I'd like to count the number of children per level. So I would get a new column "NoOfChildren" like so: ID parentID Text Price NoOfChildren 1 Root 8 2 1 Flowers 3 3 1 Electro 3 4 2 Rose 10 1 5 2 Violet 5 0 6 4 Red Rose 12 0 7 3 Television 100 0 8 3 Radio 70 1 9 8 Webradio 90 0 I read a few things about hierarchical data, but I somehow get stuck on the multiple inner joins on the parentIDs. Maybe someone could help me out here. moon

  • Explicit return form a Ruby method - implementation hiding, reuse and optimisations.

    - by Chris McCauley
Hi, Rather than allowing a Ruby method to blindly return the last statement evaluated, is there any advantage to returning nil explicitly? In terms of implementation hiding and reuse, it seems dangerous to blindly allow the last expression evaluated to be returned - isn't there a danger that a user will rely on this only to get a nasty surprise when the implementation is modified? Surely returning nil would be better unless an explicit return value was given. Following on, is there an optimisation that Ruby can make when the return is a simple type rather than a reference to a more complex object? Chris

  • Does a Collection<T> wrap an IList<T> or enumerate over the IList<T>?

    - by Brian Triplett
If I am exposing a internal member via a Collection property via: public Collection<T> Entries { get { return new Collection<T>(this.fieldImplimentingIList<T>); } } When this property is called what happens? For example what happens when the following lines of code are called: T test = instanceOfAbove.Entries[i]; instanceOfAbove[i] = valueOfTypeT; It's clear that each time this property is called a new reference type is created but what acctually happens? Does it simply wrap the IList<T> underneath, does it enumerate over the IList<T> and to create a new Collection<T> instance? I'm concerned about performance if this property is used in a for loop.

  • Why is my ServiceOperation method missing from my WCF Data Services client proxy code?

    - by Kev
I have a simple WCF Data Services service and I want to expose a Service Operation as follows: [System.ServiceModel.ServiceBehavior(IncludeExceptionDetailInFaults = true)] public class ConfigurationData : DataService<ProductRepository> { // This method is called only once to initialize service-wide policies. public static void InitializeService(IDataServiceConfiguration config) { config.SetEntitySetAccessRule("*", EntitySetRights.ReadMultiple | EntitySetRights.ReadSingle); config.SetServiceOperationAccessRule("*", ServiceOperationRights. All); config.UseVerboseErrors = true; } // This operation isn't getting generated client side [WebGet] public IQueryable<Product> GetProducts() { // Simple example for testing return (new ProductRepository()).Product; } Why isn't the GetProducts method visible when I add the service reference on the client?

  • Multiple synonym dictionary matches in PostgreSQL full text searching

    - by Ryan VanMiddlesworth
I am trying to do full text searching in PostgreSQL 8.3. It worked splendidly, so I added in synonym matching (e.g. 'bob' == 'robert') using a synonym dictionary. That works great too. But I've noticed that it apparently only allows a word to have one synonym. That is, 'al' cannot be 'albert' and 'allen'. Is this correct? Is there any way to have multiple dictionary matches in a PostgreSQL synonym dictionary? For reference, here is my sample dictionary file: bob robert bobby robert al alan al albert al allen And the SQL that creates the full text search config: CREATE TEXT SEARCH DICTIONARY nickname (TEMPLATE = synonym, SYNONYMS = nickname); CREATE TEXT SEARCH CONFIGURATION dxp_name (COPY = simple); ALTER TEXT SEARCH CONFIGURATION dxp_name ALTER MAPPING FOR asciiword WITH nickname, simple; What am I doing wrong? Thanks!

  • Delphi Unicode String Type Stored Directly at its Address

    - by Andreas Rejbrand
I want a string type that is Unicode and that stores the string directly at the adress of the variable, as is the case of the (Ansi-only) ShortString type. I mean, if I declare a S: ShortString and let S := 'My String', then, at @S, I will find the length of the string (as one byte, so the string cannot contain more than 255 characters) followed by the ANSI-encoded string itself. What I would like is a Unicode variant of this. That is, I want a string type such that, at @S, I will find a unsigned 32-bit integer containing the length of the string in bytes (or in characters, which is half the number of bytes) followed by the Unicode representation of the string. I have tried WideString, UnicodeString, and RawByteString, but they all appear only to store an adress at @S, and the actual string somewhere else (I guess this has do do with reference counting and such). I suspect that there is no built-in type to use, and that I have to come up with my own way of storing text the way I want (which actually is fun). Am I right?

  • How to specify argument attributes in CFscript? (CF9)

    - by Henry
In CF9 doc: Defining components and functions in CFScript, it says: /** *Comment text, treated as a hint. *Set metadata, including, optionally, attributes, in the last entries *in the comment block, as follows: *@metadataName metadataValue ... */ access returnType function functionName(arg1Type arg1Name="defaultValue1" arg1Attribute="attributeValue...,arg2Type arg2Name="defaultValue2" arg2Attribute="attributeValue...,...) functionAttributeName="attributeValue" ... { body contents } How do you specify arg1Attribute? I tried this: public void function setFirstname(string firstname="" displayName="first name"){} but it does NOT work. Also, how do you translate this to script-style? <cffunction name="setPerson"> <cfargument name="person" type="com.Person"/> </cffunction> I tried: function setPerson(com.Person person){} and it does NOT work either. "You cannot use a variable reference with "." operators in this context" it says.

  • Sub-classing TreeView in WinForms for mouse over tool tips

    - by Matt
Ok, this is a weird one. The expected behaviour for a TreeView control is that, if ShowNodeToolTips is set to false, then, when a label for a tree node exceeds the width of the control (or, more accurately, it's right hand edge is past the right hand edge of the client area), then a tooltip is shown above the node showing the full item's text. I'd like to disable that, because the above semantic doesn't always work, depending on what the treeview is contained within. So I have rolled my own, and got the tooltips to work (and line up better than the default one!) - but I would like to be able to disable the 'default' behaviour for situations where it would work natively. So, can anyone point me in the right direction as to which message to post to the TreeView in order to disable that behaviour? I have looked at the windows control reference, but couldn't find anything that looked like it might be the one.

  • Kohana ORM Aliasing and "Trying to get property of non-object"

    - by Toto
I have the following tables in the database: teams: id name matches: id team1_id team2_id I've defined the following ORM models in my Kohana application: class Match_Model extends ORM { protected $belongs_to = array('team1_id' => 'team', 'team2_id' => 'team'); } class Team_Model extends ORM { protected $has_many = array('matches'); } The following code in a controller: $match = ORM::factory('match',1); echo $match->team1_id->name; /* <-- */ Is throwing the following error on the linke marked with /* <--- */: Trying to get property of non-object The framework is yielding the value of the foreign key instead of a reference to a Match_Model instance as it should (giving the has_many and belongs_to properties stated). Am I missing something? Note: Just in case, I've added the irregular plural 'match' => 'matches' in application/config/inflector.php

  • Select a subset of foreign key elements in inlineformset_factory in Django

    - by Enis Afgan
Hello, I have a model with two foreign keys: class Model1(models.Model): model_a = models.ForeignKey(ModelA) model_b = models.ForeignKey(ModelB) value = models.IntegerField() Then, I create an inline formset class, like so: an_inline_formset = inlineformset_factory(ModelA, Model1, fk_name="model_a") and then instantiate it, like so: a_formset = an_inline_formset(request.POST, instance=model_A_object) Once this formset gets rendered in a template/page, there is ChoiceField associated with the model_b field. The problem I'm having is that the elements in the resulting drop down menu include all of the elements found in ModelB table. I need to select a subset of those based on some criteria from ModelB. At the same time, I need to keep the reference to the instance of model_A_object when instantiating inlineformset_factory and, therefore, I can't just use this example. Any suggestions?

  • How get Android 2.1 SDK to recognize new class: SignalStrength

    - by Doughy
The new Android 2.1 SDK (version 7) has a new class called SignalStrength: http://developer.android.com/reference/android/telephony/SignalStrength.html I updated my SDK in Eclipse to include the 2.1 add-on, and now I am trying to use this new class. However, when I go to do an import android.telephony.SignalStrength, it can't find it. Do I have to somehow reset my project to refresh the SDK so it knows about the new libraries? How can I get it to recognize this new class? Thanks.

How can I detect invalid code or what is invalid or any detail which can help me to fix problem? Code looks like this: std::map< std::string, std::string> cont; some_func( cont ); // getting parameter by reference and initialize it std::cout << cont[ "some_key" ] << '\n'; // getting segmentation fault here

  • DRY for JMeter tests

    - by jens
Is there a way to modularize JMeter tests. I have recorded several use cases for our application. Each of them is in a separate thread group in the same test plan. To control the workflow I wrote some primitives (e.g. postprocessor elements) that are used in many of these thread groups. Is there a way not to copy these elements into each thread group but to use some kind of referencing within the same test plan? What would also be helpful is a way to reference elements from a different file. Does anybody have any solutions or workarounds. I guess I am not the only one trying to follow the DRY principle...

  • Best practice for sharing code between OSX and IOS app

    - by Alberto
I am creating an iOS version of an existing OSX app and am wondering what the best practices are for sharing code between the two. The code in question only depends on the foundation framework and the Sqlite dynamic library, so it should compile and run fine on both platforms. It seems to me there are three possible options: Create a single project with and OSX and an IOS targets, add source files to each target as appropriate. Create two separate projects for the OSX and IOS apps, put shared code in a common location in the workspace and add it as reference to both projects. Create three projects: OSX app, IOS app and a shared static library with an OSX and an IOS targets; add each library target to the respective application. Is there any reason one of the above approaches may be better than the other two? If not, option 2 seems to be the simplest by far.

  • Database design: circular references

    - by SlappyTheFish
I have three database tables: users emails invitations Emails are linked to users by a user_id field. Invitations are also linked to users by a user_id field Emails can be created without an invitation, but every invitation must have an email. I would like to link the emails and invitations tables so it is possible to find the email for a particular invitation. However this creates a circular reference, both an invitation and an email record hold the id for the same user. Is this bad design and if so, how could I improve it? My feeling is that with use of foreign keys and good business logic, it is fine.
