  • How to copy a variable in JavaScript?

    - by Michael Stum
    I have this JavaScript code: for (var idx in data) { var row = $("<tr></tr>"); row.click(function() { alert(idx); }); table.append(row); } So I'm looking through an array, dynamically creating rows (the part where I create the cells is omitted as it's not important). Important is that I create a new function which encloses the idx variable. However, idx is only a reference, so at the end of the loop, all rows have the same function and all alert the same value. One way I solve this at the moment is by doing this: function GetRowClickFunction(idx){ return function() { alert(idx); } } and in the calling code I call row.click(GetRowClickFunction(idx)); This works, but is somewhat ugly. I wonder if there is a better way to just copy the current value of idx inside the loop? While the problem itself is not jQuery specific (it's related to JavaScript closures/scope), I use jQuery and hence a jQuery-only solution is okay if it works.

  • Need to determine button clicked in a JQuery mobile popup and perform actions based thereon

    - by Clifford
    I am having a problem with a JQM popup. The popup has 3 buttons, and the action taken in the main program depends on which button is clicked. The code in the main program is run more than once and I am not sure why. The simple example below uses an alert to display which button on the popup was clicked. When the popup is called the first time, it works as hoped, the 2nd time, the alert is displayed twice, the 3rd time, the alert is displayed 3 times, etc. <html> <head> <meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1"> <link rel="stylesheet" href="css/jquery.mobile-1.3.2.min.css" /> <script type="text/javascript" charset="utf-8" src="cordova-2.6.0.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="js/jquery-1.9.1.min.js"/></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="js/jquery.mobile-1.3.2.min.js"></script> <script> function doCustomDialog(text1,button1,button2,button3,callback) { $("#customDialog .customDialogDesc").text(text1); $("#customDialog .customDialogOption1").text(button1).on("click.customDialog", function(){ callback("option1"); }); $("#customDialog .customDialogOption2").text(button2).on("click.customDialog", function(){ callback("option2"); }); $("#customDialog .customDialogOption3").text(button3).on("click.customDialog", function(){ callback("option3"); }); $("#customDialog").popup("open"); } </script> </head> <body> <div data-role="page" id="mainPage"> <div data-role="content"> <INPUT type="button" id="confirm" value="Save data" /> <div data-role="popup" id="customDialog" data-title="Are you sure?" class="ui-content"> <p class ="customDialogDesc">???</p> <a href="#" class ="customDialogOption1" data-role="button" data-theme="b" data-rel="back">Yes</a> <a href="#" class ="customDialogOption2" data-role="button" data-theme="b" data-rel="back">No</a> <a href="#" class ="customDialogOption3" data-role="button" data-theme="b" data-rel="back">Cancel</a> </div> </div> </div> <script> $("#mainPage").on("pageshow", function(e) { $("#confirm").click(function() { doCustomDialog("A similar record already exists. Do you want to Update the existing record or Add a new record?", "Update", "Add", "Cancel", function( returned ) { //Do things depending on the button clicked, for now just display which button was clicked alert(returned); }); }); }); </script> </body> </html>

  • Slider with buttons. How to improve?

    - by Kalinin
    I need to make slider. I have content (which should shift horizontally) and two buttons - "right" and "left". If you press the button and hold it, the content starts to move (in the appropriate direction). If you not hold the button, then the movement stops. This behavior is copies the behavior of usual window scrollbar. I wrote code: var animateTime = 1, offsetStep = 5; //event handling for buttons "left", "right" $('.bttR, .bttL') .mousedown(function() { scrollContent.data('loop', true).loopingAnimation($(this)); }) .bind("mouseup mouseout", function(){ scrollContent.data('loop', false); }); $.fn.loopingAnimation = function(el){ if(this.data('loop') == true){ var leftOffsetStr; leftOffsetInt = parseInt(this.css('marginLeft').slice(0, -2)); if(el.attr('class') == 'bttR') leftOffsetStr = (leftOffsetInt - offsetStep).toString() + 'px'; else if(el.attr('class') == 'bttL') leftOffsetStr = (leftOffsetInt + offsetStep).toString() + 'px'; this.animate({marginLeft: leftOffsetStr}, animateTime, function(){ $(this).loopingAnimation(el); }) } return this; } But it does have a few things that I do not like: Always call the function animation (loopingAnimation) - I think that this is an extra load (not good). When moving content he "twitches and trembling" - (it's not pretty). How can I solve this problem more elegantly and without the drawbacks of my code?

  • Improve this snippet from a prototype class

    - by seengee
    This is a snippet from a prototype class i am putting together. The scoping workaround feels a little hacky to me, can it be improved or done differently? var myClass = Class.create({ initialize: function() { $('formid').getElements().each(function(el){ $(el).observe("blur", function(){ this.validateEl(el); }.bind(this,el)); },this); }, validateEl: function(el){ // validate $(el) in here... } }); Also, it seems to me that i could be doing something like this for the event observers: $('formid').getElements().invoke("observe","blur" ... Not sure how i would pass the element references in though?

  • How can I create a generic constructor? (ie. BaseClass.FromXml(<param>)

    - by SofaKng
    I'm not sure how to describe this but I'm trying to create a base class that contains a shared (factory) function called FromXml. I want this function to instantiate an object of the proper type and then fill it via an XmlDocument. For example, let's say I have something like this: Public Class XmlObject Public Shared Function FromXml(ByVal source as XmlDocument) As XmlObject // <need code to create SPECIFIC TYPE of object and return it End Function End Class Public Class CustomObject Inherits XmlObject End Class I'd like to be able to do something like this: Dim myObject As CustomObject = CustomObject.FromXml(source) Is this possible?

  • PHP: How do I rename a directory where the parent directory is variable?

    - by gsquare567
    i would like to move the files inside uploads/pension/#SOME_VARIABLE_NUMBER#/#SOME_CONSTANT_NUMBER#/ here is my code: // move pension statements // located at uploads/pension/%COMPANY_ID%/%USER_ID%/%HASH% // so just move the %USER_ID% folder to the new company $oldPensionDir = "uploads/pension/" . $demo_user[Users::companyID] . "/" . $demo_user[Users::userID] . "/"; $newPensionDir = "uploads/pension/" . $newCompanyID . "/" . $demo_user[Users::userID] . "/"; // see if the user had any files, and if so, move them if(file_exists($oldPensionDir)) { // if it doesnt exist, make it if(!file_exists($newPensionDir)) mkdir($newPensionDir); // move the folder rename($oldPensionDir, $newPensionDir); } however... when i need to make the directory with the "mkdir" function, i get: mkdir() [<a href='function.mkdir'>function.mkdir</a>]: No such file or directory ok, maybe the mkdir won't work, but what about the rename? perhaps that will make the directory if it's not there... nope! rename(uploads/pension/1001/783/,uploads/pension/1000/783/) [<a href='function.rename'>function.rename</a>]: The system cannot find the path specified. (code: 3) so, there are two errors. i'm pretty sure if the renaming works, i won't even need the mkdir, but who knows... can anyone tell me why these are errors and how to fix them? thanks!

  • Javascript Recursion

    - by rpophessagr
    I have an ajax call and would like to recall it once I finish parsing and animating the result into the page. And that's where I'm getting stuck. I was able to recall the function, but it seems to not take into account the delays in the animation. i.e. The console keeps outputting the values at a wild pace. I thought setInterval might help with the interval being the sum of the length of my delays, but I can't get that to work... function loadEm(){ var result=new Array(); $.getJSON("jsonCall.php",function(results){ $.each(results, function(i, res){ rand = (Math.floor(Math.random()*11)*1000)+2000; fullRand += rand; console.log(fullRand); $("tr:first").delay(rand).queue(function(next) { doStuff(res); next(); }); }); var int=self.setInterval("loadEm()",fullRand); }); } });

  • casting BSTR as char* in a dll; different results depnding on VB/C# caller.

    - by Toby Wilson
    I have a dll function that takes BSTR parameters. These are casted as char* before being used for other things. When the dll is called from VB code this works fine. However, when it is called from C# code, only the first character is pointed to. Both of these are excel addIns for Pre-2007 and 2007+ versions of Office, which call into a faster C++ AddIn. They actually call it directly, not through Excel. The VB function declaration looks like this: Private Declare Function Test Lib "ExcelAddIn.xll" (ByVal param As String) As String The C# function declaration looks like this: [DllImport("ExcelAddIn.xll", CharSet=CharSet.Ansi)] [return:MarshalAs(UnmanagedType.BStr)] private static extern string Test([MarshalAs(UnmanagedType.BStr)] string param); When debugging the dll and watching the input BSTR values, they appear to be correct from both; just the C# one only casts the first character. Charset=CharSet.Unicode makes no difference. Any ideas anyone?

  • Calling back a functions value

    - by Jason Kelly
    I need your help, I cannot, for the life of me, figure this out. I've had my head wrapped around it only to no avail. Ideally, i'd like to setup two functions. 1 function: select_date() to interact with the user to select a date from the jQuery Date picker. If the dialog is closed then return as null. Then a second function: test() to check wether or not a date was picked/selected.' Here's my delema, when the function test() is executed, an alert box pops up and says "undefined" which means, I never get to select a date and it always being "undefined" I dont see what I am doing wrong here and everything seems logical to me. <!DOCTYPE html> <html> <head> <link href="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jqueryui/1.8.21/themes/base/jquery-ui.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css"/> <script src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.7.2/jquery.js"></script> <script src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jqueryui/1.8.21/jquery-ui.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> function select_date() { var sdate $('#dd').dialog({ autoOpen: true, modal: true, overlay: { opacity: 0.5, background: 'black' }, title: "title", height: 265, width: 235, draggable: false, resizable: false }); $('#d1').datepicker({ onSelect: function () { $("#dd").dialog("close"); } }); return sdate } function test() { var x = select_date() alert(x) } </script> <style type="text/css"> #d1 {font-size:64%;} </style> </head> <body> <div id="dd"> <div id="d1"> </div> </div> <a href="javascript:test()">test</a> </body> </html>

  • Select list value undefined in $(document).ready

    - by C. Ross
    I have the following code, which I want to load values on a selection change, and also do the selection load initially (since FF 'saves' the last value of the drop down under certain circumstances). The select part of the function works correctly, but for some reason when calling load2 directly the value of $('#select1').value is undefined, even though when I check the DOM in Firebug right after load select1.value has a value. How can I run the load2 function when select1.value is ready? $(document).ready(function() { //Setup change hook $('#select1').change(function(event) { //Remove the old options right away $('#select2').find('option').remove(); //Load the new options load2(this.value); }); //Do load for current value load2($('#select1').value); });

  • jQuery UI Autocomplete and CodeIgniter

  • Problem with JQuery swapImage();

    - by VUELA
    Hello!~ On my articles page (http://www.adrtimes.squarespace.com/articles) I have each entry start with an image that changes on rollover. This is working fine. However, on my homepage (http://www.adrtimes.squarespace.com), I am loading in the 2 most recent articles that are not categorized as video, and the 2 most recent articles that are tagged as video. I am using jQuery load() to pull in the content from the articles page. Everything works ok with that except the swapImage rollovers on the homepage. i tried including the swapImage function as callbacks but only one group or the other will rollover properly, not both groups of content. I'm not sure what the problem is!! Here is the code: <script type="text/javascript"> <!-- $(function(){ $.swapImage(".swapImage"); /* Homepage */ // load recent articles $("#LoadRecentArticles").load("/articles/ .list-journal-entry-wrapper .journal-entry-wrapper:not(.category-video)", function(){ //callback... $("#LoadRecentArticles .journal-entry-wrapper").wrapAll('<div class="list-journal-entry-wrapper" />'); $("#LoadRecentArticles .journal-entry-wrapper:gt(1)").remove(); // modify Read More tag $('.journal-read-more-tag a:contains(Click to read more ...)').each(function(){ var str = $(this).html(); $(this).html(str.replace('Click to read more ...','Continue reading—')); }); $.swapImage(".swapImage"); }); // load recent videos $("#LoadRecentVideos").load("/articles/category/video .list-journal-entry-wrapper", function(){ //callback... $("#LoadRecentVideos .journal-entry-wrapper:gt(1)").remove(); $('<div class="VideoTag">—video</div>').insertBefore("#LoadRecentVideos .category-video .body img"); // modify Read More tag $('.journal-read-more-tag a:contains(Click to read more ...)').each(function(){ var str = $(this).html(); $(this).html(str.replace('Click to read more ...','Continue reading—')); }); $.swapImage(".swapImage"); }); }); --> </script> And here is a sample of the html for the images in an article entry: <a href="/articles/2010/5/6/article-title-goes-here.html"><img class="swapImage {src: '/storage/post-images/Sample2_color.jpg'}" src="/storage/post-images/Sample2_bw.jpg" /></a>

  • MMGR Questions, code use and thread-saftey

    - by chadb
    1) Is MMGR thread safe? 2) I was hoping someone could help me understand some code. I am looking at something where a macro is used, but I don't understand the macro. I know it contains a function call and an if check, however, the function is a void function. How does wrapping "(m_setOwner (FILE,_LINE_,FUNCTION),false)" ever change return types? #define someMacro (m_setOwner(__FILE__,__LINE__,__FUNCTION__),false) ? NULL : new ... void m_setOwner(const char *file, const unsigned int line, const char *func); 3) What is the point of the reservoir? 4) On line 770 ("void *operator new(size_t reportedSize)" there is the line "// ANSI says: allocation requests of 0 bytes will still return a valid value" Who/what is ANSI in this context? Do they mean the standards? 5) This is more of C++ standards, but where does "reportedSize" come from for "void *operator new(size_t reportedSize)"? 6) Is this the code that is actually doing the allocation needed? "au-actualAddress = malloc(au-actualSize);"

  • Dynamic obfuscation by self-modifying code

    - by Fallout2
    Hi all, Here what's i am trying to do: assume you have two fonction void f1(int *v) { *v = 55; } void f2(int *v) { *v = 44; } char *template; template = allocExecutablePages(...); char *allocExecutablePages (int pages) { template = (char *) valloc (getpagesize () * pages); if (mprotect (template, getpagesize (), PROT_READ|PROT_EXEC|PROT_WRITE) == -1) { perror (“mprotect”); } } I would like to do a comparison between f1 and f2 (so tell what is identical and what is not) (so get the assembly lines of those function and make a line by line comparison) And then put those line in my template. Is there a way in C to do that? THanks Update Thank's for all you answers guys but maybe i haven't explained my need correctly. basically I'm trying to write a little obfuscation method. The idea consists in letting two or more functions share the same location in memory. A region of memory (which we will call a template) is set up containing some of the machine code bytes from the functions, more specifically, the ones they all have in common. Before a particular function is executed, an edit script is used to patch the template with the necessary machine code bytes to create a complete version of that function. When another function assigned to the same template is about to be executed, the process repeats, this time with a different edit script. To illustrate this, suppose you want to obfuscate a program that contains two functions f1 and f2. The first one (f1) has the following machine code bytes Address Machine code 0 10 1 5 2 6 3 20 and the second one (f2) has Address Machine code 0 10 1 9 2 3 3 20 At obfuscation time, one will replace f1 and f2 by the template Address Machine code 0 10 1 ? 2 ? 3 20 and by the two edit scripts e1 = {1 becomes 5, 2 becomes 6} and e2 = {1 becomes 9, 2 becomes 3}. #include <stdlib.h> #include <string.h> typedef unsigned int uint32; typedef char * addr_t; typedef struct { uint32 offset; char value; } EDIT; EDIT script1[200], script2[200]; char *template; int template_len, script_len = 0; typedef void(*FUN)(int *); int val, state = 0; void f1_stub () { if (state != 1) { patch (script1, script_len, template); state = 1; } ((FUN)template)(&val); } void f2_stub () { if (state != 2) { patch (script2, script_len, template); state = 2; } ((FUN)template)(&val); } int new_main (int argc, char **argv) { f1_stub (); f2_stub (); return 0; } void f1 (int *v) { *v = 99; } void f2 (int *v) { *v = 42; } int main (int argc, char **argv) { int f1SIZE, f2SIZE; /* makeCodeWritable (...); */ /* template = allocExecutablePages(...); */ /* Computed at obfuscation time */ diff ((addr_t)f1, f1SIZE, (addr_t)f2, f2SIZE, script1, script2, &script_len, template, &template_len); /* We hide the proper code */ memset (f1, 0, f1SIZE); memset (f2, 0, f2SIZE); return new_main (argc, argv); } So i need now to write the diff function. that will take the addresses of my two function and that will generate a template with the associated script. So that is why i would like to compare bytes by bytes my two function Sorry for my first post who was not very understandable! Thank you

  • How to determine loading status of images not attached to the DOM

    - by Rookwood
    I am working on a bit of javascript to plot data on a <canvas. The data points are marked by one of several different (small) image files. I am attempting to have the plot method wait until all the images are loaded. My best attempt thus far is such: var icon = { left : { air : new Image(), bone : new Image(), }, right : { air: new Image(), bone : new Image(), }, }; icon.left.air.src = option.imgPath + 'left.air.png'; icon.right.air.src = option.imgPath + 'right.air.png'; icon.left.bone.src = option.imgPath + 'left.bone.png'; icon.right.bone.src = option.imgPath + 'right.bone.png'; function main() { Canvas.draw(); // Make sure our image icons are loaded before we try to plot $(icon.left.air).load(function() { $(icon.right.air).load(function() { $(icon.left.bone).load(function() { $(icon.right.bone).load(function() { Data.plot(); }); }); }); }); } This works as expected most of the time. On occasion, it will fail and no data will be plotted. Inserting several console.log() statements shows that the script will silently stop working through the series of .load() statements, though code that comes after will be executed. My questions are as follows: Am I approaching this the right way? Is there a way to attach an event to my icon object that will fire once all of the images inside are loaded? This is a jquery plugin, so obviously jquery-based solutions are just as acceptable as vanilla javascript.

  • javascript watching for variable change via a timer

    - by DA
    I have a slide show where every 10 seconds the next image loads. Once an image loads, it waits 10 seconds (setTimeout) and then calls a function which fades it out, then calls the function again to fade in the next image. It repeats indefinitely. This works. However, at times, I'm going to want to over-ride this "function1 call - pause - function2 call - function1 call" loop outside of this function (for instance, I may click on a slide # and want to jump directly to that slide and cancel the current pause). One solution seems to be to set up a variable, allow other events to change that variable and then in my original function chain, check for any changes before continuing the loop. I have this set up: var ping = 500; var pausetime = 10000; for(i=0; i<=pausetime; i=i+ping){ setTimeout(function(){ console.log(gocheckthevariable()); console.log(i); pseudoIf('the variable is true AND the timer is done then...do the next thing') },i) } The idea is that I'd like to pause for 10 seconds. During this pause, every half second I'll check to see if this should be stopped. The above will write out to the console the following every half second: true 10000 true 10000 true 10000 etc... But what I want/need is this: true 0 true 500 true 1000 etc... The basic problem is that the for loop executes before each of the set timeouts. While I can check the value of the variable every half second, I can't match that against the current loop index. I'm sure this is a common issue, but I'm at a loss what I should actually be searching for.

  • Durandal Google Maps not showing properly

    - by user1891037
    Trying to show Google Maps using the Durandal. I'm now simply working with Durandal HTML Starter Kit so the other modules and all engine works properly. The thing is when I added the Google Map it doesn't fit the div size (the big part of div is just grey). As I understand, the problem is causing because Google Maps added before page is completely loaded. But I can't figure out how can I hook on page load event. Here is the module code: define(['knockout', 'gmaps'], function (ko, gmaps) { return { displayName: 'Google Maps', myMap: ko.observable({ lat: ko.observable(32), lng: ko.observable(10)}), activate: function () { console.log('activate'); ko.bindingHandlers.map = { init: function (element, valueAccessor, allBindingsAccessor, viewModel) { console.log('init'); var mapObj = ko.utils.unwrapObservable(valueAccessor()); var latLng = new gmaps.LatLng( ko.utils.unwrapObservable(mapObj.lat), ko.utils.unwrapObservable(mapObj.lng)); var mapOptions = { center: latLng, zoom: 5, mapTypeId: gmaps.MapTypeId.ROADMAP}; mapObj.googleMap = new gmaps.Map(element, mapOptions); } } }, attached: function() { console.log('attached'); }, compositionComplete: function() { console.log('compositionComplete'); } }; }); And a very simple HTML code: <section> <div id="gmap-canvas" data-bind="map:myMap"></div> </section> I'm loading Google Maps with async plug-in in my shell.js. It works fine. Screenshot with trouble here - http://clip2net.com/s/ibswAa P.S. div size is defined in .CSS file. P.S. I tried to use getElementById approach provided here and it's work great if placed in compositionComplete block. But when I tried to move my bindings to this block nothing happens at all. Thanks!

  • Adding the text area input to a list with jquery

    - by amylynn83
    I am making a shopping list app. When an item is added to the text input, it should be converted into a list item with a class of "tile" and added to the beginning of the list with a class of ".shopping_item_list". Here is my HTML: <section> <h1 class="outline">Shopping List Items</h1> <ul class="shopping_item_list"> <li class="tile">Flowers<span class="delete">Delete</span></li> </ul> </section> My jQuery: $("input[name='shopping_item']").change(function() { var item = $(this).val(); $("<li class='tile'>+ item +</li>").prependTo(".shopping_item_list"); $(".tile").removeClass("middle"); $(".shopping_item_list li:nth-child(3n+2)").addClass("middle"); }); This isn't working, and I can't figure out why. I'm new to jQuery. Also, I need to add the "delete" span to the list item and am not sure how. Thanks for any help you can offer! Edited to add: Thanks to the feedback here, I was able to make it work with: $("input[name='shopping_item']").change(function() { var item = $(this).val(); $("<li class='tile'>" + item + "<span class='delete'>Delete</span>" + " </li>").prependTo(".shopping_item_list"); $(".tile").removeClass("middle"); $(".shopping_item_list li:nth-child(3n+2)").addClass("middle"); }); However, in my jquery, I have functions for the classes "tile" and "delete" that are not working for newly added items. // hide delete button $(".delete").hide(); // delete square $(".tile").hover(function() { $(this).find(".delete").toggle(); }); $(".tile").on("click", ".delete", function() { $(this).closest("li.tile").remove(); $(".tile").removeClass("middle"); $(".shopping_item_list li:nth-child(3n+2)").addClass("middle"); }); // cross off list $(".tile").click(function() { $(this).toggleClass("deleteAction"); }); The new items, which have these classes applied aren't using these functions at all. Do I need to add the functions below the add item? Does the order in which they appear in my js file matter? Do I need to add some kind of function?

  • Why use a do-end block in Lua?

    - by Mayron
    I keep trying to find answers for this but fail to do so. I wanted to know, what is the do-end block actually used for? It just says values are used when needed in my book so how could I use this? Do I use it to reduce the scope of local variables by placing a function in a do-end loop and place local variables outside of the function but inside this do-end block and the variables will be seen by the function? But then can the function still be called? Sorry for being very vague. I hope that makes sense. Maybe an illustrated example might be useful ^^

  • HeadJS ready for both document and script

    - by Yashua
    Current code: head.ready(function() { console.log($('.thing a').val()); }); It will sometimes fail with error that $ is not ready. I have loaded jquuery earlier with the label 'jquery'. Neither of these work: head.ready(document, function() { console.log($('.thing a').val()); }); head.ready('jquery', function() { console.log($('.thing a').val()); }); I would like to not do this if possible: head.ready(document, function() { head.ready('jquery', function() { console.log($('.thing a').val()); }); }); And also avoid refactoring current code to place that snippet at bottom of body though that I think may be the solution. Is it possible with HeadJS to define a ready call() using head.ready(), that is not placed at the bottom, that will wait for both a labeled script and the DOM to be loaded? UPDATE: the nested script doesn't actually work. I think the inner one erases/superseds the other :(
