Hi, I`m looking for best mechanism for self update in .net programs!
solution should cover this subject:
1) Server - Client Program
2) When new update released, after installing that on the sever-program, all client-program must update itself base on server version.(no need automatic-update for server)
3) Full-Update : for example if server on version 3 and last update package version is 5, update package must contain any older package.
I have a requirment to do some imports from an Excel spread sheet and have been looking at various examples on the web, they all seem to use the "Jet" driver which is not compatible with 64Bit. Now I am fully aware of the workarounds available (in changing how IIS runs etc) however I would like to know if there is repalcment for the "Jet" driver so I can read and generate excel sheets from Asp.Net running on a 64Bit server with no IIS modifications.
Is there a simple way to load test an asp.net application? I've been reading on some microsoft pattern and practices documents that tell you to use ACT which seems kind of hard to use for complex requests.
OK, I guess I'm missing something obvious here, but I still can't make it work...
I have a page in ASP.NET.

How can I access the page's viewstate from the property's Set statement?
Thanks!
Is there a standard way to create unique web page address in ASP.NET? I'm sending surveys to customers and will be including a link to the web page. For example:
http://www.mysurveypages.foo/survey/UniqueID
I would then customize the survey based on who I sent it to. I know it can be done by passing in a unique parameter to a page but I curious about doing it this way.

I've seen this done before in MVC where the collection is made avaliable to the view and you can just do a foreach etc etc but I don't know how to do it on a normal asp.net page...
Any help appreciated, cheers!
IEnumerable<Department> myQuery = (from D in myContext.Departments orderby D.DeptName select D);
var myQuery = (from D in myContext.Departments orderby D.DeptName select D);
What is the difference between these two statements above? In my little asp.net/C#/ EF4.0 app I can write them either way, and as far as how I want to use them, they both work, but there has to be a reason why I would choose one over the other?
The option to target another version of the .Net Framework is disabled on a particular test system we are using on a current project.
I have tried the following without success:
Killing all W3WP.EXE processesRestarting the IIS serviceRemote Debugging has been removed from the box.
Just hoping for some pointers.
I am writing a help page with sections - What I want to do is allow navigation to a particular section (depending on what page they clicked help from) rather always landing at the top of the page.

I have no idea how to begin with this? What can i use to create a floor layout and then highlight the required path. Any pointers ? Thanks.
I need to create a vb.net program that consists of a unmovable, always on top bitmap, with no menu bar or anything, and does not show up in the task bar as program.
It needs to always start in the same place.
Essentially I need to mask a part of the screen by using a bitmap that blends into the scenery.
I am not sure which properties I need to tweak to achieve all of this.
I'd like the user to specify a RSS feed address and serialize the information from it. I am not interested in the XML format, but populate a strongly typed object from the XML. My question is, is there a standard that all RSS feeds support (Do all of them have date, title etc)? If so, is there a XSD that describes this. If not, how do I handle serializing a RSS feed to an object in ASP.NET?
Is there any solution available for generating UML diagrams (or at least XMI files) in C#.NET?
Bear in mind that I don't want to reverse engineer my code but automate UML diagrams generation (different kind of them, mostly component diagrams).
My asp.net 4 website url format is http://www.somesite.com/ShowProduct.aspx?ID=3330
but it sometimes gets changed to
http://www.somesite.com/(S(ghtef0vy5fgfdjgdfgderd55)X(1))/ShowProduct.aspx?ID=3330
or
http://www.somesite.com/ShowProduct.aspx?ID=3330&AspxAutoDetectCookieSupport=3330
How can i prevent this. I want all url's to be of this format only
