  Hey, I want to write a program that outputs a list of libraries that I should link to given source code (or object) files (for C or C++ programs). In *nix, there are useful tools such as sdl-config and llvm-config. But, I want my program to work on Windows, too. Usage: get-library-names -l /path/to/lib a.cpp b.cpp c.cpp d.obj Then, get-library-names would get a list of function names that are invoked from a.cpp, b.cpp, c.cpp, and d.obj. And, it'll search all library files in /path/to/lib directory and list libraries that are needed to link properly. Is there such tool already written? Is it not trivial to write a such tool? How do you find what libraries you should link to? Thanks.

  I have a large directory tree of files, and am using the following script to list and replace a searched-for name with a specific file. Problem is, I don't know how to write the createList() for-loop correctly to account for whitespace in a directory name. If all directories don't have spaces, it works fine.   I keep getting an uncaught syntex error which I know usually means your code has a missing closing something. I keep failing to see what it is that I am missing. The idea of the function is that it extracts the a links ID and Text content and add's it to an un-ordered list. The links have a class of 'ingredient_add' and the unordered list has an ID of 'ingredientsAdded'.   Im using c#.net windows form application. I have an xml file that contains nodes. I need to populate a treeview with the nodes present in the xml file. Also avoid repeated node names. For this my idea is while populating the treeview, copy the node names into a list and there see if the node already exits. If it already exits, go to the next node else display it.   My IM stores the logs according to the contact name. I have created a file with the list of active contacts. My problem is following: I would like to create a bash script with read the active contacts names from the file and compare it with the directories. If the directory name wouldn't be found on the list, it would be moved to another directory (let's call it "archive").   An excel document with several pivot and lookup tables that previously worked under office xp and 2003 stopped working after an upgrade to office 2007 (linked stuff doesn't update). I originally assumed there's something disabled in 2007 that I need to turn back on, but after having opened it in excel 2007 it no longer works in previous versions either. Any idea what I'm missing/what excel 2007 did?

  Hi, I have a sortable list. When a new item is dropped into the list (from a draggable), I'd like to get access to it to perform some operations on it. This is what I have: $("#mySortableList").sortable({ receive: function(event, ui) { alert("this is the dropped item: " + ui.item.toString()); } }).disableSelection(); so "ui.item" is the element that was dropped, but it's not the duplicated item that will now be part of my list. So I have a list of interests, a list of users, and a list of user interests. I want the query to return all interests, whether the user has the interest or not (should be null in that case), only where the user = x. Every time I get the query working its only matching interests that the user specifically has, instead of all interests whether they have it or not.

  I have a custom Order class, groups of which are stored in List<Order> and a DataGridView. I thought the DataGrid would be updated automatically after this since Orders has changed - is there something I'm missing? The DataGrid accepts the class since it generates columns from the members.

• In Python, is there a way to call a method on every item of an iterable? [closed]

  Possible Duplicate: Is there a map without result in python? I often come to a situation in my programs when I want to quickly/efficiently call an in-place method on each of the items contained by an iterable. (Quickly meaning the overhead of a for loop is unacceptable). A good example would be a list of sprites when I want to call draw() on each of the Sprite objects. I know I can do something like this: [sprite.draw() for sprite in sprite_list] But I feel like the list comprehension is misused since I'm not using the returned list. The same goes for the map function. Stone me for premature optimization, but I also don't want the overhead of the return value. What I want to know is if there's a method in Python that lets me do what I just explained, perhaps like the hypothetical function I suggest below: do_all(sprite_list, draw)

  Hi folks, I have a function, that returns the next higher value of a Dictionary-Keys-List compared to a given value. If we have a Key-List of {1, 4, 10, 24} and a given value of 8, the function would return 10. Obviously the type of the Value-Part of the Dictionary doesn't matter for the function, the function-code for a Dictionary<int, int> and Dictionary<int, myClass> would be the same. How has the method-head have to look like, when I want to call the function with any Dictionary, that has int as key-Type and the value-Type is irrelevant? I tried: private int GetClosedKey(Dictionary<int, object> list, int theValue); but it says that there are illegal arguments, when I call it with a Dictionary. I don't want to copy'n'paste the function for each different value-type that my function may be called. Any idea, how to accomplish that? Thanks in advance, Frank

• Fastest method in merging of the two: dicts vs lists

  I'm doing some indexing and memory is sufficient but CPU isn't. So I have one huge dictionary and then a smaller dictionary I'm merging into the bigger one: big_dict = {"the" : {"1" : 1, "2" : 1, "3" : 1, "4" : 1, "5" : 1}} smaller_dict = {"the" : {"6" : 1, "7" : 1}} #after merging resulting_dict = {"the" : {"1" : 1, "2" : 1, "3" : 1, "4" : 1, "5" : 1, "6" : 1, "7" : 1}} My question is for the values in both dicts, should I use a dict (as displayed above) or list (as displayed below) when my priority is to use as much memory as possible to gain the most out of my CPU? For clarification, using a list would look like: big_dict = {"the" : [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]} smaller_dict = {"the" : [6,7]} #after merging resulting_dict = {"the" : [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7]} Side note: The reason I'm using a dict nested into a dict rather than a set nested in a dict is because JSON won't let me do json.dumps because a set isn't key/value pairs, it's (as far as the JSON library is concerned) {"a", "series", "of", "keys"} Also, after choosing between using dict to a list, how would I go about implementing the most efficient, in terms of CPU, method of merging them?   So I was asked to make a Binary Tree in Haskell taking as input a list of Integers. Below is my code. My problem is that the last element of the list is not getting inserted in the Tree.   I would like to use the IEnumerable function Intersect() to combine a few list and get the similar integers from each list. The problem I'm faced with is that I don't know how many list I will need to compare. Here is an example: A{1,2,3,4} B{1,2,3} C{1,2} results = A.Intersect(B).Intersect(C) This works great, but the next time around I may have a D{1,2} next time I come across the function. I'd like to use the Intersect method, but I'm open to new ideas as well.

  Hi, I've tried to rebuild my search index but it does not seem to help. When i search for anything even command I either get an empty list or a list of short cuts with the names Programs Documents Files ... They all have the default white paper icon. If I click on them I get an error message that says Internet security settings prevented one or more files from being opened. Any ideas? thanks
