    As far as my research goes, there are several steps in order to make sure that browser caching is disabled. These HTTP headers must be set: Cache-Control: no-cache, no-store, must-revalidate, proxy-revalidate Pragma: no-cache, no-store Expires: -1 Last-Modified: -1 I have found out that this can be done in two ways: Way One: use the web.config file <add name="Cache-Control" value="no-store, no-cache, must-revalidate, proxy-revalidate"/> <add name="Pragma" value="no-cache, no-store" /> <add name="Expires" value="-1" /> <add name="Last-Modified" value="-1" /> Way Two: use the meta tags in _Layout.cshtml <meta http-equiv="Cache-Control" content="no-cache, no-store, must-revalidate, proxy-revalidate" /> <meta http-equiv="Pragma" content="no-cache, no-store" /> <meta http-equiv="Expires" content="-1" /> <meta http-equiv="Expires" content="-1" /> My Question: which is the better approach?   • Z-index bug with IE6.. can't seem to figure this one out

    I am working on this gorgeous header here at : http://kayaskitchenbelmar.com/test/header.html Unfortunately, in IE6, the drop downs that come off of the Print and View buttons collapse on to a new line. This is because of the common z-index bug. I tried resolving this by making the parent div have a higher z-index and position relative with its child a lower z-index and position absolute, but that didn't seem to work. Possibly I'm missing something obvious? Thanks so much

  • Django: HTTPS for just login page?

    I just added this SSL middleware to my site http://www.djangosnippets.org/snippets/85/ which I used to secure only my login page so that passwords aren't sent in clear-text. Of course, when the user navigates away from that page he's suddenly logged out. I understand why this happens, but is there a way to pass the cookie over to HTTP so that users can stay logged in? If not, is there an easy way I can use HTTPS for the login page (and maybe the registration page), and then have it stay on HTTPS if the user is logged in, but switch back to HTTP if the user doesn't log in? There are a lot of pages that are visible to both logged in users and not, so I can't just designate certain pages as HTTP or HTTPS.

  • Need new method for linking to native mapping from mobile web app

    My mobile web apps use a map button which automatically starts the mapping features of Android and iPhone by simply linking to http://maps.google.com/maps?q=New+York. iOs 6 comes out, the links stop working, because Apple wants us to use "maps.APPLE.com". Turns out ANYTHING you send to "maps.apple.com" gets forwarded to "maps.google.com". So now I have to specially detect iOs 6 and swap out links just so Apple can forward everything back to Google anyway. Is there a clean way to open the device/native mapping app from a mobile web app that works on Android, iOs 6, and iOs pre-6, since iOs 6 nerfed it?   • Apache's AuthDigestDomain and Rails Distributed Asset Hosts

    I've got a server I'm in the process of setting up and I'm running into an Apache configuration problem that I can not get around. I've got Apache 2.2 and Passenger serving a Rails app with distributed asset hosting. This is the feature of Rails that lets you serve your static assets from assets0.example.com, assets1, assets2, and so on. The site needs to be passworded until launch. I've set up HTTP authentication on the site using Apache's mod_auth_digest. In my configuration I'm attempting to use the AuthDigestDomain directive to allow access to each of the asset URLs. The problem is, it doesn't seem to be working. I get the initial prompt for the password when I load the page, but then the first time it loads an asset from one of the asset URLs, I get prompted a 2nd, 3rd, or 4th time. In some browsers, I get prompted for every single resource on the page. I'm hoping that this is only a problem of how I'm specifying my directives and not a limitation of authorization in Apache itself.     Hi Folks, I am successful to map an external directory by creating an xml file like : <Context path="/uploads" docBase="C:\uploads\photos" crossContext="true"/> And I named this xml file as uploads.xml and saved under "#Tomcat\conf\Catalina\localhost" here # = Directory where Tomcat has been installed. And when I start Tomcat(5) from cammand line (batch file) i.e. startup.bat The images can be accessed normally like "http://localhost:8080/uploads/user1.png" It works. Actually I am using IntelliJ Idea 8 for devevelopment. When I start Tomcat from IntelliJ Idea, I am not able to access the context i.e. the images. "http://localhost:8080/uploads/user1.png" It shows "HTTP 400 Bad Request" The context path for my project is "http://localhost:8080/spark/" Any help or suggestion is needed at the earliest time. People post ads and then other people reply to them, which sends an email to the original creator of the ad telling them that someone is interested and giving them contact information for that interested person. Lately there's been some weird spam. People are receiving nonsense replies to their ads. Here is an example of one: Name: xkauwvyr Reply: vRYmbI <a href="http://rypmoxdkfblf.com/">rypmoxdkfblf</a>, url=http://pnjlwvhizwbq.com/]pnjlwvhizwbq[/url], [link=http://hmenwoujxrfv.com/]hmenwoujxrfv[/link], http://ogsekuhoyeud.com/ They vary in length and composition but they all look roughly like that. The first idea I had was to simply throw out any reply that contained the string " Also, is this spam just some ass playing a trick on my website, or is it something more malicious?

    When I do an XMLHttpRequest, I always get redirected automatically to the URL (presumably by the headers of the response). For example, if I query "http://www.stackoverflow.com" I will be redirected to "http://stackoverflow.com". How can I get that final URL? (http://stackoverflow.com/ in the example) I checked in the response headers but I cannot seem to find it. (I just used the GET/POST method not HEAD).
