  Assuming these objects... class MyClass { int ID {get;set;} string Name {get;set;} List<MyOtherClass> Things {get;set;} } class MyOtherClass { int ID {get;set;} string Value {get;set;} } How do I perform a LINQ to Entities Query, using a projection like below, that will give me a List?   It's clear that a search performance of the generic HashSet<T> class is higher than of the generic List<T> class. Just compare the hash-based key with the linear approach in the List<T> class. However calculating a hash key may itself take some CPU cycles, so for a small amount of items the linear search can be a real alternative to the HashSet<T>. My question: where is the break-even? To simplify the scenario (and to be fair) let's assume that the List<T> class uses the element's Equals() method to identify an item.

  An alternative title might be: Check for existence of multiple rows? Using a combination of SQL and C# I want a method to return true if all products in a list exist in a table. If it can be done in all in SQL that would be preferable. I have written a method that returns whether a single productID exists using the following SQL: SELECT productID FROM Products WHERE ProductID = @productID If this returns a row, then the c# method returns true, false otherwise. Now I'm wondering if I have a list of product IDs (not a huge list mind you, normally under 20). How can I write a query that will return a row if all the product id's exist and no row if one or more product id's does not exist? (Maybe something involving "IN" like: SELECT * FROM Products WHERE ProductID IN (1, 10, 100))

• LazyInitializationException when adding to a list that is held within a entity class using hibernate

  Right so i am working with hibernate gilead and gwt to persist my data on users and files of a website. my users have a list of file locations. i am using annotations to map my classes to the database. i am getting a org.hibernate.LazyInitializationException when i try to add file locations to the list that is held in the user class. this is a method below that is overridden from a external file upload servlet class that i am using. when the file uploads it calls this method. the user1 is loaded from the database elsewhere. the exception occurs at user1.getFileLocations().add(fileLocation);   Given a simple class: public class Person { public string FirstName; public string LastName; public string GetFullName() { return FirstName + LastName; } } The user of this class will populate a List<Person> object by reading an Xml file or some other data source. Should the logic for populating the List be in the Person class or should it just remain in the calling class? In other words, should there be a public List<Persons> GetPersons() method in the Person class or in the calling class? Or should the data accessor be in another class altogether? I know this is a rather simplistic question but I'm just curious how others typically do it.

  Isn't it possible to treat functions in Scheme as any other list? Basically, what I want do to is something like this: (define (foo) "hello") (cdr foo) ; or similar, should return the list ((foo) "hello") I've found a similar discussion about this, and I feel a bit disappointed if this is not possible with Scheme. If so, why is this impossible? Is it possible in other lisps? EDIT: Changed (cdr 'foo) to (cdr foo) -- it was misleading. I'm asking, why can't I access a function as a list?

So I want to obtain by hibernate criteria list of ClassA objects which have inside ClassC objects with specified name. Problem is that access to ClassC objects is through ClassB list. I tried something like this but it does not work: crit.createCriteria("bbb").createCriteria("ccc").add(Restrictions.ilike("name", name, MatchMode.ANYWHERE)); I will be grateful for help.

  I have to implement a one linked list but it should put object in appropriate position. Everything was OK when I use it in conjunction with specific class, but when I tried make it universal and argument of method insert was Object some problem appeared. When I want to input Object in right position I should use CompareTo method, but there isn't method in Object class! The problem is how to compare two object elements without known about their real types. Maybe I should use generic class type? But what about CompareTo? Or maybe combine with Element class and place CompareTo there? I need to loop those content types and do some actions in each list, but opening new SPWeb instance every loop is too resource intensive. Is there built-in method to tell me if this URL belongs to certain SPWeb object? Example: SPWeb's may be http://server/web1 http://server/web2 http://server/web2/subweb1 http://server/web2/subweb2 With content type usage links like: /web2/Pages /web2/Lists/Tasks /web2/Lists/Documents /web2/subweb1/Lists/Tasks ... As you can see, for first 3 usages i don't need to open up new SPWeb

I need to pull a list of supplies from a db table and list them along with two textboxes (one for quantity, and another for manufacturer) so the list would look something like this. checkbox for supply 1 | Quantity | Manufacturer checkbox for supply 2 | Quantity | Manufacturer .. I also need to store all of the checked items in a db table. I'm not sure how i should go about doing this. • DataModelSelection on list exposed via EntityQuery

  Is it possible to have support for enabling DataModelSelection on a list page paginated via EntityQuery? (All the examples load the list by performing a query on the @Factory method). But, I would like to re-use the existing pagination mechanism and just enable the ability to support DataModelSelection on it. I am also assuming that DataModelSelection is capable of tracking a single row in a List, how do we extend this to support a certain action (say deletion, activation ...) of multiple rows. I am a newbie and would appreciate any help on this topic. I have already gone through the samples shipped as part of Seam (booking, message). I have already posted this in seam users forum, but I am yet to get a response

I am trying to convert to from an item array to the list using the following piece of code: Item variationsFolder = masterDB.SelectSingleItem(VariationsFolderID.ToString()); List<Item> variationList = variationsFolder.GetChildren().ToList<Item>(); However I keep getting this error whenever I try to build: 'Sitecore.Collections.ChildList' does not contain a definition for 'ToList' and the best extension method overload 'System.Linq.Enumerable.ToList<TSource>(System.Collections.Generic.IEnumerable<TSource>)' has some invalid arguments I have the following usings: using System.Linq; using System.Xml.Linq; Am referencing: System.Core I've just copied this code from another location, so it should work fine, can only think that there is something simple (like a reference or something that I am missing).

  Hi all, I have have several ULs vertically down a page. They are setup using jQueryUI's sortable(). My live example is: http://jsfiddle.net/pborreli/pJgyu/ I can drag from answers to make it the final element in questions. But when I drag from questions to answers the placeholder jumps to the second item in the questions list. At that point I can then drag it to the top. Any ideas why I am having this issue dragging from a list above to the first element of a list below? I've tried editing the padding and margin on both the lists and the sortable items. • Oracle sample data problems

  So, I have this java based data trasformation / masking tool, which I wanted to test out on Oracle 10g. The good part with Oracle 10g is that you get a load of sample schemas with half a million records in some. The schemas are : SH, OE, HR, IX and etc. So, I installed 10g, found out that the installation scripts are under ORACLE_HOME/demo/scripts. I customized these scripts a bit to run in batch mode. That solves one half of my requirement - to create source data for my testing my data transformation software. The second half of the requirement is that I create the same schemas under different names (TR_HR, TR_OE and so on...) without any data. These schemas would represent my target schemas. So, in short, my software would pick up data from a table in a schema and load it up in to the same table in a different schema. Now, I have two issues in creating my target schema and emptying it. I would like this in a batch job. But the oracle scripts you get, the sample schema names are not configurable. So, I tried creating a script, replacing OE with TR_OE, HR with TR_HR and so on. However, this approach is kind of irritating coz the sample schemas are kind of complicated in the way they are created; Oracle creates synonyms, views, materialized views, data types and lot of weird stuff. I would like the target schemas (TR_HR, TR_OE,...) to be empty. But some of the schemas have circular references, which would not allow me to delete data. The only work around seems to be removing certain foreign keys, deleting data and then adding the constraints back. Is there any easy way to all this, without all this fuss? I would need a complicated data set for my testing (complicated as in tables with triggers, multiple hierarchies.. for instance.. a child table that has children up to 5 levels, a parent table that refers to an IOT table and an IOT table that refers to a non-IOT table etc..). The sample schemas are just about perfect from a data set perspective. The only challenge I see is in automating this whole process of loading up the source schemas, and then creating the target schemas and emptying them. Appreciate your help and suggestions.

  My models: class Order(models.Model): ordered_by = models.ForeignKey(User) reasons = models.ManyToManyField(Reason) class Reason(models.Model): description = models.CharField() Basically a user creates an order and gives reasons for that order. ie, john has two orders (one for pencils because he is out AND because he doesn't like his current stock. a second order for pens because he is out). I want to print a list out of all reasons a user has placed his orders. So under john, it should print "he is out", "he doesn't like his current stock"; those two lines only. If I simply select all of john's orders, iterate through them and print out their "reasons" it'll print "he is out", "he doesn't like his current stock" and then "he is out" again. I don't want these duplicate values. How do I select a list of his reasons for ALL his orders so that the list has all unique rows?

  Hi all, I juststarted programming in android a few weeks ago, so I am not entirely sure how to deal with listing values. Please help me out! I have some questions regarding displaying data sets from db in a list. Currently I have a cursor returned by my db points to a list of rows and I want display 2 columns values in a single row of the list. The row xml looks like this: <TextView android:id="@+id/text1" android:textSize="16sp" android:textStyle="bold" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content"/> <TextView android:id="@+id/text2" android:textSize="14sp" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content"/> so I was thinking using simplecursoradapter which supposedly makes my life easier by displaying the data in a list. However that is only true if I want to display the raw data. For the purpose of my program I need to do some computations on the raw data sets, then display them. I am not sure how to do that using SimpleCursorAdapter. Here's how I display the raw data: String[] from = new String[]{BtDbAdapter.KEY_EX_TYPE,BtDbAdapter.KEY_EX_TIMESTAMP}; int[] to = new int[]{R.id.text1, R.id.text2}; // Now create a simple cursor adapter and set it to display SimpleCursorAdapter records = new SimpleCursorAdapter(this, R.layout.exset_row, mExsetCursor, from, to); setListAdapter(records); Is there a way to do computation on the data in those rows before I bind it with the SimpleCursorAdapter? I was trying to use an alternative way of doing this by using arraylist and arrayadapter, but that way I dont know to how achieve displaying 2 items in a single row. I was trying to use R.id.text1 and R.id.text2 for them, but it gave me some errors saying 04-23 01:40:58.658: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(3309): android.content.res.Resources$NotFoundException: Resource ID #0x7f070008 type #0x12 is not valid I believe the second method can achieve this, but I'm not sure how do deal with the layout problems, so if you any suggestions, please post them out.
