• does log4net AdoNetAppender support sql server 2008?

- by schrodinger's code
my config file below: very strange, i have spent a day to find out where i am wrong, but still not working, it still not log anything in the database, but i can output them using RollingFileAppender. Also, the store procedure WriteLog is working well.(I have tested it using sql server studio). I have tried to change the connectionType but not working. Unfortunately I dont have sql server 2000/2005 to test, my log4net version should be the latest one: log4net 1.2.10. Any help is appreciated. <configuration> <configSections>
</configSections> <log4net> <appender name="AdoNetAppender_SqlServer" type="log4net.Appender.AdoNetAppender"> <bufferSize value="1" /> <connectionType value="System.Data.SqlClient.SqlConnection, System.Data, System.Data, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089" /> <connectionString value="Data Source=.\MSSQLSERVER2008,2222;Initial Catalog=UnleashedSaaS;User ID=sa;Password=dogblack;" /> <commandType value="StoredProcedure" /> <commandText value="WriteLog" /> <parameter> <parameterName value="@log_date" /> <dbType value="DateTime" /> <layout type="log4net.Layout.PatternLayout" value="%date{yyyy'-'MM'-'dd HH':'mm':'ss'.'fff}" /> </parameter> <parameter> <parameterName value="@thread" /> <dbType value="String" /> <size value="255" /> <layout type="log4net.Layout.PatternLayout" value="%thread" /> </parameter> <parameter> <parameterName value="@log_level" /> <dbType value="String" /> <size value="50" /> <layout type="log4net.Layout.PatternLayout" value="%level" /> </parameter> <parameter> <parameterName value="@logger" /> <dbType value="String" /> <size value="255" /> <layout type="log4net.Layout.PatternLayout" value="%logger" /> </parameter> <parameter> <parameterName value="@message" /> <dbType value="String" /> <size value="4000" /> <layout type="log4net.Layout.PatternLayout" value="%message" /> </parameter> <parameter> <parameterName value="@exception" /> <dbType value="String" /> <size value="4000" /> <layout type="log4net.Layout.ExceptionLayout" /> </parameter> </appender> <appender name="RollingLogFileAppender" type="log4net.Appender.RollingFileAppender" > <file value="LogData\\" /> <appendToFile value="true" /> <datePattern value="ul_yyyy-MM-dd.LOG" /> <maxSizeRollBackups value="10" /> <rollingStyle value="Date" /> <maximumFileSize value="2MB" /> <staticLogFileName value="false" /> <layout type="log4net.Layout.PatternLayout"> </layout> </appender> <root> <level value="ALL"/> <appender-ref ref="AdoNetAppender_SqlServer" /> <appender-ref ref="RollingLogFileAppender" /> </root> </log4net> </configuration>

• Is there a reason why a submit button would fail in ie6 using jquery?

- by kgrad
I have a form being submit to a servlet, there is a jQuery Datepicker on the page. On some computers using ie6, for some reason the page is crashing on submit. I am getting a 404 error, but only sometimes. I have no idea why this would occur. My theory is that somehow it's bypassing the servlet, or its not loading jquery properly, or... I am at a loss. What are some reasons why this could occur on some computers? The exact version of ie6 is 6.0.2900.2180, on windows XP SP2. How can I test with this specific version?

• Matrix xmpp for windows phone with sockets

- by user1608857
I am developing a chat application in windows phone. I am using Matrix XMPP library for that. It worked fine using BOSH. Matrix has released a new version for windows phone which supports sockets. I tried connecting to XMPP using the new version. I tried with both BOSH and Sockets. But it is not working. But it didn't worked for me. I have to develop the application with sockets. I included the line xmppClient.Transport=Transport.Bosh; And tried with sockets also xmppClient.Transport=Transport.Sockets;

• Update webreference gives troubles with different versions of dll

- by Natrium
In my application, I use some dll, let's say library.dll, version 1.0 In my webservice, I also use library.dll, but version 2.0 When I do an update of the webreference, the classes inside of the dll are also generated in the webreference. And this gives troubles because in my application, the classes that are defined in the dll now are also available in the reference and there is a mismatch. How can I solve this? I need to be able to tell the webservice to ignore the dll-code when updating the webreference in the one or the other way. I use Visual Studio 2008.

• what POIs (Point of Interests) DB can I use for a commercial app

- by Ellie
Hi, I need a POI database for a startup project I am working on - it will be a free basic version and a premium paid for version in the sense that user will pay a monthly subscription. I would like to use foursquare type checkin to places and plancast type functionality to search for places (one-line search). Ie I need to: - perform a search for POIs around a location - associate users to that POI, with a time stamp - allow users to add own POIs - provide free-text search for POIs (a la google one-line search) Google API allows great search, but I understand there are limits in number of requests that can be done? This would prevent scaling, and may result in application breaking when too many users. Also what does google T&C say about using this in a paid for service? Openstreetmap I understand does not have these contstraints, but do they also provide a good one-line search type API? Or how could I solve this? Many thanks for any advice, Ellie

• How do you make a Custom Data Generator for SQL XML DataType.

- by Keith Sirmons
Howdy, I am using Visual Studio 2010 and am playing around with the Database Projects. I am creating a DataGenerationPlan to insert data into a simple table, in which one of the column datatypes is XML. Out of the box, the generation plan uses the Regular Expression generator and generates something like this : HGcSv9wa7yM44T9x5oFT4pmBkEmv62lJ7OyAmCnL6yqXC2X.......... I am looking at creating a custom data Generator for this data type and have followed this site for the basics: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa833244.aspx This example works if I am creating a string datatype and using it for a nvarchar datatype. What do I need to change to hook this Generator to the XML Datatype? Below are my code files. The string property works for nvarchar. The XElement property does not work for the xml datatype, and the RecordXMLDataGenerator is not listed as an option in the Generator column for the generation plan. CustomDataGenerators: using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Linq; using System.Text; using Microsoft.Data.Schema.Tools.DataGenerator; using Microsoft.Data.Schema.Extensibility; using Microsoft.Data.Schema; using Microsoft.Data.Schema.Sql; using System.Xml.Linq; namespace CustomDataGenerators { [DatabaseSchemaProviderCompatibility(typeof(SqlDatabaseSchemaProvider))] public class RecordXMLDataGenerator : Generator { private XElement _RecordData; [Output(Description = "Generates string of XML Data for the Record.", Name = "RecordDataString")] public string RecordDataString { get { return _RecordData.ToString(SaveOptions.None); } } [Output(Description = "Generates XML Data for the Record.", Name = "RecordData")] public XElement RecordData { get { return _RecordData; } } protected override void OnGenerateNextValues() { base.OnGenerateNextValues(); XElement element = new XElement("Root", new XElement("Children1", 1), new XElement("Children6", 6) ); _RecordData = element; } } } XML Extensions File: <extensions assembly="" version="1" xmlns="urn:Microsoft.Data.Schema.Extensions" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:schemaLocation="urn:Microsoft.Data.Schema.Extensions Microsoft.Data.Schema.Extensions.xsd"> <extension type="CustomDataGenerators.RecordXMLDataGenerator" assembly="CustomDataGenerators, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=xxxxxxxxxxxx" enabled="true"/> </extensions> Table.sql: CREATE TABLE [dbo].[Record] ( id int IDENTITY (1,1) NOT NULL, recordData xml NULL, userId int NULL, test nvarchar(max) NULL, rowver rowversion NULL, CONSTRAINT pk_RecordID PRIMARY KEY (id) )

• Add Core Data Index to certain Attributes via migration

- by steipete
For performance reasons, i want to set the Indexed Attribute to some of my entities. I created a new core data model version to perform the changes. Core Data detects the changes and migrates my model to the new version, however, NO INDEXES ARE GENERATED. If I recreate the database from scratch, the indexes are there. I checked with SQLite Browser both on the iPhone and on the Simulator. The problem only occurs if a database in the prior format is already there. Is there a way to manually add the indexes? Write some sql for that? Or am I missing something? I did already some more critical migrations, no problems there. But those missing indexes are bugging me. Thanks for helping!

• Error processing Spree sample images - file not recognized by identify command in paperclip geometry.rb:29

- by purpletonic
I'm getting an error when I run the Spree sample data. It occurs when Spree tries to load in the product data, specifically the product images. Here's the error I'm getting: * Execute db:load_file loading ruby <GEM DIR>/sample/lib/tasks/../../db/sample/spree/products.rb -- Processing image: ror_tote.jpeg rake aborted! /var/folders/91/63kgbtds2czgp0skw3f8190r0000gn/T/ror_tote.jpeg20121007-21549-2rktq1 is not recognized by the 'identify' command. <GEM DIR>/paperclip-2.7.1/lib/paperclip/geometry.rb:31:in `from_file' <GEM DIR>/spree/core/app/models/spree/image.rb:35:in `find_dimensions' I've made sure ImageMagick is installed correctly, as previously I was having problems with it. Here's the output I'm getting when running the identify command directly. $ identify Version: ImageMagick 6.7.7-6 2012-10-06 Q16 http://www.imagemagick.org Copyright: Copyright (C) 1999-2012 ImageMagick Studio LLC Features: OpenCL ... other usage info omitted ... I also used pry with the pry-debugger and put a breakpoint in geometry.rb inside of Paperclip. Here's what that section of geometry.rb looks like: # Uses ImageMagick to determing the dimensions of a file, passed in as either a # File or path. # NOTE: (race cond) Do not reassign the 'file' variable inside this method as it is likely to be # a Tempfile object, which would be eligible for file deletion when no longer referenced. def self.from_file file file_path = file.respond_to?(:path) ? file.path : file raise(Errors::NotIdentifiedByImageMagickError.new("Cannot find the geometry of a file with a blank name")) if file_path.blank? geometry = begin silence_stream(STDERR) do binding.pry Paperclip.run("identify", "-format %wx%h :file", :file => "#{file_path}[0]") end rescue Cocaine::ExitStatusError "" rescue Cocaine::CommandNotFoundError => e raise Errors::CommandNotFoundError.new("Could not run the `identify` command. Please install ImageMagick.") end parse(geometry) || raise(Errors::NotIdentifiedByImageMagickError.new("#{file_path} is not recognized by the 'identify' command.")) end At the point of my binding.pry statement, the file_path variable is set to the following: file_path => "/var/folders/91/63kgbtds2czgp0skw3f8190r0000gn/T/ror_tote.jpeg20121007-22732-1ctl1g1" I've also double checked that this exists, by opening my finder in this directory, and opened it with preview app; and also that the program can run identify by running %x{identify} in pry, and I receive the same version Version: ImageMagick 6.7.7-6 2012-10-06 Q16 as before. Removing the additional digits (is this a timestamp?) after the file extension and running the Paperclip.run command manually in Pry gives me a different error: Cocaine::ExitStatusError: Command 'identify -format %wx%h :file' returned 1. Expected 0 I've also tried manually updating the Paperclip gem in Spree to 3.0.2 and still get the same error. So, I'm not really sure what else to try. Is there still something incorrect with my ImageMagick setup?

• Fluent NHib causing visual studio 2010 hanging at runtime

- by Berryl
Just installed and migrated a 2008 solution on Vista ultimate 64 and .net 4.0. Everything builds and tests run surprisingly well but I got the hang description below while trying to run the app under SQLite. It turns out that the hang has got something to do when the call is made for FNH to build the session factory during a run, the only feedback I get is that the database wasn't configure properly without any inner exception. The strange part is that the exact code works perfectly under tests. Any clues? Description: A problem caused this program to stop interacting with Windows. • Change only Revision number in AssemblyInfo.cs with msbuild FileUpdate task

- by Divya mohan Singh
I need to change only the revision number of an AssemblyInfo.cs file. The version number is in the format Major.Minor.Build.Revision e.g. 1.4.6.0. Currently I change the version with the FileUpdate task (from the MSBuild Community Tasks Project) and the following regex: <FileUpdate Files="@(AssemblyResult)" Regex='(\[\s*assembly:\s*AssemblyVersion\(\s*"[^\.]+\.[^\.]+)\.([^\.]+)(\.)([^\.]+)("\)\s*\])' ReplacementText='[assembly: AssemblyVersion("$(AssemblyMajorNumber).$(AssemblyMinorNumber).$(AssemblyBuildNumber).$(Revision)")]' /> Now I need to update only the revision number and leave major, minor and build unchanged. So, is there any task to do this? Or can it be done with a regex? What would be the regular expression then?

• Need to read a file, search for some data and output the data using PHP

- by Kyle
Hello...I am new to PHP (never really used it before tonight) and I need to use a PHP script to read the contents of a file on my website (http://kylemills.net/Geocaching/BadgeGen/MacroFiles/BadgeGenBeta.gsk) and then take some specific varying data and output it. For example: If my file contains the text: random text Here is some text #There is some text here too $Version = "V2.2.23 Beta" random text #some more text $Text="some text" If the above was the contents of my file, I need the script to return "V2.2.23 Beta" (without quotes). The idea is that as I update the file, the version changes and I want this to be reflected across my site. I am sorry if I don't make any sense...any help would be appreciated :) -Thanks so much, Kyle

• Spring.NET. How actively is it being developed/supported?

- by Bubba88
I've made my choice for the developement components on the .NET platform: Spring.NET for IoC and NHibernate for data access. But how safe is it? I've heard here on SO (don't remember which post exactly) that Spring.NET is on its way down, cause for example the Java original version is developed by a large number of people; but (they say that) the sole person behind the .NET version is Mr. Mark Pollack. Is that so? And, if so, does it still make sense to count on Spring.NET for my production applications? if you have similar information about NHibernate, I'll appreciate it; though it seems that the latter is actively supported.

• jQuery Ajax posting Arrays instead of simple data

- by Ignacio
Hey, I've tried to update jQuery to its latest version on a system I'm working and I'm having this issue: I have a file that posts data to a .php: $.post( 'ajax_Save.php', { id: [$('#service_id').val()], number: [$('#number').val()] }, function(data){ ... }); On ajax_Save.php var_dump($_POST) gives: array(26) { ["id"]=> array(1) { [0]=> string(5) "18204" } ["number"]=> array(1) { [0]=> string(5) "18250" }... With jQuery version 1.2.2 the result is: array(26) { ["id"]=> string(5) "18204" ["order_number"]=> string(5) "18250" Which is OK. Any clues? Thx

• Maven Release Plugin with JAXB issues

- by Wysawyg
Hiya, We've got a project set up to use the Maven Release Plugin which includes a phase that unpacks a JAR of XML schemas pulled from Artifactory and a phase that generates XJC classes. We're on maven release 2.2.1. Unfortunately the latter phase is executing before the former which means that it isn't generating the XJC classes for the schema. A partial POM.XML looks like: <plugins> <plugin> <groupId>org.apache.maven.plugins</groupId> <artifactId>maven-compiler-plugin</artifactId> <configuration> 1.6 <target>1.6</target> </configuration> </plugin> <plugin> <groupId>org.apache.maven.plugins</groupId> <artifactId>maven-dependency-plugin</artifactId> <executions> <execution>
<goals> <goal>unpack</goal> <goal>copy</goal> </goals> <configuration> <artifactItems> <artifactItem> <groupId>ourgroupid</groupId> <artifactId>ourschemas</artifactId> <version>5.1</version> <outputDirectory>${project.basedir}/src/main/webapp/xsd</outputDirectory> <excludes>META-INF/</excludes> <overWrite>true</overWrite> </artifactItem> </artifactItems> </configuration> </execution> </executions> </plugin> <plugin> <groupId>org.codehaus.mojo</groupId> <artifactId>maven-buildnumber-plugin</artifactId> <version>0.9.6</version> <executions> <execution> <phase>validate</phase> <goals> <goal>create</goal> </goals> </execution> </executions> <configuration> <doCheck>true</doCheck> <doUpdate>true</doUpdate> </configuration> </plugin> <plugin> <groupId>org.jvnet.jaxb2.maven2</groupId> <artifactId>maven-jaxb2-plugin</artifactId> <configuration> <schemaDirectory>${project.basedir}/src/main/webapp/xsd</schemaDirectory> <schemaIncludes> <include>*.xsd</include> <include>*/*.xsd</include> </schemaIncludes> <verbose>true</verbose> </configuration> <executions> <execution> <goals> <goal>generate</goal> </goals> </execution> </executions> </plugin> I've tried googling for it, unfortunately I ended up with a case of thousands of links none of which were actually relevant so I'd be very grateful if someone knew how to configure the order of the release plugin steps to ensure a was fully executed before it did b. Thanks

This is the error Dependency Walker gives me on an executable that I am building with VC++ 2005 Express Edition. When trying to run the .exe, I get: This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem. • hackage package dependencies and future-proof libraries

- by yairchu
In the dependencies section of a cabal file: Build-Depends: base >= 3 && < 5, transformers >= 0.2.0 Should I be doing something like Build-Depends: base >= 3 && < 5, transformers >= 0.2.0 && < 0.3.0 (putting upper limits on versions of packages I depend on) or not? I'll use a real example: my "List" package on Hackage (List monad transformer and class) If I don't put the limit - my package could break by a change in "transformers" If I do put the limit - a user that uses "transformers" but is using a newer version of it will not be able to use lift and liftIO with ListT because it's only an instance of these classes of transformers-0.2.x I guess that applications should always put upper limits so that they never break, so this question is only about libraries: Shall I use the upper version limit on dependencies or not?

• How to properly test Hibernate length restriction?

- by Cesar
I have a POJO mapped with Hibernate for persistence. In my mapping I specify the following: <class name="ExpertiseArea">

<version name="version" column="VERSION" unsaved-value="null" /> <property name="name" type="string" unique="true" not-null="true" length="100" /> ... </class> And I want to test that if I set a name longer than 100 characters, the change won't be persisted. I have a DAO where I save the entity with the following code: public T makePersistent(T entity){ transaction = getSession().beginTransaction(); transaction.begin(); try{ getSession().saveOrUpdate(entity); transaction.commit(); }catch(HibernateException e){ logger.debug(e.getMessage()); transaction.rollback(); } return entity; } Actually the code above is from a GenericDAO which all my DAOs inherit from. Then I created the following test: public void testNameLengthMustBe100orLess(){ ExpertiseArea ea = new ExpertiseArea( "1234567890" + "1234567890" + "1234567890" + "1234567890" + "1234567890" + "1234567890" + "1234567890" + "1234567890" + "1234567890" + "1234567890"); assertTrue("Name should be 100 characters long", ea.getName().length() == 100); ead.makePersistent(ea); List<ExpertiseArea> result = ead.findAll(); assertEquals("Size must be 1", result.size(),1); ea.setName(ea.getName()+"1234567890"); ead.makePersistent(ea); ExpertiseArea retrieved = ead.findById(ea.getId(), false); assertTrue("Both objects should be equal", retrieved.equals(ea)); assertTrue("Name should be 100 characters long", (retrieved.getName().length() == 100)); } The object is persisted ok. Then I set a name longer than 100 characters and try to save the changes, which fails: 14:12:14,608 INFO StringType:162 - could not bind value '12345678901234567890123456789012345678901234567890123456789012345678901234567890123456789012345678901234567890' to parameter: 2; data exception: string data, right truncation 14:12:14,611 WARN JDBCExceptionReporter:100 - SQL Error: -3401, SQLState: 22001 14:12:14,611 ERROR JDBCExceptionReporter:101 - data exception: string data, right truncation 14:12:14,614 ERROR AbstractFlushingEventListener:324 - Could not synchronize database state with session org.hibernate.exception.DataException: could not update: [com.exp.model.ExpertiseArea#33BA7E09-3A79-4C9D-888B-4263314076AF] //Stack trace 14:12:14,615 DEBUG GenericDAO:87 - could not update: [com.exp.model.ExpertiseArea#33BA7E09-3A79-4C9D-888B-4263314076AF] 14:12:14,616 DEBUG JDBCTransaction:186 - rollback 14:12:14,616 DEBUG JDBCTransaction:197 - rolled back JDBC Connection That's expected behavior. However when I retrieve the persisted object to check if its name is still 100 characters long, the test fails. The way I see it, the retrieved object should have a name that is 100 characters long, given that the attempted update failed. The last assertion fails because the name is 110 characters long now, as if the ea instance was indeed updated. What am I doing wrong here?

• Is there a good extension for working with SVN in Emacs?

- by allyourcode
I've tried psvn.el, but the command to diff the file you're currently looking at is just hideous: M-x svn-file-show-svn-diff. I tried installing vc-svn.el, but couldn't get that working on my version of Emacs: GNU Emacs 21.3.1 (i386-mingw-nt5.1.2600) of 2004-03-10 on NYAUMO. I've tried putting a copy of vc-snv.el in my site-lisp dir, but when I try to run the command "M-x vc-diff" it says my file "is not under version control". The emacs wiki page, which mainly focuses on vc-svn.el, seems to be horribly out of date, as many of the links do not work.

• How to implement SVN pre-commit hook with best performance?

- by mliebelt
We have the following tools in place: Subversion (Version 1.5.9) Polarion (version 3.2.2) Polarion is based on Subversion, so on every action that changes anything (which is often the case), Polarion will use a Subversion commit to change anything. All things are currently stored in one and only one repository, so every commit of every user (some 100-200 on the same repository) will trigger the pre-commit hook. So what is the best strategy to provide pre-commit hooks that will trigger only for some, but not all projects run as fast as possible, because every pre-commit hook will block all other commits. We have tried to implement pre-commit hooks with Java (using SVNKit), but this will start on every commit a Java VM. So any ideas how to implement that nicely?

• Using mx.charts in a Flex Hero mobile project

- by Alexander Farber
Hello, Adobe states that Charts are supported in mobile projects but when I try to change the following working files (created project with File - New - Flex Mobile Project - Google Nexus One): MyTest.mxml: <s:MobileApplication xmlns:fx="http://ns.adobe.com/mxml/2009" xmlns:s="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/spark" firstView="views.MyTestHome"> <s:navigationContent> <s:Button label="Home" click="navigator.popToFirstView();"/> </s:navigationContent> <s:actionContent/> </s:MobileApplication> MyTestHome.mxml: <s:View xmlns:fx="http://ns.adobe.com/mxml/2009" xmlns:s="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/spark" title="Test Chart"> </s:View> to the new MyTestHome.mxml: <s:View xmlns:fx="http://ns.adobe.com/mxml/2009" xmlns:mx="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/mx" xmlns:s="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/spark" title="Test Chart"> <fx:Script> import mx.collections.*; [Bindable] private var medalsAC:ArrayCollection = new ArrayCollection( [ {Country: "USA", Gold: 35, Silver:39, Bronze: 29 }, {Country:"China", Gold: 32, Silver:17, Bronze: 14 }, {Country:"Russia", Gold: 27, Silver:27, Bronze: 38 } ]); </fx:Script> <mx:PieChart id="chart" height="100%" width="100%" paddingRight="5" paddingLeft="5" color="0x323232" dataProvider="{medalsAC}" > <mx:series> <mx:PieSeries labelPosition="callout" field="Gold"> <mx:calloutStroke> <s:SolidColorStroke weight="0" color="0x888888" alpha="1.0"/> </mx:calloutStroke> <mx:radialStroke> <s:SolidColorStroke weight="0" color="#FFFFFF" alpha="0.20"/> </mx:radialStroke> <mx:stroke> <s:SolidColorStroke color="0" alpha="0.20" weight="2"/> </mx:stroke> </mx:PieSeries> </mx:series> </mx:PieChart> </s:View> and also add c:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Flash Builder Burrito\sdks\4.5.0\frameworks\libs\datavisualization.swc c:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Flash Builder Burrito\sdks\4.5.0\frameworks\libs\sparkskins.swc c:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Flash Builder Burrito\sdks\4.5.0\frameworks\libs\mx\mx.swc to Flex Build Path (clicking "Add SWC" button): Then it fails with the error: Could not resolve to a component implementation. Does anybody please have an idea here? Alex

• Store html form on client or server while building?

- by Brett
Hi, I have a fairly complex html form enhanced via jquery. It has multiple tabs, within each one things like a html form builder, uploads, descriptions. There is lots of data, and as the user flicks around the various tabs I'm thinking of posting the data to the server. For example, the form builder, has about 10 properties for each field, as the user flicks between the various fields, an ajax request saves the current values, then loads a new set from the new field clicked on. When the user hits save, the idea is then on the server all these bits and pieces come together and become the live version (i may store them as a temp version while the user is working away). So I guess my question is, for complex forms where the same fields are re-used within the one form, does anyone attempt to save all this data locally and upload it in one hit or do most of you do little ajax post's and compile it all when the final save button is hit? b

• msxml domdocument stops working when I move to staging server

- by blockhead
I have some code that looks like this: Set xmlHttp = Server.CreateObject("MSXML2.ServerXMLHTTP") xmlHttp.Open "Get", myRSSfile, false xmlHttp.Send() myXML = xmlHttp.ResponseText Set xmlResponse = Server.CreateObject("MSXML2.DomDocument") xmlResponse.async = false xmlResponse.LoadXml(myXML) Set xmlHttp = Nothing Set objLst = xmlResponse.getElementsByTagName("item") Set xmlResponse = Nothing NoOfHeadlines = objLst.length - 1 Response.Write NoOfHeadlines This worked find on my development server. When I moved it over to a staging server (which I have no control over, and no nothing about), NoOfHeadlines returns 0. It seems obvious to me that DomDocument is not working the way its supposed to. Is this a version issue? How do I find out what version of DomDocument is on the staging server? Is there another possibility?
