  • How to float span properly

    I am developing this site http://indigonightlife.com/ The second section down is This Weeks Events. To the right of that heading is an image of the 5 little blue lines. The problem Im having is I cant get it to float to the right side of the container. As it is now, its in the middle of the container. Ive tried all kinds of combos of floats, clearfixes, and such but I cant get it to stay to the right. The section below titled Resident and Guest DJs has the same image but its floated fine. Not sure what the difference is. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

    I prefer creating my nav menus from markup (rather than Javascript), like in this example. Is it possible to create menus and/or menu items from markup which are disabled? I see how to use Javascript to do this (use the disabled config property), but I'm looking for some way to encode this information in markup - perhaps there's a CSS class to use? Or am I out of luck here?

  • CSS Differences Between IE and FF

    I hope I'm not breaking any rules by asking a question that pertains to a project I'm working on. If you view my page here and view it in Firefox and again in Internet Explorer, the width of the main content boxes differs. In Firefox, everything aligns perfectly with the advertisement at the top of the page, but in IE, the width of the content boxes seems to fall short by about 20 or so pixels. My question is obvious by now, but what is causing the width in IE to fall short, and what would a simple solution be? If I happen to be breaking the rules by asking a question that is not generic enough to benefit others, then allow me to rephrase it; what would be the best approach to solving visual differences between browsers? Should I use a separate CSS file for IE, or is there a way to define lines in my CSS file that only get rendered by a specific browser? It would be best if someone could provide me with the necessary CSS to align things properly, but I would be more than happy to learn about how to make the CSS dynamic (if that's possible).     What are pros and cons of this technique (see Softfolio for an example). Two things I personally thought of are as follows: Impossible to tell someone where an item of interest is located (like, you probably won't say "324-th row, second column") Broken navigation when you return back to an infinitely scrolled page. What else can you think of? And what do you personally think of this approach in general. Would you use this in you projects?

  • Radio buttons + array elements

    I have a form that can be dynamically duplicated (with JS) so that the user can enter as much data as he wants. This works great for text inputs, because I just leave the name attribute the same (ending with a []) and then when the values are posted, it just returns me an array. Now I just realized that this doesn't work so well for radio buttons, because the names actually need to be unique for each set. But from the data standpoint, each set only returns one value, so retrieving the data from the POST data wouldn't be a problem, it just screws up the functionality of my form. There's no way around this, is there? I'm just screwed and I can't use arrays?

    Hi there, I'm creating a set of input fields and using javascript's .style.backgroundColor = "red" to change the colour of any invalid fields. In Chrome, there is no problem. However, in Firefox, as soon as I touch the backgroundColor (even if I set it to white) then I get these strange shadow effects.   • Resizing iframe height using javascript issue

    I have an iframe which content is a php-file, and that php-file displays some mysql records. The more records, the larger the iframe height should get, otherwise it wont show all of the information in the iframe. Here is a code I have for dynamically setting the iframe height, from the iframes content (the php file): var x = document.body.scrollHeight; x = x + 20 + 'px'; window.parent.document.getElementById("iframe001").style.height=x; iframe001 is the iframe I am referring to above. I am adding 20px of height extra because of borders etc... Now, sometimes this resizing works, sometimes it doesn't. Does anybody know why it works sometimes. If I alert the 'x' variable, it shows different values sometimes, but most times it works. Any other ways you know of setting the iframes height from the content of the iframe? Thanks

  • Any way to find out which line break char(s) to use in Javascript?

    I'm trying to parse some text into a textarea control and at the same time replace all with ordinary line break chars. I have been able to do it in windows by replacing with CR (it didn't work with CRLF strangely enough, it gave me linebreak + empty space) but I'm afraid that this code won't work in Unix/Mac because they use LF for line break. Is there any way to use the system default line break char in javascript? Something similar to Environment.NewLine in .Net (I wasn't able to write backslash in this editor but I use /r for CR and /n for LF, replace / with backslash)

    I set the width of a textarea to 100%, but now I need to know how many characters can fit in one row. I'm trying to write a javascript function to auto-grow/shrink a textarea. I'm trying to keep from using jquery since I just need this one function. My logic is to rows = textarea.value.split('\n'), iterate through rows and count += rows[i].length/textarea.cols, then count += rows.length, and finally textarea.rows = count. The only problem is that count is too large because textarea.cols is too small.

I have tried variations on this: #navbar a:hover { /* These links will be blue when hovered-over */ background-color: #3366FF; } With the intended meaning "this only applies to links with <div id="navbar">" But it didn't work.
