• which way is correct to retrive data from oracle??

  before answer me plz thinking about the futures of these kind of program and answer me plz. I wanna get some data from oracle server like: 1-get all the function,package,procedure and etc for showing them or drop them & etc... 2-compile my *.sql files,get the result if they have problem & etc... becuz I was beginner in oracle first of all I for solve the second problem I try to connect to sqlPlus by RUN sqlplus and trace the output(I mean,I change the output stream of shell and trace what happend and handle the assigned message to customer. NOW THIS PART SUCCEED. just a little bit I have problem with get all result because the output is asynchronous.any way... [in this case I log in to oracle Server by send argument to the sqlplus by make a process in c#] after that I try to get all function,package or procedure name,but I have problem in speed!so I try to use oracle.DataAccess.dll to connect the database. now I m so confusing about: which way is correct way to build a program that work like Oracle Developer! I do not have any experience for like these program how work. If Your answer is I must use the second way follow this part plz: I search a little bit the Golden,PLedit (Benthic software),I have little bit problem how I must create the connection string?because I thinking about how I can find the host name or port number that oracle work on them?? am I need read the TNSNames.Ora file? IF your answer is I must use the first way follow this part plz: do u have any Idea for how I parse the output?because for example the result of a table is so confusing...[i can handle & program it but I really need someone experience,because the important things to me learn how such software work so nice and with quick response?] All of the has different style in output... • What are some things I should watch out for before hiring a freelance programmer

  I am looking to hire a freelancer for a big web application. The budget for this project is a little over $20,000. The programmer will develop in asp.net MVC C#. Are there any usual things I should pay attention to or watch out for. i really don't want to hire the freelancer and when he/she is done with the project it is not what i expect. I have heard horror stories where the programmer delivered a fantastic product but the code was not commented and parts of the software was hidden behind DLLs. Is there anyway to avoid situations like this? I am sure I cannot think of every possible scenario when i write the project description. Also, is it advisable to hire a lawyer to write the contract?

• Double Buffering with awt

  Is double buffering (in java) possible with awt? Currently, I'm aware that swing should not be used with awt, so I can't use BufferStrategy and whatnot. If double buffering is possible with awt, do I have to write the buffer by hand? Unlike swing, awt doesn't seem to have the same built-in double buffering capability. If I do have to write the code by hand, is there a good tutorial to look at? Or is it just easier/advisable for a novice programmer to use swing instead? Sorry about the multi-step question. • What would you do if you coded a C++/OO cross-platform framework and realize its laying on your disk

  This project started as a development platform because i wanted to be able to write games for mobile devices, but also being able to run and debug the code on my desktop machine too (ie, the EPOC device emulator was so bad): the platforms it currently supports are: Window-desktop WinCE Symbian iPhone The architecture it's quite complete with 16bit 565 video framebuffer, blitters, basic raster ops, software pixel shaders, audio mixer with shaders (dsp fx), basic input, a simple virtual file system... although this thing is at it's first write and so there are places where some refactoring would be needed. Everything has been abstracted away and the guiding principle are: mostly clean code, as if it was a book to just be read object-orientation, without sacrifying performances mobile centric The idea was to open source it, but without being able to manage it, i doubt the software itself would benefit from this move.. Nevertheless, i myself have learned a lot from unmaintained projects. So, thanking you in advance for reading all this... really, what would you do?

  Why does Prolog match (X, Xs) with a tuple containing more elements? An example: test2((X, Xs)) :- write(X), nl, test2(Xs). test2((X)) :- write(X), nl. test :- read(W), test2(W). ?- test. |: a, b(c), d(e(f)), g. a b(c) d(e(f)) g yes Actually this is what I want to achieve but it seems suspicious. Is there any other way to treat a conjunction of terms as a list in Prolog?

• HSQLDB and in-memory files

  Is it possible to setup HSQLDB in a way, so that the files with the db information are written into memory instead of using actual files? I want to use hsqldb to export some data structures together with hibernate mappings. Is is, however, not possible to write temporary files, so that I need to generate the files in-memory and return a stream with their contents as a response. Setting hsqldb to use nio seems not to be a solution, because there is no way to get hold of those files before they get written onto the filesystem. What I'm thinking of is a protocol handler for hsqldb, but I didn't find a suitable solution yet. Just to describe in other words: A hack solution would be to pass hsqldb a stream or several streams. It would then during its operation write data into those streams. After all data is written, the user of the db could then use those streams to send it back over the network.

• XmlDocument.WriteTo truncates resultant file

  Trying to serialize an XmlDocument to file. The XmlDocument is rather large; however, in the debugger I can see that the InnerXml property has all of the XML blob in it -- it's not truncated there. Here's the code that writes my XmlDocument object to file: // Write that string to a file. var fileStream = new FileStream("AdditionalData.xml", FileMode.OpenOrCreate, FileAccess.Write); xmlDocument.WriteTo(new XmlTextWriter(fileStream, Encoding.UTF8) {Formatting = Formatting.Indented}); fileStream.Close(); The file that's produced here only writes out to line like 5,760 -- it's actually truncated in the middle of a tag! Anyone have any ideas why this would truncate here?

But how can they test that, is there some sort of simple code (java or c++) to do it that you could share for me to evaluate and hopefully write my own to test the programs I write for University? This is sort of a follow up question to this one where I ask if shorter code results in best performance. P.S: Im interested in both of how topcoders knows performance and writing code to test performance.

  Hi There, In my part time position as entire IT department at my Office ( I'm a MCSD developer normally ) I have been asked to change a shared folder. Only I don't really understand all the Shared / Security options. I have a folder that must be accessed by 2 people in the company (and no one else). They both must have read/write/edit and change access. They must be able to read/write/edit each others files; existing or newly created. Should be easy but I'm a bit overwhelemd by all the choices.   Hi all, I am creating a Daily Reccurrance pattern in calendar items. But there is a issue as before clicking "save and Send Invitations" button, but in the Document Properties field i am able to view the RepeatForUnit and based on its value i am identifying the Reccurrance type like (D: for daily, W: for Weekly, M: for montlhy etc). But, After clicking on the "save and Send Invitations" button, the Recurrance is getting saved but after that, i am unable to get the RepeatForUnit field in Document Properties. Kindly help me, how to identify the Reccurrance type and the related fields. Note: I am using Domino.dll using C#. Regards, Preeti

  i have some html files as part of a regular website that has been ported over to asp.net mvc.   I've set up IIS6 to send the following headers Custom Header Name: X-UA-Compatible Custom Header Value: IE=EmulateIE7 that supposed to force IE 8 into IE 7 Compatibility mode. You can read more about it on MSDN . I have noticed by looking in the Developer toolbar that if I have a DTD defined the document mode correctly gets set to IE 7, but the browser mode is IE 8. If the page doesn't have a DTD the document mode gets set to Quirks and Browser Mode once again IE 8. Am I doing something wrong. How do I force IE 8 to set IE 7 Browser mode. Thanks

• getElementsByTagName returns 0-length list when called from didFinishLoad delegate

  I'm using the Chromium port of WebKit on Windows and I'm trying to retrieve a list of all of the images in my document. I figured the best way to do this was to implement WebKit::WebFrameClient::didFinishLoading like so: WebNodeList list = document->getElementsByTagName(L"img"); for (size_t i = 0; i < list.length(); ++i) { // Manipulate images here... } However, when this delegate fires, list.length() returns 0. The only times I've seen it return a list of non-zero length is when I substitute "body" or "head" for "img". Strangely enough, if I call getElementsByTagName(L"img") outside of the delegate, it works correctly. I'm guessing that the DOM isn't fully loaded when didFinishLoading is called, but that would seem to contradict the delegate's name. Does anyone know what I may be missing here?

  Hi, I am working on a web site with several other developers and we have had problems where people commit JavaScript code with AJAX calls that use URL's relative to the site root. An example would be /Home/Index which will not work if the site is hosted in a virtual directory. To get round the problem we use a $.url() method to convert it to a full path, e.g. $("#container").load($.url("/Home/Index")) I am trying to write a unit test that will search each JavaScript file and find places where the $.url method is not being used. The only problem is that I cannot seem to write a regex expression to do this. I have tried the following: (?!\$\.url\()"(/\w*)+" But this does not work. I cannot find a way to say that I don't want the $.url in front. Does anyone know if this is possible? Note that I need regular expressions that are compatible with .NET Thanks.

  I'm quite new to Powershell and working on a little project with functions. What I'm trying to do is creating a function that takes 2 arguments. The first argument ($Item1) decides the size of the array, the second argument ($Item2) decides the value of the indexes. So if I write: $addToArray 10 5 I need the function to create a array with 10 indexes and the value 5 in each of them. The second argument would also have to take "text" as a value.   I need to write my next project using ExtJs. It's a nice Javascript lib but I don't fully understand the idea behind it. Take the docs page for example: http://www.extjs.com/deploy/dev/docs/ Am I supposed to write my web applications with extjs like that? One page that should never be refreshed, and everything getting done by AJAX? How do you debug such applications if getting to the right place may take a lot of 'clicking' and working with it. You cannot fix the bug and hit refresh in the browser to see the results. Any suggestions?

  Hi, I am planning on starting my 1st VSTO project. What I want to be able to do is: Download and Upload versions of a MS Word document to a web service. With authentication by overriding the save button Call a web service to list a bunch of tag that can be inserted into a document. When a user double clicks a tag the selected tag is inserted into the cursor position. I am pretty sure this is all possible just want some confirmation? Also would like to know how long would it take to make something like this. I think the biggest issue will be authentication and listing exiting files to download then allowing the user to download a .doc and restore previous versions of that file via the web service.

  Hi i have a document from which i am trying to extract a date. But the problem is within the node along with the date their is some text too. Something like <div class="postHeader"> Posted on July 20, 2009 9:22 PM PDT </div> From this tag i just want the date item not the Posted on text. something like ./xhtml:div[@class = 'postHeader'] is getting everything. and to be precise, the document i have is basically a nodelist of this elements for eg i will get 10 nodes of these elements with different date values but to be worse the problem is sometime inside these tags some random other tags also pops us like anchors etc. Can i write a universal expath which will just get the date out of the div tag?

  I have a form that contains 5 check boxes. The user may select one or more of these check boxes. The user may select 2 and leave 3 unchecked or select 4 and leave one unchecked and so on, in that case how can I write the php/mysql code that will insert the form data into the database. With just one selection it's easy, I would do: $checkbox_value = $_POST['i_agree']; mysql_query("INSERT INTO terms (user, pass, conditions) VALUES ('$user','$pass','$checkbox_value')"); But how can I write this when there are multiple check box options and only one or more of them will be checked? I want to insert them all in one column called "tags" separated by commas.
