  • Powershell function that creates a array by input

    - by user2971548
    I'm quite new to Powershell and working on a little project with functions. What I'm trying to do is creating a function that takes 2 arguments. The first argument ($Item1) decides the size of the array, the second argument ($Item2) decides the value of the indexes. So if I write: $addToArray 10 5 I need the function to create a array with 10 indexes and the value 5 in each of them. The second argument would also have to take "text" as a value. This is my code so far. $testArray = @(); $indexSize = 0; function addToArray($Item1, $Item2) { while ($indexSize -ne $Item1) { $indexSize ++; } Write-host "###"; while ($Item2 -ne $indexSize) { $script:testArray += $Item2; $Item2 ++; } } Any help is appreciated. Kind regards Dennis Berntsson

  • Looking to eventually build a smartphone app...

    - by Brian L
    Hi all- I'm a young, inexperienced programmer (I've had a year of Java, some MATLAB, and HTML/CSS in school) but I've decided that to get better, I'm making it my goal to produce a simple smartphone app of some kind this year- probably either webOS or Android since I'm on a PC and can't afford a Mac just to write an iPhone app. So my question is, where do I start? I've read the threads about How to Write for Android and such, but I'm not sure I have enough Java experience to just jump right in. And then there's webOS which is based on JavaScript, correct? I guess I'd just like some input from more experienced folks. I have some Barnes and Noble book credit I'm looking to get rid of too, so if there's a guide you think would be useful, feel free to request. tl;dr: Programming newbie ultimately wants to build a simple smartphone app. Where do I start?

  • appending SVG string to dom

    - by Wieringen
    I'm trying to append a string of svg elements to the dom. This is my setup. var oFragment = ''; for (var i = 0; i < 10; i++) { oFragment += '<g><path id="note-1" d="M 6,3 84,6 c 0,0 -6,76 14,91 L 58,97 19,89 c 0,0 -24,-5 -13,-86 z" style="fill:#ffc835;" /></g> '; } Here is what i tried. It gives the following error: "parseXML is not defined" var oSVG = document.getElementById("svg-wall").getSVGDocument(); var oNotes = oSVG.getElementById('notes'); oNotes.appendChild(parseXML(oFragment, document)); So my question is what am i doing wrong and is this even the best way to append a svg string to the dom?

    I need to format my pie and column charts to show the $ and comma in currency format ($###,###) when you hover over the charts. Right now, it is displaying the number and percentage but the number as #####.## here is my code. Any help would be appreciated. // Load the Visualization API and the piechart package. google.load('visualization', '1.0', {'packages':['corechart']}); // Set a callback to run when the Google Visualization API is loaded. google.setOnLoadCallback(drawChart); var formatter = new google.visualization.NumberFormat({ prefix: '$' }); formatter.format(data, 1); var options = { pieSliceText: 'value' }; // Callback that creates and populates a data table, // instantiates the pie chart, passes in the data and // draws it. function drawChart() { // REVENUE CHART - Create the data table. var data4 = new google.visualization.DataTable(); data4.addColumn('string', 'Status'); data4.addColumn('number', 'In Thousands'); data4.addRows([ ['Net tution & Fees', 213.818], ['Auxiliaries', 30.577], ['Government grants/contracts', 39.436], ['Private grants/gifts', 39.436], ['Investments', 10.083], ['Clinics', 14.353], ['Other', 5.337] ]); // EXPENSES CHART - Create the data table. var data5 = new google.visualization.DataTable(); data5.addColumn('string', 'Status'); data5.addColumn('number', 'Amount'); data5.addRows([ ['Instruction', 133.868], ['Sponsored Progams', 34.940], ['Auxiliaries', 30.064], ['Academic Support', 25.529], ['Depreciation & amortization', 18.548], ['Student Services', 22.626], ['Plant operations & maintenance', 18.105], ['Fundraising', 13.258], ['Geneal Administration', 11.628], ['Interest', 6.846], ['Student Aid', 1.886], ]); // ENDOWMENT CHART - Create the data table. var data6 = new google.visualization.DataTable(); data6.addColumn('string', 'Status'); data6.addColumn('number', 'In Millions'); data6.addRows([ ['2010', 178.7], ['2011', 211.693], ['2012', 199.3] ]); // Set REVENUE chart options var options4 = { is3D: true, fontName: 'Arial', colors:['#AFD8F8', '#F6BD0F', '#8BBA00', '#FF8E46', '#008E8E', '#CCCCCC', '#D64646', '#8E468E'], 'title':'', 'width':550, 'height':250}; // Set EXPENSES chart options var options5 = { is3D: true, fontName: 'Arial', colors:['#AFD8F8', '#F6BD0F', '#8BBA00', '#FF8E46', '#008E8E', '#CCCCCC', '#D64646', '#8E468E'], 'title':'', 'width':550, 'height':250}; // Set ENDOWMENT chart options var options6 = { is3D: true, fontName: 'Arial', colors:['#AFD8F8', '#F6BD0F', '#8BBA00', '#FF8E46', '#008E8E', '#CCCCCC', '#D64646', '#8E468E'], 'title':'', 'width':450, 'height':250}; // Instantiate and draw our chart, passing in some options. var chart4 = new google.visualization.PieChart(document.getElementById('chart_div4')); chart4.draw(data4, options4); var chart5 = new google.visualization.PieChart(document.getElementById('chart_div5')); chart5.draw(data5, options5); var chart6 = new google.visualization.ColumnChart(document.getElementById('chart_div6')); chart6.draw(data6, options6);}

  • Regex for Searching for Text Not Preceeded By a Specific String

    - by James
    Hi, I am working on a web site with several other developers and we have had problems where people commit JavaScript code with AJAX calls that use URL's relative to the site root. An example would be /Home/Index which will not work if the site is hosted in a virtual directory. To get round the problem we use a $.url() method to convert it to a full path, e.g. $("#container").load($.url("/Home/Index")) I am trying to write a unit test that will search each JavaScript file and find places where the $.url method is not being used. The only problem is that I cannot seem to write a regex expression to do this. I have tried the following: (?!\$\.url\()"(/\w*)+" But this does not work. I cannot find a way to say that I don't want the $.url in front. Does anyone know if this is possible? Note that I need regular expressions that are compatible with .NET Thanks.

  • PUT parameters not working in python / google app engine

    - by magegu
    hi, i'm working on a simple RESTful webservice with python with the webapp framework on the google app engine. Basically i'm sending all request via AJAX/jquery - for POST it works like a charm, but when I'm sending data with PUT, the parameters are empty / not processed. this is my PUT: $.ajax({ type: "PUT", url: "/boxes", data: { name: this.name, archived: this.archived }, success: function(msg){ } }); firebug saids i'm putting: Parameter application/x-www-form-urlencoded archived false name 123112323asdasd but using this python code: from google.appengine.ext import webapp from google.appengine.ext.webapp import util, template from google.appengine.ext import db from google.appengine.api.datastore_types import * from django.utils import simplejson as json import cgi import datetime class BoxHandler(webapp.RequestHandler): def post(self): #working print "test" self.response.out.write(self.request.get("name")) def put(self): print "test" #not working self.response.out.write(self.request.get("name")) will just return test Status: 200 OK Content-Type: text/html; charset=utf-8 Cache-Control: no-cache Expires: Fri, 01 Jan 1990 00:00:00 GMT Content-Length: 0 so .. hm, is there anything i'm missing here? cheers, Martin

  • Javascript one-liners

    - by peoro
    Often I find some really cool javascript one liners that you can copy and paste into your browser address bar in order to get some fancy effects or even useful ones. This, for example, will let you edit anything on the page. javascript:document.body.contentEditable='true'; document.designMode='on'; void 0 What is your favorite? EDIT: I know that technically all these snippets are just javascript scripts that gets evaluated by the browser as if they were defined in the page. I also know that many browsers have got extensions to let you run javascript code (also letting you store scripts somewhere, providing a good editor etc etc). However that's not so practical; I'm not a javascript developer, haven't got firebug installed, and I can't install it anywhere I go. My idea idea is that of collecting the best "mini-scripts" that whoever can just copy and paste in his browser without the need of installing extensions and stuff.

  • Using Jquery and Ajax in ASP.NET

    - by xkcd
    I am using ajax and jquery to load contents into a div. My jquery looks like this $("a.trigger").click(function() { $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "GetStuff.aspx", data: "id=0", success: function(response){ $("#contentDiv").html(response); } }); }); In GetStuff.aspx I would like to write some asp.net html controls like private void Page_Load(object sender, System.EventArgs e) { Response.Expires = -1; Response.ContentType = "text/plain"; Response.Write("<asp:Label id=\"label1\" runat=\"server\" text=\"helloworld\"/>"); Response.End(); } However the label does not appear on the page. I tried to put the asp:Label in my aspx file like this <%@ Page Language="C#" Inherits="Untitled.GetStuff" %> <asp:Label id="label12" runat="server" text="helloworld2"/> It also does not work. How can I get asp.net html controls to show up?

  • Handling multiple exceptions

    - by the-banana-king
    Hi there, I have written a class which loads configuration objects of my application and keeps track of them so that I can easily write out changes or reload the whole configuration at once with a single method call. However, each configuration object might potentially throw an exception when doing IO, yet I do not want those errors to cancel the overall process so that the other objects are still given a chance to reload/write. Therefore I collect all exceptions which are thrown while iterating over the objects and store them in a super-exception, which is thrown after the loop, since each exception must still be handled and someone has to be notified of what exactly went wrong. However, that approach looks a bit odd to me. Someone out there with a cleaner solution? Here is some code of the mentioned class: public synchronized void store() throws MultipleCauseException { MultipleCauseException me = new MultipleCauseException("unable to store some resources"); for(Resource resource : this.resources.values()) { try { resource.store(); } catch(StoreException e) { me.addCause(e); } } if(me.hasCauses()) throw me; }

  • HSQLDB and in-memory files

    - by lewap
    Is it possible to setup HSQLDB in a way, so that the files with the db information are written into memory instead of using actual files? I want to use hsqldb to export some data structures together with hibernate mappings. Is is, however, not possible to write temporary files, so that I need to generate the files in-memory and return a stream with their contents as a response. Setting hsqldb to use nio seems not to be a solution, because there is no way to get hold of those files before they get written onto the filesystem. What I'm thinking of is a protocol handler for hsqldb, but I didn't find a suitable solution yet. Just to describe in other words: A hack solution would be to pass hsqldb a stream or several streams. It would then during its operation write data into those streams. After all data is written, the user of the db could then use those streams to send it back over the network.

  • How to iterate javascript object properties in the order they were written.

    - by Jenea
    Hi. I identified a bug in my code which I hope to solve with minimal refactoring effort. This bug occurs in Chrome and Opera browsers. Problem: var obj = {23:"AA",12:"BB"}; //iterating through obj's properties for(i in obj) document.write("Key: "+i +" "+"Value: "+obj[i]); Output in FF,IE Key: 23 Value: AA Key: 12 Value: BB Output in Opera and Chrome (Wrong) Key: 12 Value BB Key: 23 Value AA I attempted to make an inverse ordered object like this var obj1={"AA":23,"BB":12}; for(i in obj1) document.write("Key: "+obj[i] +" "+"Value: "+i); However the output is the same. Is there a way to get for all browser the same behaviour with small changes?

  • Recursive function for a binary search in C++

    - by boomsnack
    Create a recursive function for the binary search. This function accepts a sorted array and a give item being search for and returns the index of the item if this give item in the array or returns -1 if this give item is not in the array. Moreover, write a test program to test your function. Sorry for the bad english but my teacher can not write it or speak it very well. This is for a final project and determines whether I graduate or not I went to the tutor and he did not know how to do it either. Any help is greatly appreicated.

  • Firefox, prevent rendering between javascript statements.

    - by Erik
    I'm trying to create some kind of zoom around the mouse cursor feature on my website which ultimately runs these two lines (+ the same for height/scrollTop). canvas.style.width = someValue; canvas.parentNode.scrollLeft = someOtherValue; The problem is that in firefox(3.6) the page is re-rendered directly after the first row has been executed and since the view is depending on both values this means that every time i recalculate the view firefox will will render an invalid view before the correct one, in other words creating flicker. I've tried swapping the two rows but get the same problem. In chrome, opera and IE this doesn't happen. Both lines are executed before any rendering is done. Is there any way to lock the rendering manually, maybe something like this? document.disableRendering(); //fantasy function canvas.style.width = someValue; canvas.parentNode.scrollLeft = someOtherValue; document.enableRendering(); //fantasy function

  • Referencing View directory in asp.net mvc

    - by ooo
    i have some html files as part of a regular website that has been ported over to asp.net mvc. In my code i need to read and write these html files and stick them in a tinymce editor To be able to read and write this file from disk in the past i had a hard coded path but this doesn't seem to work in asp.net mvc unless i do something like this: Writing: string _urlDirectory = @"c:\hosting\MySite\Views\Members\newsletters\test.html"; System.IO.File.WriteAllText(_urlDirectory, htmlData_); Reading: string url = @"c:\hosting\MySite\Views\Members\newsletters\test.html"; var req = WebRequest.Create(url); var response = req.GetResponse(); StreamReader sr = new StreamReader(response.GetResponseStream()); string htmlData_ = sr.ReadToEnd(); i am moving my site from one data center to another and the directory structure is changing. instead of just changing the hard coded path to another hard coded path i wanted to see if there was a more relative way to reference these files.

  • Are there any e-commerce websites that use NoSQL databases

    - by Saif Bechan
    I have read a lot lately about 'NoSQL' databases such as CouchDB, MongoDB etc. Most of the websites I have seen using this are mainly text based websites such as The New York Times and Source forge. I was wondering if you could apply this to websites where payment is a huge issue. I am thinking of the following issues: How well can you secure the data Do these system provide an easy backup/restore machanism How are transactions handled commit/rollback I have read the following articles that cover some aspects: Can I do transactions and locks in CouchDB? Pros/Cons of document based database vs relational database In these posts the aspect of transactions if covered. However the questions of security and backups is not covered. Can someone shed some light on this subject? And if possible, does anyone know of some e-commerce websites that have successfully implemented the document based database.

  • View plain text files with different background colors in Mac OSX, for different programming languag

    - by Werner
    Hi, I work with Mac OS X Leopard. I usually have 5 or 10 text files opened at the same time with different programming languages; one for a bash script, another for a python one, etc. When I use exposé all of them look the same, so it is difficult to select them. I wonder how could I work with just plain text files in OSX, so when they are opened in an editor the background color changes or some other thign, so when using exposé it is clear to me which window belongs to what language. I thought about inserting some kind of info to the last line of each document, and then creat some applescript that converts it to RTF or someother text document which includes color in bacjground, so then it is opened with textmate or someother app. Do you know a better approach for this? Thanks

  • In CSS, can "#footer #caption" coexist with "#content # caption"?

    - by Jian Lin
    I was going to "nest" the CSS ids like this #content #caption { color: teal } ... #footer #caption { margin: 2em 1em } because that's the way SASS (a CSS generator) can do nesting for... but then in one HTML document, we cannot have two ids with the same name, isn't that true, so the above nesting won't work or won't work well. (esp if document.getElementById() or $('#caption') or $('caption') is needed to select the element). We can use #content #content_caption { color: teal } ... #footer #footer_caption { margin: 2em 1em } but then why 1 more level of nesting? why not just #content_caption { color: teal } ... #footer_caption { margin: 2em 1em } ?
