  • What is a good PDF report generator tool for python?

    - by jlouis
What is a good tool for PDF report generation in Python? I've checked out ReportLab, but it seems to be awfully low-level for what I want to do. My current hunch is to call TeX on the command-line and let it produce the PDF, but if there is something that is easier to work with (and looks professional - We'll send this to customers) I'd very much like a prod in the right direction.

    - by Longball27
Hi, Sorry if this is a duplicate, but i think I've seen enough of Google for one day! My application needs to adjust a clients current age by +0.5 if it has been 6 months since their birthday. The code should look something like this, but how many ticks would there be in 6 months? if (DateTime.Today - dateOfBirth.Date > new TimeSpan(6)) { adjust = 0.5M; } else { adjust = 0M; } Thanks in advance

  • Mixing garbage collected framework with normal code

    - by shw
I know my way around Objective-C and I have experience with garbage collection from .NET, although I never used it in objective-c. I write my code without using it. Now I'm thinkig about using one of the frameworks (Blocks) which is available as GC-only. My question is - can I still use the framework without any changes to my current non-GC code and without using GC myself?

  • GUI and Threading

    - by cam
    Isn't there a better way to handle GUI (WinForms) from another thread than creating a delegate for every single method I need to use? It seems like there would be a better way. Here's the current code I use for every single GUI method: private delegate void SetStatusTextDelegate(string set_text); public void SetStatusText(string set_text) { if (status_prog.InvokeRequired) { status_prog.Invoke(new SetStatusTextDelegate(SetStatusText), set_text); } else { status_prog.Text = set_text; } }

  • Javascript to take a screenshot of a website without using ActiveX

    - by Jourkey
I have a JS app that an user interacts with. I need to save the appearance of the interface at the current time, crop out the part that I need (or only shot the part that I need by specifying the div), and send it back to the server. Clearly any external services would not be able to do this, I need a javascript (or flash) script that can save the screen appearance. Is this possible? Thanks. Also, as the comment below says, I cannot use Active X.

I am tying out this tutorial, http://www.ezzylearning.com/tutorial.aspx?tid=5869127. It works perfectly. What I am now trying to do is to host the aspx contents as html file. This html file is hosted on my wampserver which is on my laptop. The asp.net code hosted on my test server. When I try to access, I get the following error, Resource interpreted as Script but transferred with MIME type text/html: "http://201.x.x.x/testAjax/Default.aspx/AddProductToCart?callback=jQuery17103264484549872577_1346923699990&{%20pID:%20%226765%22,%20qty:%20%22100%22,%20lblType:%20%2220%22%20}&_=1346923704482". jquery.min.js:4 Uncaught SyntaxError: Unexpected token < I am not sure how to solve this problem. index.html code $(function () { $('#btnAddToCart').click(function () { var result = $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "http://202.161.45.124/testAjax/Default.aspx/AddProductToCart", crossDomain: true, data: '{ pID: "6765", qty: "100", lblType: "20" }', contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8", dataType: "jsonp", success: succeeded, failure: function (msg) { alert(msg); }, error: function (xhr, err) { alert(err); } }); }); }); function succeeded(msg) { alert(msg.d); } function btnAddToCart_onclick() { } </script> </head> <body> <form name="form1" method="post"> <div> <input type="button" id="btnAddToCart" onclick="return btnAddToCart_onclick()" value="Button" /> </div> </form> aspx.vb Imports System.Web.Services Imports System.Web.Script.Services <ScriptService()> Public Class WebForm1 Inherits Page Protected Sub Page_Load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Load Session("test") = "" End Sub <WebMethod()> <ScriptMethod(UseHttpGet:=False, ResponseFormat:=ResponseFormat.Json)> Public Shared Function AddProductToCart(pID As String, qty As String, lblType As String) As String Dim selectedProduct As String = String.Format("+ {0} - {1} - {2}", pID, qty, lblType) HttpContext.Current.Session("test") += selectedProduct Return HttpContext.Current.Session("test").ToString() End Function End Class

  • how to remove empty tags in input xml

    - by SGB
My java module gets a huge input xml from a mainframe. Unfortunately, the mainframe is unable to skip optional elements when it is not a leaf node, with the result that I get a LOT of empty tags in my input : So, <pre><code><SSN>111111111</SSN> <Employment> <Current> <Address> <line1/> <line2/> <line3/> <city/> <state/> <country/> </Address> <Phone> <phonenumber/> <countryCode/> </Phone> </Current> <Previous> <Address> <line1/> <line2/> <line3/> <city/> <state/> <country/> </Address> <Phone> <phonenumber/> <countryCode/> </Phone> </Previous> </Employment> <MaritalStatus>Single</MaritalStatus> </code></pre> should be <SSN>111111111</SSN> <MaritalStatus>Single</MaritalStatus> I use jaxb to unmarshall the input xml string that the mainframe sends it. Is there a clean/ easy way to remove all the empty group tags, or do I have to do this manuall in the code for each element. I have over 35 elements in my input xml, so I would love to it if jaxb itself had a way of doing this automatically? Thanks, SGB

  • Is it possible to publish component revisions within workflow?

    - by Ianthe
Our current setup is that we have two targets, Staging and Live. Collaborators may update the affected component while it is still within the workflow. A final activity is set to publish the related pages to Live. Is it possible to publish component updates (revisions e.g. 2.2, 2.5) to Staging from within the workflow? The TOM API documentation for Page.Publish() method does not seem to have an input parameter to fullfil such purpose.

  • authentication winform + asp

    - by user156144
I am building a desktop application that needs to update current user's status frequently. This status will be available as RSS feed. In order to do this, I think I can create a asp.net folder and secure it using form authentication. When the desktop application written as winform in c# needs to update status, it can set WebRequest.Credentials and upload data. Is there any better way of doing this? Thanks

  • If we don't like it for the presentation layer, then why do we tolerate it for the behavior layer?

    - by greim
Suppose CSS as we know it had never been invented, and the closest we could get was to do this: <script> // this is the page's stylesheet $(document).ready(function(){ $('.error').css({'color':'red'}); $('a[href]').css({'textDecoration':'none'}); ... }); </script> If this was how we were forced to write code, would we put up with it? Or would every developer on Earth scream at browser vendors until they standardized upon CSS, or at least some kind of declarative style language? Maybe CSS isn't perfect, but hopefully it's obvious how it's better than the find things, do stuff method shown above. So my question is this. We've seen and tasted of the glory of declarative binding with CSS, so why, when it comes to the behavioral/interactive layer, does the entire JavaScript community seem complacent about continuing to use the kludgy procedural method described above? Why for example is this considered by many to be the best possible way to do things: <script> $(document).ready(function(){ $('.widget').append("<a class='button' href='#'>...</div>"); $('a[href]').click(function(){...}); ... }); </script> Why isn't there a massive push to get XBL2.0 or .htc files or some kind of declarative behavior syntax implemented in a standard way across browsers? Is this recognized as a need by other web development professionals? Is there anything on the horizon for HTML5? (Caveats, disclaimers, etc: I realize that it's not a perfect world and that we're playing the hand we've been dealt. My point isn't to criticize the current way of doing things so much as to criticize the complacency that exists about the current way of doing things. Secondly, event delegation, especially at the root level, is a step closer to having a declarative behavior layer. It solves a subset of the problem, but it can't create UI elements, so the overall problem remains.)

  • Unexpected tag T_ECHO in inline if

    - by Lombo
I have something like this in one of my views <li <?php $isCurrent ? echo 'class="current"' : ''?> > <a href="SOME_LINK" class="SOME_CLASS">SOME_TEXT</a> </li> This causes a syntax error, unexpected T_ECHO. Changing echo for print solves the issue, but I would like to understand why I cannot use echo.

  • Using a single xcode proj for iphone and ipad- can I use same push notification certificate ?

    - by Shweta
Hi I am looking for extending my current iphone app for iPad-specific UI. For the same Apple has mentioned 3 ways, however I am using the method where a Single XCODE proj is used for having 2 targets- iphone & iPad. There are a few queries: two binaries will be created , which I can price differently for selling. Will they need 2 have different certificates from Apple ? My app has Push notifications. So will i require 2 different certificates ?

  • django redirect url containing id

    - by dana
hello, i want to add in my settings.py a declaration like: LOGIN_REDIRECT_URL='^private_profile/(?P<id>\d+)/$' #or LOGIN_REDIRECT_URL='/accounts/private_profile/id/' so that when the user with the id 1, for example,is logging in, he will be redirected to LOGIN_REDIRECT_URL='/accounts/private_profile/1/' but both alternatives, LOGIN_REDIRECT_URL='^private_profile/(?P<id>\d+)/$' #or LOGIN_REDIRECT_URL='/accounts/private_profile/id/' are wrong, because in my browser i don't see the current user id, where am i wrong? Thanks

  • C# - Extract Zip with file listing

    - by fonix232
I would like to extract a pre-set zip file WITHOUT an external library to a given folder, and I would like to inform the user about the current percent of extraction (with a simple progressBar and a percent label) and the currently extracted file. Is this possible somehow? It is important to do not use any other library. (For updating all the labels and progressBar, I use a separate backgroundWorker)
