  • Add constant value to numeric XML attribute

    - by Dave Jarvis
Background Add a constant value to numbers matched with a regular expression, using vim (gvim). Problem The following regular expression will match width="32": /width="\([0-9]\{2\}\)" Question How do you replace the numeric value of the width attribute with the results from a mathematical expression that uses the attribute's value? For example, I would like to perform the following global replacement: :%s/width="\([0-9]\{2\}\)"/width="\1+10"/g That would produce width="42" for width="32" and width="105" for width="95". Thank you!

  • outbound ftp on server 2008 r2 stalls

    - by Scott Kramer
the built in command line ftp client in server 2008 does not support passive mode so I've used these commands to allow outbound ftp (it stalls without this) 1) Open port 21 on the firewall netsh advfirewall firewall add rule name="FTP (no SSL)" action=allow protocol=TCP dir=in localport=21 2) Activate firewall application filter for FTP (aka Stateful FTP) that will dynamically open ports for data connections netsh advfirewall set global StatefulFtp enable however in server 2008 r2, these commands seem to work, but it does not affect the outbound ftp, it stalls I do not want to use an alt client

  • dnsmasq local network works for some but hostnames are not resolving for others

    - by prggmr
I have set up a local network and it seems that some of us can use it properly while others can't. The problem seems to be that the local hostnames I setup don't get resolved for everyone. To overview how the network is setup: I am running an Ubuntu 10.01 server using dnsmasq, this server is setup to act as our primary DNS server, configured via our router. dnsmasq is configured using the options of domain-needed bogus-priv I use the /etc/hosts file to determain the hostnames 192.168.1.10 ra.xsi 192.168.1.10 test.xsi From my machine: If I dig the hostnames they resolve properly ; <<>> DiG 9.4.3-P1 <<>> ra.xsi ;; global options: printcmd ;; Got answer: ;; ->>HEADER<<- opcode: QUERY, status: NOERROR, id: 61671 ;; flags: qr aa rd ra; QUERY: 1, ANSWER: 1, AUTHORITY: 0, ADDITIONAL: 0 ;; QUESTION SECTION: ;ra.xsi. • Is it safe to run Postfix w/o securing it?

    - by Miko
Does postfix need to be secured before it's safe to run it on a production server? I rely on Monit to notify me if certain processes are down or in trouble. For this purpose and this purpose only, I need postfix on the server so that Monit can send me email notifications. If it's necessary to secure Postfix before deploying it, what are some steps I can take to make it safer?

  • Service tag urls

    - by Joshua
I like to keep links to my various laptop support pages in my wiki. Dell makes it easy if you know the service tag. http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/my_systems_info/details?ServiceTag={Your Service Tag} Are there any equivalent urls for HP, IBM, etc where you can just plug in your service tag equivalent and get a page with links to drivers and what not.

  • Autoscaling EC2 with NFS mounts

    - by Jamie Taylor
I'm trying to set up a shared filesystem on EC2 and I've read tutorials such as this: http://blog.ronaldmccollam.com/2012/07/configuring-nfs-on-ubuntu-in-amazon-ec2.html In step 2 it talks about configuring the exports, for this I need an IP range but when I'm auto-scaling I can't predict what the IP will be before it scales. Is there any other way of doing this while still staying secure? Thanks Edit: Just tried s3fs, didn't seem to work properly

  • Windows 64bit Sandboxing software alternatives

    - by Pacifika
As you might know sandboxing software doesn't work in 64bit Windows due to patchguard. What are the alternatives for a person looking to test untrusted / temporary software? Edit: @Nick I'd prefer an alternative to VMs as I'm not happy with the extended startup time, the extra login sequences and the memory overhead that accompanies booting a VM solution to test something out ocassionally as a home user. Also it's another system that needs to be kept secure and up to date.

  • SQL Server Full Text Search resource consumption

    - by Sam Saffron
When SQL Server builds a fulltext index computer resources are consumed (IO/Memory/CPU) Similarly when you perform full text searches, resources are consumed. How can I get a gauge over a 24 hour period of the exact amount of CPU and IO(reads/writes) that fulltext is responsible for, in relation to global SQL Server resource usage. Are there any perfmon counters, DMVs or profiler traces I can use to help answer this question?

  • Making Puppet manifests/modules available to a wide audience

    - by Kyle Smith
Our team rolled puppet out to our systems over the last six months. We're managing all sorts of resources, and some of them have sensitive data (database passwords for automated backups, license keys for proprietary software, etc.). Other teams want to get involved in the development of (or at least be able to see) our modules and manifests. What have other people done to continue to have secure data moving through Puppet, while sharing the modules and manifests with a larger audience?

Please, give me a more detailed answer if possible, thanks you.

  • Where are AD registry settings

    - by erdogany
As you might already know AD does not let you change the password through LDAP if you don't have a secure connection to AD. I heard that there is a registry setting to change this behavior but so far couldn't find where it is... Anyone of you know how can I can change this behavior?

  • ASA5505 Novice. Setting up Outside/Inside/and DMZ as Guest Network

    - by GriffJ
I need a little help in developing a config for our ASA5505. I'm an MCSA/MCITPAS but I don't have a lot of practical cisco experience. Here is what I need help with, we currently have a PIX as our boarder gateway and well it's antiquated and it only has a 50 user license which means I'm constantly clearing local-host throughout the day as people complain. I discovered that the last IT person bought at couple ASA5505s and they've been sitting in the back of a cupboard. So far I've duplicated the configuration from the pix to the asa but as I was going to be going this far I thought I'd go further and remove another old cisco router that was used only for the guest network, I know the asa can do both jobs. So I'm going to paste a scenario I wrote up with the actual IPs changed to protect the innocent. ... Outside Network: 1.2.3.10 255.255.255.248 (we have a /29) Inside Network: 10.10.36.0 255.255.252.0 DMZ Network: 192.168.15.0 255.255.255.0 Outside Network on e0/0 DMZ Network on e0/1 Inside Network on e0/2-7 DMZ Network has DHCPD Enabled. DMZ DHCPD Pool is 192.168.15.50-192.168.15.250 DMZ Network needs to be able to see DNS on Inside Network at 10.10.37.11 and 10.10.37.12 DMZ Network needs to be able to access webmail on inside network at 10.10.37.15 DMZ Network needs to be able to access business website on inside network at 10.10.37.17 DMZ Network needs to be able to access the outside network (access to the internet). Inside Network has NO DHCPD. (dhcp is handled by domain controller) Inside Network needs to be able to see anything on the DMZ network. Inside Network needs to be able to access the outside network (access to the internet). There is some access-list stuff already, some static mapping already. Maps external IPs from our ISP to our inside server IPs static (inside, outside) 1.2.3.11 10.10.37.15 netmask 255.255.255.255 static (inside, outside) 1.2.3.12 10.10.37.17 netmask 255.255.255.255 static (inside, outside) 1.2.3.13 10.10.37.20 netmask 255.255.255.255 Allows access to our Webserver/Mailserver/VPN from the Outside. access-list 108 permit tcp any host 1.2.3.11 eq https access-list 108 permit tcp any host 1.2.3.11 eq smtp access-list 108 permit tcp any host 1.2.3.11 eq 993 access-list 108 permit tcp any host 1.2.3.11 eq 465 access-list 108 permit tcp any host 1.2.3.12 eq www access-list 108 permit tcp any host 1.2.3.12 eq https access-list 108 permit tcp any host 1.2.3.13 eq pptp Here is all the NAT and route stuff I have so far. global (outside) 1 interface global (outside) 2 1.2.3.11-1.2.3.14 netmask 255.255.255.248 nat (inside) 1 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 nat (dmz) 1 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 route outside 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 1.2.3.9 1

  • Exchange 2003 mailbox migrated to 2010 not showing up in Address book

    - by TJ
I have migrated about 45 mailboxes at this point from our single instance of Exchange 2003 to a High Availability Exchange 2010 environment successfully. However one mailbox moved successfully and the user is able to send and receive e-mail internally and externally with no problems but they do not show up in the Global Address List. The OAB is owned by an Exchange 2010 mailbox server. What am I missing?

  • New-ManagedContentSettings - not working properly under Exchange 2010

    - by mfinni
I have a client that is divesting a business unit into a new AD forest, Exchange org, etc. We're using Quest tools to migrate users and mailboxes. However, I have to build the new infrastructure to match the old one. In the old one, we're using Managed Folder Mailbox Policies to limit (or allow) retention. They started with Exchange 2007 and never upgraded to Retention Policies; oh well. So, in the old environment, when you use a 2007 server to define a new Managed Content Setting, you can pick "Email" from the dropdown for MessageClass. This is a display name; the actual MessageClass values are thus: MessageClass : IPM.Note;IPM.Note.AS/400 Move Notification Form v1.0;IPM.Note.Delayed;IPM.Note.Exchange.ActiveSync.Report;IPM.Note.JournalReport.Msg;IPM.Note.JournalReport.Tnef;IPM.Note.Microsoft.Missed.Voice;IPM.Note.Rules.OofTemplate.Microsoft;IPM.Note.Rules.ReplyTemplate.Microsoft;IPM.Note.Secure.Sign;IPM.Note.SMIME;IPM.Note.SMIME.MultipartSigned;IPM.Note.StorageQuotaWarning;IPM.Note.StorageQuotaWarning.Warning;IPM.Notification.Meeting.Forward;IPM.Outlook.Recall;IPM.Recall.Report.Success;IPM.Schedule.Meeting.*;REPORT.IPM.Note.NDR If I take that and try to mangle it into a new cmdlet for Ex2010 in my new environment here's what I get New-ManagedContentSettings -Name "Delete Messages older then 90 days" -FolderName "Entire Mailbox" -RetentionEnabled $True -AgeLimitForRetention 90 -TriggerForRetention WhenDelivered -RetentionAction DeleteAndAllowRecovery -MessageClass "IPM.Note","IPM.Note.AS/400MoveNotificationFormv1.0","IPM.Note.Delayed","IPM.Note.Exchange.ActiveSync.Report","IPM.Note.JournalReport.Msg","IPM.Note.JournalReport.Tnef","IPM.Note.Microsoft.Missed.Voice","IPM.Note.Rules.OofTemplate.Microsoft","IPM.Note.Rules.ReplyTemplate.Microsoft","IPM.Note.Secure.Sign","IPM.Note.SMIME","IPM.Note.SMIME.MultipartSigned","IPM.Note.StorageQuotaWarning","IPM.Note.StorageQuotaWarning.Warning","IPM.Notification.Meeting.Forward","IPM.Outlook.Recall","IPM.Recall.Report.Success","IPM.Schedule.Meeting.*","REPORT.IPM.Note.NDR" -whatif Invoke-Command : Cannot bind parameter 'MessageClass' to the target. Exception setting "MessageClass": "The length of t he property is too long. The maximum length is 255 and the length of the value provided is 518." At C:\Users\MFinnigan.sa\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Exchange\RemotePowerShell\pfexcas02.fve.ad.5ssl.com\pfexcas02.fve.ad .5ssl.com.psm1:28204 char:29 + $scriptCmd = { & <<<< $script:InvokeCommand ` + CategoryInfo : WriteError: (:) [New-ManagedContentSettings], ParameterBindingException + FullyQualifiedErrorId : ParameterBindingFailed,Microsoft.Exchange.Management.SystemConfigurationTasks.NewManaged ContentSettings So, the config object can store all that mess, but I can't fit it in through the cmdlet to create the object. Lovely. Any ideas?

  • Laptop Backup Synch to the Data Center Without VPN

    - by Sameer
We would like to synchronize our users or backup their laptops to the data center – looking for suggestions/alternatives to synch them to the data center where they don’t have to know about it. Blue sky like to haves: • Don’t want VPN but needs to secure • Admin can access all files • Global dedup • Select file types only – MS Office, PSTs, PDFs • Incremental change only • Right now 60 users but needs to scale (all Windows7 64 bit) • Can allocate budget if have to Don’t mean to be vague but hoping to get some proven places to start.
