  • Hide Soft Keyboard Not Working ...

    I'm developing on the Droid Incredible (and have tested on a 1.5 AVD Emulator as well), and one of the tabs in my tab widget consists of a listview and a row with an EditText and a Send button (for a chat feature). I am using the following to close the soft keyboard once I click Send, but it's not working. This is identical to code I've found elsewhere that people have upvoted as correct. See anything I'm missing? // in Button's onClick(): EditText chatTextBox = (EditText) findViewById(R.id.chat_entry); // Handle button click ... chatTextBox.setText(""); InputMethodManager imm = (InputMethodManager)getSystemService(Context.INPUT_METHOD_SERVICE); imm.hideSoftInputFromInputMethod(chatTextBox.getWindowToken(), InputMethodManager.HIDE_IMPLICIT_ONLY); I also tried changing the flag to 0. No luck. Anyone know what's up??

  • Cursor while loop returning every value but the last

    Hello, I am using a while loop to iterate through a cursor and then outputing the longitude and latitude values of every point within the database. For some reason it is not returning the last (or first depending on if I use Cursor.MoveToLast) set of longitude and latitude values in the cursor.   • Displaying thumbnails of images (present at different locations in the sdcard) in a listview

    Hi all, I have several images present in different folders in my sdcard. I would like to display a list of thumbnails. So what I have done is while rendering any row in the list I read the file in an input stream, get the byte array, decode it to obtain a bitmap and set it in an imageview. So far so good. But when I scroll the list, the list scrolls in jerks. I believe this is because decoding a bitmap from byte array takes some time. What I would like to know is that, is there any optimization which I can do to improve the performance, or better still is there any better method to achieve what I want ?

  • Why do my Sax Parser produce no results after using InputStream Read?

    Hello, I have this piece of code which I'm hoping will be able to tell me how much data I have downloaded (and soon put it in a progress bar), and then parse the results through my Sax Parser. If I comment out basically everything above the //xr.parse(new InputSource(request.getInputStream())); line and swap the xr.parse's over, it works fine. But at the moment, my Sax parser tells me I have nothing. Is it something to do with is.read (buffer) section? Now my problem is that I wanted to move both of them(Scrollview and list) together and with proper synchronization...     I want to be able to use jwplayer so that when the user clicks on the video the video will start to play in fullscreen mode. I want this functionality to work on mobile devices that support html5. If the video is played on a mobile device it will take up the whole screen. Youtube and Vimeo currently do this on mobile devices. The Link Below uses Html5 video tag, which plays in fullscreen on mobile device when the video is clicked on. The only way I that I know that jwplayer allows fullscreen is that I manually click on the fullscreen button, but it would be nice to only click on the video to trigger the video to play in full screen.

    Iam trying to get a location (latitute and longitude), I cant figure out what Im doing wrong but my location keeps returning null.     I have a weird situation with AlarmManager. I am scheduling an event with AlarmManager and passing in a string using intent.putExtra. The string is either silent or vibrate and when the receiver fires the phone should either turn of the ringer or set the phone to vibrate. The log statement correctly outputs the expected value each time. Intent intent; if (eventType.equals("start")) { intent = new Intent(context, SReceiver.class); } else { intent = new Intent(context, EReceiver.class); } intent.setAction(eventType+Long.toString(newId)); Log.v("EditQT",ringerModeType.toUpperCase()); intent.putExtra("ringerModeType", ringerModeType.toUpperCase()); PendingIntent appIntent = PendingIntent.getBroadcast(context, 0, intent, 0); AlarmManager alarmManager = (AlarmManager) getSystemService (Context.ALARM_SERVICE); alarmManager.set(AlarmManager.RTC_WAKEUP, calendar.getTimeInMillis(), appIntent); The receiver that fires when the alarm executes also has a log statement and I can see the first time around that the statement outputs the expected string either SILENT or VIBRATE. The alarm executes and then I change the value for putExtra to opposite string and the receiver still displays the previous value event though the call from the code above shows that the new value was passed in.   • Wifi and 3G same time

    For my App I need Data from both, a local Network and the Internet. The local Network (Wifi) has no connection to the internet so I have to use the mobile connection (3G for Example). But whenever I connect to the local Network, 3G stopps. After asking the Samsung Service, there is no way to change that in the UI. But they couldn't tell me, if there is a programmable Interface for that. There is a mobile access point inside, so there is a way to connect a Wifi device to the Internet (which means that both, a wifi and a 3G connection is possible the same time in that way). But for my App the phone/tab has to connect to the existing Network and use the 3G for Internet. So this is my question here. Is there a way to connect to an existing Network and using 3G for Internet the same time?

  • TabWidget white foreground color?

    I don't know what I did but for a period of time my TabWidget had white colored tabs which looked really nice. I never set a theme or background/foreground color in my project at all. The next time I compiled it it reverted back to the gray tabs. My application is using the default dark theme. Even if I set the application theme to light, the tabs are still gray. So obviously it was something else that changed the tabs' color. Anyone know how to do this?

    Hi, I want to make a apps that check what's the nearest place from where the user is. I can easily get the location of the user and I have a list of places with latitude and longitude. What would be the best way to know the nearest place of the list against the current position. I could not find anything in the google APIs.     All I need to do is download some basic text-based and image files from a web server that has a self-signed SSL certificate. I have been trying to figure out how to use HttpClient to do this, but getting the SSL to work is a nightmare that seems to be way too much trouble for such a simple task. Is there a better way to perform these file downloads? Perhaps through a WebView or Browser feature? Reinventing the wheel of making a simple HTTPS GET request is a major pain, and is significantly holding up my development schedule.

    I'm trying to draw Arabic text onto a Bitmap for display: Bitmap img = Bitmap.createBitmap( (int) f+100, 300, Config.RGB_565); Canvas c = new Canvas(); c.setBitmap( img ); mFace = Typeface.createFromAsset(getAssets(),"DejaVuSansCondensed.ttf"); mPaint.setTypeface(mFace); content = "????"; content = ArabicUtilities.reshape( content ); System.out.println("Drawing text: " + content); c.drawText(content, 30, 30, mPaint); The ArabicUtilities class is a tool to reshape the unicode text so the letters are connected. see: http://github.com/agawish/Better-Arabic-Reshaper/ However, the bitmap that is generated looks like this: When it should look like ???? I believe the issue is because, unlike a TextView, the Bitmap class is not BiDi aware, so it draws the letters from left to write. Try as I might, I can't figure out how to draw the text in the correct order.

  • CheckBox checked state in a ListView

    I'm using a ListView with CheckBox, but as most of you know, when you roll down the scroll, a checked CheckBox gets unchecked as you roll up back the scroll. So i've been reading and i found out that you can pass (using getView) the id of the CB to the position parameter of getView to save the CheckBox state! But i can't use getView with SimpleCursorAdapter, can i? Because i'm using bindView! Thanks
