  • How to find out the installation path to my browser?

    - by rumtscho
I am installing a proprietary CAD application (MEDUSA4 personal) and the installer wants to know the path to my web browser (as a prerequisite for online help). I have the default firefox installation and chromium, but I don't know the installation path for any of them, and couldn't find them among the usual suspects (/usr/bin, /usr/lib). It would be nice if you could tell me the path to one of them, and even nicer if you can tell me how to find out the installation path to any package managed by apt.

  • Allow a web designer to modify DNS without letting them transfer the domain?

    - by PhilCK
We are in the process of having a web designer create a new website for us, but I don't want to give access to the control panel for the domain names (and have no way to limit it, it seems), while at the same time I don't want to be the go between guy for editing the settings. Is there a way or a service for me to point the domains at a 3rd party DNS system, that I can then give access for the web designer, without worrying that he can find my personal info or try and transfer my domain out?

  • Getting my stuff organised

    - by NeilHambly
I start off by saying, "I'm not that organised" @ times and things just don't get done even If I want them too So having missed some of my own personal targets so far this year already, I thought I needed some better way to achieve on those targets and one of these is to be a "little" more organised with my spare time, so I have decided that I will "try out" the following to see if it helps For 3 weeks each month I will follow this routine (my evenings after...(read more)

  • I've had some free time at work during maintenance releases, but all I do is surf the Internet.

    - by hal10001
I'm really having trouble with this, since it is the perfect opportunity to learn something new, begin a personal project... essentially do just about anything, but all I do is surf the Internet. I find that I don't want to look at anything programming related, and I'm seriously wondering if I'm letting boredom get the best of me, I'm depressed, or experiencing burnout? Any suggestions for how to go about taking back this unproductive time would be greatly appreciated.

  • Where do I publish a program?

    - by Sean
I have finished designing a little application for Pandora and I am not sure how I can get it out and share it with everyone. What should I do to help advertise it to the public and let other people use it? As of right now it is free, and I hope to keep it that way, so I don't want to spend any money to give it out. I had actually designed this application just for personal use, but hey, why should I be the only one to use it?

  • A marketing view of SQLBits

    - by simonsabin
One of the most enjoyable things about SQLBits is reading all the blog posts/reviews after the event. We are normally fortunate enough not to have pissed anyone off and so the posts are generally positive. Most pieces are from attendees however this piece is from a wife of a sponsor http://iknowmarketing.wordpress.com/2012/04/02/events-community-vs-commercial/ . Its a nice piece for us as it highlights how we work and that how we focus on making the event personal for all those involved. We deal...(read more)

  • Why can't a device connect through a wireless after router restart?

    - by Kalmar
My laptop with lubuntu 12.04 used to connect to the wifi. But after the router (Cisco E4200) was restarted I cannot connect anymore through wireless connection. (No problem using a cable.) The network is hidden and secured by WPA/WPA2 Personal, I am the only person having this problem, so I guess it's somewhere on my side. What could cause such a problem, how to diagnose it and finally how to fix it?

  • How to store multiple requirements with OR and AND?

    - by Cano
Well I'm working on a personal project that needs to check if a user has met certain requirements, and they come in a form of Requirement: [c1 OR c2] AND [d1 OR d2] Requirement: [c1 AND c2] OR [d1 AND d2] Requirement: c1 AND any dn(n can be any integer) I'm just not sure how to store these sorts of requirements, I'm thinking of using another object to hold c1,c2,d1,d2....dn and OR, but that seems like a roundabout way of doing things. Is there a better method?
