• logparser not matching on a LIKE pattern

  Hi I seem to have the strangest problem. I am using logparser to search an event log for some text that I know is there (i copied and pasted the string from the event into the sql search string). But the sql LIKE statement is returning a empty results. But other LIKE statments seem to be working file. • Decoding AAC using MediaCodec API on Android

  I'm trying to used the MediaCodec API on Android to decode an AAC stream. (It's raw AAC.) I tried using the MediaFormat.createAudioFormat() to create the format object to pass to MediaCodec.configure(), but I kept getting errors when using AAC (audio/mp4a-latm). (It works with MP3 (audio/mpeg) though...) Finally I created a MediaExtractor for an AAC file and looked at the format object it was producing. I saw that it included the key "csd-0" for a ByteBuffer composed of two bytes both with the value 0x12. If I include that key and value in the format object that I used to configure the AAC codec, everything works. Does anyone have an idea what is going on? The documentation states that I shouldn't configure that key. Does anyone have a pointer to MediaCodec examples to decode AAC files without using MediaExtractor to generate the format object?

• WPF: Asynchronous progress bar

  I'm trying to create a progress bar that will work asynchronously to the main process. I'm created a new event and invoked it however everytime I then try to perform operations on the progress bar I recieve the following error: "The calling thread cannot access this object because a different thread owns it" The following code is an attempt to send an instance of the progress bar to the event as an object, it obviously failed but it gives you an idea of what the code looks like. private event EventHandler importing; void MdbDataImport_importing(object sender, EventArgs e) { ProgressBar pb = (ProgressBar)sender; while (true) { if (pb.Value >= 200) pb.Value = 0; pb.Value += 10; } } private void btnImport_Click(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e) { importing += new EventHandler(MdbDataImport_importing); IAsyncResult aResult = null; aResult = importing.BeginInvoke(pbDataImport, null, null, null); importing.EndInvoke(aResult); } Does anyone have ideas of how to do this. • new ActiveXObject('Word.Application') creates new winword.exe process when IE security does not allo

  We are using MS Word as a spell checker for a few fields on a private company web site, and when IE security settings are correct it works well. (Zone for the site set to Trusted, and trusted zone modified to allow control to run without prompting.) The script we are using creates a word object and closes it afterward. While the object exists, a winword.exe process runs, but it is destroyed when the word object is closed. If our site is not set in the trusted zone (Internet zone with default security level) the call that creates the word object fails as expected, but the winword.exe process is still created. I do not have any way to interact with this process in the script, so the process stays around until the user logs off (users have no way to manually destroy the process, and it wouldn't be a good solution even if they did.) The call that attempts to create the object is... try { oWordApplication = new ActiveXObject('Word.Application'); } catch(error) { // irrelevant code removed, described in comments.. // notify user spell check cannot be used // disable spell check option } So every time the page is loaded this code may be run again, creating yet another orphan winword.exe process. oWordApplication is, of course, undefined in the catch block. I would like to be able to detect the browser security settings beforehand, but I have done some searching on this and do not think that it is possible. Management here is happy with it as it is. As long as IE security is set correctly it works, and it works well for our purposes. (We may eventually look at other options for spell check functionality, but this was quick, inexpensive, and does everything we need it to do.) This last problem bugs me and I'd like to do something about it, but I'm out of ideas and I have other things that are more in need of my attention. Before I put it aside, I thought I'd ask for suggestions here...

  Hi.. I've experienced something today while I'm building my app. I've added a protocol in my object and assign delegate object on it. I added the protocol on the object that will implement the protocol's method. I've added it in this way as usual @interface MyObject : UIViewController <NameOfDelegate> But the Xcode says that my the protocol declaration cannot be found. I've check my code but I've declared this protocol. I've try to assign MyObject as delegate of other Object. I've edit my code like this @interface MyObject : UIViewController <UITableViewDelegate,NameOfDelegate> but Xcode say again that it cannot found declaration of protocol of NameOfDelegate. I've tried to delete the NameOfDelegate on my code and add assign MyObject as delegate of other object and it goes like this. @interface MyObject : UIViewController <UITableViewDelegate,UITabBarDelegate> No errors have been found. Then I've tried again to add again my NameOfDelegate in the code @interface MyObject : UIViewController <UITableViewDelegate,UITabBarDelegate,NameOfDelegate> At that time Xcode did not find any error on my code. So I tried again to remove the UITableViewDelegate and UITabBarDelegate on my code. @interface MyObject : UIViewController <NameOfDelegate> At that time No error had found but that was the same code I've write before.   I am trying to write some code that will allow me to dynamically load DLLs into my application, depending on an application setting. The idea is that the database to be accessed is set in the application settings and then this loads the appropriate DLL and assigns it to an instance of an interface for my application to access.   Hello. I'm building ASP.NET MVC2 application, and using Entity Framework as ORM. I am having troubles updating object in the database. Every time I try entity.SaveChanges(), EF inserts new line in the table, regardless of do I want update, or insert to be done. I tried attaching (like in this next example) object to entity, but then I got {"An object with a null EntityKey value cannot be attached to an object context."} Here's my simple function for inserts and updates (it's not really about vehicles, but it's simpler to explain like this, although I don't think that this effects answers at all)... public static void InsertOrUpdateCar(this Vehicles entity, Cars car) { if (car.Id == 0 || car.Id == null) { entity.Cars.AddObject(car); } else { entity.Attach(car); } entitet.SaveChanges(); } I even tried using AttachTo("Cars", car), but I got the same exception. • Uploadify Not Working

  Hello, I'll re-edit this to tackle the uploadify issue. Its very strange, essentially the script isn't uploading and isn't triggering onAllComplete. Also if I try to upload an image that's to large, and click Upload files, it skips from 0 to 100%. But does not trigger onAllComplete. It does not upload either. Whats strange, is I have an earlier revision of this and the codes no different and it works, ive tried switched back to the same jquery/uploadify/layout and it still doesnt work. However due to the nature of uploadify not being very forthcoming about errors or whats going on, I can't figure out where its going wrong! • Perl Scripts Seem to be Caching?

  I'm running a perl script via mod_perl with Apache. I am trying to parse parameters in a restful fashion (aka GET www.domain.com/rest.pl/Object/ID). If I specify the ID like this: GET www.domain.com/rest.pl/Object/1234 I will get object 1234 back as a result as expected. However, if I specify an incorrect hacked url like this GET www.domain.com/rest.pl/Object/123 I will also get back object 1234. I am pretty sure that the issue in this question is happening so I packaged up my method and invoked it from my core script out of the package. Even after that I am still seeing the threads returning seemingly cached data. One of the recommendations in the aforementioned article is to replace my with our. My impression from reading up on our vs my was that our is global and my is local. My assumption is the the local variable gets reinitialized each time. That said, like in my code example below I am resetting the variables each time with new values. It works except for just one problem that when I select or press one list item, it seems that the selected item overlap the next one a little bit as I can see some pixels of the green background image is on the top of next item. • Stop lazy loading or skip loading a property in NHibernate? Proxy cannot be serialized through WCF

  Consider I have a parent, child relationship class and mapping. I am using NHibernate to read the object from the database, and intended to use WCF to send the object across the wire. Goal For reading the parent object, I want to selectively, at different execution path, decide when I would want to load the child object. Because I don't want to read more than what I needed. Those partially loaded object must be able to sent through WCF. When I mean I don't load it, neither side will access such property. Problem When such partially loaded object is being sent through WCF, as those property is marked as [DataContract], it cannot be serialized as the property is lazy load proxy instead of real known type. What I want to archive, or solution that I can think of lazy=false or lazy=true doesn't work. Former will eagerly fetch all the relationships, latter will create a proxy. But I want nothing instead - a null would be the best. I don't need lazy load. I hope to get a null for those references that I don't want to fetch. A null, but not just a proxy. This will makes WCF happy, and waste less time to have a lazy-load proxy constructed. Like could I have a null proxy factory? -OR- Or making WCF ignoring those property that's a proxy instead of real. I tried the IDataContractSurrogate solution, but only parent is passed to GetObjectToSerialize, I never observe an proxy being passed through GetObjectToSerialize, leaving no chance to un-proxy it. Edit After reading the comments, more surfing on the Internet... It seems to me that DTO would shift major part of the computation to the server side. But for the project I am working on, 50% of time the client is "smarter" than the server and the server is more like a data store with validation and verification. Though I agree the server is not exactly dumb - I have to decide when to fetch the extra references already, and DTO will make this very explicit. Maybe I should just take the pain. I didn't know http://automapper.codeplex.com/ before, this motivates me a little more to take the pain. On the other hand, I found http://trentacular.com/2009/08/how-to-use-nhibernate-lazy-initializing-proxies-with-web-services-or-wcf/, which seems to be working with IDataContractSurrogate.GetObjectToSerialize.

  Does anyone know how best to determine the specific underlying cause of this exception? Consider a WCF service that is supposed to use Powershell 2.0 remoting to execute MSBuild on remote machines. In both cases the scripting environments are being called in-process (via C# for Powershell and via Powershell for MSBuild), rather than 'shelling-out' - this was a specific design decision to avoid command-line hell as well as to enable passing actual objects into the Powershell script. • DataForm commit button is not enabled when data changed.

  This is a weird problem. I am using a dataform, and when I edit the data the save button is enabled, but the cancel button is not. After looking around a bit I have found that I have to implement the IEditableObject in order to cancel an edit. Great I did that (and it all works), but now the commit button (Save) is grayed out, lol. Anyone have any idea's why the commit button will not activate any more?
