• Detect similar sounding words in Ruby

  I'm aware of SOUNDEX and (double) Metaphone, but these don't let me test for the similarity of words as a whole - for example "Hi" sounds very similar to "Bye", but both of these methods will mark them as completely different. Are there any libraries in Ruby, or any methods you know of, that are capable of determining the similarity between two words? (Either a boolean is/isn't similar, or numerical 40% similar) edit: Extra bonus points if there is an easy method to 'drop in' a different dialect or language!

• IE10 does not open .pdf

  I can't open any PDFs in IE10 on Win7 64bit. I've tested with PDFs from Intranet / Internet / local file system, http and https. I've tested installing/uninstalling Acrobat Reader 11.0.03 and the Nitro PDF Reader. I've also tried enabling/disabling the Tools Internet Options Advanced Security Do not save encrypted pages to disk option. In Google Chrome PDFs are opened in the Acrobat Reader Plugin, but in IE10 the only thing I always get is a small cross in the top left corner of the browser. Can anybody help me?

  I have Solaris machine with IP 10.10.10.100 and default getway 10.10.10.1 and subnet 255.255.255.0 remark - solaris machine connected to cisco switch via cross cable and from switch to my laptop I configure my laptop to connect to my Solaris machine so my laptop IP is 10.10.10.1 and subnet 255.255.255.0 but something not clearly I have ssh connection from my laptop to my Solaris machine ( I mean I in my solaris machine ) but from Solaris machine I can do ping to 10.10.10.1 ? ( how it can be ??? ) please advice why?

  I have a problem using a Resources.resx - Resources.de.resx - combination in a C#/WPF project. The whole solutions contains several projects and some projects contains resource files. When starting the main project I can switch the language successfully from english to german. But the GUI elements from the sub projects still show the english text. I have the ff. test code: javax.swing.JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(null, "Hello, world!"); Running it with or without, say, -Duser.language=zh and -Duser.country=TW makes no difference. I.e., the OK button is still labeled "OK". In Windows, for example, it is replaced with the Traditional Chinese equivalent.
