• MSAccess Change Date Value Before Validation

  In a grid I have a date/time field where I would like the user to be able to type in short-hand formats for dates and times. For example, if they type in "435p" and then focus off of the cell they get the message "The value you entered isn't valid for this field.". Instead, I want to trap a pre-validationevent and change it to "4:35pm" for them. What event can I use? I've tried: LostFocus & BeforeUpdate: too late (validation fires before event) Dirty & OnChange: too early (they haven't left the cell yet) Or is there a way to turn off the native validation rule that is checking for date formats?

• Sorting issues in flexigrid with "json" data

  I'm currently using flexigrid to display data in a current project, but am running into issues with its ability to properly sort certain columns that contain dates or numbers. The data is being sent from a ColdFusion CFC that selects the appropriate data and then delivers it in the proper "json" format. As the date/time stamps and other fields containing numbers are sent as "strings" they do not sort properly in the data grid. Is this a limitation of Flexigrid or am I sending the data improperly to Flexigrid? I can provide examples of my code if that is helpful.

  Want to develop a system accurately counting people that go through a normal 1-2m wide door. and twitter whenever people goes in or out and tells how many people remain inside. Now, Twitter part is easy, but people counting is difficult. There is some semi existing counting solution, but they do not quite fit my needs. My idea/algorithm: Should I get some infra-red camera mounting on top of my door and constantly monitoring, and divide the camera image into several grid and calculating they entering and gone? can you give me some suggestion and starting point?

• How to translate the fields of a database model?

  I have some tables/models in a web app that will have multilingual content. For example a university, with it's description in a default language(english) and the user wants he can see the same information in another language( if the object has it's fields translated). If there were only a few languages then I would just add fields like name_en and name_de and so on, but the number of languages isn't fixed, so that' would create a mess. I could also just create a new object with the translated data but then foreign keys wouldn't work, and only some of the fields can be translated so that would create duplicate data. Storing the translations in a file and using gettext or something similar is also not an option since the objects fields can be translated by the website user, not only developers/admins. What would be the best way to design/architect such a database? Searching from the translated data should also be not too complex - as it should not require creating complex joins which would make the queries slower I'm using PostgreSQL and Ruby of Rails but I'm not looking for a technical solution but for a general idea how to design it.

  hi. I want to make a user interface in which the user can edit two objects at the same time. The main window would have a vertical split view and a form on each side of the view. The problem is that the two forms are identical and I don't want to duplicate the view components in the interface builder. I want to create the form one time and add a reference to it in each side of the split view, each one using a different object source. I could use a NSForm, but the form is not a simple grid of outputTexts and inputText. They have a master table, and diverse kinds of inputs types, like combos, in the detail. How do I create the reusable form using the interface builder? Or how can I do it programmatically? Do I have to create a subclass of NSView and add the individual components in the code? • jqGrid: Is it possible to commit a cell change when tabbing off instead of pressing Enter?

  I have a simple in-line edit in my grid, and I want to commit the change when the user tabs off the textbox. The default behavior of jqGrid forces the user to press 'Enter' to commit the change, but this is non-intuitive for our users. onSelectRow: function(id) { $(gridCoreGroups).editRow(id, true, undefined, function(response) { alert("hello world"); } } I've worked my way through the events provided, but they all happen as a result of the user pressing 'Enter', which I want to avoid.   My company has built a machine that measures wedge and roundness of lenses by reading and interacting with very precise indicators, motors, and a switch panel. The interface for the machine is a WPF application and it runs on Windows Vista on a normal PC bought from the store. I've never worked with Windows Embedded, but it sounds to me like it's intended for this type of system. My question is, what does it buy me? If I were to run this on Windows Embedded Enterprise (Vista) what benefits do I get? Do I get more control of the load, login, and all that? Can I make it more seamless where it doesn't really feel just like a normal application running full screen? Is it something I should look into more?

  I am working on a project where the game world is irregularly shaped (Think of the shape of a lake). this shape has a grid with coordinates placed over it. The game world is only on the inside of the shape. (Once again, think Lake) How can I efficiently represent the game world? I know that many worlds are basically square, and work well in a 2 or 3 dimension array. I feel like if I use an array that is square, then I am basically wasting space, and increasing the amount of time that I need to iterate through the array. However, I am not sure how a jagged array would work here either. So I would a method that makes it easy to do so.

• Silverlight debugging, no list element view

  When I'm debugging my Silverlight Appliction and I'm using a list internally I cannot hover over the list and see the items inside the list. I just see the RAW view of the list. If I want to see the items I have to write my own code which is tedious. Is this something normal to Silverlight? • jquery offset incorrect on floating elements

  I have a bunch of images each with the float: left property applied to them. They are constrained withing a 400px width area, forcing them into a grid of 4 X 4.   I understand that the title might not be descriptive enough, but I'm making a magic square game in Java and basically, I'm trying to replicate user input as found in the sudoku game here: http://www.websudoku.com/. What I have is a n x n grid of Buttons (not JButton) as the board and what I want the user to be able to do is when the user clicks on one of the buttons, similar to the game above, it allows the user to type in his guess in the button itself instead of popping up a dialog box with an input field of some sort. I don't know where to start, I am a beginner in Java (not very beginner, but my knowledge with the various Java APIs is very limited), so I'm trying to find out if this would be possible and if it is, how would I go about doing it? • Storing parameters from a graph and applying to other graphs

  I would like to store the xmin and xmax parameters from one geom_histogram and apply them to a second geom_histogram. I am putting both graphs on the same page using grid.arrange and would like them to have the same x range, while allowing the first graph to establish the range based on its data. The second graph is produced from a subset of the first graphs data, so it will not have data that falls outside of the x-range established by the first. But I don't want the range to shrink to fit the second graph.

  I have a 3D data set representing a grid of photosensors which unfortunately were not steady during use. I have estimated the pdf for the motion of the detector and I want to find the expectation value for each sensor. As I don't want to reflect my pdf (i.e. I want f(t) not f(t-tau)) I don't think I can use the matlab convolve function. Is there a function that will do what I want. I guess f I've found movavg but it seems to do something else. Also, as I'm faily new to matlab, from C, I tend to use for loops which I'm aware is not the way to use Matlab. Is there an easy way to convert my 1-D pdf to a 3D matrix that will only operate in one axis (z in this case). Something like repmat(i, j, pdf)

It is able to show newly created column with default value. But values are getting set for currently visible rows. To set value for all rows i have to do scrolling. So, how do i overcome this problem...

  I'm curious is it possible to change text properties of tick labels independently of axes properties. Do they have handles? I'd like to control their position better, alignment, color, fonts, etc. I know I can substitute them with text labels, but it has some drawbacks. Any alternative solutions?   I have a stupid question. I have created a workflow Designer host where I publish my own activities. I also have a property grid which only displays the properties decorated with a special attribute. This designer is going to be used by none IT staff. What I want is that on an activity the user can select a property value from a list. I know I just could create an Enum but I would like it to be dynamic. I.e. all events on a specific interface (extracted using reflection). Is this at all possible or am I stuck with enums?

How should I be storing my visited cells, So that I can access them from reverse order of when I placed them in. Like this? List<Location> visitedCells = new ArrayList<Location>(); Then do I grab with visitedCells.get(visitedCells.size()-1)? Location stores the x, y and z. Not something Im trying to ask you.

Here is xaml from my View and code from my ViewModel <Button Grid.Column="0" Content="Clear" IsEnabled="False" cmd:ButtonBaseExtensions.Command="{Binding ClearCommand}" /> public RelayCommand ClearCommand { get { return new RelayCommand(() => MessageBox.Show("Clear Command")); } } Notice I hardcoded the IsEnabled="False" in my xaml. This value is completely ignored (button always enabled). I realize that RelayCommand have a CanExecute overload but I did want to use this as I want to do more than just have a disabled button.
