  • Clicking the mouse down to drag objects on Mac

    - by Uri
    I've been using the following code to issue clicks programmatically on a Mac void PostMouseEvent(CGMouseButton button, CGEventType type, const CGPoint point) { CGEventRef theEvent = CGEventCreateMouseEvent(NULL, type, point, button); CGEventSetType(theEvent, type); CGEventPost(kCGHIDEventTap, theEvent); CFRelease(theEvent); } void Click(const CGPoint point) { PostMouseEvent(kCGMouseButtonLeft, kCGEventMouseMoved, point); NSLog(@"Click!"); PostMouseEvent(kCGMouseButtonLeft, kCGEventLeftMouseDown, point); PostMouseEvent(kCGMouseButtonLeft, kCGEventLeftMouseUp, point); } Now, I'm trying to click down to be able to drag objects, like a scroll bar or an application's window. I'm using the following: PostMouseEvent(kCGMouseButtonLeft, kCGEventMouseMoved, point); NSLog(@"Click Down!"); PostMouseEvent(kCGMouseButtonLeft, kCGEventLeftMouseDown, point); When i ran the code above something interesting will happen, when the left mouse down is issue nothing seem to happen, I move my mouse and the window doesn't move, however when I added a mouse up event then the window jumped to the location where I supposedly dragged it. this is sort of OK, however, how do I can make the mouse click down and drag an object? Note: I do have a whole method to see when the mouse stopped moving so I can click up. please post code. Thanks

  • Using variables for colors in table cells

    - by Mark Robinson
    Using the variables extension, I want to change the background color of a cell in a table. So far I've done this: {{#vardefine:green|<span style="background:Green; color:White">text</span>}} The problem is that, when I add {{#var:green}} to the cell, only the text itself has a green background. Ideally, I want the whole cell to have a background color, like it does if I use this: | bgcolor="#ff00ff" | test or this | style="background:silver" |silver in the cell. Does anyone know how to solve this?

  • Installation error: INSTALL_FAILED_OLDER_SDK in eclipse

    - by user3014909
    I have an unexpe`ted problem with my Android project. I have a real android device with ice_cream sandwich installed. My app was working fine during the development but after I added a class to the project, I got an error: Installation error: INSTALL_FAILED_OLDER_SDK The problem is that everything is good in the manifest file. The minSdkversion is 8. Here is my manifest file: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <manifest xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" package="zabolotnii.pavel.timer" android:versionCode="1" android:versionName="1.0" > <uses-sdk android:minSdkVersion="8" android:targetSdkVersion="18 " /> <application android:allowBackup="true" android:icon="@drawable/ic_launcher" android:label="@string/app_name" android:theme="@style/AppTheme" > <activity android:name="zabolotnii.pavel.timer.TimerActivity" android:label="@string/app_name" > <intent-filter> <action android:name="android.intent.action.MAIN" /> <category android:name="android.intent.category.LAUNCHER" /> </intent-filter> </activity> </application> </manifest> I don't know, if there is any need to attach the new class ,but I didn't any changes to other code that should led to this error: package zabolotnii.pavel.timer; • waiting for a signal

    - by Umesha MS
    Hi, I am working on an application which uploads the content of the file to server. To upload the file to server I am using ‘QNetworkAccessManager’ class. Since it works as asynchronous way, I changed it to work as synchronous way by using QEventLoop. Class FileTransfer { Public : QNetworkAccessManager mNetworkManager; Void Upload(QNetworkRequest request, QIODevice *data) { responce = mNetworkManager.put(request, data); EventLoop.exec(); ReadResponce(responce); } Void Stop() { responce ->close(); } } In my sample application I have 2 windows. 1st to select the files and 2nd to show the progress. When user click on upload button in the first window, the 2nd window will be displayed and then I create the FileTransfer object and start uploading. While uploading the file if user closes the form then in the destructor of the window I call the stop of ‘FileTransfer’ after that I delete the ‘FileTransfer’ object. But here the Upload() function is not yet completed so it will crash. Please help me to: How to wait in 'stop()' function until the Upload() function is completed

  • Call PHP Function in jQuery (var)

    - by l3gion
    Hello, I'm facing a small problem that I can't solve by myself. I have this php function: function intervalo_manha(){ $que="select id_intervalo,data_15 from intervalo_manha order by id_intervalo"; $re=mysql_query($que); $object.="<select>"; $object.="<option></option>"; while(list($id_intervalo, $data_15)=mysql_fetch_row($re)) { $object.= "<option value=\"".$id_intervalo."\">".$data_15."</option>"; } $object.="</select>"; return $object; } This function return a select with information from database. I also have this js function: $(document).ready(function() { var destTable = $("#dataTable"); $("#btnAdd").click(function() { var newRow = $("<tr style='margin-left:-60px'><td><INPUT type='checkbox' name='chk'/></td><td><INPUT type='text' name='txt[]' id='txt'/></td><td></td></tr>"); $("#dataTable").append(newRow); newRow.find('input').autocomplete("get_cols_name.php", { width: 260, matchContains: true, selectFirst: false }); }); }); This one will add a new row to my table, and for each new input will "activate" autocomplete. What I want to do is, instead of this: var newRow = $("<tr style='margin-left:-60px'><td><INPUT type='checkbox' name='chk'/></td><td><INPUT type='text' name='txt[]' id='txt'/></td><td></td></tr>"); I would like to have something like this: var newRow = $("<tr style='margin-left:-60px'><td><INPUT type='checkbox' name='chk'/></td><td><INPUT type='text' name='txt[]' id='txt'/></td><td><?php echo intervalo_manha(); ?></td></tr>"); Calling php function directly will return nothing, and I can't do anything. Is there any way to accomplish this? Thank you

  • Django Template Inheritance -- Missing Images?

    - by user367817
    Howdy, I have got the following file heirarchy: project   other stuff   templates       images           images for site       app1           templates for app1       registration           login template       base.html (base for entire site)       style.css (for base.html) In the login template, I am extending 'base.html.' 'base.html' uses 'style.css' along with all of the images in the 'templates/images' directory. For some reason, none of the CSS styles or images will show up in the login template, even though I'm extending it. Does this missing image issue have something to do with screwed up "media" settings somewhere? I never understood those, but this is a major roadblock in my proof-of-concept, so any help is appreciated. Thanks!

  • WPF Single Selection Across Multiple ItemsControls

    - by gregsdennis
    Part of my app has a month-view calendar interface, but I'm having trouble with item selection. The interface is set up so that each of the days in the view contains a ListBox of items, much like the month view in Outlook. The problem I'm experiencing is that I need to maintain a single item selection across all of the ListBoxes. Below is a sample window that should adequately describe my situation. I need to maintain a single selection between both ListBoxes. <Window x:Class="StackOverflow.MainWindow" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" Title="MainWindow" Height="350" Width="525"> <Grid> <Grid.ColumnDefinitions> <ColumnDefinition /> <ColumnDefinition /> </Grid.ColumnDefinitions> <ListBox ItemsSource="{Binding Numbers}" SelectedItem="{Binding SelectedObject"/> <ListBox Grid.Column="1" ItemsSource="{Binding Dates}" SelectedItem="{Binding SelectedObject"/> </Grid> </Window> In this primitive example, I would expect that when the SelectedObject property of my view model gets set to an item that's not in one ListBox, the selection would be removed in that ListBox, but that doesn't happen. I understand that I can simply name each ListBox, and hook into the SelectionChanged event. I'd prefer to not have to do that with an entire month-view calendar. There has to be a better way. In a previous iteration of the app, I was able to create a SelectionManager static class with an attached property that was used to maintain selection. However, I can't use this now as the classes I'm using for my items are not DependencyObjects, and I'd really prefer not to have to create DependencyObject wrapper classes as this will considerably complicate my architecture. Thanks.

  • Delphi / MySql : Problems escpaing strings

    - by mawg
    N00b here, having problems escaping strings. I used the QuotedStr() function - shouldn't that be enough. Unfortunately, the string that I am trying to quote is rather messy, but I will post it here in case anyone wants to paste it into WinMerge or KDiff3, etc. I am trying to store an entire Delphi form into the database, rather than into a .DFM file. It has only one field, a TEdit edit box. The debugger shows the form as text as 'object Form1: TScriptForm'#$D#$A' Left = 0'#$D#$A' Top = 0'#$D#$A' Align = alClient'#$D#$A' BorderStyle = bsNone'#$D#$A' ClientHeight = 517'#$D#$A' ClientWidth = 993'#$D#$A' Color = clBtnFace'#$D#$A' Font.Charset = DEFAULT_CHARSET'#$D#$A' Font.Color = clWindowText'#$D#$A' Font.Height = -11'#$D#$A' Font.Name = 'MS Sans Serif''#$D#$A' Font.Style = []'#$D#$A' OldCreateOrder = False'#$D#$A' SaveProps.Strings = ('#$D#$A' 'Visible=False')'#$D#$A' PixelsPerInch = 96'#$D#$A' TextHeight = 13'#$D#$A' object Edit1: TEdit'#$D#$A' Left = 192'#$D#$A' Top = 64'#$D#$A' Width = 121'#$D#$A' Height = 21'#$D#$A' TabOrder = 8'#$D#$A' end'#$D#$A'end'#$D#$A before calling QuotedStr() and ''object Form1: TScriptForm'#$D#$A' Left = 0'#$D#$A' Top = 0'#$D#$A' Align = alClient'#$D#$A' BorderStyle = bsNone'#$D#$A' ClientHeight = 517'#$D#$A' ClientWidth = 993'#$D#$A' Color = clBtnFace'#$D#$A' Font.Charset = DEFAULT_CHARSET'#$D#$A' Font.Color = clWindowText'#$D#$A' Font.Height = -11'#$D#$A' Font.Name = ''MS Sans Serif'''#$D#$A' Font.Style = []'#$D#$A' OldCreateOrder = False'#$D#$A' SaveProps.Strings = ('#$D#$A' ''Visible=False'')'#$D#$A' PixelsPerInch = 96'#$D#$A' TextHeight = 13'#$D#$A' object Edit1: TEdit'#$D#$A' Left = 192'#$D#$A' Top = 64'#$D#$A' Width = 121'#$D#$A' Height = 21'#$D#$A' TabOrder = 8'#$D#$A' end'#$D#$A'end'#$D#$A''' afterwards. The strange thing is that my complete command 'INSERT INTO designerFormDfm(designerFormDfmText) VALUES ("'object Form1: TScriptForm'#$D#$A' Left = 0'#$D#$A' Top = 0'#$D#$A' Align = alClient'#$D#$A' BorderStyle = bsNone'#$D#$A' ClientHeight = 517'#$D#$A' ClientWidth = 993'#$D#$A' Color = clBtnFace'#$D#$A' Font.Charset = DEFAULT_CHARSET'#$D#$A' Font.Color = clWindowText'#$D#$A' Font.Height = -11'#$D#$A' Font.Name = ''MS Sans Serif'''#$D#$A' Font.Style = []'#$D#$A' OldCreateOrder = False'#$D#$A' SaveProps.Strings = ('#$D#$A' ''Visible=False'')'#$D#$A' PixelsPerInch = 96'#$D#$A' TextHeight = 13'#$D#$A' object Edit1: TEdit'#$D#$A' Left = 192'#$D#$A' Top = 64'#$D#$A' Width = 121'#$D#$A' Height = 21'#$D#$A' TabOrder = 8'#$D#$A' end'#$D#$A'end'#$D#$A''");' executes in a MySql console, but not from Delphi, where I pass that command as parameter command to a function which ADOCommand.CommandText := command; ADOCommand.CommandType := cmdText; ADOCommand.Execute(); I can only assume that I am having problems escpaing sequences which contain single quotes (and QuotedStr() doesn't seem to escape backslahes(?!)) What am I doing that is obviously, glaringly wrong?

  • Valid javascript object property names

    - by hawkettc
    I'm trying to work out what is considered valid for the property name of a javascript object. For example var b = {} b['-^colour'] = "blue"; // Works fine in Firefox, Chrome, Safari b['colour'] = "green"; // Ditto alert(b['-^colour']); // Ditto alert(b.colour); // Ditto for(prop in b) alert(prop); // Ditto //alert(b.-^colour); // Fails (expected) This post details valid javascript variable names, and '-^colour' is clearly not valid (as a variable name). Does the same apply to object property names? Looking at the above I'm trying to work out if b['-^colour'] is invalid, but works in all browsers by quirk, and I shouldn't trust it to work going forward b['-^colour'] is completely valid, but it's just of a form that can only be accessed in this manner - (it's supported so Objects can be used as maps perhaps?) Something else As an aside, a global variable in javascript might be declared at the top level as var abc = 0; but could also be created (as I understand it) with window['abc'] = 0; the following works in all the above browsers window['@£$%'] = "bling!"; alert(window['@£$%']); Is this valid? It seems to contradict the variable naming rules - or am I not declaring a variable there? What's the difference between a variable and an object property name? Cheers, Colin

  • JavaScript: How is "function x() {}" different from "x = function() {}" ?

    - by jleedev
    In the answers to this question, we read that function f() {} defines the name locally, while [var] f = function() {} defines it globally. That makes perfect sense to me, but there's some strange behavior that's different between the two declarations. I made an HTML page with the script onload = function() { alert("hello"); } and it worked as expected. When I changed it to function onload() { alert("hello"); } nothing happened. (Firefox still fired the event, but WebKit, Opera, and Internet Explorer didn't, although frankly I've no idea which is correct.) In both cases (in all browsers), I could verify that both window.onload and onload were set to the function. In both cases, the global object this is set to the window, and I no matter how I write the declaration, the window object is receiving the property just fine. What's going on here? Why does one declaration work differently from the other? Is this a quirk of the JavaScript language, the DOM, or the interaction between the two?

  • MVC for a desktop application, connection a view/controller pair with another one

    - by lcf
    Hello. I've had mostly experience with "server-side" mvc frameworks very popular in different languages like ASP.NET MVC or Zend Framework for php, Spring for Java etc. Some of them are also possible to use for desktop applications development but I never tried that. I fully understand that design patterns should not limit implementation, they should generally provide ideas and common rules that can be differently implemented. Now I'm playing with one of those mvc frameworks for usual Desktop Applications development (it does not have many tutorials or a decent quickstart) and I have some questions regarding to the mvc paradigm. Here is one of them: What are common ways to link different views / controllers? If I click a button, special controller for that button dispatches the event that is generated, does something with the model, changes view state. But what if I need to interact with another view? Like, when I click on a button, it changes a model, but also I need to open another window or change state of another window (hiding a button on another window let's say...), without changing actually the model. What are common ways here to address this? Should my first controller generate an event for the second controller (or second view)? Or should the second controller be handling events from first view? Some links or examples for any languages/frameworks would be really helpful, thanks!

  • iOS6: do we have to set rootViewController in App delegate in order to support different orientations?

    - by Centurion
    The app was perfectly fine working in iOS5 in landscape orientation. However in iOS6, it started to use portrait orientation in all view controllers. The methods shouldAutorotateToInterfaceOrientation are not called anymore. I read the new stuff about changed rotation mechanism in iOS6 and I was able to fix that by adding a line in my AppDelegate: self.window.rootViewController = _viewController _viewControler is the starting screen (Home-menu). All other view controllers implement shouldAutorotateToInterfaceOrientation method and returns YES for landscape orientations only. So, it's perfectly working solution for the app that needs to support only one orientation. However, the problem is I need one view controller (lets call it phone-VC) to be presented in portrait orientation. Now, if I want this view controller would be rotated then I need to return YES in Home-menu controller that is assigned to rootViewControler in appDelegate. However, I can't do that because this rootViewController is starting window that need to presented in landscape only, otherwise the layout with graphics in this window will break. But if I don't return YES from its shouldAutorotateToInterfaceOrientation (Home-menu) then the same method is not called in my view phone-VC that needs to be presented in portrait. Any ideas? Does the assignation of rootViewController is mandatory in AppDelegate? UPDATE: the problem exists on device (at least on iPhone4).

  • MPMediaickerController memory leak identified by Leaks instrument

    - by Joe
    This is code from Apple's Addmusic example. MPMediaPickerController *picker = [[MPMediaPickerController alloc] initWithMediaTypes: MPMediaTypeMusic]; picker.delegate = self; picker.allowsPickingMultipleItems = YES; picker.prompt = NSLocalizedString (@"Add songs to play", "Prompt in media item picker"); // The media item picker uses the default UI style, so it needs a default-style // status bar to match it visually [[UIApplication sharedApplication] setStatusBarStyle: UIStatusBarStyleDefault animated: YES]; [self presentModalViewController: picker animated: YES]; [picker release]; I'm using this code in my app and the Leaks instrument highlights a leak on the line: [self presentModalViewController: picker animated: YES]; I think that this is because this line retains a reference to picker which cannot be subsequently released. Is there any way around this or is Leaks incorrectly identifying a leak?

  • Having a fork match the original repo when the original master branch can't be merged in?

    - by a2h
    The related questions that SO offer me only answer simple cases that can be solved with a pull - however, that won't work for my case. There's a repository I've forked, with just a master branch, and I've forked it, and I've worked in both my master, and a new branch of my own, rw-style. The owner of the forked repository's committed some of my changes but not others; the black dots on the top right below represent commits from both my master and rw-style branches. I'm aware using the fork queue is not a good idea, so I'm staying away from it. Using git pull does work, but it creates a conflict that I would then need to resolve, and it also results in duplicate history for my master branch, and that doesn't look particularly pretty. I don't know any other solutions right now, so I'm currently considering just creating a patch from two commits that I haven't yet pushed, deleting my fork, creating it again from the original, and then applying my patches on top of it. Is that the only solution?

  • Trapping messages in .NET

    - by user350632
    How can i trap a Windows system message (like WM_SETTEXT) that was sent by some window (VLC player window in my case)? I've tried to inherit NativeWindow class and override WndProc like this: class VLCFilter : NativeWindow { System.IntPtr iHandle; const int WM_SETTEXT = 0x000C; public VLCFilter() { Process p = Process.GetProcessesByName("vlc")[0]; iHandle = p.MainWindowHandle; } protected override void WndProc(ref Message aMessage) { base.WndProc(ref aMessage); if (aMessage.HWnd != iHandle) return false; if (aMessage.Msg == WM_SETTEXT) { MessageBox.Show("VLC window text changed!"); } } } I have checked with Microsoft Spy++ that WM_SETTEXT message is sent by VLC player but my code doesn't seem to get the work done. I've refered mainly to: http://www.codeproject.com/kb/dotnet/devicevolumemonitor.aspx I'm trying to make this work for some time with no success. What am I doing wrong? What I am not doing? Maybe there is easier way to do this? My initial goal is to catch when VLC player (that could be playing somewhere in the background and is not emmbed in my application) repeats its playback (have noticed that WM_SETTEXT message is sent then and I'm trying to find it out like this).

  • TFS: Choose which workspace to add a solution too.

    - by Patricker
    I have a solution which I developed in VS2008 and which I am trying to add to Source Control (TFS 2010, though the issue happened in TFS 2008 as well). I have several TFS workspaces on my computer and I have access to several Team Projects. When I right click the solution in my Solution Explorer and choose the "Add Solution to Source Control" option I am never given an option of choosing which Workspace or which Team Project to add the existing solution too. VS2008 then proceeds to add it to the same team project every time. I have tried selecting an alternate workspace/team project in every window where I can see an option for it but it always adds it back to the same one. I even tried changing the name of my new workspace so that alphabetically it was the first thinking that it might be somehow related to that... no luck. I then tried goign to the Change Source Control window where you can add/remove bindings on a solution/project but that window also defaults to the same Team Project as trying to add the solution directly does... Any help would be greatly appreciated with this, maybe I'm just missing something?

  • Ajax response is taking time to populate.

    - by Rachel
    I am having an util class which is not owned by me. I am calling one of the method of that util class which inturn calls one ajax function. And gives me response back. I need to make a decision depending on the response object. The problem is that response object takes some time to populate(mili seconds). var selector = dojo.byId("SelectorId"); var theChart = new chart( selector, 135, 92, style, frequency, time); if(theChart.data ===null){ console.log("No response"); }else{ Console.log("Use response data"); } and chart( selector, 135, 92, style, frequency, time); is not owned by me. chart() is from util class. above snippet works fine with break point. But when I remove the breakpoint it starts going in "if" block always. Hows can I solve this issue.

  • Abstracting the adding of click events to elements selected by class using jQuery

    - by baroquedub
    I'm slowly getting up to speed with jQuery and am starting to want to abstract my code. I'm running into problems trying to define click events at page load. In the code below, I'm trying to run through each div with the 'block' class and add events to some of its child elements by selecting them by class: <script language="javascript" type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function (){ $('HTML').addClass('JS'); // if JS enabled, hide answers $(".block").each(function() { problem = $(this).children('.problem'); button = $(this).children('.showButton'); problem.data('currentState', 'off'); button.click(function() { if ((problem.data('currentState')) == 'off'){ button.children('.btn').html('Hide'); problem.data('currentState', 'on'); problem.fadeIn('slow'); } else if ((problem.data('currentState')) == 'on'){ button.children('.btn').html('Solve'); problem.data('currentState', 'off'); problem.fadeOut('fast'); } return false; }); }); }); </script> <style media="all" type="text/css"> .JS div.problem{display:none;} </style> <div class="block"> <div class="showButton"> <a href="#" title="Show solution" class="btn">Solve</a> </div> <div class="problem"> <p>Answer 1</p> </div> </div> <div class="block"> <div class="showButton"> <a href="#" title="Show solution" class="btn">Solve</a> </div> <div class="problem"> <p>Answer 2</p> </div> </div> Unfortunately using this, only the last of the divs' button actually works. The event is not 'localised' (if that's the right word for it?) i.e. the event is only applied to the last $(".block") in the each method. So I have to laboriously add ids for each element and define my click events one by one. Surely there's a better way! Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? And how I can get rid of the need for those IDs (I want this to work on dynamically generated pages where I might not know how many 'blocks' there are...) <script language="javascript" type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function (){ $('HTML').addClass('JS'); // if JS enabled, hide answers // Preferred version DOESN'T' WORK // So have to add ids to each element and laboriously set-up each one in turn... $('#problem1').data('currentState', 'off'); $('#showButton1').click(function() { if (($('#problem1').data('currentState')) == 'off'){ $('#showButton1 > a').html('Hide'); $('#problem1').data('currentState', 'on'); $('#problem1').fadeIn('slow'); } else if (($('#problem1').data('currentState')) == 'on'){ $('#showButton1 > a').html('Solve'); $('#problem1').data('currentState', 'off'); $('#problem1').fadeOut('fast'); } return false; }); $('#problem2').data('currentState', 'off'); $('#showButton2').click(function() { if (($('#problem2').data('currentState')) == 'off'){ $('#showButton2 > a').html('Hide'); $('#problem2').data('currentState', 'on'); $('#problem2').fadeIn('slow'); } else if (($('#problem2').data('currentState')) == 'on'){ $('#showButton2 > a').html('Solve'); $('#problem2').data('currentState', 'off'); $('#problem2').fadeOut('fast'); } return false; }); }); </script> <style media="all" type="text/css"> .JS div.problem{display:none;} </style> <div class="block"> <div class="showButton" id="showButton1"> <a href="#" title="Show solution" class="btn">Solve</a> </div> <div class="problem" id="problem1"> <p>Answer 1</p> </div> </div> <div class="block"> <div class="showButton" id="showButton2"> <a href="#" title="Show solution" class="btn">Solve</a> </div> <div class="problem" id="problem2"> <p>Answer 2</p> </div> </div>

  • Rendering XHTML as MS Word Document - Headers

    - by Paul
    Hi, I generate an XHTML document and set the Mime type as "application/msword" so it opens in Word. To create a header I appear to have to reference an external file thus: <style> ... @page{mso-footnote-separator:url("**OUT_files/header.htm**") fs; mso-footnote-continuation-separator:url("OUT_files/header.htm") fcs; mso-endnote-separator:url("OUT_files/header.htm") es; mso-endnote-continuation-separator:url("OUT_files/header.htm") ecs;} @page Section1{ mso-header-margin:.5in; mso-header:url("OUT_files/header.htm") h1; } } ... </style> Does anyone know how to reference a div defined within the main XHTML document itself, without having to reference an external file? Thanks

  • Difference in displaying inner div between IE and Chrome

    - by Gaara
    I have this code that has one "outerDIV" that contains an "innerDIV". On chrome the "innerDIV" size is 491px, whereas on IE it is 425px (same as outerDIV). Hence, on Chrome I can see the first two children of "innerdiv": "My test string #1" and "test2". But for IE I can only see the first child. I am not quite sure what the "right" behavior should be, as firefox does the same as IE. However I would like to have IE do the same as Chrome. I have been experimenting with some css styles (mainly overflow and display), but still can't make it right: IE will expand its height instead of its width to make the elements fit. Can you guys help me figure out a way to change the css so that IE will wraps the div elements inline? As a restriction though, I cannot change the width on the HTML. As a benefit, I am using a css that only loads for IE to patch these kind of IE inconsistencies. The same css will NOT load for chrome, so I don't need to worry about messing with chrome when changing the IE CSS. Thanks in advance! <html> <head> <style type="text/css"> <!-- body { font-family: helvetica; } .myContainer { overflow: hidden; border: 1px solid rgba(0, 0, 0, .5); font-size: 14pt; height: 49px; line-height: 49px; overflow: hidden; display: block; } .myContainer > DIV { float: left; white-space: nowrap; display: block; } .myContainer .item:first-child { padding-left: 10px; } .myContainer .item { float: left; padding-right: 32px; } --> </style> </head> <body> <div id="outerDIV" class="myContainer" style="display: block; width: 425px;"> <div id="innerDIV"> <div class="item"> --------My test string #1-------- </div> <div class="item"> ------test2------- </div> <div class="item"> test </div> </div> </div> </body> </html>

  • Jquery attach show event to select option

    - by John
    Hi, I have a select form element with 5 options. If option 2 is selected I want to display another form input box (this has a style of display:none initially). How can I attach an event to option 2 so that whenever it is selected the input box is shown otherwise it is hidden. I have this currently but this does not handle is option 2 is already selected when the page loads $('#type').change(function(){ var typeSelected = $(this).val(); if (typeSelected == 2) { $('#extraInput').show(); } }); I know I could add another bit of code which checks what is selected on page load but wondered if there was a neater way of doing this. Also something that could handle the hiding of the input box if option 2 is not selected at the start as currently I have just hard-coded style="display:none" onto the input box but I would prefer this to be dynamic. Thanks
