or maybe some open source code is available now ?
Thanks for your help !

My code is using file_get_contents() to make GET requests to an API endpoint. It looks like it is using HTTP/1.0 and my sysadmin says I need to use HTTP/1.1. How can I make an HTTP/1.1 request? Do I need to use curl or is there a better/easier way?
Does anyone know the rationale behind this naming convention? I don't see any benefit. The extra prefix just pollutes the API.
I like Konrad Rudolph's response found in this related article
I tried the following
Net::HTTP.get_print URI.parse(URI.encode('https://graph.facebook.com/me/likes?access_token=mytoken', '|'))
(My Token is my actual token in code)
I get a EOFError: end of file reached error
If I visit the page with my browswer it loads up a JSON page. Any idea what could be causing the error? It was working a few days ago. Can't see any changes to facebook api.
I know that each recipient counts toward the Recipients Emailed (billable) quota and I can't send to more than is my daily quota.
But is there a limit how many recipients can a single email have?
For example can a single email created and sent through App engine Mail api have 8000 recipients?
I am creating a secure web based API that uses HTTPS however if I allow the users to configure it (include sending password) using a query string will this also be secure or should I force it to be done via a POST?
And how do I convert it to a datetime.datetime instance in python?
It's the output from the New York State Senate's API: http://open.nysenate.gov/legislation/.
Hi,
Is sequential coupling (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sequential_coupling) really a bad thing in code?
Although it's an anti-pattern, the only risk I see is calling methods in the wrong order but documentation of an API/class library with this anti-pattern should take care of that. What other problems are there from code which is sequential? Also, this pattern could easily be fixed by using a facade it seems.
Thanks
Currently I have a website on the Google App Engine written in Google's webapp framework. What I want to know is what are the benefits of converting my app to run with django? And what are the downsides? Also how did you guys code your GAE apps? Did you use webapp or django? Or did you go an entirely different route and use the Java api?
Thanks
I read a lot of blogs and see people all the time talking about bad things in the java programming language; a lot of them are about annotations and generics that were added to the language in 1.5 release. What are the things in the language or the API that you don't like or would design differently?
i know java API function charAt for example
String s="dato"
char r=s.charAt(0); r is equal d
but my question is how realy it works or what function can i use instead of charAt function to get same result? thanks
I would like to have a button in my window such that if I click it (button) the window is closed.
I found out that I can close a window in the following way:
referenceToTheFrame.hide(); //hides the frame from view
refToTheFrame.dispose(); //disposes the frame from memory
But if I do this way, compiler complains:
Note: myProgram.java uses or overrides a deprecated API
Note: Recompile with -Xlint:deprication for details.
Do I do something unsafe?
I have a file format plugin and everytime I attempt to write to the file in DoWriteStart, the callouts fail.
The Photoshop API is using the windows WriteFile callout which is returning a 0 value. when an attempt to write to the file is made
According to the java API, the constructor Date(year, month, day) is depreciated. I know that I can replace it with the following code:
Calendar myCal = Calendar.getInstance();
myCal.set(Calendar.YEAR, theYear);
myCal.set(Calendar.MONTH, theMonth);
myCal.set(Calendar.DAY_OF_MONTH, theDay);
Date theDate = myCal.getTime();
However, I would like something shorter to replace it with (ideally one-two lines).
Any suggestions?
Hi all,
I have to make some charts on a "mobile" website, what is the best framework to do this?
I see Google Charts API, JQuery Visualize, Raphael and JS Charts... but i don't know who is the best one in Safari Mobile.
Thanks in advance to your response.
After reading the MSDN article about proper user interface here:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa974176.aspx
I want to modify the message boxes I use in my applications to reflect those guidelines (for example, have the Main Instructions in a larger font, better named Buttons, etc...).
My question is, is there an API that allows you to easily build those kind of message boxes (a la user32\MessageBox()), or do you actually have to build your own message boxes which follow the guidelines?
There are many discussions about what people's favourite source control is (subversion, mercurial ...). But what source control systems have you used that you certainly wouldn't recommend? And more beneficial, how would you go about promoting change in the business to a new source control system?
A few years ago I developed using a source control system called Synergy. There were two Synergy experts in the company that constantly had to help the developers do check-ins/outs and merges were especially difficult.
What would be your steps of migrating to a better source control. Would you host everything internally or pay for services such as github?
I'm getting a strange NullPointerException, evidently thrown by the following line of code:
Iterator<Note> it = notes.iterator();
I've checked, and at the time the java.util.TreeSet notes is always non-null (with 15 elements). The TreeSet API says nothing about iterator() throwing NullPointerExceptions. What else could be going here?
Hi all,
I want to write an application that will monitor the content of all open tabs in IE / FireFox and trigger event once particular data is displayed in the tab.
I would like to know if there is an API for IE/FF to set focus on particular TAB, so that once event is triggered I set focus on a relevant tab.
Thanks in advance
Hi-
Is there any possibility to refresh the service list of a paired device in a programm?
At the moment, i have to go to the bluetooth options and select the device properties of the bluetooth device and have to refresh the service list manually.
Is there any API that RIMM provides to do programmatically?
thanks,
I have an application that needs the same items [5 buttons acting as tabs] in every screen. Is it possible to create a "base XML layout" that has these 5 buttons and then have all the other XML files extend from the bas layout in some way so that I don't have to have multiple buttons that will ultimately have the same functionality.
Is there a better approach to this problem that can be supported by API 9
Hi All,
Does any body know how to defragment windows registry.
We googled and found several free tools doing the same.But no tool is having open source. One tool is there - 'UltraDefrag' which is open source tool written in 'C' for file defragmentation.
Please provide help in searching open source/ sample code to defragment windows registry...or any windows API functions or libraries for doing the same.
Regards.
In this video (10 sec) you can see that the nested attribute is only updated if it's parent model is changed.
Using rails 3.0.0.beta and full project is on github.
Summary of models and form:
class Project < ActiveRecord::Base
has_many :tasks
accepts_nested_attributes_for :tasks
end
class Task < ActiveRecord::Base
belongs_to :project
has_many :assignments
accepts_nested_attributes_for :assignments
end
class Assignment < ActiveRecord::Base
belongs_to :task
end
form_for(@project) do |f|
Project: f.text_field :name
f.fields_for :tasks do |task_form|
Task: task_form.text_field :name
task_form.fields_for :assignments do |assignment_form|
Assignment: assignment_form.text_field :name
end
end
f.submit
end
