  • Please help with iPhone Memory & Images, memory usage crashing app

    I have an issue with memory usage relating to images and I've searched the docs and watched the videos from cs193p and the iphone dev site on memory mgmt and performance. I've searched online and posted on forums, but I still can't figure it out. The app uses core data and simply lets the user associate text with a picture and stores the list of items in a table view that lets you add and delete items. Clicking on a row shows the image and related text. that's it. Everything runs fine on the simulator and on the device as well. I ran the analyzer and it looked good, so i then starting looking at performance. I ran leaks and everything looked good. My issue is when running Object Allocations as every time i select a row and the view with the image is shown, the live bytes jumps up a few MB and never goes down and my app eventually crashes due to memory usage. Sorting the live bytes column, i see 2 2.72MB mallocs (5.45Mb total), 14 CFDatas (3.58MB total), 1 2.74MB malloc and everything else is real small. the problem is all the related info in instruments is really technical and all the problem solving examples i've seen are just missing a release and nothing complicated. Instruments shows Core Data as the responsible library for all but one (libsqlite3.dylib the other) with [NSSQLCore _prepareResultsFromResultSet:usingFetchPlan:withMatchingRows:] as the caller for all but one (fetchResultSetReallocCurrentRow the other) and im just not sure how to track down what the problem is. i've looked at the stack traces and opened the last instance of my code and found 2 culprits (below).   • Setting dijit.Tree cookie for all pages

    I'm using the same dijit.Tree view over several pages in our application, and I'd like to have the cookie saved for the server name, instead of the folder name. Right now I've got 3 pages and 3 cookies, which each hold their own information on the state of the Tree, which is kinda annoying. Any ways to accomplish this? The only thing I've found on cookies in the API, is that I can set the cookieName and turn cookies on/off.

The state of the week will be saved as a 'varbinary' with a length of 168 which will represent every hour of everyday of a week.     What are all the file formats supported by UIWebView? In my testing, I found that it supports XLS, DOC, PPT, PDF but not XLSX, and DOCX, RTF. It supports image files like, JPG, PNG, GIF, BMP, not sure about TIFF or Exactly, what all types are supported is not clear... The UIWebView documentation also doesn't state it clearly.   • Unselecting RadioButtons in Java Swing

    When displaying a group of JRadioButtons, initially none of them is selected (unless you programmatically enforce that). I would like to be able to put buttons back into that state even after the user already selected one, i.e., none of the buttons should be selected. However, using the usual suspects doesn't deliver the required effect: calling 'setSelected(false)' on each button doesn't work. Interestingly, it does work when the buttons are not put into a ButtonGroup - unfortunately, the latter is required for JRadioButtons to be mutually exclusive. Also, using the setSelected(ButtonModel, boolean) - method of javax.swing.ButtonGroup doesn't do what I want. I've put together a small program to demonstrate the effect: two radio buttons and a JButton. I want to select back the items that don't exist already, so I can create them. table tags +---------+-------+ | tagId | name | | 1 | C | | 2 | DX | | 3 | CG | Say SQL looks like: select name from tags where name in ( 'C', 'CG', 'RX' ) You get back 'C' and 'CG', so you know you have to create 'RX'. Is there a way to get a MySQL statement like this to return 'RX' instead, when 'RX' doesn't already exist?

    I have some NSString varibales that incude items like Ð and Õ and if I do cell.textLabel.text = person.name; and if it contains one of those characters the cell.textlabel is blank! I have discovered that if I use NSString *col1 = [NSString stringWithUTF8String:(char *)sqlite3_column_text(compiledStatement, 0)]; To pull my data back it pulls back null, however using the deprectared method NSString *col1 = [NSString stringWithCString:(char *)sqlite3_column_text(compiledStatement, 0)]; Shows the characters! Any ideas?
