  • Not found in protocol

    - by Alex
I've subclassed MKAnnotation so that i can assign objects to annotations and then assign this object to a view controller like so: - (void)mapView:(MKMapView *)mapView annotationView:(MKAnnotationView *)view calloutAccessoryControlTapped:(UIControl *)control { PlaceDetailView *detailView = [[PlaceDetailView alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewStyleGrouped]; detailView.place = [view.annotation place]; [self.navigationController pushViewController:detailView animated:YES]; [detailView release]; } This is working great but i'm having the following issues: If i try and access the place getter method like so view.annotation.place i recieve an error: Accessing unknown place getter method If i acces the place getter method like so [view.annotation place] i receive a warning: place not found in protocol From my understanding this is because the place object is not defined in the MKAnnotation protocol, although i'm aware of this i'm not sure how to tell the complier that place does exist and it's not calling it blind.

  • Simple addView problem

    - by Buyin Brian
Hi there. I have a simple addView problem that is driving me nuts, I know I am overlooking something simple, perhaps another set of eyes can help. I have a Nib with a view that has a class identity set to TestView In my view controller, I use the following code: CGRect myRect = CGRectMake(0, 0, 320,240); TestView *myTest = [[TestView alloc] initWithFrame:myRect]; [self.view addSubview:myTest]; I have a NSLog in the TestView class's initWithFrame that fires when the above code is executed, but the view doesn't appear in the view controllers view. Thanks for your help.

  • What is the correct way of handling a reloaded view after it was dismissed?

    - by favo
Hi, I have the same problem as the guy here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2682844/uiimagepickercontroller-reloads-view-after-its-dismissed I have a UIView with a UIDatePicker within a Popover. When the Popover is dismissed and presented again, it sometimes resets the Picker in the view because hidden views are unloaded when a memory warning occurs. This is the part displaying the view: endCompareDateTimePicker.picker.maximumDate = [NSDate dateWithTimeIntervalSinceNow:0]; [endCompareDateTimePopover presentPopoverFromRect:sender.frame inView:self.view permittedArrowDirections:UIPopoverArrowDirectionAny animated:YES]; The picker (IBOutlet UIDatePicker) does not stay initiated. Adding a [endCompareDateTimePicker loadView] helped out and got me the picker initiated to set the correct date values before displaying the view. While this is working, I dont think this is the proper way doing this. What would be the correct way to handle this situation?

  • Ruby on Rails Increment Counter in Model

    - by febs
I'm attempting to increment a counter in my User table from another model. class Count < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :user after_create :update_count def update_count user = User.find(self.user_id) user.increment(:count) end end So when count is created the goal would be to increment a counter column for that user. Currently it refuses to get the user after creation and I get a nil error. I'm using devise for my Users Is this the right (best practice) place to do it? I had it working in the controllers, but wanted to clean it up. I'm very inexperienced with Model callbacks.

  • FJSTransitionController setup and use in View Controller not main app delegate

    - by elliotrock
I am trying to set up Corey Floyd's FJSTransitionController. My app uses a main view controller to manage the main view navigation. I also went through the source to fix it for ARC. Followed instructions and in my main delegate .h I have in the usual spots: FJTransitionController* mainTransitionController; @property (nonatomic, retain) FJTransitionController* mainTransitionController; delegate .m has the following @synthesize mainTransitionController And in the - (BOOL)application:(UIApplication *)application didFinishLaunchingWithOptions:(NSDictionary *)launchOptions mainTransitionController=[[FJTransitionController alloc] init]; // do I need to instantise? [self.window addSubview:mainTransitionController.view]; [mainTransitionController setViewControllerClass:[[mainViewController sendMissionsPanelViewController] class] forKey:@"missionView"]; The last line is complaining that there is no @interface for FJTransitionController? Any help please.

  • Check if NSMutableArray contains text from textfield

    - by Polo Swelsen
I want to check if the text inserted in a textfield is also in my NSMutableArray. So let's say my NSMutableArray has these objects: "Hey, Hello, No, Yes". Then when a user enters the text: "Hello" i want there to appear a UIAlertView. I now have the following: for (int slt = 0; slt < [zouten count]; slt++) { if (zout.text = [zouten objectAtIndex:slt]) { alert = [[UIAlertView alloc]initWithTitle:@"Goedzo!" message:[NSString stringWithFormat:@"Je hebt een zout gevonden"] delegate:self cancelButtonTitle:@"OK" otherButtonTitles:nil]; } } [alert show]; But somehow the message appears with every word. what am i doing wrong?

  • UITableView with contact image problems.

    - by prathumca
As par my app requirement, I'm showing the contact images in a UITableView as shown below. ABRecordRef contact = [self getContact]; if(contact && ABPersonHasImageData(contact)) { UIImage *contactImage = [UIImage imageWithData:(NSData*)ABPersonCopyImageData(contact)]; callImage.image = contactImage; } I've two problems if I use the above code segment. Table Scrolling is too slow. If comment the above code, then UITable responds very fast. Memory Management. My app started using 25 - 30 MB of RAM. Is there any better way to avoid the above two problems?

  • Best way to parse XMPP-like XML streams?

    - by codethief
I am working on a server application which receives data over a TCP socket in an XMPP-like XML format, i.e. every child of the <root> element essentially represents one separate request (stanza). The connection is closed as soon as </root> is received. I do know that I must use a stream parser like SAX, somehow. Though, for convenience, I'd prefer to have a tree-like interface to access each stanza's child elements. (The data sent with every request is not large so I think it makes sense to read each stanza as a whole.) What's the best way to realize that in Python (preferably v3)? This is the code I'd like to build it in. Feel free to point me in a totally different direction to solve this issue. import socketserver import settings class MyServer(socketserver.ThreadingMixIn, socketserver.TCPServer): pass class MyRequestHandler(socketserver.StreamRequestHandler): def handle(self): pass if __name__ == '__main__': server = MyServer((settings.host, settings.port), MyRequestHandler) server.serve_forever()

  • Why can't I call my doSomething method?

    - by Tattat
    This is my DrawSomethingCmd: #import "Command.h"; @interface DrawSomethingCmd : Command { } -(void)doSomething; -(void)execute; @end and the DrawSomethingCmd.m's doSomething method is: -(void)doSomething{ NSLog(@"did"); } The Command.h: #import <Foundation/Foundation.h> @interface Command : NSObject { } -(void)execute; And Command.m: #import "Command.h" @implementation Command -(id)init{ return self; } -(void)execute{ } @end And I have a method like this: DrawSomethingCmd *tempCmd = [[DrawSomethingCmd alloc] init]; [tempCmd doSomething]; But my console didn't show anything. What's going on?

  • Indexing a method return (depending on Internationalization)

    - by Hedde
Consider a django model with an IntegerField with some choices, e.g. COLORS = ( (0, _(u"Blue"), (1, _(u"Red"), (2, _(u"Yellow"), ) class Foo(models.Model): # ...other fields... color = models.PositiveIntegerField(choices=COLOR, verbose_name=_(u"color")) My current (haystack) index: class FooIndex(SearchIndex): text = CharField(document=True, use_template=True) color = CharField(model_attr='color') def prepare_color(self, obj): return obj.get_color_display() site.register(Product, ProductIndex) This obviously only works for keyword "yellow", but not for any (available) translations. Question: What's would be a good way to solve this problem? (indexing method returns based on the active language) What I have tried: I created a function that runs a loop over every available language (from settings) appending any translation to a list, evaluating this against the query, pre search. If any colors are matched it converts them backwards into their numeric representation to evaluate against obj.color, but this feels wrong.

  • Detect if NSString contains a URL and generate a "link" to open inside the app a Safari View

    - by Cy
    I have am reading a twitter feed in my iPhone application and can do it correctly, but I'd like to evolve it in a way to detect if the whole NSString contains any URL or URLs and create a "link" that will open a UIWebView within the same application. Can you guide me on how to perform this task? -(void) setTextTwitter:(NSString *)text WithDate:(NSString*)date { [text retain]; [textTwitter release], textTwitter = nil; textTwitter = text; [date retain]; [dateTwitter release], dateTwitter = nil; dateTwitter = date; [self setNeedsDisplay]; }

  • iPhone: Switching Views From Outside Root Controller

    - by senfo
I am using a UINavigationController to switch between views. What I would like is for each view to have the ability to control when it is swapped out for another view by having buttons within the view. All of the samples I've seen thus far have placed buttons on a toolbar, which is located on the root view containing the Switch View Controller rather than the views, them self. Is it possible to do what I want? I can't figure how to wire up the connection back to the UINavigationController. I'm having a difficult time wording this, so please feel free to let me know if you need additional clarification.

  • ParentViewController returns nil

    - by Andreas Johannessen
Hi I know there are many questions on this, but I don't get it to work. I present a UITabBarController with the presentModalViewController. However when I try to get title from the navigationItem title attribute in the UINavigationController class that presents the tabcontroller, it returns nil no matter what I do. I have the NSLog in the viewDidLoad method in tabcontroller class. I also cast the UIViewController which is returned by the self.parentViewController property. Then I try to access the title through: NSLog(@"%@", castedViewController.navigationItem.title); Any suggestions?

  • How can I make text in a UILabel non-centered?

Is there anyway I can have the text display from the top left corner of the label instead of the middle center?

  • video streaming

    - by mawia
Hi! all I am designing an application for streaming video.I have developed a model in which a server wait for incoming request. The server it self is serving to a good number of clients and it can't afford to serve any more clients. Now when the new connection comes, the server chooses from among it's clients a candidate client who will serve the request of the incoming client. Now the thing is that this choice should be very intelligent. Now I am using various heuristic like bandwidth of the selected client,it's location, distance from the requesting client to come at a decision. Now my question is,IS THERE AVAILABLE ANY TOOL TO FIND OUT BANDWIDTH,LOCATION of a host, and DISTANCE(my be in hop number)?for hop number I can use traceroute but that will be too expensive as it take long time sending reply from every intermediate router. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks!

  • Urban Airship Tags issue

    - by Moshe
I modified the alias sample code from: [request addRequestHeader: @"Content-Type" value: @"application/json"]; [request appendPostData:[[NSString stringWithFormat: @"{\"alias\": \"%@\"}", self.deviceAlias] dataUsingEncoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding]]; to: [request addRequestHeader: @"Content-Type" value: @"application/json"]; [request appendPostData:[[NSString stringWithFormat: @"{\"tags\": \"%@\"}", offsetStr] dataUsingEncoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding]]; offsetStr is a string containing a Timezone offset (which can be any number between -12 and 12). For some reason, Urban Airship is making each character of the string into its own tag. I've tried to substitute the - for a string neg with the same results. What's wrong?

  • Add console.profile statements to JavaScript/jQuery code on the fly.

    - by novogeek
Hi folks, We have a thick client app using jQuery heavily and want to profile the performance of the code using firebug's console.profile API. The problem is, I don't want to change the code to write the profile statements. Take this example: var search=function(){ this.init=function(){ console.log('init'); } this.ajax=function(){ console.log('ajax'); //make ajax call using $.ajax and do some DOM manipulations here.. } this.cache=function(){ console.log('cache'); } } var instance=new search(); instance.ajax(); I want to profile my instance.ajax method, but I dont want to add profile statements in the code, as that makes it difficult to maintain the code. I'm trying to override the methods using closures, like this: http://www.novogeek.com/post/2010/02/27/Overriding-jQueryJavaScript-functions-using-closures.aspx but am not very sure how I can achieve. Any pointers on this? I think this would help many big projects to profile the code easily without a big change in code. Here is the idea. Just run the below code in firebug console, to know what I'm trying to achieve. var search=function(){ this.init=function(){ console.log('init'); } this.ajax=function(){ console.log('ajax'); //make ajax call using $.ajax and do some DOM manipulations here.. } this.cache=function(){ console.log('cache'); } } var instance=new search(); $.each(instance, function(functionName, functionBody){ (function(){ var dup=functionBody functionBody=function(){ console.log('modifying the old function: ',functionName); console.profile(functionName); dup.apply(this, arguments); console.profileEnd(functionName); } })(); console.log(functionName, '::', functionBody()); }); Now what I need is, if i say instance.ajax(), I want the new ajax() method to be called, along with the console.profile statements. Hope I'm clear with the requirement. Please improvise the above code. Regards, Krishna, http://www.novogeek.com

  • TabBars and iOS 7

    - by MichaelScaria
I have a UITabbarController that I'm pushing another controller on top of using a UINavigationController. On iOS 6 and below, the tabBar of the parent controller slides away and the toolbar of the new view controller is presented. But on iOS 7 the tabBar doesn't animate away even if I run the code [self.navigationController setToolbarHidden:YES animated:NO]; EDIT - Okay I narrowed my problem to iOS 7 not respecting the hidesBottomBarWhenPushed property, I followed the answers in hidesBottomBarWhenPushed ignored in iOS 7 but it didn't work. The view that is pushed has a toolbar with buttons and the buttons are responding to touches, it's just that the tabBar is on top of the toolbar.

  • ManyToManyField error when having recursive structure. How to solve it?

    - by luc
Hello, I have the following table in the model with a recursive structure (a page can have children pages) class DynamicPage(models.Model): name = models.CharField("Titre",max_length=200) parent = models.ForeignKey('self',null=True, blank=True) I want to create another table with manytomany relation with this one: class UserMessage(models.Model): name = models.CharField("Nom", max_length=100) page = models.ManyToManyField(DynamicPage) The generated SQL creates the following constraint: ALTER TABLE `website_dynamicpage` ADD CONSTRAINT `parent_id_refs_id_29c58e1b` FOREIGN KEY (`parent_id`) REFERENCES `website_dynamicpage` (`id`); I would like to have the ManyToMany with the page itself (the id) and not with the parent field. How to modify the model to make the constraint using the id and not the parent? Thanks in advance

  • SQL: joining multiples tables into one.

    - by Graveen
I have 4 tables. r1, r2, r3 and r4. The table columns are the following: rId | rName I want to have, in fine, an unique table - let's call it R. Obviously, R will have the following structure: rTableName | rId | rName I'm looking for a solution, and the more natural for me is to: add a single column to all rX insert this column the table name i'm processing generate SQLs and concatenate them all Although I see exactly how to perform 1 and 3 with batching, editing, etc... (I have only to perform it once and for all), I don't see how to do the point 2: self-getting the tablename to insert into SQL. Have you an idea / or a different way to do that could solve my problem? Note: In fact, there are 250+ rX tables. That's why i can't do this manually. Note2: Precisely, this is with MySQL.
