    I'd like to be able to match this entire line (to highlight this sort of thing in vim): Fri Mar 18 14:10:23 ICT 2011. I'm trying to do it by finding a line that contains ICT 20 (first two digits of the year of the year), like this: syntax match myDate /^*ICT 20*$/, but I can't get it working. I'm very new to regex. Basically what I want to say: find a line that contains "ICT 20" and can have anything on either side of it, and match that whole line. Is there an easy way to do this?

    I am processing a file full of unix time strings. I want to convert them all to human readable. The file looks like so: 1153335401 1153448586 1153476729 1153494310 1153603662 1153640211 Here is the script: #! /bin/bash FILE="test.txt" cat $FILE | while read line; do perl -e 'print scalar(gmtime($line)), "\n"' done This is not working. The output I get is Thu Jan 1 00:00:00 1970 for every line. I think the line breaks are being picked up and that is why it is not working. Any ideas? I'm using Mac OSX is that makes any difference.

  • Generator speed in python 3

    Hello all, I am going through a link about generators that someone posted. In the beginning he compares the two functions below. On his setup he showed a speed increase of 5% with the generator. I'm running windows XP, python 3.1.1, and cannot seem to duplicate the results. I keep showing the "old way"(logs1) as being slightly faster when tested with the provided logs and up to 1GB of duplicated data. Can someone help me understand whats happening differently?   • Getting a PasteScript error when I try to serve an existing Pylons app.

    I'm trying to serve an existing Python 2.5 Pylons application on OS X Snow Leopard. When I run the following code with smaller 'repeats', its fine; def sample(x): length = 1000000 new_array = random.sample((list(x)),length) return (new_array) def repeat_sample(x): i = 0 repeats = 100 list_of_samples = [] for i in range(repeats): list_of_samples.append(sample(x)) return(list_of_samples) repeat_sample(large_array) However, using high repeats such as the 100 above, results in MemoryError.     Im trying to setup the code formatting in ReSharper. Limiting each line to a maximum count of characters, it seems to want to place casts on a separate line. Like so: string mystring = (string) MyStringConverter.convert(toconvert, typeof(string), null, null); I cant seem to be able to find the correct combination of settings to not have this on three lines. Im looking for something like this: string mystring = (string) MyStringConverter.convert( toconvert, typeof(string), null, null); Where the linebreak occurs is not that important, I guess I cant be to picky when I want to limit the line length. But three lines is a bit much. Does anyone know the/any correct combination of settings to make it only cut the line once?

For instance: Mandatory arguments to long options are mandatory for short options too. -a, --all do not ignore entries starting with . -A, --almost-all do not list implied . and .. The explanation of the options begin at position 30 regardless of the text preceding. How do you accomplish this with java.util.Formatter? I have tested with both the width (%30s) and precision (%.30) arguments, and neither provide the desired result.

    Let us say that I have a form to search by multiple tags in wordpress. <input type="checkbox" name="my_tags[]" value="tag1" /> <input type="checkbox" name="my_tags[]" value="tag2" /> I want to make it so that when my plugin sees that my_tags[] is set, it rewrites the request to say mysite.com/?tag=tag1+tag2 I know to use add_query_arg to put in the tag, and to use the query_vars filters to allow my arguments to be sent, but what do i hook into to get the arguments that were sent after the request, but before wp parses the request?

  • Java Counting # of occurrences of a word in a string

    I have a large text file I am reading from and I need to find out how many times some words come up. For example, the word "the". I'm doing this line by line each line is a string. I need to make sure that I only count legit "the"'s the the in other would not count. This means I know I need to use regular expressions in some way. What I was trying so far is this: numSpace += line.split("[^a-z]the[^a-z]").length; I realize the regular expression may not be correct at the moment but I tried without that and just tried to find occurrences of the word the and I get wrong numbers to. I was under the impression this would split the string up into an array and how many times that array was split up was how many times the word is in the string. Any ideas I would be grateful.

  • How can I improve the recursion capabilities of my ECMAScript implementation?

    After some resent tests I have found my implementation cannot handle very much recursion. Although after I ran a few tests in Firefox I found that this may be more common than I originally thought. I believe the basic problem is that my implementation requires 3 calls to make a function call. The first call is made to a method named Call that makes sure the call is being made to a callable object and gets the value of any arguments that are references. The second call is made to a method named Call which is defined in the ICallable interface. This method creates the new execution context and builds the lambda expression if it has not been created. The final call is made to the lambda that the function object encapsulates.
