Hello I'm a new android developer.
I want to do a welcome page which can display program logo [ full screen image] and loading progress of my main program.
My main program has to load a webpage. My question is how to display the web-loading progress of the main program on the welcome page, while showing the welcome page until the download is completed.
I used the tutorial on this website but i dont really understand how to get the file that i wont to be loaded into it. Does anyone know what i have to do to get a file in my res folder to show up in the webview through the content provider or even another way to do it?
http://www.techjini.com/blog/2009/01/10/android-tip-1-contentprovider-accessing-local-file-system-from-webview-showing-image-in-webview-using-content/
am almost done with my project in android, now I want to make the executable version of the application.
I need to demonstrate it in .exe form as soft app as on emulator, not by built and debug process from eclipse.
My application is a trail version apk. Once the period is completed, can I initiate another application to be installed/downloaded from the android market ( purchasing process) which is a paid application using the current running trail application.
Hi!
I'm trying to run the google maps
example but it keep giving me in the console:
"WARNING: Application does not specify an API level requirement!"
"Device API version is 7 (Android 2.1)"
The application never starts,
instead, it shows that frame with:
"The application (...) has stopped unexpectedly..."
Can Anyone point what might be the the problem?
Thanks
The wifi network is connected, the application setup a socket connection and exchange data with the remote server. But when turn off the wifi, the inteface is removed, while socket operation read/write on this socket is still like normal, no any IO exception reported. The application has to do some extra checking to avoid waiting for the data forever.
Is this the normal case for Android design? Is there any plan to fix it?
I have a custom dialog in my android application. I want to have in this dialog a field for choosing a phone number from contacts.
This example describes such snippet. However for this example contact picker is created inside an activity and I do not know how to do this if I do not have activity (in case of dialog)

Hi all,
Sorry if this is a noob question, I searched quite a bit and couldn't find an answer.
I'm developing a html5 app that relies on sqlite for local storage.
I'd like for it to appear as an app icon on the iPhone/Android screen, what's the best way to do this? Ie can I write some sort of "wrapper" app to achieve it?
Thanks!

I've used the code from the PDF rendering question
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2883355/how-to-render-pdf-in-android
And it works! Props to the answerer, but my question is about doing that same thing but also sending a keyword to search in the pdf. I have no idea how to do this, should I set a flag? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I'm using a default Eclipse project file generated for my Android application, and I want to keep it in a targets/ directory (along with other eclipse-specific files) in order to better organize my project structure (I also plan on adding a target for NetBeans).
Simple question, I suppose: Is this possible?
I understand most Android devices have a 16mb limit (24mb on Nexus One) on the Java heap size. Is there any way a single app can use more memory than that? I know the native SDK doesn't have this limitation but I'd like to stick with Java.
Say if I have a locationManager(LM) object in activity A, which is my main menu. All the sub-activities need to use LM. In a good design, should I pass LM object to sub-activities? how? Please suggest some good coding pattern. Thanks.

Is there any way to modify the generic Android Exception message "The application ... has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again later.” to display something more meaningful to the user?
Subject says it all. I have seen examples implementing a custom Filter. The Android developer docs talk about implementing a Filterable interface. Does anyone have any advice and/or sample code on the best way to implement filtering in a ListView ?
