  • classes in obj.c

    - by palominoz
@interface MainViewController : UIViewController < FlipsideViewControllerDelegate { } I am quite new to object oriented languages & especially obj.c. I need to use addressbook framework within this class.Apple documentation suggests this code: @interface ViewController : UIViewController < ABPeoplePickerNavigationControllerDelegate {} I was wondering how to use at the same time FlipSideControllerDelegate & ABPeoplePickerControllerDelegate. In fact I really can't understand what i am doing:)

  • Open source equivelants to VS / web reference proxy classes?

    - by seraphym
As an ASP.NET developer, I'm used to working with how VS/C# transparently autogens proxy classes for web references (yes, I know, we're spoiled), but now that I'm creating documentation for more than one coding platform I'm trying to discover what the equivelant to that is in any other framework. So is there a similar way to work transparently with web reference proxy classes for say, RoR, PHP, and Python? And if there's nothing integrated, are there tools you recommend to autogen the proxy classes, or do you recommend to roll custom classes?

  • Using low level api for datastore in google app engine ? is it bad ?

    - by Chez
There is little documentation on how to use the low level api for datastore and quite a lot on JPA and JDO and how it translates to it. My question is: is there any advantage in coding against the JPA or JDO specs instead of accessing directly the low level api for datastore ? From an initial look, it seems simple and straight forward but I am not sure if there are good reasons why not to do it. Thanks Cx

  • Three20 - SIGABRT on setting TTTableLongTextItem to TTStyledText

    - by gavinblair
My code is as follows TTTableLongTextItem *descItem = [[TTTableLongTextItem alloc] autorelease]; TTStyledText *styledDesc = [[TTStyledText alloc] autorelease]; styledDesc = [TTStyledText textWithURLs:@"howdy http://www.google.com"]; //this line causes the SIGABRT: descItem.text = styledDesc; //I also get a warning on this line that says "warning: passing argument 1 of 'setText:' from distinct Objective-C type" What am I missing here? Any help is muchly appreciated - Three20 documentation is a little sparse!

  • How to find an audio file's length (in seconds)

    - by mIL3S
Hi all! (Objective C) Just using simple AudioServicesPlaySystemSoundID and its counterparts, but I can't find in the documentation if there is already a way to find the length of an audio file. I know there is AudioServicesGetPropertyInfo, but that seems to return a byte-buffer - do audio files embed their length in themselves and I can just extract it with this? Or is there perhaps a formula based on bit-rate * fileSize to convert to length-of-time? mIL3S www.milkdrinkingcow.com

  • YouTube .Net API - Not getting correct View Counts

    - by Ardman
I've managed to plug away through the YouTube documentation, and have managed to successfully implement the majority of what I want to work. My question is, I get the video View count and it comes back lower than the actual video on YouTube. It was fine this morning and both showed correctly, but now my version is out by 4 views. Does anyone have any experience with this? Or can tell me if they update the values every 5/10/15/24 hours?

  • How to use Split with jQuery?

    - by Matt
I need to break apart a string that always looks like this: something -- something_else. I need to put "something_else" in another input field. Currently, this string example is being added to an HTML table row on the fly like this: tRow.append($('<td>').text($('[id$=txtEntry2]').val())); I figure "split" is the way to go but there is very little documentation that I can find yet.

  • [Embedded Python] Invoking a method on an object

    - by jmucchiello
Given a PyObject* pointing to a python object, how do I invoke one of the object methods? The documentation never gives an example of this: PyObject* obj = .... PyObject* args = Py_BuildValue("(s)", "An arg"); PyObject* method = PyWHATGOESHERE(obj, "foo"); PyObject* ret = PyWHATGOESHERE(obj, method, args); if (!ret) { // check error... } This would be the equivalent of >>> ret = obj.foo("An arg")

  • Is there a way to close a Unix socket for only reading or writing?

    - by Sii
Is there a way to only close "one end" of a TCP socket to cleanly indicate one side of a connection is done writing to the connection? (Just like you do with a pipe in every Unix pipe tutorial ever.) Or should I use some in-band solution like a sentinel value or some such? I only found shutdown() in the libc documentation and that doesn't seem like it does what I want.

  • Query scope within a table trigger in an Oracle database

    - by sisslack
I'm been trying to write a table trigger the queries another table that is outside the schema where the trigger will reside. Is this possible? It seems like I have no problem querying tables in my schema but I get: Error: ORA-00942: table or view does not exist when trying trying to query tables outside my schema. The documentation seems to elude to this notion, but it's not 100% clear to me.

  • Compiling in g++ for gprof

    - by myahya
I do not understand the documentation for gprof regarding how to compile your program for profiling with gprof. In g++, is it required to compile with the -g option (debugging information) in a addition to the -pg option or not. In each case I get different results, and I would like to see where the bottlenecks in my application are in release mode, not in debug mode, where many optimizations are left out by the compiler (e.g. inlining)

  • Outputcache - how to determine optimal value for duration?

    - by Steve
I read somewhere that for a high traffic site (I guess that is a murky term as well), 30 - 60 seconds is a good value. Obviously I could do a load test and vary the values, but I couldn't find any kind of documentation on this. Most samples have a minute, a couple of minutes. There's no recommended range. Is there something on msdn or anywhere that talks about this?

  • What is the proper method to stop loading a Flex Module before it has completely loaded?

    - by Michael Prescott
I seem to recall that Loader.unload() could once be used to stop loading a swf before it had finished loading. I can no longer find documentation or the blog where I read this. Perhaps it was an unofficial feature. Anyhow, IModuleInfo, returned by ModuleManager.getModule() has an unload() method. If I want to halt loading a Flex Module that is in progress, do I just call iModuleInfo_instance.unload()?

  • Why don't my groovy enums work, or even compile?

    - by ?????
    I'm running Groovy Version: 1.7.0 JVM: 1.6.0_17 (Update -- I just upgraded to 1.7.1 and get the same errors!) I've tried to use enums, using the exact syntax from the groovy documentation, and each time I see the compile error: Groovy:The class java.lang.Enum refers to the class java.lang.Enum and uses 1 parameters, but the referred class takes no parameters Any ideas on what's going on? For example: This code won't compile or run, and gets the error above. enum VehicleStatus { OFF, IDLING, ACCELERATING, DECELARATING } class Vehicle { Long id Long version VehicleStatus status }

  • Allocation of memory with LE routines

    - by HaWe
At /questions/2000777/allocation-of-memory-in-variable-length-tables NealB mentioned LE routines to allocate/deallocate memory in a non-CICS COBOL program. I'd very much like to know how this is done: how the LE routine is called. (I'm familiar with the LINKAGE SECTION and with SET ADDRESS.) Since I have no access to an IBM mainframe at the moment - meaning no access to online documentation - some code snippets could enlighten me.
