Hi everyone, I am new to asp.net .. i want to learn about web services.. can anyone pls provide me a good link or pdf on web services for reading it from basic.. thanks in advance..
I'm trying to make semantic urls for search pages, but if someone use a search finished in dot, the .net engine return a 404.
The request don't even get to the routing engine, so i think its something related to security or something like that.
For example, the stackoverflow routes also don't work in these case:
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/tagged/etc.
I published a C# .net application to the wrong folder. I am using VS 2005. How do I unpublish the app to be able to republish in the correct folder.
I tried simply publishing to another folder and now the app will not run from either location.
I would like to know the number of users logged into my ASP.NET 2.0 application.
Points to be considered:
1) Simplest way would be to use Application or Cache object to have the counts on Session start or end. However this would fail if there is a worker process recycle. Wouldn't it?
2) Should't make a difference whether the session is inproc/state server managed/ or SQL server managed.
3) Should preferably be seamless to a web-farm architecture.
Hi folks,
is it possible to add a dot format / .format to the end of any route in ASP.NET MVC .. with a default being html or something?
and of course the .format is an optional value.
sample routes:-
http://whatever/controller/action.format
http://whatever/controller/action
those goto the same action method.
cheers!
I'm currently using the asp.net membership provider (with logins stored in db) to protect certain pages of my site. However, I also have non .aspx resources I wish to protect - word docs, excel spreadsheets, pdfs, etc. Is this even possible? If so how would I go about doing this?
thanks!
How can I protect a ClickOnce deployed application with a password? Do I have to change the IIS settings of the web or is there a way to do it programmatically? I'm using Visual Studio 2005 (.NET 2.0).
If I have to use web credentials, are auto-updates of the application still possible?
Would be great if you could provide some sample code or detailed instructions for administering IIS.
Thank you!

Trying to use the following C# as a guide
object[] attrs =
System.Reflection.Assembly.GetEntryAssembly().GetCustomAttributes(true);
foreach (object o in attrs)
if (o.GetType() == typeof(System.Reflection.AssemblyFileVersionAttribute))
label1.Text = ((System.Reflection.AssemblyFileVersionAttribute) o).Version;
Assume you are taking over a legacy .NET app. [pre - 3.0]
What are the top 5 diagnostic measures, profiling or otherwise that you would employ to assess the health of the application?
Is there any IOC container that already implements a controller factory compatible with asp.net mvc 2.0 ....if so i'll move my projects to 2.0 to test...
Anyone know a good reference about it?
Hey guys and gals,
Any one knows of an easy to use/well documented Facebook library for VB.NET?
I have searched the Interwebs for it for a long time and even the official one has a very poor documentation for beginners. It looks like you have to be a Facebook developer to work with them.
Any help is much appreciated.
Thanks!
I have a WCF service which I would like to access using ASP.NET. The binding used in the WCF service is basicHttpBinding. How may I do it? Any examples will be really appreciated.
Hi,
is there a way to draw mixed-formatted text in .Net 2.0? I'm looking for something similar to
System.Drawing.Graphics.DrawString()
My problem with this method is that it allows only one format style for the whole text. But I need to draw text that has different format styles (e.g. a part of the text shall be underlined, another part bold and so on).
Thanks a lot!
Oliver
I know that F7/Shift F7 will switch between Code behind and ASPX pages, but
what's the shortcut to switch between source and design view in Visual studio for asp.net Pages?

Hello,
I am creating some cookies in my ASP.NET application. These cookies expire 10 minutes after they have been created. I follow the approach described on MSDN as shown here:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.web.httpcookie.expires.aspx
My question is, when a cookie "expires", what happens? Does the browser automatically delete the cookie? Is it our responsibility as developers to remove the cookies if they exist and have expired?
Thank you,
Actually its the mono version of asp.net, XSP.
In my begin request function i check the url and rewrite when necessary. In one case i do
context.RewritePath("~/App_Data/public" + path);
When i try to request images or anything i get a 404 instead of the content. Why?
We have a scenario where we would like to allow our users to upload images to the site. We are running on ASP.Net.
A quick search did not result in anything good. It would be great if the control is free/open source but we do not mind paying a little bit.
With alle the new paralell programming features in .NET 4.0, what would be a a simple and fast way to implement the producer-consumer pattern (where at least one thread is producing and enqueuing task items and one other thread executes (dequeues) these tasks). Can we benfit from all these new APIs? What is your preferred implementation of this pattern?
I am using ASP.NET Callbacks (that implements the ICallbackEventHandler) and in the handler, I try to set a value of the text box:
txtName.text = "Test";
but this value is not set. Is this a limitation with callback? It appears I cannot do much in a callback handler other than sending back a string to the client side (ofcourse I can access the Session etc)
Hi Guys,
We are trying to build a cross-domain single-sign on solution using ASP.NET MVC. Something which works like this:
User hits www.test.com [or www.test2.com or www.test3.com or www.testN.com]
User clicks widget, login appears
User signs into www.example.com from 2) i.e. from widget [x-domain signin]
User is now logged in on www.test.com [authenticated from www.example.com]
User visits [www.test2.com or www.test3.com or www.testN.com] and is signed in to www.example.com
Any existing solutions or tutorials available ?
