• How to prevent modal view controllers flashing when changing

  I have three view controllers, let's call them A, B and C. When a button is pressed on view A, view B is shown using presentModalViewController:animated: When the finish button is pressed on screen B, it dismisses itself. View A is notified whereupon it immediately shows view C, again using presentModalViewController:animated: The problem is that view A's content is momentarily flashed on the screen between view B closing and view C opening. I can get around this by making view A blank and moving it's current content to a new view, D. (For various reasons, I don't want view B to own view C, that's why it's not opening it) Am I over-complicating this? I'm sure there is a smarter way to go? ThanksT

• I have a bunch of divs floated left, lined up in columns with different heights. They dont create a

  Hey guys, I am trying to create a grid like system with div's with content floated left. The problem is that the height of each div is not static since the content is different in each one. Since the height is different.. things get outta whack if one is taller then another in one row. Is there some sort of css way or js (prefer javascript) way to get around this.   I've just installed Ubuntu 10.04 LTS Server with LAMP support. Tomcat6 seems to run ok. But, I am unable to get into the manager-webapp... • jQuery Cluetip not activated until after hover or click event

  I'm not sure what is causing this, but I am using cluetip and binding it to a live event (either click or mouseenter), but in each situation the cluetip isn't firing until after one click or hover event. I am using the live event for ajax loaded content, but I'm also having this issue with non-Ajax loaded content. I'm not sure why this is happening - can anyone see where I might be going wrong?   What's the simplest API to use in scala to perform the following XPath queries on a document? //s:Annotation[@type='attitude']/s:Content/s:Parameter[@role='type' and not(text())] //s:Annotation[s:Content/s:Parameter[@role='id' and not(text())]]/@type The only documentation I can find on Scala's XML libraries has no information on performing complicated real XPath queries. I used to like JDOM for this purpose (in Java), but since JDOM doesn't support generics, it will be painful to work with in Scala. (Other XML libraries for Java have tended to be even more painful in Java, but I admit I don't know the landscape real well.)

• django templating system inheritance issue

  hi, i am having issues with my django templating system, i have a base.html file, which contains the content which will be common on all the web pages of the web site, the base.html file fetches some dynamic content, like the categories and the archives, which are passed to it by a python file, which fetches the categories and the archives data from a mysql database. the issue when i inherit this base.html file in other html files like index.html: {% extends "base.html" %} and when when i call the main index URL for ex: http://mywebsite.com/index/ the index page gets loaded, but the categories and the archives data that should get loaded from the base.html file does not. what am i doing wrong, please help.

• Why are $_POST variables getting escaped in PHP?

  When my PHP script receives data from an AJAX POST request, the $_POST variables are escaped. The really strange thing is that this only happens on my production server (running PHP 5.2.12 on Linux) and not on my local server (running PHP 5.3.1 on Windows). • How important is caching for a site's speed with PHP?

  I've just made a user-content orientated website http://www.humanisms.co.uk Its done in PHP, MySQL and jQuery's AJAX, at the moment there is only a dozen or so submissions and already i can feel it lagging slightly when it goes to a new page (therefore running a new mysql query) Is it most important for me to try and optimise my mysql queries (by prepared statements) or is it worth in looking at CDN's (amazon s3) and caching (much like the WordPress plugin WP Super Cache) which works by serving static HTML files when there hasnt been new content submitted. Which route is the most beneficial, for me as a developer, to take, ie. where am i better off concentrating my efforts to speed up the site?

The application needs to display to the user a different 'window' - dependant on whether this is the first time they've launched the application or not.   I have to read a file and depending of the content of the last lines, I have to copy most of its content into a new file. Unfortunately I didn't found a way to copy first n lines or chars of a file in java. The only way I found, is copying the file using nio FileChannels where I can specifiy the length in bytes. However, therefore I would need to know how many bytes the stuff I read needed in the source-file. Does anyone know a solution for one of these problems?

  Hi, I must have a little design in javascript. I have a menu with 5 entrys and only 1 HTML-page. So I will have a content-div and enabled and disabled different static content in it, each menu-entry is another content. I tried with 5 divs and disable 4 of them and enable 1, but the element under each other means every div is like a - enabled or not, so the "content" is moving then. Hope its understandable.   I have HTML Content which was being displayed in a text. The next iteration of my app is display the HTML contents into a UIWebView. So I basically replaced my UITextView with UIWebView. However I could not figure out how to inset my HTML snippit into the view. It seems to need a URLRequest which I do not want. • How can I see what capybara found in a failing cucumber step?

  I started migrating from cucumber + webrat to cucumber + capybara. Now the behavior of "I should see " seems to be somewhat different. Most of these fail now, although I didn't change anything on the page. I replaced the snippet that should be found with some stuff that is on every page and for some text it works and for other text it doesn't. I can't find any pattern in what is found in the page's content and what is not. Webrat used to print what the page content is that it found, in case it did not contain the required phrase. Is there anyway to have capybara show what text it got from the page in which it tried to find the text?

  On a Content model have an attribute named slug. When creating a new record, I want to use a helper to populate this field, but on an existing record I want to use the value from the database. Is this the best way, or is there no other way? • Holy grail layout with 100% height

  I am trying to make a css layout that looks like this http://oi53.tinypic.com/o0v0vp.jpg The CSS term for this type of layout is known as the "holy grail" I think. The problem I am facing is that when I use layouts and solutions I find online I do not get them to work properly as I want them to. What I am trying to do is make a page that, regardless of content, will have the footer at the bottom of the browser and the columns stretching down to it. So far I have only seen pages that have the footer placed where the content stop, the result is some blank space under the footer. If anyone could help me out on this it would be greatly appreciated!
