Since cloud solutions (Google AppEngine, Amazon, etc.) do more for you, at the end of the day do they cost significantly more than doing it "yourself" with co-location hosting, etc.
Not just starting out, but when the website is mature and getting many page views a day.
I want to build a website that provides some maps that have information about a city (like Google Maps). How can I do that? Is it good to use an app to do that? Can you give me a few examples?
Or it it best to do that with Web programming? Is there any tutorial that can help me out?
I'm using google chrome beta version,
recently i found all my saved authentications get lost when closing the window and reopen. It is not saving any passwords or "stay signed in" or "remember me in this computer". This applies for gmail, facebook, yahoo, etc.
the issue is only with chrome, while firefox and IE are still ok.
Is it something i messed up, or is it just chrome?
Can I automatically group downloads by domain (e.g. place it in corresponding folders inside Downloads directory)? I'm using Google Chrome and looks like it must be done by some sort of download manager.
If this can be achieved with Chrome alone, how to do it?
If not, what the best program for this task?
Hi,
I wanted to try and I installed Internet Explorer 9 and now Firefox is acting strangely,
For example the URL Windows aren't opening in time, when I Maximize Firefox the window Title is blinking crazy.
But Google Earth is acting even more strangely,The application seems to work but when I browse or zoom Earth I immediately experience lots of blinking on my screen.
How do I uninstall Internet Explorer 9 or Rollback to Internet Explorer 8?
Hello,
how do I start google chrome in application mode? What I want is for it to surf to www.facebook.com directly without borders or address bar etc.
thanks
the command:
nslookup ipv6.google.com
doesn't work quite well. somtimes it returns an correct ipv6 address, sometimes it returns an ipv4 address.
How can this happen?
[im using OpenDNS]
much thanks for help.
The problem is, both Firefox and Internet Explorer have "Open in New Tab" as the second option.
This has become muscle memory for me by now, to the point that I don't use as often as I want to, solely because I can't open a page in a new tab without thinking about it.
Is there a way to switch the position of "Open Link in new tab" and "Open link in new window", so that I can resume browsing as normal, or am I cursed by this user interface design nightmare by Google?
I really like google translator, but the output strips background images and all other content from the PDF. Is there any translation that converts PDF as-is or atleast close to the original without stripping images etc..?
Thanks
Is there any google chrome extension that lets you manage other extensions? So that you can disable and enable them by just one click
Because I have many extensions installed in my chrome browser but I do not use them everytime. So I disable them, then enable them later using the bookmark with this address:
chrome://extensions/
Today, I am suddenly getting the untrusted website error for all Google websites, but not for any other. Internet Explorer gives no such error. Reboot of this Windows 7 computer does not help.
Is this some kind of virus infection that is hijacking DNS resolution away from Google to some spoofer?
How can I resolve this issue and get Google websites working again normally?
If I manually enter a Google IP Address, the page loads correctly.
Hi
I just signed in to Ovi Files service and it works great on Windows Desktop. But it lacks a connector for Linux. Is there any alternative way to achieve the same.
The goal is to sync your files on the desktop with a webstorage system like Google Docs or Ovi files, Dropbox and so on.
Thanks.
I use Chrome at home and the office, and I was wondering if there is an extension that will sync not just my Chrome settings and bookmarks, but also my extensions and their settings between computers I run Chrome on?
http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Chrome/thread?tid=469242bc0eb964d6&hl=en
Is a thread asking for support on it, but nobody mentions if there is an extension created for Chrome doing this, or if it was ever implemented.
I'm using RabbitVCS to work with Google Code, and I just recently started having problems with trying to commit. Whenever I try to commit, it says...
Commit failed
Server sent unexpected return value (500 Internal Server Error) in response to Checkout request for (some file that is involved in the commit. The file it fails on isn't consistent).
I have no idea what is wrong, any help is appreciated, thanks.
When you select some text with Firefox and Chrome for that matter you can right click the highlight text and search
some query
(highlight the text above and right click)
Search Google for "some query"
How can I stop it from opening in the new tab. I cannot find it in about:config or chrome://plugins
I don't want it opened in the SAME tab. I want it opened in a NEW tab
but I DON'T want Firefox/Chrome to automatically switch to the new tab
once opened..
when launching chrome from the windows command line I can pass arguments like so:
...>chrome.exe -incognito
I can also pass a URL to open
...>chrome.exe google.com
Each work fine on their own but I can't get them to work together.
What I want is to launch it with a url, and open in its OWN tab, and hide the url, buttons, etc. like a utility window but I do want it resizable.
Hi all,
I'm wondering if it's possible in Google Chrome (Mac) to display all the available "accesskey" keyboard shortcuts for a web page. What I would like to achieve is something like this for Firefox.
Iam running Linux Mint on my laptop and i have some (serious) problems with Google Chrome.Randomly Chrome becomes totally unresponsive and iam not able to do anything, except restart the system from the power button.I think it's not an issue with system load and/or RAM,because if i for example open lot of "heavy" programs everything seems to work quite fine. When i only run Chrome with not many tabs at random times it freezes the whole system. The weird thing is that Chrome is not heavily loaded with tabs or extensions.I can't figure out what is causing this problem.Any suggestion?Thank you in advance.
I have a handful of (content unrelated) sites with decent PRs and I'm considering hosting them all on the same server. I've heard that if you do this, internal linking between two seperate domains on that server may be seen as less "valid" by Google in PageRank terms (since you obviously own both of the sites as they share an IP address).
Anyone have any experience in this? I'd love to save some hosting cash by consolidating, but not at the expense of losing the ability to link my sites together powerfully.
Is it possible to have an online site to see the list/collection of installed extensions of the Chrome browsers installed among my PCs?
Please share.
ps.
I notice that we have the Chrome backup feature which will restore my chrome extensions after we sign in via a Google account.
So I need to see the list online somewhere so that to disabled/remove the extensions that I don't wanna waste time reinstalling.
I looked at all the other posts on this but can't find the directories mentioned (~/.config/google-chrome/Default/Bookmarks, it's a JSON file.). Being a 2 day Newbie to Ubuntu/Linux I would like to know if the location has changed in the latest version or if not how I locate the directory indicated. I have logged in as root and searched for the folder and can't find it although I imported my bookmarks from a html file so I know that they must be saved somewhere.
If I want to use CloudFlare to help protect my GAE app via it's custom domain, I still am vulnerable to attacks directly on the .appspot.com domain. How do I mitigate that? I could force redirect appspot.com host requests, such as discussed here:
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1364733/block-requests-from-appspot-com-and-force-custom-domain-in-google-app-engine/
But I would still suffer the load of processing the redirect in my app. Are there any other solutions?
