  • height: auto does not work to automatically resize header

    I'm trying to do a simple thing in CSS I have a header tag and inside that a couple of h tags. So, in order to have a responsive design I do height:auto; inside the header tag, so it will automatically stretch to contain the h tags. Right? But does not work, headeris just a line in the top of the page. t should stretch to contain the titles, right? What am I missing? Is it a good practice to put CSS in the h tags and not style header at all? So h tags will be like the header in user's eye? Thanks in advence Check it here

  • How to make this very long url appear short?

    I have made most my site SE friendly, but one part of my site bugs me... I have a HUGE form in one of the pages, and when submitting the form (action=php_page) URL is so long it covers half a word document in one line with all the passing variables... This is very ugly...     I have an arrow on my site that I'd like if onclick, it hides one element, and shows another. Hitting it again, will hide the element that was shown and show the element that was hidden. Is that possible to do without jQuery?     Hello, I tried to display a image when a mouseover on text occurs. It works fine. And the alignment of the image should be shown such that the end of the image should be at the container.   • Pre-loading external files (CSS, JavaScript) for other pages

    I'm curious if there is an efficient way to wait for the front page of a site to load, and then pre-load CSS and script files that I know will likely be needed for the other pages on the site. I want the front page of the site to be as fast as possible (lean and mean). It's likely that the user will not immediately click on a link. Since there will likely be some idle time, this seems like an opportune time to pre-load some of the external assets. Pre-loading should cause them to become cached. When the user does click on another page, the only request needed will be for the content and possibly some images, etc. Has anyone done this? Is it a bad idea? Is there an elegant way to implement it?

  • Reducing lag when downloading large amount of data from webpage

    I am getting data via RSS feeds and displaying each article in a table view cell. Each cell has an image view, set to a default image. If the page has an image, the image is to be replaced with the image from the article. As of now, each cell downloads the source code from the web page, causing the app to lag when I push the view controller and when I try scrolling.   • allowing bb code but not java script

    Hello im trying to get the hang of using bb codes onto my normal php site ( not forum or anything just a normal site ) I have seen a few posts like this one http://www.pixel2life.com/forums/index.php?/topic/10659-php-bbcode-parser/ which says i need a bb parser. I was just wondering can anyone show me how i would use one ? I have a status box were users can update there status but i would like to allow bb codes but not java script. So when im doing my inserting into the db i strip the status like so.. $status= mysql_real_escape_string($_POST['status']); $status2= strip_tags($status); And that stops the java script and tags from getting though but i need the bb code tags to come though but carry on blocking the java script code is there anyway to do this ? Also then i just echo it out echo $status2 ; But just plain text shows so was just wondering if anyone knows how to let though bb code and stop java script and could some one show me how to use the bb parasher ? also need to know how to echo out the bb coding...

    I realize there's the W3C validator, which works great for one page. There's also the perl install they provide, but it seems to not work on a Mac or it's buggy. Given that 1) I have an entire set of local files How do I a) Validate the entire set b) do it behind a firewall c) do it simply without installing anything on my computer? (i.e., is there a web service?) Or is this just futile?

When i hover over the main hover links (blue ones) quickly eg going horizontally quickly hovering each top menu, the some submenus don't close.     I have a J2EE application that I am building with Spring and Maven. It has the usual project structure. Here is a bit of the hierarchy. MyApplication src main webapp WEB-INF layout header.jsp styles main.css I want to include that CSS file in my JSP. I have the following tag in place. <c:url var="styleSheetUrl" value="/styles/main.css" /> <link rel="stylesheet" href="${styleSheetUrl}"> When I deploy the application, the CSS page isn't being located. When I view the page source, the href is /MyApplication/styles/main.css. Looking inside the WAR, there is a /styles/main.css. However, I get a 404 when I try to access the CSS file directly in the browser. I discovered that the reason for the issue was the Dispatcher Servlet mapping. The mapping looks as follows. <servlet-mapping> <servlet-name>Spring MVC Dispatcher Servlet</servlet-name> <url-pattern>/</url-pattern> </servlet-mapping> I imagine the Dispatcher Servlet doesn't know how to handle the CSS request. What is the best way to handle this issue? I would rather not have to change all of my request mappings.

  • How to add an item to the top of a dynamic list

    Like the title states, does anyone out there have a clear way to implement this type of functionality? Example: If you go to http://weewar.com, in their front page you noticed an ajax module that updates every second. However, all of the new items are added to the top of the list. My question is around that very same functionality. Does anyone have an easy and clear idea as to how one would implement this functionality? So far I have a method that initially creates the list, then another method is called in an interval that pulls the most recent data from the server.. However, I'm stuck with, how can I add the new dynamic node to the top of the list. If you can guide me to where I can find this information or give me an idea as to how I can implement this I will be very happy and grateful :) Thanks in advanced.
